ALICE KNIGHT
GOFFSTOWN - Alice Tirrell Knight, 101, formerly of Goffstown, died May 20, 2005, at Carlyle Place in Bedford after a period of declining health.
Born July 14, 1903, in Manchester, she was the daughter of Nathan A. and Clara U. (Stile) Tirrell.

She was raised and educated in the Manchester area and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1925.

Mrs. Knight was the principal of Bartlett Elementary School.

She served 10 terms in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

She was a member of the Governors Committee on Alcohol Abuse, Goffstown Budget Committee, Goffstown Historic Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution's Goffstown and New Boston chapters.

Mrs. Knights served as director of the Greater Manchester Visiting Nurse Association and was president of the Greater Manchester Business and Professional Women's Organization. She also worked as a home economist for Fridgidare Croporation.

Family members include one nephew, Donald T. Buck of Hadlyme, Conn.; and greatnieces and great-nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Goffstown Historical Society, P.O. Box 284, Goffstown NH 03045.

ANNA ARTZ
GOFFSTOWN – Anna Artz, 100, died May 19, 2005, at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 26, 1905, in Manchester, she was the daughter of Ludger and Alphonsene (Hamel) Lefebvre.

She was employed for many year at the 7-20-4 Cigar Co. of Manchester, and along with her husband, owned and operated Sunset Hill Orchards of Goffstown for more than 50 years.

In 1987, she was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Fredrick Wilhelm Artz.

Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Michael Paris; two grandsons, John Paris and Michael Paris, both of Goffstown; a granddaughter, Deborah Giaconia of New York; three great-grandchildren, Allison and Jack Giaconia of New York and Kyle Rennie; a sister, Marie Antoinette Murphy of Newport Beach, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held by the family at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, 400 Mast Road, Goffstown NH 03045.

JOSEPH CARON
BLOOMFIELD, Vt. – Joseph “Hector” Caron, 75, died May 15, 2005, at his home.
Born Aug. 13, 1929, in St. Justine, Quebec, Canada, he was the son of Joseph Fulbert and Marie Alice (Auclair) Caron.

He served in the U's. Army during the Korean War, receiving the Army Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

After his discharge, he moved to Manchester, where he delivered furniture and worked for International Paper Co. He returned to the North Country and worked in the woods and also as a superintendent at the Stratford Plywood Mill. He moved to Pennsylvania for a brief time and worked in construction, ultimately moving back to Vermont and working for Ethan Allen.

He was talented in the areas of carpentry and plumbing and was an avid outdoorsman. He built his home and discount store in Bloomfield, Vt., where he and his wife worked until his health deteriorated, resulting in his retirement.

Family members include his wife Frances Caron of Bloomfield, Vt.; 11 children, David Caron of Brunswick, Vt., Phil Caron of Manchester, Sandra Caron of Scotia, N.Y., Mike Caron of Weare, Gene Caron of Manchester, Vt., Nancy Sielicki of Hancock, Hector Caron of Manchester, Vt., Paul Caron of Lunenburg, Vt., Susie Bunnell and Sharon Belknap, both of Bloomfield, Vt., and Marcel Caron of Colebrook; three brothers, Raymond Caron of Georgia, Roland Caron of Groveton and Marcel Caron of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Theresa Lavoie of Island Pond, Vt., and Jackie Lakin of Derby, Vt., 27 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jenkins Funeral Home of Colebrook handled the arrangements.

GLORIA J. BROOKS
GOFFSTOWN - Gloria J. Brooks, 75, died May 16, 2005, at Catholic Medical Center, after a period of declining health.
Born in Cambridge, Mass., on April 13, 1930, she was the daughter of David A. and Janella (Wass) Haltom.

She resided in Groton, Mass., for many years before moving to Goffstown 12 years ago.

She graduated from Westwood (Mass.) High School.

Mrs. Brooks spent her life as a homemaker. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She enjoyed playing the keyboard with the family band. She loved to cook and crochet.

Family members include her husband of 57 years, Robert Brooks of Goffstown; her mother, of Norwood, Mass.; four sons, Robert W. and David L. Brooks, both of Goffstown, Michael K. Brooks of Milford and Leon E. Brooks of Fitchburg, Mass; two brothers, Robert Haltom of Ohio and Mark Haltom of Norwood, Mass.; seven grandchildren, James, Jared, Sara, Katherine, Adam and Jamie Brooks and Zachary McCook; a great-grandson Calvin Brooks; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 97 Daniel Plumber Road, Goffstown.

Memorial donations may be made to Watchtower, c/o Merrimack, N.H. Congregation of Jehovah's Witness.

MARIE-CLAIRE GOSSELIN
GOFFSTOWN – Marie-Claire Gosselin, 92, died May 21, 2005, at home.
Born April 27, 1913, in Manchester, she was the daughter of Adelard and Emma (Caron) Dupont.

She had a lifelong interest in sports: bowling, playing baseball – pitching – in her youth and cheering the Red Sox throughout her life. She designed the landscaping of her garden and enjoyed working there and directing the larger projects as they developed.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, George Gosselin, who died Dec. 2, 2000.

