WILLIAM G. DION
MANCHESTER – William G. Dion, 82, also of North Fort Myers, Fla., died May 14, 2005, at Lee Memorial Hospital.
Born in Manchester, Oct. 2, 1922, he was the son of Angeline (Delisle) Dion.

He was educated in Manchester schools and served with the U's. Army during World War II.

Mr. Dion was a member of the Manchester Fire Department for 21 years, retiring as a lieutenant in 1978. He was a member of Local 856 of the Professional Firefighters of manchester, the Firefighters Relief Association and the Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire He served four terms in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

Mr. Dion was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Fort Myers, Fla., the Elks of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Henry J. Sweeney American Legion Post 2, in Manchester.

Family members include he wife of 56 years, Mary C. (Pollard) Dion, of North Fort Myers, Fla. and Manchester; a daughter, Maurine Duval of Manchester; two grandchildren; three sisters, Rachel Allard and Aurore Villeneuve, both of Bedford, and Marie Lojko, of Nashua; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lambert Funeral Home and Crematorium of Manchester handled the arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Manchester Firefighters Relief Association Scholarship Fund, 100 Merrimack St., Manchester, NH 03101.

BERNARD JANTEL
BEDFORD - Bernard Jantel, 88, previously of Hallandale, Fla., died May 18, 2005, at Catholic Medical Center.
Born Feb. 16, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Albert and Gussie (Skalkey) Jantel.

He was married to Rebecca Eve (Hamburger) Jantel for 44 years. She died in 1986.

He was a World War II veteran. Bernard was an eternal entertainer.

He was also known as Bernie Miller, "The Silver Fox." He was a charter member of the Footlighters entertainment club and an American Guild of Variety Artists members.

He dedicated his life to the show-business career. His impressive carer included early years in Burlesque, singing appearances with many of the well-known big band orchestras of the 30s and 40s and appeared in night clubs and supper clubs throughout the United States and Canada.

In the 1950s, he had his own television show called "Songs and Sonnets." He performed as a singer, hotel entertainment director and was an impressive master of ceremonies.

During the summer season, Bernie worked at Brown's Hotel in the Catskill Mountain's Borsht Belt and in the wintertime along Miami's famed hotel/motel strip.

He was a loved books, reading voraciously. He loved playing the piano, singing with the band, telling humorous stories, and he cherished applause. He was also an exceptional artist concentrating on portraits, landscapes and clowns. But mostly, he was an amazingly inspiring gentle man, grandfather and father, who always put his family first.

Family members include two daughter and sons-in-law, Andrea and James Grubiak of Atlanta, and Gayle and Joseph Ricevuto of Bedford; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Ashleight Ricevuto; and a niece and three nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the Elliot Regional Cancer Center, One Elliot Way, Manchester NH 03103; Crouse Hospital Cardiac Unit, 736 Irving Ave., Syracuse, N.Y. 13210; or the Visiting Nurse Association of Manchester, 1850 Elm St., Manchester NH 03104.

MARY CRABTREE
BEDFORD - Mary (MacIver) Crabtree, 80, died May 20, 2005, at Ridgewood Center Nursing Home after a period of declining health.
Born March 18, 1925, in Lowell, Mass., she was the daughter of John and Margaret (Hastings) MacIver.

She graduated from high school in Pittsfield, Mass., and earned a bachelor's degree from Skidmore College and a master's degree from Syracuse University.

She married James Crabtree of Brookline, Mass., on Aug. 20, 1950, in Pittsfield.

Mrs. Crabtree taught junior high school English, raised her sons in the Syracuse, N.Y., area and later moved to Delmar, N.Y., where she served as librarian for the Hospital Association of New York State in Albany.

In 1980, she and her husband retired to Greenfield, where they lived for 20 years before moving to Bedford. She was active in the Greenfield Congregational Church and gave her time and energy to many charities.

She had a keen interest in genealogy and in American Colonial and Revolutionary War history. She enjoyed researching her family history.

Family members include her husband of Bedford; two sons, Alan Crabtree of Delmar and John Crabtree of Winchester, Mass.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of New Hampshire, 15 Green St., Concord NH 03301.

The Cremation Society of New Hampshire handled the arrangements.

ISABELLE M. LAVERRIERE
MANCHESTER – Isabelle M. (Killerby) Laverriere, 78, of Manchester, died on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.
Born in Concord, Mass., Dec. 12, 1926, she was the daughter of Frederick and Josephine Rose (Burnham) Killerby.

She was educated in Concord, Mass.

She was a resident of Manchester since 2002, Nashua for five years and many years in Putnam, Conn.

Mrs. Laverriere was a homemaker and loved watching T.V.

