Paul L. Vanderlinden

KITTERY, Maine - A well-attended graveside committal service and burial for Paul L. Vanderlinden, who died on Oct. 3, 2002, was held on Monday at Orchard Grove Cemetery, Kittery. The Rev. George Wardwell, pastor of the Kittery Point Baptist Church, recited prayers. Friends whose lives were touched by Mr. Vanderlinden spoke words of remembrance and expressed their thanks to the Vanderlinden family. Mr. Vanderlinden’s son, Terry, eulogized his dad. Full military honors were provided by the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Vanderlinden was a 20-year veteran of the Air Force. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery.

Robert Michael Linnehan

HAMPTON FALLS - Robert Michael Linnehan, 70, died Oct. 10, 2002, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Mary M. (Carney) Linnehan, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. He was born on Jan. 26, 1932, a son of Elsie (Francia) Linnehan of Haverhill and the late John H. Linnehan. He attended Haverhill public schools, Merrimack College, and Boston College.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in England during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of he Air Force Golf Team that traveled throughout Europe and North Africa.

He was an avid golfer throughout his life. As a youth he caddied at the Haverhill (Mass.) Country Club, entered and won many amateur tournaments in the Merrimack Valley and in the Air Force, and became an assistant pro at Nashawtuk County Club in Concord, Mass., and Goose Creek Country Club in Leesburg, Va. He joined the Mid-Atlantic PGA Tour in the late 1960s. He enjoyed meteorology, was a member of the St. James Holy Name Society, and was an active parishioner at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. Mr. Linnehan was a proud supporter of his children’s’ academic and athletic endeavors. He was the comptroller and general manager of Yankee Greyhound Racing in Seabrook, N.H., for the past 28 years, where he was appreciated and respected by colleagues and patrons for his fairness and genuine approach.

In addition to being a loving husband and son, he was a caring and devoted father to 13 children, Mary Ellen and Dr. Christopher Allegra of Rye, N.Y., Johanna Linnehan of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; Elisa M. Linnehan of Cambridge, Mass.; Robert M. Linnehan Jr. of Hampton Falls, N.H.; Hugh J. and Petra Linnehan of Portsmouth, N.H.; Christine M. Linnehan of Portsmouth, N.H.; Michael E. and Robin Linnehan of Hampton Falls, N.H.; Jodi C. Linnehan of Plaistow, N.H.; John F.X. Linnehan of Albuquerque, N.M.; Anne E. and Matthew Leary of Wakefield, Mass.; Joseph J. and Sarah Linnehan of Hampton, N.H.; Kathryn P. Linnehan of Hampton Falls, N.H.; Julie E. Linnehan of Medford, Mass.; James Linnehan of Dracut, Mass.; and William Linnehan of Atkinson, N.H.; two sisters, Dorothy Bang of San Jose, Calif.; and Mary Hoyt of Plaistow, N.H.

Mr. Linnehan was preceded in death by a brother, John E. Linnehan of Lowell, Mass.

LINNEHAN - Robert Michael Linnehan, 70, of 4 Woodlawn Avenue, Hampton Falls, N.H., died peacefully Oct. 10, 2002, at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14. Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, at the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, 24 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton, N.H. Alice (Nace) Kulp

KITTERY, Maine - Funeral services for Alice (Nace) Kulp, 94, of Kittery were held from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, in Portsmouth, N.H., Wednesday, with services held at the Bethany Church in Greenland, N.H. Pastor Fred Cheney officiated. The euglogy was given by the Rev. Dennis Marasco. Words of remembrance were given by daughter Audrey Link, son Ron Kulp, and grandsons Kirby Link and Skip Link. Scripture readings were offered by Ron Kulp and Skip Link. Vocalists were the Rev. Justin Yim and Karen Cameron. In attendance were members of the church and representatives from Meeting House Village in Kittery, Maine. Burial was in Central Cemetery, Rye, N.H, with committal services by Pastor Cheney and the Rev. Marasco. Bearers were Skip Link, Kirby Link, Philip Kulp, Adrian Link, Connor Link and Dylon Duhon.

