Delia L. Chase

New Port Richey, Florida Delia L. Chase, 88 formerly of 7 Cemetery Road, Somersworth, NH died Saturday January 30, 2004 in New Port Richey after a long illness.

Delia was born in Laconia, NH and was the daughter of George and Delia (Lessard) LaPierre. Before her retirement she had been employed as a surgical nurse and had worked for several Physicians' Offices.

While a resident of Somersworth, Delia was very active in the community. She was a Communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church. She also held membership with the Somersworth Historical Society and the Somersworth Golden Age Club.

She was also very active in the community of New Port Richey where she held membership with the VFW Aux. Post 7987, The Veterans Village Activities Association, Seven Springs Civic Association, The Five Lees Dramatic Club and was also a member of the Ladies Guild of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Mrs. Chase was an avid Golf Enthusiast and held membership with Sunningdale Golf Club of Somersworth and V.V. Golf Club of New Port Richey.

Delia was predeceased by her husband Chester Chase who died in 1978 and byher sister Delma Colby who died in 2000.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth, NH. The Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Olympia "Bea" Jones

SOMERSWORTH-Olympia "Bea" Jones, 80, of 163 Main St., died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Dover Rehab and Living Center.

Born in Dover, November 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Stella (Demopoulos) Melitus.

A resident since 1962, she moved here from Dover. She was a graduate of Dover High School and worked for many years as a packing room supervisor at Miller Shoe Company of Dover.

"Bea" was a communicant of Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of Somersworth.

She was a member of AARP.

Family members include her son, James "Jimmy" Jones of Kingston; one brother, James Melitus of Barefoot Bay, FL; three sisters, Dinah Marouthis of Somersworth, Mary Valoras of Somersworth and Helen Valhos of Somersworth; two grandsons, Jess Jones and Jacob Jones , both of Kingston; nieces and nephews.

Eva Rose LePage

Berwick, Maine Eva Rose LePage, 83, of 15 Collins Lane died Thursday January 29, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Dover, NH. Eva was born on August 15, 1920 in Rollinsford, NH and was the daughter of Emile and Melinda (Lacasse) Joncas. She was raised in Rollinsford and had been a resident of Berwick for the last 25 years.

Prior to her retirement, Eva had been employed in area shoe shops including Miller Shoe Co. During WW II she was employed with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Somersworth Plant in the electrical division.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church where she held membership in the Ladies of St. Ann. Eva was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 47 of Rollinsford.

Family members include her sons, Pete LePage and his wife Peg of Franklin, NH and Daniel LePage and his wife Debra of Berwick, Maine. Two daughters, Elaine Bonnell and her husband John and Patricia Collins and her husband Gary, all of Berwick, Maine.

She leaves a brother Paul Joncas of Rollinsford, NH and a sister, Rhenda Pinkham of Rochester, NH. 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers Roland, Richard and Gerard Joncas. Her husband Armand J. Lepage predeceased her in 1972.

Burial will be in New Town Cemetery, Rollinsford, NH in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to: The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720. Folders are available at the funeral home.

Russell T. Malone

Somersworth, NH - Russell Thomas Malone, 65 of 127 Indigo Hill Road, died Thursday January 29, 2004 at his residence after a period of declining health.

Russell was born in New Haven CT. on December 29, 1938 and was the son of Walter and Estelle (Walczak) Malone. He was raised in New Haven attending schools in that community. Russell had been a resident of Somersworth for the past 3 years.

Mr. Malone served with the United States Air Force during peacetime from 1956 to 1960. Prior to his retirement, Russell had been employed with Marlin Firearms of N. Haven CT. as an Industrial Engineer.

Russell thoroughly enjoyed fishing, and loved the opportunity to cook.

