Marsha Ainsworth

SOMERSWORTH - Marsha Ernestine Ainsworth, 63, of 5 Blackwater Road, died at her residence Thursday, June 3, 2004.

She was born July 5, 1940, in Dover, N.H., the daughter of Ernest and Althea (Huntington) Ainsworth. She was a graduate of Somersworth High School, a life long resident of the Dover-Somersworth area. She enjoyed crafts, bowling, gardening and traveling, especially going to Mexico.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph G. Ainsworth, of Somersworth; a son, Vince J. Ainsworth of Dover; a daughter, Tammy J. Ainsworth of Somersworth; a brother, Stanley Joy of Alabama and one granddaughter, Teri-Lee Scott.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Seacoast Hospice, 642 Central Ave., Dover, N.H.

Alice Boulet Blanchette

Honolulu, Hawaii…Alice Boulet Blanchette, 100 years old, died here on May 28, 2004. She was born in Rochester, NH and moved to Hawaii in 1970, with her son Gerard and his family, when he was transferred to Pearl Harbor with the United States Navy submarine service.

She had been a homemaker, and helped her husband, Gedeon "Phil" Blanchette in his Somersworth barber shop for over twenty years. She had four children, Alice, Raymond, Laurette and Gerard.

She is survived by her two sons, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 21, 2004 at St. Martin Church in Somersworth at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth.

It has been suggested that memorial donations be directed to the University of Hawaii Foundation, Geriatrics Department, 347 North Kuakini Street, Suite HPM-9, Honolulu, Hawaii 96817.

Sister Diana Dumais, C.S.C.

Sister Diana Dumais, C.S.C. (Sr. Suzanne of Rome), 88, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, 357 Island Pond Rd., Manchester, NH, died June 3, 2004, at the Holy Cross Health Center.

Born in Somersworth, NH, January 24, 1916, she was the daughter of Thomas and Anaisse (Desjardins) Dumais.

She entered he Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1941 and made her final profession in 1948. She served the Congregation for 63 years.
She obtained her BA from Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH.
She taught parochial elementary school for 36 years in Manchester and Rollinsford, NH. She retired to West Franklin, NH in 1980 and then to St. George Manor in 1998.

Family members include a nephew, grand nieces and grand nephews, and cousins.

Raymond J. Winter

Somersworth - Raymond John Winter, 77 formerly of Spruce Street, Rollinsford, died Monday May 31, 2004 at his residence after a long illness.

Raymond was born in Hartford CT on October 6, 1926 and was the son of Peter and Ida (Baier) Winter. He was raised in Hartford and was a graduate of Trinity College Class of 1949 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics.

Mr. Winter had been a resident of Rollinsford for the past 37 years prior to
moving to Somersworth 2 months ago. Before his retirement, Raymond had
been employed with Textron as a Chief Industrial Engineer with over 25 years
of service. He had also worked with Lux Time in CT.

Raymond was an avid golfer and was a member of the Cocheeco Country Club of Dover.

Family members include his wife of, Alice (Clark) Winter of Somersworth. 5
sons, Paul winter of Cumberland MD; Kenneth Winter of Yorktown, VA; Douglas Winter of Barrington, NH, Richard Winter of Rollinsford, NH and David Winter of Dover, NH. 7 daughters, Elizabeth Chadwick of Northwood, NH; Katherine Houk of Sequin, WA; Janet Amioka of South Berwick, Maine, Claire Campbell of Chester Springs, PA; Christine Winter of Portsmouth, NH; Laurie D'Agostino of Scituate, RI and Rae Marie Harber of Bloomfield Hills, MI. 2 sisters, Isabel McCarthy of Hartford, CT and Elizabeth O'Donnell of w. Hartford, CT. 21 grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Howard Winter, a sister Louise Pinney and by his son Dr. Mark Winter who died in 1993.

The family respectfully declines flowers.

Bob Bergeron

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Bob Bergeron, 70, of Hooksett, N.H., and Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Rochester, N.H., died peacefully at his home in Clearwater on June 30, 2004, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Berlin, N.H., in 1933, the son of Sylva and Maria (Fisette) Bergeron. He graduated from Berlin High School and worked for General Electric in Somersworth for more than 30 years before retiring.

During the mid 1970s, he and his wife, Jacqueline, owned and operated the Northwood Motel in Northwood, N.H.

He was an avid woodworker and was a very early computer specialist. He loved to teach people about how to use computers and had studied computer programming extensively. He loved to spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jacqueline (Berube); two sons, Dale A. of Manchester, N.H., and Alan J. of Sunapee, N.H.; four grandchildren, David of Destin, Fla., Willow of Durham, N.H., and Sawyer and Noell of Sunapee, N.H.; a sister, Claire McKay, of Saco, Maine; and one brother, Norman, of Berlin, N.H.

