PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred L. "Ma" (Spinney) Pizz, 78, of 1600 Islington St., were held from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth, Thursday, with graveside services held at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth..

The Rev. Dawn A. Shippee, pastor of the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth, officiated. In attendance were members of the North Congregational Church.

Bearers were Frances Spinney, Russell Brightman, Richie Stanley Pizz, Jr., Stephen Pizz, Chris Pizz, and Albie Mahan. Honorary bearers were Tyler Brown, Justen Brown, Jacob Pizz and Nicholas Pizz.

Evelyn Neukom

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Evelyn Neukom, 94, of Portsmouth, were held at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, in Portsmouth, on Thursday. The Rev. Dawn A. Shippee, pastor of the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth, officiated. In attendance were members of the North Congregational Church.

Burial was in Central Cemetery, Rye, with committal services by Rev. Shippee.

Arthur Argereow Jr.

PORTSMOUTH - Arthur "Bing" Argereow Jr., 84, died Nov. 15, 2002, at the York Hospital in Maine.

A native and lifelong resident of Portsmouth, he was born on July 11, 1918, a son of the late Arthur and Elsie (Cammett) Argereow.

He attended Portsmouth schools and was employed for more than 25 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a devoted family man who in his spare time enjoyed such outdoor activities as boating, fishing and gardening. He also formerly played drums for big-band era musical groups.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irene (Parcell) Argereow of Portsmouth; one daughter, Kimberly Argereow of Portsmouth; one son, Stephen Argereow of Andover, Mass.; one granddaughter, April McFalls of Smithfield, N.C.; six sisters, Margaret Dominguez of Portsmouth, Elaine Stoyka of New York, N.Y., Mary Lasel of Sacramento, Calif., Anita Crowe of Rollinsford, Catherine Chase of Kittery, Maine, and Barbara Wood of Ridgeville, S.C.; three brothers, Clyde Argereow of Portsmouth, Woodbury Argereow of Portsmouth, and Frederick Argereow of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Kafka.

Private services were held by the family. Arrangements were made by Brewitt Funeral Home, 8 Pleasant St., Epping.

Memorial donations may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation of New Hampshire, 66 Hanover St., Suite 101, Manchester, NH 03101.

Viola B. Blaisdell

NAPLES, Maine - Viola Blanche Bradstreet Blaisdell, 86, died Sunday morning at the Bridgton Health Care Center. She was born in Roxbury, Mass., a daughter of the Rev. Alfred T. and Dora L. Beers Bradstreet.

She had been a beautician in the Ogunquit and York area for 45 years before moving to Naples in 1978. Years ago she did volunteer work as a nurse’s aide in York Hospital. Before becoming disabled, she cared for many family members and friends who were in need. Upon moving to Maine she became a volunteer at the Naples Public Library, as she had an exceptional appreciation for literature and loved serving the public. She also worked several summers as a hostess for the Naples Information Center. She had been a member of Beech Ridge Assembly of God Church in York, Living Waters Fellowship in Naples and the Cornerstone Gospel Church in Naples.

She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Kenneth H. Blaisdell, who died in 1979.

Surviving are son Peter S. Blaisdell of North Hampton, N.H.; her daughter, Norma Merriam of Naples; her brother, Philip Bradstreet of Limington; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

BLAISDELL - Viola Blanche Bradstreet Blaisdell, 86, of Naples Maine, died Sunday. Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road, Casco, Maine, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gideons, c/o William Severence, 195 Butters Hill Road, Stoneham, ME 04231.

Lionel R. Sirois

GREENLAND - Lionel R. Sirois, 87, of 529 Portsmouth Ave., died Saturday, Nov., 16, 2002, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born in Van Buren, Maine, on May 30,1915, he was the son of Levite and Catherine (Cormier) Sirois and had been a resident here for the past 37 years.

He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was employed as a union carpenter with Local 921, retiring in 1971. He was a member of St. James Church in Portsmouth.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Belmyre (Marquis) Sirois; two daughters, Lorraine Sweeney of Greenland, formerly of Norwell, Mass., and Patricia Sirois of Abington, Mass.; five grandchildren, Patricia Laffin of Norwell, Mass, Eileen Sweeney of Greenland, Anne Gurecki of Stratham, Stephen Sweeney of Norwell, Mass., and Kevin Sweeney of Norwell, Mass.; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Sirois of Van Buren, Maine, and Leo Sirois of Millinocket, Maine; a sister, Geraldine Morris of Van Buren, Maine; and three foster children, Rena Croteau of Eliot, Maine, Nora Parady of Milton, and Louise Pelletier of Arizona.