Family members include his wife of 42 years, Jill (Turcotte) Malone of Somersworth, three sons, Gary Malone and his wife Ivory of Somersworth, Edmund Malone and his wife Elaine of Phoenix, AZ. and Matthew Malone of Rochester. He leaves two daughters, Jennifer Malone of Branford, CT and Marianne Lewis and her husband Robert of Somersworth. A brother, Walter Malone Jr. of N. Branford, CT and a sister, Mariane McFarland of Northford, CT. six grandchildren.

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth.

Alberta Carignan

SOMERSWORTH - Alberta Carignan, 91, formerly of 63 Maple St., died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover after a period of failing health. At the time of her death, she was living at the Wadleigh House in Dover.

She was born in Somersworth on Aug. 31, 1912, the daughter of Adjutor and Georgianna (Filion) Plante.

She attended St. Martin Academy in Somersworth.

She is survived by five children, Mrs. Irene Rouleau and her husband, Richard, of Marco Island, Fla.; Mrs. Diana Bounds and her husband, Rick, of Portsmouth; Mr. Roger Vachon and his wife, Jean, of Lebanon; Mrs. Annette Snook and her husband, John, of Worcester, Mass.; and Mrs. Muriel Bilodeau and her husband, Dan, of Barrington; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice Carignan of Somersworth.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Mr. Alfred Vachon, who died in 1973; Mr. Ernest Merz, who died in 1981, and Mr. Charles Carignan, who died in 1989.

August A. Dube

August A. "Gus" Dube, 86, of 16 Indigo Hill Rd. died Saturday March 27, 2004 at his home after a period of failing health.

Born in South Berwick, Maine on October 28, 1917 the son of Joseph and Roseanna (Lepage) Dube. He grew up and attended schools in Rollinsford and moved to Somersworth in 1955.

He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II having served with Dover Battery "B", 3rd BN, 197th FA Group. He was a member of the Rollinsford Post #47, American Legion.

August was a Class "A" tool & die maker and retired form the General Electric Company in Somersworth. He was an avid gardener and his other interests included photography, airplane pilot, scuba diving, motorcycles, hunting, and fishing and was also a musician.

He was a generous and loving man who enjoyed people. He always put out a helping hand and will be missed.

He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years Claire G. (Paradis) Dube, a son and his wife Leonard and Marguerite Dube of Exton, PA; a daughter and her husband Monique Simone and Richard Savasta of Carmichael, CA, six grandchildren Jenifer M. Savasta and Christopher R. Savasta both of Carmichael, CA, Christopher M. Dube, Nicholas P. Dube, Lauren Roth and Jonathan Roth all of Exton, PA. He also leaves two brothers Lionel Dube of Rochester, Brother Richard Dube, C.F.A. of St. Louis, MO, three sisters Lucia Fournier of Dover, Loretta Ouellette of Manchester, Rachael "Edna" Morin of Alton, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral arrangements are by the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main St., South Berwick, ME.

James Gorman

Somersworth - James Gorman, 81, of 122 High Street, died Tuesday March 30, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover after a period of failing health.

James was born in Sanford, Maine on October 21, 1922 and was the son of Michael and Matilda (Tanguay) Gorman. He was raised in Sanford and was educated in the Sanford School System.

Mr. Gorman had been a resident of Somersworth for nearly 30 years. He was a master licensed plumber and had been employed before his retirement with Cyro of Sanford, Maine. He had also worked ten years with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a pipe fitter.

James was a former member of the Somersworth Lions Club and the Rochester Elks #1393. He enjoyed fixing things, a true handyman. While he was staying at the Riverside Resthome he would often fix wheelchairs for other nursing residents or other items needing repair at the nursing home.

Family members include his wife of 22 years, Virginia (Sarna) Gorman of Somersworth. A son Fred Godbout and his wife April of Milton and a daughter Barbara Wilson and her husband Leonard of Nashua. Other family members include two sisters, Mrs. John (Gladys) Touchette of Sanford, Maine and Gertrude Tumblin of Lebanon, Maine. 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother Albert Gorman.

