Anita Dubois

Somersworth - Anita Dubois 79, formerly of 5 Turgeon Lane died Monday May 5, 2003 at Riverside Rest home, Dover, after a period of failing health.

Anita was born on April 20, 1924 in Somersworth and was the daughter of James and Excia (Croteau) Vincent. She was raised in Somersworth and was a lifelong resident of this community.

Before her retirement, Anita had worked for Roberts Shoe and Somersworth Shoe in the leather room. She also worked for her son as a cook at Paul’s Fish and Chips in Somersworth.

Mrs. Dubois was a communicant of St. Martin Church and was a former member of the St. Anne Sodality. Anita was also a member and past president of the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary. She also held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary.

Family members include her son Paul Dubois of Somersworth. Her two brothers Paul Vincent of Gonic and Leo Vincent of Brunson, SC. 2 Grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several cousins, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by 5 brothers, Albert, Adrien, Lucien, William and Roland Vincent and by a sister Rose Caron. Her husband Euclide “Clyde” Dubois, who she married in 1948, predeceased her in 1978.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH will be on Friday from 6 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:00AM in St. Martin Church. W. High at Maple Street, Somersworth with Rev. Aaron Pfaff, pastor as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to either Seacoast Hospice or to The St. Martin Parish Capital Improvement Fund. For additional information or

Willis P. Gould

Rochester - Willis P. Gould, 71, of 76 Eagle Drive died Thursday May 15, 2003 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover after a long illness.

Willis was born in Rochester on July 6, 1931 and was the son of Willis and Lennie (Harlor) Gould Sr. He was raised in Somersworth and graduated from Somersworth High School Class of 1949. He furthered his education graduating from Macintosh College, Dover, Class of 1951.

Willis was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Air Force. Prior to retirement, He had served as an accountant in the Office of the Comptroller, Pease Air Force Base, Portsmouth with over 34 years of service.

Mr. Gould was a member of the American Legion Post 69 of Somersworth and also held membership in the Somersworth Grange. Willis enjoyed all sports, but especially baseball and the Boston Red Sox.

Family members include his wife Jeannette (Lapointe) Gould of Rochester; His step mother Elsie Hallam of Alton; A son Jon Gould of Somersworth. Two daughters, Mrs. Montgomery Howe of Norwich, CT and Kimberly Gould of Derry. Two stepsons, Robert J. Lefebvre of Somersworth and Michael R. Lefebvre of Rollinsford. Two step daughters Patricia Tyo of Rochester and Mrs. Michael Janet McKay of Rochester. 13 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a half sister Ernestine McNally and by his first wife Anna (Cook) Gould who died in 1989.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Somersworth will be on Monday from 9 to 10:30am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00AM in St. Martin Catholic Church, W. High and Maple Street with Rev. Aaron Pfaff, pastor as celebrant. Burial will follow in Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth. The family respectfully declines flowers. Florence Fortier
Somersworth - Florence Fortier 90, formerly of 214 ½ green Street died
Sunday July 13, 2003 at Dover Rehabilitation and Living center after a
period of failing health.

Florence was born in Providence, RI and was the daughter of Albert and Marie
(Daneault) Frichette. She had been a resident of Somersworth for over 70
years.

Mrs. Fortier was primarily a homemaker but did work for a time at Dover
Shoe. She was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church where she held
membership in the Ladies Guild. Florence was also a past member of the
Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary #1755 of Somersworth.

Family members include 3 sons, Martin Fortier of Indianapolis, Ind., Donald
Fortier of Dover and Ronald Fortier of Milton. 5 daughters, Mrs. Alphonse
(Jeannette) Lapointe, Mrs. Martin (Rachel) Masse, Mrs. Lorraine Porelle,
all of Somersworth. Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Hebert of Sebring Fl., and Mrs.
Edward (Pauline) Adams of Manteca, CA.
2 brothers, Roland Frichette of Somersworth and Rev. Leo Frichette of
Northwood. A sister, Mrs. Leo (Rita) Gagne of Sebring, Fl. 29 Grandchildren
and 35 Great Grand Children. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Fortier
who died in 1991 and by her husband Lucien Fortier who died in 1975.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Somersworth, NH will be on
Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be
concelebrated in St. Martin Catholic Church, W. High at Maple Street on
Thursday at 10:00am with Rev. Leo Frichette, brother of the deceased as
main celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.

Paul E. Roy
Somersworth - Paul E. "Popeye" Roy, 83 formerly of 10 Green Street,
Somersworth, died Sunday July 13, 2003 at Rochester Manor after a period of
failing health.

Paul was born in Somersworth on August 25, 1919 and was the son of Irenee
and Clementine (Jacques) Roy. He was raised in Somersworth attending
schools in the local school system.

A Somersworth resident all of his life, he was employed by the Somersworth
City Highway Department, retiring in 1985.

Family members include his wife of 58 years, Nancy (Therrien) Roy. Two
sons, John Roy and his wife Liz of Somersworth and James Roy and his wife
Nancy of Rochester.
Four daughters, Jeannine Bridgeo and her husband Mike of Somersworth,
Joan Lygren and her husband John of Milton, Judie Huppe of Berwick, Maine
and Jeannette Wilkinson of Dover. A brother Marcel Roy of Somersworth, a
sister Mrs. Fernand Lorraine Bourque of Somersworth. Six grandchildren,
Michelle, Mark, Sara, Emily, Alison and Paul. Three great grandchildren,
Danielle, Shane and Tyler.

He was predeceased by a brother Bertrand Roy.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth will be
on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
on Friday at 10:00am in St. Martin Catholic Church, West High at Maple
Street, with Rev. Aaron Pfaff, pastor as celebrant. Burial will follow in
Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth.

Gilberte Szymkiewicz
Somersworth - Gilberte Szymkiewicz 64 of 620 Sherwood Glen died
Saturday July 19, 2003 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover after a brief
illness.

Gilberte was born in Rochester on August 31, 1938 and was the daughter of
Albani and Jeanne (Laliberte) Chasse. She was raised in Somersworth,
attending St. Martin Academy and Commercial School. She lived for many
years in New York City returning to Somersworth in 1974.

Prior to her retirement, Gilberte had been employed with the New Hampshire
Department of Health and Human Services as a Case Technician, with over 25
years of service.

Family members include her husband of 38 years, Edward Szymkiewicz of
Somersworth, Her twin brother, Gilbert Chasse of Somersworth. Her nieces
and nephews, Michael Chasse of Somersworth, Celeste Favolize of Somersworth,
Melissa Coneys of Dover and Aimiee Edmonds of Brentwood. She was predeceased
by a nephew Chris Chasse who died in 1981.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
in St. Martin Catholic Church, W. High and Maple Streets on Wednesday at
10:00am. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth. The