He was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, Martha Bouchard, Rosarie Sirois, Emmanuel Sirois, Come Sirois, Lucille Carbonneau, and Jeannette Sirois.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. James Church, Route 1, Portsmouth. Visiting hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St. Portsmouth.

EATON - Herbert Eaton, 81, of Lions Mouth Road, Amesbury, Mass., husband of Lillian J. (Rock) Eaton, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport, Mass., followed by interment in the American Legion lot at Union Cemetery, Amesbury. Calling hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mark’s Lodge of Newburyport will conduct Masonic services at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.

FRISBEE - Ann Mae Frisbee, 80, of 72 Langdon St., Portsmouth, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002. Visiting hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Family flowers only please. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Margaret "Maggie" (Myers) Bruce

GLASTONBURY, Conn. - Margaret "Maggie" (Myers) Bruce, 87, formerly of Durham, N.H., wife of the late Duncan Bruce Jr., died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002.

Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rawdon W. Myers of West Hartford, Conn., she was a graduate of Smith College and Tufts University.

Among her survivors are her daughter, Susan Bruce of Bolton, Conn.; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Bruce of Conway, Mass.; her sisters, Emily McArthur of Birmingham, Ala., Lonny Myers of Boulder, Colo., and Eleanor Martini of Tiberon, Calif.; and a cousin and her husband, Alexandra and Walter S. Carrell Jr. of Millington, N.J.

BRUCE - Margaret ("Maggie") Bruce, 87, died Oct. 21, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at the Dover Friends Meetinghouse, 141 Central Ave., Dover. For more information, contact Charlotte Fardelmann, 436-7652. Donations may be made in her memory to the Dover Friends Meeting House in Dover.

Charles E. Serveiss Sr.

HAMPTON FALLS - Charles E. Serveiss Sr., 48, of 27 Victoria Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at the Exeter Hospital.

He was born in Oceanside, N.Y., on Aug. 11, 1954, a son of Ludvina (Backauskas) "Lee" Serveiss of Colorado Springs, Colo., and the late John T. Serveiss.

He was a graduate of Maria Regina High School in New York and the University of New Haven, New Haven, Conn. He was employed as a mechanical engineer in the Riverworks Plant of General Electric Corporation, Lynn, Mass., in the aircraft engine division for 21 years.

He had lived in Hampton Falls for the past eight years, having moved from Stratham. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, was active as a Little League coach with the Hampton Youth Association, enjoyed being the sports announcer for the St. Thomas Aquinas High School hockey team and was a former treasurer of the Elfun Society, a charitable organization affiliated with the General Electric Corp.

In addition to his mother, family members include his wife of 21 years, Marie A. (Sano) Serveiss of Hampton Falls; two sons, Charles E. Serveiss II and Kurt R. Serveiss, both of Hampton Falls; one brother, Gregory J. Serveiss of Monument, Colo.; one sister, Mary Lee Martens of Cortland, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and aunts.

SERVEISS - Charles E. Serveiss Sr., 48, of 27 Victoria Drive, Hampton Falls, died Nov. 17, 2002. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. A reception will immediately follow at The Inn of Hampton, 815 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The family requests there be no visiting hours and that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations in his memory may be made for the benefit of students to St. Thomas Aquinas High School, 197 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH 03820. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

GREENLAND - Lionel R. Sirois 87, of 529 Portsmouth Ave., died Saturday Nov. 16, 2002, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Dharani Ishaya

HAMPTON - Dharani Ishaya, 54, of 7 Emerald Lane, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at her home.

She was born on Sept. 4, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Okla., a daughter of Robert J. and Kathryn (Bowers) Penney of Casper, Wyo.

She was raised in Casper and attended the University of Wyoming. She moved to Seattle, Wash., where she worked as a medical transcriptionist for the University of Washington. She had resided in Hampton for the past three years, where she was employed as a nanny to Isabelle and Sophia Indelicato of Hampton.

In addition to her parents, family members include her husband, Balarama Ishaya of Hampton; two brothers, George R. Penney of Eagle, Idaho, and Michael L. Penney of Edwards, Wash.

A sister, Susan C. Penney-Porter, predeceased her.

ISHAYA - Dharani Ishaya, 54, of 7 Emerald Lane, Hampton, died Nov. 17, 2002. Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Hampton, NH 03842. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Hector P. Dionne

PORTSMOUTH - Hector P. Dionne, 85, of Langdon Place, formerly of Rye, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation of Portsmouth.

He was born in Madawaska, Maine, on Sept. 9, 1917, the son of the late Paul and Alice (Ouclaire) Dionne.

He was a graduate of Madawaska High School and of the Dunwoody Institute of Baking in Minneapolis, Minn. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

A well-known restaurateur, he and his wife founded and owned and operated the former Black Lantern Restaurant in Marlborough from 1952 to 1977. He later opened Hector’s Country Kitchen in Rye, which they operated until retiring in 1984.

