Muriel M. Dumais
Coventry, RI - Muriel M. Dumais, 92 of 88 Harwood Rd. died Sunday
January 18, 2004 at the Alpine Nursing Home, Coventry, RI after a period of
failing health.

Muriel was born in Rochester, NH on May 13, 1911 and was the daughter of
Wilfred and Leda (Gilbert) Vincent. She was raised in Rochester, NH
attending public schools and graduated from Rochester High School. She
lived in Rochester for 21 years before moving to Somersworth, NH, Nashua, NH
and N. Kingston, RI where she had lived for the past 17 years. While
living in Somersworth, NH, Muriel was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic
Church.

Mrs. Dumais was a homemaker, she loved her family and her activities
centered on her children and grandchildren.

Family members include two sons, Lee Dumais of Bowie, Maryland and Robert
Dumais of E. Greenwich, RI. 8 grandchildren and 7 great grand children. She
was predeceased by a brother Wilmont Vincent and by her husband Albert
Dumais who died in 1988.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street Somersworth, NH will
be on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial
will follow at 11:30AM in St. Martin Catholic Church, W. High and Maple
Streets, Somersworth with Rev. Aaron Pfaff, pastor as celebrant. Burial
will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.

Earl Palioca

Somersworth - Earle H. Palioca, 90, of 11 Laurier St. and formerly of Kelwyn Drive died Friday January 16, 2004 at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover.

Born in Plymouth, MA on April 17, 1913 the son of Charles and Effie (Black) Palioca and was a former resident of Amsterdam, New York prior to moving here in 1935.

He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of the D.A.V. and the Elks.

Earle was a chemist having worked for the former Cochecho Bottling Co. for 37 years and after his retirement he worked in the Dover High School Cafeteria.

Mr. Palioca was a member of the Holy Trinity Church in Somersworth.

He is survived a daughter Evelyn Charbonneau and her husband Raymond of Somersworth, six grandchildren Deborah Wood, Dale Charbonneau, Lynn Peters, Gary McNally, Steve McNally, Kevin McNally, seven great-grandchildren Adam Holmes, Brock Holmes, Lindsey Wood, Cameron McNally, John McNally, Amanda McNally and Michael Peters.

His wife Isabelle (LeBlanc), a daughter Leona McNally, a sister Evelyn Susbrick and a brother Lewis Palioca predeceased him.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday morning from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Church, High St., Somersworth, with Rev. Thomas Coover, pastor as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary New Cemetery, Dover.

Those who wish are invited to make memorials in his name to Sister Judith's Scholarship Fund, C/O Holy Trinity Church, High St., Somersworth, NH 03878.

Wayne Keith Richard

SOMERSWORTH - Wayne Keith Richard, 53, formerly of 41 Union St., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, in Rochester, after a period of failing health.

He was born on May 6, 1950, in Stoneham, Mass., the son of Joseph P. and Evelyn M. (Jackson) Richard. He moved to New Hampshire in 1981, where he resided for the past 23 years. He was a veteran in the U.S. Air Force Reserve in the late 1960s and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1887 of Somersworth.

He worked for Auto Sound of Stoneham, Mass., for many years, and he then opened his own dealership, Dealer Sound, and became very successful. He later moved to New Hampshire, where he opened his own window treatment business in Barrington. There was very little he couldn't do with his hands, but his real home was the outdoors. He loved to fish, hike, hunt, ski and snow shoe; when he was in the woods, he was at home. He will be sadly missed by his friends and loving family.

He is survived by three sisters, Vivian M. Leavitt, Dale V. Mundo and Lynne E. Hovey; one brother, Philip R. Richard; and several nieces and nephews.

Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Rose A. Shaltrey

Somersworth - Rose A. Shaltrey 94, formerly of 204 Sherwood Glen died Wednesday January 21, 2004 at Riverside Rest Home after a period of failing health.

Rose was born on January 22, 1909 in Somersworth and was the daughter of Leonidas and Lucia (Paquette) Turcotte. She was raised in Somersworth and was educated in the local school system. She was a life long resident of this community.

Mrs. Shaltrey was a homemaker and was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church. In her earlier years Rose had worked for a time in the gift shop of Garrison Hill Florists and served in the Women's Auxiliary at Wentworth-Douglas Hospital.

Mrs. Shaltrey was devoted to her family, her activities centered on her daughter and grandchildren.