Marjorie M. "Marge" Scully

RYE - Largely attended funeral services were held Friday morning Oct. 4, 2002, for Marjorie M. "Marge" (Creteau) Scully of Rye, who passed away Oct. 1, 2002 at her residence following a brief illness.

More than 200 family and friends gathered at St. Theresa Church in Rye Beach to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Principal celebrant was Rev. Maurice D. Lavigne, pastor of St. Theresa Church. Concelebrants were the Rev. John V. Moran, former pastor of St. Theresa Church; Rev. Bartholomew R. Leon, OSB, pastor of St. George Maronite Catholic Church in Dover; and Rev. Edward J. Kelley of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Portsmouth.

Acolytes were Salvatore Devincenzo and David Duggan. The crossbearer was William Hanson. Serving as lector was longtime friend Thomas P. Ahearn. The organist was Judith M. Kish, Director of music at St. Theresa Church, the soloists were Mrs. Scully’s close friends Katherine A. Crotty, and Mary Louise Arcidi. Robert Stibler accompanied the soloists serving as trumpeter.

The funeral pall was placed on Mrs. Scully’s casket by family friends Elizabeth Cady and her daughter Joan Perisi of Rye. The first reading was given by granddaughter Kristen M. Kelley, the second reading by granddaughter Katherine E. Scully, and the prayers of the faithful were offered by granddaughter-in-law Kristin Gray Scully. The Eucharistic gifts were brought to the altar by grandson John J. Scully III, and grandson-in-law Jeff Kelley. Words of remembrance were offered after communion by her friend of many years, Salvatore Devincenzo.

Many family and friends attended visiting hours Thursday at the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, including a large representation from St. Theresa Parish family, the town of Rye, numerous members from the assorted churches where she had served as organist throughout the years, members of the RSVP, the Third Friday Club, representatives from several area nursing homes where she regularly played, as well as many family friends from the Manchester, Nashua, and Bedford areas.

Interment followed in the family lot in Central Cemetery, Rye, with the Rev. Lavigne leading the committal prayers. Pallbearers were John J. Scully III, Jeff Kelley, Jeffrey D. Gray, Mark D Gray, John F. Leith and Lyman Thibodeau. A mercy meal followed the committal services at St. Theresa Parish Center. In her memory, contributions may be made to St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 22 Chapel St., Dover, NH 03820. Arrangements were under the direction of the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, 24 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton, NH 03842.

Raymond H. Bone

YORK, Maine - Raymond Henry Bone, 86, of Organug Road and husband of Roxy Diane (Ellis) Bone, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at York Hospital.

He was born in York, May 23, 1916, son of William and Mabel (Davis) Bone. He graduated from York High School.

Mr. Bone worked as an electrician at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard from 1942 to 1962. He was always proud of the work he did on the subMarines. Being born in York and living here, Mr. Bone considered himself to be a "true Mainer." This was of great amusement to himself, family and friends. He loved animals and spent many hours trying to protect the birds and bird feeders from the squirrels. He never succeeded in this endeavor, but always kept trying to create the perfect squirrel-proof bird feeder.

He was an avid rock collector and had a large mineral rock collection. He enjoyed doing genealogy work. He often said that he and his wife, Roxy, had two fur "children" together, their dogs, Sir Thibodeau "Tibby" and Susi.

Mr. Bone was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Yess Bone, who died in 1977 and by a sister, Gertrude Blaisdell.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth Raymond Lagasse of Portsmouth, N.H.; two stepdaughters, Wendy A. and husband, Ricky Felch, of South Berwick, Maine, and Sherrie L. and husband, James Frisone, of Windham, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one niece.

BONE - Raymond H. Bone of Organug Road, York, Maine, died Oct. 11, 2002. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Lucas and Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York. Louis F. Pento

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Louis F. Pento, 77, of 126 State St., were held Monday Oct. 7, 2002.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Church by Rev. Agapit Jean.

The readings were given by his grandchildren Colleen Haydon and David Pento.

A poem was read after communion by granddaughter Christine Haydon-Jung.

Burial was in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery with Rev. Jean conducting the committal.

Pallbearers were Adam Pento, David Pento, Joe Roberge, Bill Roberge, Norman Cloutier, and Tony Santos.

