CHARLES H. KURTZ
HOOKSETT - Charles H. Kurtz Sr., 81, died Jan. 16, 2006.
He was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Newton, Mass., to Peter and Flora (Dupuis) Kurtz. He attended Manchester Schools.

During World War II, Mr. Kurtz served in the U.S. Army with the 28th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He earned the Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-Africa-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two battle stars and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was a disabled veteran.

He worked for 50 years for the Union Leader Corp. Beginning in 1932, he sold the paper for 15 years on the corner of Hanover of Elm streets. In 1949, he went full-time in the mail room. After retiring, he worked part-time until 1999. He was a member of the International Typographical Workers' Union.

Mr. Kurtz was a member and past master of Lafayette Lodge 41 F&AM. In 2005, he received a 50-year membership pin form the Grand Lodge of New Hampshire; a member of Mount Horeb Chapter 11 Royal Arch Masons, serving as past excellent high priest; the Adonirian Council of Royal and Select Master Masons, serving as past thrice illustrious master; Trinity Commandery, Knights Templar; and a member and past worth patron of Ruth Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

He was also a member of New Hampshire Veteran Freemasons; and was a member of the Holy Order of the High Priesthood; The New Hampshire Council of Super Excellent Masters. He earned the Order of the Silver Trowel in the Council of the Anointed Kings; was a member of the New Hampshire Consistory, Valley of Nashua 32nd degree Freemason; a member of Bektash Shrine Temple in Concord; and the Bektash Temple Shrine honor guard. His Masonic decorations include the Gen. John Sullivan Medal for service the Lafayette Lodge with silver bar for 10 years of continued service; a silver Gen. John Sullivan Medal; and the Grand Cross of Color for service to the Order of Rainbow Girls International.

Family members include his wife of 33 years, Grace (Danielson) Kurtz of Hooksett; a son, Charles H. Kurtz Jr. of Errol; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two greatgrandsons; and nieces nephews and cousins.

PAULINE G. GAGNON
MANCHESTER - Pauline G. (Harnois) Gagnon, 80, of Walnut Street, died Jan. 16, 2006, at the Catholic Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 16, 1926, in Pembroke to Ovila and Odila Harnois. She was a Hooksett resident for most of her life before moving to Manchester 10 years ago.

Mrs. Gagnon and her husband owned and operated Jubilee Travel Agency for 25 years. After her retirement, she worked at Sears for 25 years.

She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Cathedral and was a member of the St. Anne's Guild of St. Joseph Cathedral, where she volunteered many hours of her time.

Mrs. Gagnon belonged to the Hooksett Women's Club and was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Hooksett. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Club of Holy Rosary Church in Hooksett.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rene Gagnon Sr., who died in 1979 and was one of the Iwo Jima flag holders immortalized in the Iwo Jima memorial monument.

Family members include her son, Rene Gagnon Jr. of Concord; four grandchildren, Sarah Gagnon of Granby, Mass., Heather Robinson of Franklin, and Rebecca Gagnon and Joshua Gagnon, both of Concord; five great-grandchildren, Dakota Robinson, Keegan Robinson, Hannah Cady, Payton Cady and Ryleigh O'Dell; a brother, Paul Harnois of Hooksett; two sisters, Anita Nadeau of Derry and Gert Beadle of Sanbornton; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Gomes, formerly of Hooksett.

Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium of New Hampshire in Manchester handled the arrangements.

BETTY SAMSON
MANCHESTER – Betty Samson, 72, died Jan. 12, 2006, in Manchester.
She was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Manchester to Norris and Julia (Cate) Burbank and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Samson was active with The Red Hat Society and very much enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald Samson.

Family members include two sons, Bruce Brown of Weare and Mark Brown of Manchester; three daughters, Pamela Raymond of Pembroke, Cindy Hudgens of Weare and Kathy Brown of Manchester; eight grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Crocker of Florida; a brother, Elton Burbank of Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethal Christian Fellowship Church, 206 Whitehall Road, Hooksett, NH 03106.

FRANCIS J. OMAR
PEMBROKE – Francis Joseph Omar, 82, died Jan. 18, 2006, at home, after a period of declining health.
He was born June 15, 1923, in Dorchester, Mass., to Tracey Wilson and Lena (Mitchell) Omar.

Family members include his wife, Florence Martin Omar of Loudon; four sons, Tracy Douglas Omar of Las Vegas, Nev., Frank Martin Omar of Hallowell, Maine, Jonathan Chester Omar of Loudon, Richard Francis Omar of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Sr. Loretta Marie, SND; a nephew; and a grandson.

Memorial donations may be made to Hillside Baptist Church.

Cremation Society of New Hampshire handled the arrangements.

ESTELLE HACHE
WELLESLEY, Mass. - Sister Estelle Hache, a member of the Religious of Jesus and Mary and former teacher at Villa Augustina elementary school in Goffstown, died Nov. 2, 2005.
At the time of her death, Sister Hache was living at an intercommunity retirement center in Wellesley.

She was born in Waltham and graduated from Villa Augustina Academy, when the Villa was an all girls high school. She entered the Religious of Jesus and Mary in 1952, taking vows in 1955. After vows, she began a life-long ministry in and love affair with elementary school education and children that would span 40 years. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Fordham University in New York.