While living in Putnam, Conn. she was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was predeceased by her husband Gerard Laverriere who died on Nov. 1, 1991; and, two brothers, Donald Killerby and Robert Killerby.

Family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Marie and Michael Raymond of Allenstown, and Geraldine and Jospeh Fleury of Manchester; eight grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Beatrice Kimball and her husband Frederick of Milford, and Julia Brown of Tennessee.

David Funeral Home of Nashua handled the arrangements.

MARY BUREAU
ALLENSTOWN – Mary Bureau, 80, of Lane Drive, died May 21, 2005, at Presidential Oaks Nursing Home, Concord.
Born Oct. 24, 1924, in Chazy, N.Y., she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Quimby) Roux.

Formerly of Bedford and Manchester, she was a longtime resident of Allenstown before moving to Concord a year ago.

She had worked as a seamstress for the former Syntex Uniform Co. and retired from Alltex Uniform Co., Manchester, after many years.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and donated some of her works to the Salvation Army.

She also loved playing bingo and tamping.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Raymond Bureau Sr.; three sons, David Bureau, Neil Bureau and Brian Bureau; and a daughter, Charlene Bureau.

Family members include seven sons, Joseph Chartier of Oklahoma; Robert Bureau of Goffstown, Ernest Bureau Jr. and Richard Bureau, both of Texas, Barry Bureau of Manchester, and Tracy Bureau and Michael Bureau, both of Concord; three daughters, Joyce Koehler, Marcia Lessard and Terry Piper, all of Manchester; an adopted daughter, Terry Hewey of Weare; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall St., Manchester NH 03101.

Affordable Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., handled the arrangements.

GARY V. LADIEU
HOOKSETT – Gary L. LaDieu, 56, died May 20, 2005, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester.
Born Nov. 7, 1948, in Plattsburg, N.Y., he was the son of Vernon and Veronica (Blais) LaDieu.

He was a graduate of Plymouth State College.

Mr. LaDieu served in the U's. Army National Guard.

He was an insurance agent with Bankers Life and Casualty in Concord for the past 16 years.

Prior to that, he worked for five years for Schwan Sales.

Mr. LaDieu was an outdoorsports enthusiast who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Kinnicum Gun Club.

He loved spending time with his family and was great at playing Pretty Pretty Princess with his daughters.

Family members include his wife of 25 years, Theresa (Veer) LaDieu of Hooksett; a son, Stephen Gary Carpenter of Buford, Ga.; two daughters, Ashley and Hannah LaDieu, both of Hooksett; his mother of Keeseville, N.Y.; and a brother, Wayne LaDieu of Keeseville, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to The Gary LaDieu Family Educational Fund, c/o Bank of New Hampshire, 300 Franklin St., Manchester NH 03101.

ARTHUR D. WEBSTER
LONDONDERRY – Arthur D. Webster, 68, died May 16, 2005, at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born in Brentwood March 28, 1937, he was the son of Warren and Sally (Kline) Webster.

He lived in Windham bedfore moving to Londonderry in 1956.

He was employed by Turners Dairy in Salem for 42 years, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of St. Jude Parish Community, Londonderry, where he served on the parish council.

He also served as the custodian at the church from 1960 to 2003.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Newman Council 46, of Londonderry.

Family members include his wife of 49 years, Helen (Stock) Webster of Londonderry; three sons, Gary Webster of Derry, David Webster of Londonderry and Alan Webster of Auburn; a daughter, Melody Royer of Bow; six grandchildren; a brother, Warren Webster of Maine; two aunts; and several nieces and nephews.

Peabody Funeral Home and Crematorium of Londonderry handled the arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Parish Building Fund, 435 Mammoth Road., Londonderry, NH 03053.

WILLIAM R. MATHESON
WEARE – William R. “Zeb” Matheson Jr., 79, of 80 River Road, died May 17, 2005, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Boston, he was the son of William R. and Josephine (Leland) Matheson Sr. He moved to Weare in 1949.

Mr. Matheson was employed as a diesel mechanic with Palazzi Construction and Lane Construction. During World War II, he served as a civilian employee at Fort Devens in Ayer, Mass.

An avid woodsman, he enjoyed working with timber and cutting cordwood.

Mr. Matheson was a member of Local 98 Engineering Union.

He was a NASCAR and motorcycle racing fan. One of his great joys was spending time with his faithful dog Abbey.

Family members include his wife of 59 years, Olive (Perkins) Matheson of Weare; five sons, William R. Matheson III of Weare, Howard Matheson of Gilman, Vt., Russell Matheson, Donald Matheson and Timothy Matheson all of Weare; three daughters, Susan Springer and Josephine Corey both of Weare and Helen Burnham of Dunbarton; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one cousin.

Memorial donations may be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society or Weare Emergency Medical Services Association.