Carolyn M. Murray

Dover, NH - Carolyn M. Murray, 39, of 708 Central Ave., died Friday February 27, 2004 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

Born in Worcester, MA on December 11, 1964 the daughter of Charles W. and Ann F. (Donoghue) Murray. She was a 1982 graduate of Burncoat Senior High School and received her Associate's Degree from the Quinsigamond Community College both in Worcester and her Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH.

She moved to Dover from Worcester in 1990 and has been employed in the accounting department at Liberty Mutual.

Carolyn was a communicant of St. Mary Church.

She is survived by her parents Charles W. and Ann F. Murray of Somersworth, two sons Timothy R. Murray of Dover, Thomas J. Murray and his wife Jessica of Somersworth, infant daughter Kayla M. Murray of Dover, a sister Mary F. Murray of Somersworth, a brother Rev. Pius C.W. Murray, C.S.S. of White Plains, NY and her former husband Timothy R. Tripaldi with whom she lived.

In lieu of flowers memorials in her name may be made to an education fund being established for her daughter Kayla, C/O Mr. & Mrs. C. W. Murray, 17 Guy St. Somersworth, NH 03878.

Richard A. Jacques

Berwick, Maine - Richard A. Jacques, 75 of 34 Sawmill Hill Road died quietly at his home on Thursday July 22, 2004 after a period of failing health in the presence of his family. Richard was the last of 13 children, born November 30th 1928 in Somersworth, NH. He was the son of Augustine E. and Anna (Plante) Jacques. Richard was raised in Somersworth and was a graduate of St. Martin Academy. He lived in Berwick for over 55 years with his wife Mary (Tarr). Together they raised 10 children.

Richard was retired from the PNSY in 1989 where he worked for 10 years, before that he worked for Robert’s Shoe in Somersworth, NH for 27 years. He was also employed for a time with Boulanger Paving Co.

Mr. Jacques was an active communicant of St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Somersworth all of his life. He loved his wife, children and grand children very much. He also enjoyed taking long rides nightly with his daughter Linda to go and visit other family members. Richard loved to read the Bible, work in his garden, listen to Gospel music and take care of his bird feeders. Our father will be remembered as a loving husband and father with a great sense of humor, kind heart and gentle smile. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Family members include his remaining 9 children; Robert A Jacques and his wife Connie, Alfred J. Jacques and his wife Susan all of South Berwick, Linda J. Jacques of Berwick, David A. Jacques and wife Kathleen of Lebanon, Richard J. (Ben) Jacques and his wife Murielle of Berwick, Darlene M. Irons of Somersworth, Elizabeth A. Maker of Berwick, Michael J. Jacques and his wife Catherine of Berwick and Lisa A Scarborough and her husband Michael of Bremington, WA; 20 grandchildren and nine great grand children and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard was predeceased by all of his brothers and sisters. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Diane M. Haines, who died in 1989. His wife Mary (Tarr) Jacques predeceased him in March 2003.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 360 State Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032.

Kenneth K. Luscomb

Somersworth, NH -Kenneth K. Luscomb, Sr., 74, husband of Rosemary “Pat” (Vigneault) Luscomb, of 6 Crystal Springs Mobile Home Park, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. He lost a courageous battle of failing health and kidney failure with his wife of 30 years and loving children at his side.

Kenneth was born in Lynn, MA October 21, 1929 the son of Arthur W. and Helen (Thompson) Luscomb. Following the death of his father he was raised by his mother and his stepfather, Fred Drew of Brookfield, NH. He attended local schools and grew up in Brookfield. He then moved to Milton Mills where he lived for 30 years, He worked at local businesses, New England Lumber Co., Hurd’s Lumber Co., twenty five years at Green Tannery and 30 years at Clarostat Manufacturing of Dover from where he retired in 1990. Besides being a loving husband and father, he loved going out in his boat fishing, and he hunted when he was able. He belonged to the Milton Mills Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed building model wooden airplanes and wood working. He was an avid race car fan. He also loved visiting with people and telling a good story. Kenneth touched the hearts of so many people with kindness, love , his personality, smile and a firm handshake.