Family members include her daughter, Mrs. Robert (Jacqueline) Ham of Dover, two brothers, Leo Turcotte of New Port Richey, Fla. and Raymond Turcotte of Tampa, Fla; a sister, Mrs. Lorraine Crouch of Berwick, Maine, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Rose was predeceased by her brothers, Albert, Arthur, William and Romeo and her sisters, Valeda DesMarais and Grace Healey. Her husband Dewey L. Shaltrey who died in 1959 predeceased her.

Burial will be in the spring in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket. The family respectfully declines flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Strafford Hospice Care, 662 Central Ave. Dover, NH 03820.

The Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Clarence L. Smith

SOMERSWORTH - Clarence L. Smith, 83, of 12 Blackwater Road, formerly of Farmington, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Riverside Rest Home in Dover, surrounded by his family following a period of declining health.

He was born in Farmington on May 13, 1920, the son of Leland and Maude (Jones) Smith. He was educated in Farmington, graduating from Farmington High School, Class of 1938.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.

He had been employed as a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years, retiring in 1972.

He was a life member of the American Legion Post 60 of Farmington, and the VFW Post 6806, also of Farmington.

He was an avid gardener and took great pride in his garden.

He was the widow of Margaret Smith, who died in 1969. He was also predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Rush, who died in 2000.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Loretta (Berube) Smith of Somersworth; his children, Shirley Anderson of Gonic, Brenda Kuder and her husband, Greg, of Farmington, Arthur Caouette and his wife, Madeleine, of Somersworth, and Lucille Sukduang of Somersworth; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Bartlett of Concord; one cousin, Delma Smith of Rochester; and nieces and nephews.

Spring burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, N.H. 03833.

Harley James Smith

Somersworth: Harley James Smith, 74, of 61 Kelwyn Drive, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2004, at the Merrimac Valley Hospital in Haverhill, Mass.

Born May 16, 1929, in Newport, VT, he was the son of the late Harry and Irene May (Dilley) Smith.

He was a longtime resident of Somersworth, since 1958. He was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and worked for the government for over 31 years.

Survivors include one son, Michael Smith of Somersworth; one sister, Rose-Marie (Smith) Parrish of Fla.; three grandchildren, Corporal Benjamin Smith, Meaghan Smith and Jacob Smith; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rita (McDonald) Smith; two sisters, Buelah (Smith) Larvey and Patricia Jean (Smith) McBride.

Burial will take place in the St. Mary Cemetery, later in the Spring.

Arthur B. Brooks

Berwick, Maine - Arthur B. Brooks, 76, of 35 Blackberry Hill Road died, Wednesday December 10, 2003 at his residence after a long illness. Arthur was born in Medford, Ma on February 2, 1927 and was the son of Charles and Olive (Moore) Brooks. Arthur was a graduate of Haverhill NH Academy.

Mr. Brooks had a 21-year career with the United States Navy, serving during WW II and in Korea. While with the Navy, Arthur served as an Electronics Technician and retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Brooks also worked for Bendix Corp and spent 11 years with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Fire Control Tech with the Combat Systems Office.

Arthur was active in veterans affairs, was a current member of the American Legion Post 79 of Berwick, Maine and with the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Somersworth, NH. Arthur was very patriotic and participated in many of the local Memorial and Veterans Day services. He was also a member of the Masons. Arthur loved bluegrass, enjoyed playing the harmonica, and at one time had a keen interest in model trains. Most of all, He loved to travel and for the past twenty years enjoyed his stays at his home in Fla.

Family members include his wife, Leolande "Lee" (Lehoux) Brooks of Berwick. Three sons, Stephen and Jeffrey Brooks both of Berwick and Richard Brooks of Kittery, a step son Leo Bourgoin of Winslow, Maine and a step daughter Rosemary Corriveau of Berwick. 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. His brothers and sisters, Typhena Dunlap, Mildred Pickett, Charles Brooks and Ezra Brooks predeceased Arthur. He was predeceased by his first wife Rita Cummings who died in 1982.

Nellie T. Roberts

Somersworth - Nellie T. Roberts 98, formerly of 93 Sherwood Glen, died Tuesday December 2, 2003 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover after a period of failing health.

Nellie was born on March 7, 1905 in Berwick, Maine and was the daughter of Harry and Myra (Webber) Tibbetts. She was raised in Berwick and had been a resident of the Somersworth/Berwick area all of her life.