He resided in the Keene area for many years before moving to Rye. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newington, American Legion Post #8 of Dover, the N.H. Hospitality Association and the American Restaurant Association.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie M. (Scott) Dionne of Portsmouth; two sons, Robert P. Dionne of Newmarket and David K. Dionne of Madbury; two daughters, Mary Ann Dionne of Medford, Mass., and Susan M. Blake of Acworth and Misawa, Japan; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

DIONNE - Hector P. Dionne, 84, of Langdon Place, Portsmouth, formerly of Rye, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002. Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Fox Run Road, Newington. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. After cremation, burial will be in the Central Cemetery, Rye.

Edgar Holmes

KITTERY POINT, Maine - Edgar Holmes, formerly of Boston, Mass., died Nov. 18, 2002, leaving his wife, Jean, and nieces and nephews here and in England.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II. To be remembered always.

HOLMES - Edgar Holmes, of Kittery Point, Maine, died Nov. 18, 2002. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine, with the Rev. Gordon Allen officiating. Sandra Zelie Mulinos

RYE - Sandra Zelie Mulinos, 71, died at Clover Health Care in Auburn, Maine, on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002.

Born on Feb. 17, 1931, in Plainfield, N.J., she was the only child of John Sheridan Zelie and Charlotte Spencer Zelie of Pinehurst, N.C. She was married to Robert F. Dunn in Pinehurst, N.C., in May of 1953. They were divorced in 1961. She then married Stephen M. Mulinos in Pinehurst, N.C., in December of 1962. They were divorced in 1995.

Five children and seven grandchildren survive her: a son, John Michael Dunn, of Auburn, Maine; a daughter, Patricia Sheridan Dunn, and son-in-law Victor Iago Morrison and their children, Park Chandler Dunn-Morrison and Zelie Elizabeth Dunn-Morrison, of Hinesburg, Vt.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Dunn Spaner and Robert L. Spaner, of Gloucester, Mass.; a son and daughter-in-law, Philip Stephen Mulinos and Maria Rodriguez Mulinos, and their children, Alyssa Joyce Mulinos and Michael Philip Mulinos, of Salisbury, Md.; and a daughter, Stephanie Mulinos LaLonde and her children, Alex Michael LaLonde, Nicholas Merle LaLonde and Megan Katharine Sandra LaLonde, of Dryden, N.Y.

She held a membership in the Silver Foils at The Pinehurst Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C., was a charter member of the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C., and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mensa and the Episcopal Church.

She was a direct descendant of Daniel Boone. As a young girl in Plainfield, N.J., she took piano lessons and gave recitals and attended the Hartridge School. Her family moved to Pinehurst, N.C., where she rode in horse shows, played golf and wrote a junior column for the local paper, The Pilot. She finished high school at the National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C., graduating in 1948. She attended both Sweetbriar College in Virginia and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a valued accountant, keeping books for many businesses while raising her family. She had many talents and hobbies, including building furniture, flying aircraft, sailing the open sea, playing bridge, cooking, writing poetry, N.Y. Times crossword puzzles, small-engine repair, soap operas, gardening and travel. She will be affectionately remembered for her bright, energetic, funny, adventurous and independent spirit. Her bright light will shine on in all.

MULINOS - Sandra Zelie Mulinos, 71, of Rye, died on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002. The family will hold a memorial service and burial in August 2003 on Pond Island off Milbridge in Downeast Maine, where she spent many summers throughout her life. The family will have the remains cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Seacoast Hospice.

Arno Fleisher

PORTSMOUTH - Arno Fleisher, 87, formerly of Lewiston, Maine, and Lake Worth, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at the home of his son, Andrew Fleisher, in Portsmouth.

He was born on May 28, 1915, in Wurtzburg, Germany, and came to the United States in 1939.

In 1957, he started Arno Moccasin Company in Lewiston, Maine, and continued to successfully manufacture shoes for more than 25 years, employing 300 workers at the company’s height.

He married the former Ethel Merson on Oct. 6, 1942, and enjoyed a lasting marriage until her death in January of 2001.

They had two sons, Kenneth and Andrew, but were predeceased by Kenny’s untimely death in 1995 at the age of 46.

He will be missed by his son Andrew and his wife, Greer (Redding), and their daughters, Katie and Samantha; as well as Kenneth’s wife, Elyce (Wasserman), and their son, Jordan.

FLEISHER - Arno Fleisher, 87, formerly of Lewiston, Maine, and Lake Worth, Fla., died Nov. 19, 2002. Burial will be with The Fortin Group in Auburn, Maine, at Congregation Beth Abraham Cemetery on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002.
