Always deeply spiritual, at 50, Doris began her second career, boldly traveling by herself to Boston for undergraduate and graduate level course work in pastoral ministry. She was on the dean’s list every semester, and received a M.A. in pastoral counseling and certification in pastoral ministry from Emmanuel College. Doris often lectured on the life review process to enable others to participate in this wonderful process. She took care to bring women’s issues to the forefront of all that she did.

Doris knew how to be "present’" to others in a special and intuitive way for which her family, co-workers, and residents/patients loved her for.