Mrs. Roberts was a homemaker.

Family members include a son Harland M. Roberts of Reading, MA. 15 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Nellie was predeceased by her two sisters, Hazel Tibbetts and Lillian Martin. Her daughter Elaine Doyle predeceased her in 2001. Her husband Harland Roberts also predeceased her in 1989.

Blanche L. Cormier

Dover - Blanche L. Cormier 89, died Thursday December 18, 2003, at the
St. Ann Healthcare Center, Dover Point Road where she had been a resident
since August of 2002.

Blanche was born on February 1, 1914 in Gardner MA. and was the daughter of Louis and Anna (McComb) Palardy. Mrs. Cormier was a graduate of St. Charles Orphanage.

Blanche had lived in Rochester for many years at Cocheco River Estates and
prior to her residency at St. Ann had been living at The Pines in Newmarket,
NH. Before retirement in 1974, Mrs. Cormier was a waitress and had been
employed at Colby's Restaurant in Rochester. She was a communicant of Holy
Rosary Catholic Church where she held membership in the St. Ann Sodality.

Family members include two sons, Valmond Vachon and his wife Janet of
Riverside CA and Richard Vachon of West Palm Beach, FL, a stepson George Cormier of Amherst, NY, and a stepdaughter Mrs. David Claire Vincent of Port Byron, Ill. She leaves three sisters, Rita McLeod of Dover, Evelyn Osborne of New Briton, CT, and Mrs. Richard (Ellen) Labonte of York Beach, ME. 2 grandchildren Allan Vachon of Lancaster, CA and Lynne Vachon of Redlands Ca. One great grandchild Amanda Vachon.

A brother Phil Palardy and a sister Marie Byers predeceased her. Her first
husband Valmore Vachon predeceased her in 1974 and her second husband E. Leon Cormier predeceased her in 2002.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street Somersworth, NH will
be on Sunday from 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
on Monday at 10:30am in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Rochester. Burial will
be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Somersworth, NH.

Jeannette Boucher-Stickles

Somersworth - Jeannette Boucher-Stickles, 89 formerly of 79A Washington
Street died Wednesday December 24, 2003 at the home of her daughter in
Strafford after a long illness.

Jeannette was born in Gonic on July 30, 1914 and was the daughter of
Archille and Alida (Croteau) Couture. She was raised in Gonic graduating
from St. Leo Grammar School.

Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a stitcher in area shoe shops,
including Mayberry Shoe. She also worked for Davidson Rubber

While living in Somersworth Jeannette was a member of The Somersworth Senior Citizens and was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church.

Family members include two sons, Maurice Boucher of Berwick, Maine and
Normand Boucher of Dover. She leaves six daughters, Pauline Gregoire of
Dover, Mrs. Normand (Arlene) LaBrie of Rollinsford, Mrs. Richard (Priscilla)
LaBrie of Dover, Clair Brochu of Strafford, Mrs. Lawrence (Rachel) Mahoney
of Somersworth and Mrs. Joseph (Jeannette) Godbout of Dover. 29
Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband Robert Boucher who died in 1970.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street Somersworth, NH will
be on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated on Saturday at 10:00AM in St. Martin Catholic Church, Maple and
W. High Streets with Rev. Aaron Pfaff, Pastor as celebrant. Burial will
follow in The New St. Mary Cemetery, Dover Point Rd. Dover.

Theresa H. Vasoli

Somersworth - Theresa H. Vasoli, 93, formerly of 125 Indigo Hill Road
died Tuesday December 16, 2003 at Rochester Manor, Rochester, NH after a
period of declining health.

Theresa was born on November 22, 1910 in Somersworth and was the daughter of
Edward and Analda (Lamothe) Roy. She was raised in this community and was a
graduate of St. Martin Academy. She was a life long resident of Somersworth.

Before her retirement, Theresa had been employed as a stitcher with the
Dover Shoe Company. Mrs. Vasoli was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church.

Family members include two sisters, Mrs. Martha Turcotte of Somersworth and
Mrs. Robert (Pauline) Hodson of Eliot, Maine; a brother Leo Roy of
Middleton, NH. She also has several nephews and nieces.

Her husband Arigo F. Vasoli predeceased her in 1992.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
at a time and date to be announced. Burial will be in the family lot in Mt.
Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.