Family members include two daughters, Dolores and Michele Gosselin, both of Goffstown; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Monica Gosselin of Goffstown; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium handled the arrangements.

PHILIP HARVELL
NEW BOSTON – Philip Harvell, 81, died May 18, 2005, in Phoenix.
He was born in Newton, Mass., the son of John and Katherine (Ratchford) Harvell.

He was a New Boston resident from 1954 to 1994. He owned Harvells Inc. in Bedford.

Mr. Harvell was a veteran of World War II, serving as a member of the 451st Bombardment Group, U's. Army Air Corps as a B-24 Liberator pilot, he flew 17 missions over Germany during the war.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8401, Manchester Rotary Club and Dalhousie Masonic Lodge F&AM.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jessie “Polly” Harvell.

Family members include three daughters, Kathleen Havens Shields, Martha Ann Calef and Sara Jane Aiken; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ellen Livingston.

EUNICE M. ANDERSON
GOFFSTOWN - Eunice M. Anderson, 85, died May 18, 2005, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.
Born Dec. 4, 1919, in Nashua, she was the daughter of Rexford and Hazel (Smith) Mabry.

She was a resident of Goffstown for the past 20 years, formerly living in Litchfield and Hudson for more than 30 years.

She was employed at Bergeron's Mens. Store in Nashua and at Greenwich Turkey Farm in Nashua.

She was a former member of Hudson Community Church, where she was the superintendent of Sunday school for 14 years. She also attended Litchfield Community Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed painting, walking in the countryside, reading a good book and knitting for her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son, Calvin, in 1949.

Family members include her husband of 68 years, Arthur N. Anderson of Goffstown; one daughter, Carol Demers of Greenville; three grand children; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Erdine Kelly of Goffstown, Mary Deterra of New Bedford, Mass., and Verona Stevens of Michigan; a brother, Edgar Mabry of New York; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the Goffstown Fire and Rescue Association, 18 Church St., Goffstown NH 03045.

CHARLES A. MCLAUGHLIN
JACKSON, Mich. – Charles A. “Chuckie” McLaughlin, 64, formerly of Manchester, died May 22, 2005, at Foote Hospital, following a brief illness.
Mr. McLaughlin was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Manchester, and he was the son of Charles J. and Mary J. (Hickey) McLaughlin.

He attended local schools and graduated from Pembroke Academy.

He served with the U's. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. McLaughlin was a firefighter with the Jackson Fire Department, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of the Eagles Club in Manchester.

Family members include a daughter, Sharon Reed of Hooksett; five grandchildren; a brother, John McLaughlin of Florida; two sisters, Sue Juneau of Manchester and Jane Czaijka of Goffstown; a niece and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and several cousins.

Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 26, at Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St., Manchester.

A funeral service will be take place in the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford.

MARYANN MUSZYNSKI
MANCHESTER – MaryAnn Muszynski, 52, died May 21. 2005, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
Born March 2, 1953, in Manchester, she was the daughter of Conrad and Felicia (Dachowski) Dionne.

Mrs. Muszynski was a member of the last graduating class of Immaculate High School in 1971.

She was a parishioner of St. Hedwig Church and a lifelong resident of Manchester.

Recently, she had been employed as an office manager with MEDOX Inc. in Goffstown for more than eight years.

Mrs. Muszynski was a devoted wife and mother who, for more than 31 years, cared for her son with Down syndrome.

Family members include her husband of more than 32 years, George Muszynski of Manchester; two sons, Daniel G. Muszynski of Manchester and Steven J. Muszynski of Biddeford, Maine; a daughter, Melissa A. Muszynski of North Dartmouth, Mass.; five brothers, Richard Dionne of Boca Raton, Fla., James Dionne of Manchester, Thomas Dionne of Crestview, Fla., Edward Dionne of Ipswich, Mass., and David Dionne of Palm City, Fla.; a sister, Pauline Dionne of Manchester; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

MARY F. GILMAN
WEARE - Mary F. Gilman, 71, of Weare, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Concord Hospital.
She was the daughter of Edward F. and Delia (Blanchette) Hoyt.

Mrs. Gilman had been employed for 30 years by the State of New Hampshire at the N.H. State Hospital and the Secure Psychiatric Unit with the N.H. State Prison, both of Concord. Mrs. Gilman served as a leader with the Hoofbeat 4-H Club for 10 years.

She was the widow of William A. Gilman.

Family members include, three sons, Jimmy R. Gilman of Weare, Stephen E. Gilman of Hillsboro and Bruce Gilman of Weare; two daughters, Bonnie L. Streeter and Robin D. Gilman, both of Weare; five sisters, Elizabeth Davis, Alice Grenier and Thelma L.Heureux, all of Weare, Marion Boisvert of Bedford and Joyce Howe of Henniker; a half sister, Barbara Hoyt of Karakas, Maine; two brothers, Carl Hoyt and Richard Hoyt, both of Weare; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