Arrangements have not been finalized, but in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to American Cancer Society, Pinellas County Unit (4801 86th Ave. N., Pinellas Park, FL 34666 ) or Hospice of Florida Suncoast (300 E. Bay Dr., Largo, Fla., 33770) would be deeply appreciated by the family.

Joseph M. Boucher

Joseph M. Boucher, 98, a former resident of 21 Mt. Auburn St., died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover.

He was born in North Concord, Vt., on April 15, 1906, the son of Jean-Joseph and Marie Odile (Fournier) Boucher. He was raised in St. Johnsburry, Vt., and was one of 14 children.

He had resided in the Dover-Somersworth area since 1942. He belonged to the Carpenters Union Local 921 since 1947. He played the harmonica and enjoyed fiddle music. He was a communicant of St. Martin Church. He was the widower of Jeannette (Leblanc) Boucher, who died in 1998 after 62 years of marriage.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Lewis and her husband, Robert, of Dover; two sons, John A. Boucher and his fiancée, Ann Wolcott, of Rochester, and Ronald A. Boucher and his wife, Christine, of Somersworth; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard Evans

Richard Lewis Evans, 75, of Washington Street, died June 6, 2004, at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after an extended period of declining health.

He was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Kingston, N.H., the son of Reginald and Doris (French) Evans.

He grew up in Epping, where he spent a lot of time working on the farm. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in October of 1946, serving as an airplane and engine mechanic for more than three years. During his military enlistment, he married his childhood sweetheart, Marlene Roberts. Later, they would move to Somersworth, where they would settle to raise their family.

He worked several different jobs in construction and truck driving. He found work as a forklift operator in the shipping and receiving department of Harris Graphics Co. in Dover. He worked for 27 years with them.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and tinkering around his home. Family members will remember him as being friendly and well liked by all.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marlene Evans of Somersworth; one daughter, Helene Carle of Dover; one son, John Richard Evans of Farmington; four grandchildren, Michael Evans, Matthew Evans, Amy Fuller and Diane Carle; and five great-grandchildren.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Brewitt Crematory, Epping, is handling the arrangements.

Anne Theresa Fahrman

Somersworth - Anne Theresa Fahrman, 72 of 23 Sunset Drive, died at her residence on Wednesday June 30, 2004 after a period of failing health.

Anne was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 30, 1932 and was the daughter of
Matthew and Nancy Anne (Roche) Kennedy. She was raised in Brooklyn and was a graduate of Bishop McDonnell High School.

Anne had been a resident of Somersworth for the past 4-½ years coming from Ashville North Carolina. Mrs. Fahrman was a homemaker.

She was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church, and as a devout
Catholic she had been a member of the Dominican Lay Apostolate for over 20 years.

Family members include her husband, Walter Fahrman of Somersworth. Two
sons, Kevin Fahrman and his wife Patty of Falmouth, Maine and Brian Fahrman of Rochester. Four brothers, William Kennedy and Jack "John" Kennedy both of Newbury, NY, Frank Kennedy of Charleston, SC and Matthew Kennedy of Ronkonkma, LI, NY. A granddaughter Sierra Fahrman of Falmouth, Maine.

Roland Noel Hebert

Spring Hill Florida - Roland Noel Hebert, 81 of 1025 Savoy Ct, died
Wednesday June 30, 2004 in Spring Hill Florida, after a brief illness.
Roland was born in Somersworth, NH on December 22, 1922 and was the son of Louis and Marie (Rouleau) Hebert.

Roland was raised in Somersworth and was a graduate of St. Martin Academy
and Commercial School. In 1941 Roland founded Hebert's Supermarket whom he operated with his brothers and family. He retired from his business in
1985.

Roland was very active in the Somersworth community where he served on the
City Council. He was Mayor of the City of Somersworth during the 1966-67
term. He also served as a NH State Legislator to the General Court.

Roland was very active in the Lions Club and served as a past King Lion of
the Somersworth Lions Club. Roland was a member of the NH Retail Grocers
Association and the National Retail Grocers Association.

Family members include two brothers, Donald and his wife Jane Hebert of
Briny Breezes, Florida and Raymond and his wife Jewel Hebert of Dover, NH.
Three sisters, Marie Rita Buster of Lanark, Florida, Lorraine Mailhoit of
Somersworth, NH and Jeannette and her husband Robert Shelansky of Elmira, NY. His longtime companion and caregiver Mrs. Joan Smith of Berwick Maine and Spring Hill, Florida. Several nephews and nieces.

The Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH has been entrusted with local arrangements.

Leona Mae Henderson

Leona Mae Henderson, 65 years old, of Somersworth died Friday evening June 25, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Leona was born on February 4, 1939 in Springfield, VT. She was the daughter of Charles and Esther Proctor Herrick. At a young age she moved to Somersworth, grew up as child and attended local schools there. Leona always aspired to be an architect. She loved to make drawings of houses. She was an avid stereo buff, and above all loved to spend time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Predeceasing her are two daughters, Bonnie and Charlene, and her parents Charles and Esther.

Surviving are three daughters, Julie Henderson of Palmyra, ME, Jeanie Henderson of Skowhegan, ME, Ruthie Moulton of Lebanon, ME; three sons, Horace Henderson of Boston, MA, Frank Henderson of S. Berwick, ME, and Charles Henderson of Troy, ME, and 14 grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Jean Herrick; two brothers, Harvey and Johnnie Herrick, and several nieces and nephews.

Ronald Levesque

Ronald "Adrian" Levesque, 81, died at his residence, 801 Tri City Rd, in Somersworth, N.H. on Thursday, July 1, 2004.

He was born on October 1, 1922, the son of Joseph and Leda (Marquis) Levesque in Mobile, AL.

He was a 45-year resident of the Dover area; he was involved with the AARP, formerly of the Dover Lodge of the Elks and of the American Legion of Epping. He was also very artistic and creative with wood, metal and painting.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothea M. Levesque; his son, Gary E. and Robin Levesque of Oakfield, ME; three brothers, Rene Levesque of FL, Robert Levesque of Newton, NH, Roland and Evelyn Levesque of PA.; three sisters, Germaine and Ralph LeBlanc of Exeter, NH, Simone and Clayton Sisson of Rye, NH and Theresa Averill of Exeter, NH; three grandchildren, Tyler, Corey and Kyle; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Rd. , Exeter, NH, 03833.

Eva Gagne

ALFRED, Maine - Eva M. Gagne, 90, of 44 Cranberry Meadow Road, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at the Newton Center, Sanford, Maine, after a period of declining health.

She was born in Somersworth, N.H. on Nov. 27, 1913, and was the daughter of Alphonse and Julie (Dupras) Croft. She was raised in Somersworth, attending St. Martin Academy.

For many years, she had served as a ticket lady at one the movie theaters in Somersworth. She moved to Rhode Island in 1945. While in Rhode Island, she was an assembly worker for Corning Glassware with more than 30 years of service.

Family members include two sons, Ronald Gagne of Jacksonville, Fla., and Gary Gagne of Saunderstown, R.I. She also leaves her grandchildren, David Gagne, Julie Galleshaw, Peter Gagne and Christopher Gagne; also five great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Alfred, William and Edward Croft predeceased her. Her husband Rudolph "Duffy" Gagne predeceased her in 1965.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. in St. Martin Catholic Church, West High and Maple Street with the Rev. Aaron Pfaff, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth, N.H.

Brian Hodsdon Sr.

SOMERSWORTH - Brian W. Hodsdon Sr., 46, of 37 Grand St., died suddenly Tuesday, July 27, 2004, while vacationing in Ocean Park, Maine.

He was born in Dover on Jan. 29, 1958, the son of Bernard and Eleanor (Sherry) Hodsdon. He was educated in Somersworth schools, graduating from Somersworth High School Class of 1976.

He had been employed for 25 years at General Electric in Somersworth and later at Cramer Fabrics.

He coached Little League and Senior League baseball in Somersworth for 17 years. He was a Somersworth High School football assistant coach for six years and a Noble High School assistant coach for two years. He also coached at the junior high levels for a number of years.

An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots and any other football game. He loved to play golf and men’s softball, which he did for 20 years.

He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion for the past 18 years.

He is survived by four sons, Aaron Hodsdon of Peabody, Mass., Brian W. Hodsdon Jr. of Somersworth, Justin Hodsdon and Trevor Hodsdon, both of Berwick, Maine; a daughter, Shaunie Hodsdon of Berwick; a granddaughter, Kelsey Hodsdon; two brothers, Bernard K. Hodsdon Jr. and James F. Hodsdon, both of Somersworth; a sister, Sherry A. Hodsdon of Somersworth; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to a trust that will be established for the care of his children, c/o Brian Hodsdon Jr., 32 Fremont St., Somersworth, NH 03878.