Anne H. Tiebout

PORTSMOUTH - Anne H. Tiebout, 77, of 245 Middle St., died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a short illness.

Born May 11, 1925, she was the daughter of Maurice Harman and Amanda Ransdell Harman of Baltimore.

She graduated with honors from Wellesley College in 1947, majoring in theater and English literature. She then studied with and graduated from the Pasadena Playhouse, and completed three seasons of summer stock at Plymouth, Pasadena, and Newport. Anne went on pursue her goal of working in the acting profession under her stage name of Anne Harman, performing both on stage as well as film and television in the 1950s and 1960s, including "Divorce Court," "Gunsmoke," "Studio One," "Suspense," "Front Page," and "Hollywood Screen Test." During the early part of her career, her lead work in TV commercials in New York City helped maintain family finances.

The family lived for a time in Los Angeles, where she did most of her work in television. After returning to New York City, Anne had roles as an extra in film and stage. Her last role was appearing as an extra in the 1977 movie "The Turning Point" staring Shirley Maclaine, Anne Bancroft, and Mikhail Barishnikov.

Mrs. Tiebout moved from New York City to Portsmouth in 1996 to be near her son Stephen Tiebout of South Berwick. She quickly made contacts with the regional entertainment industry, where she did volunteer work for the Prescott Park Arts Festival, and most recently was employed at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre right up to the time of her illness. Her life was defined by the stage and acting profession, and she had an encyclopedic knowledge of film and personalities in the acting field.

She is survived by her son Stephen R. Tiebout, his wife, Julia R., and her grandchildren Andrew F. Tiebout and Timothy R. Tiebout of South Berwick, Maine.

TIEBOUT - Anne H. Tiebout, 77, of 245 Middle St., died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002. Memorial Donations in her name may be made to the Seacoast Repertory Theatre, 125 Bow Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801. A private service will be held later this Fall at the Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements. Carol S. Beckwith

RYE - Carol S. (Starbard) Beckwith, 65, of Rye, formerly of Reading, Mass., died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born in Boston on July 4, 1937, to the late Clifton A. and Janice B. (Cook) Starbard. She graduated from Melrose (Mass.) High School with the Class of 1955, and attended Boston University.

A lifelong Democrat, Carol spent much of her adult life involved in political activity and humanistic causes. She was a member of the library board of trustees and a Town Meeting member in Reading for many years. She was a member of the Reading Library Building Committee and took great pride that the creation of a new library from a decommissioned school came in on time and under budget.

When Carol and her husband moved to the seaside community they had vacationed in for 25 years, she again became involved in civic affairs, assisting in the information campaign for the building expansion of Rye Junior High School and serving as a supervisor of the checklist.

Following in the footsteps of her fifth great-uncle, the Rev. William Bentley, diarist of Salem, Mass., Carol’s occupation involved writing and editing. As a free-lancer, she copy edited textbooks and trade publications for all the major Boston publishers, in addition to news reporting for the Reading Chronicle when she lived in Reading.

After her move to Rye in 1994, she worked in the Hampton office of the Hampton Union, and with her husband produced the town of Rye newsletter.

In addition to her husband of 41 years, John (Jack) Beckwith of Rye, she is survived by her sons, Geoffrey C. Beckwith and wife, Drucilla, of Reading, and Derek Beckwith of Watertown, Mass.; her daughter, Jennifer Lemoine and husband, Brooke, of Merrimack, N.H.; grandchildren, Nikole and Kerry Beckwith of Newburyport, Mass., Calley and Sam Beckwith of Reading, and Matthew and Kendra Lemoine of Merrimack; brother, Craig B. Starbard of Sandwich, Mass.; nephew, Scott Starbard of Sandwich; and niece, Kimberly Kalweit of Mashpee, Mass.

BECKWITH - Carol S. (Starbard) Beckwith, 65, of Rye, formerly of Reading, Mass., died Oct. 11, 2002. Norman F. DesRoches

NOKOMIS, Fla. - Norman F. "Skip" DesRoches 70, of Nokomis, Fla. died Oct. 7, 2002. He was born Oct. 2, 1932, in Exeter, and retired to Nokomis in 1987 from Hampton Falls. He was an electrician (Local 490). A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 159 in Venice, Fla. He was also a member of Epiphany Cathedral in Venice.