Family members include his loving wife Rosemary “Pat” (Vigneault) Luscomb of Somersworth;the girls, Penny and Mandie; his five loving children, Helen Glennon and her husband Wesley of Bonita Springs, FL, Karen Ryan and her husband Joseph of East Wakefield, Kenneth Luscomb, Jr., of Bonita Springs, FL, Cindy and her husband Thomas Maier of Wicky Wachie, FL, and Wanda Holmes and her husband John of Rollinsford; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Paul and her husband Kenneth of Sanbornville, Heather Feddern and her husband Mark of Chocorua, Michelle Glaude of Rochester, Tammy Mooney of Rochester, Joshua Luscomb of Loudon, Jodi Luscomb of Dover, Julie Luscomb of Ossipee, David “D.J.” Crawford, Jr. of Portsmouth, Amy Crawford of East Wakefield, Christopher Luscomb of Sanford, ME, Chantel Holmes of Rollinsford, and Kurt Holmes of Rollinsford; nine great grandchildren, Heather and Kenneth Paul of Sanbornville, Zachery Feddern and Megan Feddern of Chocorua, Krystal Atkinson of Rochester, Matthew and Kendra Fogg of Rochester, Brittany Cormier of Rochester, and Alexis Mooney of Rochester; two great great grandchildren, Cooper Luscomb of Dover and Kennedie Luscomb of Sanford.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Marjorie Viollette.

Agnes Sheldon

Somersworth, NH - Agnes Loretta Sheldon 82 yrs a resident of Tri City Road Somersworth, NH formerly of Berwick, Me died Monday July 12, 2004 at the Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH after a long illness.

She was born in Brookfield Center, CT. on February 21, 1922 a daughter of William Francis and Agnes Camilla (McKenna) Hollace. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Dover.

She was a homemaker for most of her life.

Agnes enjoyed travel and spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her brother William Hollace and her sister Eleanor Metivier.

She is survived by her husband of 63 yrs Lester Sheldon of Somersworth, NH., two sons Lester J. Sheldon of Kittery, Me and Lawrence E. Sheldon of Denver, CO. A daughter Doreen A. Rembert of Portland, ME and 5 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick, Me.

Eileen E. Bennett

Eileen E. Bennett, 86, of 329 Main St. died Sunday May 11, 2003 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover following a lengthy illness.

Eileen was born in South Berwick, Me Feb. 9, 1917 the daughter of Arthur and Annie (Dooley) Blake. She was educated in South Berwick Schools and had attended Berwick Academy.

On July 30, 1935 she married David Bennett, they resided in South Berwick and Berwick for many years. Later they moved to Rochester, and for the past 20 years they lived with their son in Somersworth.

For most of her working career she was a supervisor of the packing room in area shoe factories.

Eileen was a Communicant of Holy Trinity Church. She had been a member of the Knights of Pythias, South Berwick Grange, Somersworth Woman's Garden Club, the Rochester Organ Club, and the Pocahontas and Rebecca's.

Eileen was very active in the affairs of her Parishes during her life making items for church fairs and teaching religion classes in the South Berwick Baptist Church.

Eileen was predeceased by 2 brothers Walton and Kenneth Blake and a sister Avis Blake.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years David Bennett of Somersworth, a son Thomas Bennett and his wife Betty. A daughter Deborah Anderson and her husband Bill of Berwick, ME. 7 grandchildren, Dale Bennett of Cave Creek, AZ, Eric Bennett of Somersworth, Mark Bennett of Sunnyvale, CA, Scott Paradis of Springvale, ME, Sandy Paradis of Seabrook, NH Beth Paradis Nudd of Stratham, NH, and Tom Paradis of Dover, NH. 7 Great-grandchildren T.J. Elias, Ken York, Mike Bennett, Dakodah Paradis, Adrianna Paradis, Tanner Paradis, And Jennaleah Paradis, Nieces and nephews.