Survivors include his wife, June; his father, Raymond, of Rochester, N.H.; daughters Bonnie of Cornish, Maine, and Polly of Jonesboro, Ga.; sons Christopher of Dayton, Ohio, and Matthew of Farmington, N.H.; sisters Lorraine Schnarr of Augusta, Wis., Claire Audette of Brentwood, N.H., and Marilyn Adcock of Osseo, Wis.; a brother, Richard, of Dover, and nine grandchildren.

DESROCHES - Norman F. "Skip" DesRoches 70, of Nokomis, Fla. died Oct. 7, 2002. A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at St Michael’s Church in Exeter. Ronald E. Grace

ATCO, N.J. - Ronald E. Grace, 87, of The Fountains at Cedar Park, Atco, formerly of Tavares, Fla., and Sanford, Maine, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002. Previously he lived in Westmont, N.J., and Kittery, Maine.

He was an insurance adjustor for American International Group, retiring in 1980 after 46 years of employment. He was a captain in the Army during World War II, was awarded the Bronze Star and retired as a lieutenant colonel in the reserves. He was a member of the Reserve Officers Association and the F&AM in Portsmouth, N.H. He was master Mason of Naval Lodge No. 184.

He was the husband of the late Minerva P. (Pratt).

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Craft and her husband, Edwin, of Cherry Hill; grandchildren, Jennifer Craft of Lindenwold, and Jeffrey Craft (Christine) of Wilmington, N.C.; and a sister, Shirley Williams of Kittery, Maine.

GRACE - Ronald E. Grace, 87, of The Fountains at Cedar Park, Atco, N.J., formerly of Tavares, Fla., and Sanford, Maine, died Oct. 9, 2002. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, 10-11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home, Route 73 south and Evesham Road, Marlton, N.J., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Entombment in Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, N.J. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 11000 Lincoln Drive West, Suite 7, Marlton, N.J. 08053. Barbara J. Stevens

GONIC - Barbara J. Stevens, 55, of 20 Reagan Drive died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Born July 21, 1947, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Ruth (McCullen) Mabey Sr. of Portsmouth. She had resided in this area since 1967 and worked for many years at Davidson Rubber Co. in Farmington. Most recently, she worked at Palmer-Chouinard Co.

She was a member of the cancer support group at Frisbie Hospital.

She was the wife of Douglas Stevens.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Katie; a son, Jeffrey; her granddaughter, Emerson; brothers, Frank Mabey and his wife Dawn of Colchester, Conn., James Mabey and his wife Geneve of Bull Head City, Ariz., and Richard Mabey and his wife Patricia of York, Maine; stepchildren, Alan and Jimmy; five stepgrandchildren, Codi, Willy, Chris, Jamin and Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.

STEVENS - Barbara J. Stevens, 55, of 20 Reagan Drive, died Oct. 12, 2002. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, with the Rev. William Shafer officiating. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery, Franklin Street, Rochester. Nancy Caci

HAMPTON - Nancy Caci, 67, of 51 Hampton Meadows, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at the Exeter Hospital after a long, courageous battle with scleroderma.

She was born in Hanson, Mass., on Nov. 21, 1934, a daughter of the late Frederico and Antonette (Vozzella) DeMinico of Winchester, Mass.

She graduated from Winchester High School and resided there until 1966, when she moved to Hampton.

She loved gardening and baking and spent many hours doing so, much to her family’s appreciation. The beach was one of her favorite places to be, and her family would walk the boardwalk as often as possible.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton, and was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Ladies of Sodality Bereavement Support Group.

She was the wife of Ben Caci for 41 years.

In addition to her husband, family members include two daughters, Linda Caci-DiBernardo and her husband, Robert, of Greenland, and Marie N. Caci of Quincy, Mass.; one brother, John F. DeMinico of Winchester, Mass.; one sister, Lena DeMinico of Winchester, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Mike DeMinico; and two sisters, Josephine Rallo and Theresa Grieco.

CACI - Nancy Caci, 67, of 51 Hampton Meadows, Hampton, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.