Her ministry in elementary education took her to New York, Maryland, Rhode Island, Texas, California and Alabama. Eventually, Sister Hache returned to Villa Augustina where she taught fifth and sixth grades for more than 21 years, with a focus on science.

She is remembered for her enthusiasm for education, her creativity in the classroom and her joy in watching her students learn.

Memorial donations may be made to the Villa Augustina Scholarship Fund in her name and sent to Villa Augustina School, 208 South Mast St., Goffstown, NH 03045.

DOROTHY J. CAMLEY
EPSOM - Dorothy Jean (Cimikoski) Camley, 76, of Goboro Road, died Jan. 23, 2006, at the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association's Hospice House.
She was born in Norwich, Conn., to the late Leo and Helen (Wrobel) Cimikoski Sr. She attended Norwich private and public schools.

While living in Connecticut, Mrs. Camley was employed at the Norwich State Hospital. She was a resident of New Hampshire since 1979.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 9452, and the AARP. She was a communicant of St. Peters Church. She was an avid reader and subscribed to many publications, and she enjoyed collecting cookbooks and sharing recipes with family and friends. She loved to dance and lived for the chance to vacation and spend time at the beach.

Family members include two daughters, Charlene Johnson and her husband, Norman, of Norwich, and Hollie-Jean Petrone and her husband, Frank, of Charlestown, R.I.; three sons, Harland Camley Jr. of Milford, Conn., Brad Camley and his wife, Leslie, of West Haven, Conn., and Glenn Camley and his fiancee, Jolene Campbell, of Epsom; a sister, Helen Kilkenny of East Falmouth, Mass.; four brothers, Daniel Cimikoski of Santa Rosa, Calif., Dr. William Cimikoski Sr. and his wife, Mehri, of Gilmanton, Leo Cimikoski Jr. of Concord, and Stefan Cimikowski and his wife, Tracey, of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

RAYMOND E. BASSETT
EPSOM – Raymond E. Bassett, 84, died Jan. 25, 2006, at Presidential Oaks after a brief illness.
He was born Jan 20, 1922, in Boscawen to Edward and Catherine (Lynch) Bassett.

In 1936, Mr. Bassett graduated from Penacook High School.

A licensed master plumber and electrician, he worked for Marshall and Fred Irving and retired from Steenbekes.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force overseas as an airplane and engine mechanic. During his wartime service, he flew over the Burma Hump.

Playing cards – especially cribbage – blueberry and strawberry picking, playing his harmonica, deer hunting, fishing and cooking brought Mr. Bassett great enjoyment. Most importantly, sharing cherished moments with his family and friends was his greatest joy.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Cynthia (Porter) Bassett; and a brother, John Bernie Bassett.

Family members include his four daughters, Brenda Farrell and her husband, Robert, of Boscawen, Rayleen Harris and her husband, William, of Hillsville, Va., Mary Sauerheber and her husband, Wayne, of Allenstown and Sally Lefebvre and her husband, Brian, of Feeding Hills, Mass.; three stepsons, Douglas H. DuVerger and his wife, Gabrielle, of Manchester, Mark D. DuVerger and his wife, Brenda, of Bradford and Timothy D. DuVerger of Nashua; a stepdaughter, Amy E. Robertson of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Eugene Bassett and his wife, Lydia, of Concord and Maurice Bassett and his wife, Dorothy, of Chambersburg, Pa.; a sister, Kathleen Foote of Penacook; a very dear friend, Beth of Epsom; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

ROGER R. BOURQUE
BEDFORD – Roger R. Bourque, 80, died Jan. 25, 2006, at Elliot Hospital.
He was born April 27, 1925, in Manchester, to Donat and Rose- Alma (Mailhot) Bourque. He lived in Bedford most of his life. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and served in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Bourque was employed by United Shoe Co. for more than 40 years until his retirement.

He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Church and was an avid gardener.

Family members include his wife of 59 years, Theresa (Guay) Bourque; two daughters, Linda Lester of Northwood and Janet Howarth of Raymond; five grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Donald Bourque of Franklin and Normand Bourque of Manchester; a sister, Doris Beaudoin of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

LAWRENCE A. TROTT
AUBURN – Lawrence “Larry” A. Trott, 68, died Jan. 17, 2006, at Catholic Medical Center, after a period of failing health.
He was born July 28, 1937, in Boston to Clarence and Evangeline (Burnor) Trott. He resided in Manchester for many years before moving to Auburn in 1976. He graduated from Bishop Brady High School.

Mr. Trott retired from the New Hampshire Army National Guard, in which he served during the Berlin Conflict.

He worked at Carland Auto Body in Hooksett for 36 years.

Mr. Trott was a member of American Legion Post 79.

He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing.

Mr. Trott will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Trott.

Family members include his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth A. (Sullivan) Trott of Auburn; his son, Brian L. Trott of Waltham, Mass.; a daughter, Lisa A. Richardson of Columbia, S.C.; his brother, Kenneth Trott of Windham; two sisters, Brenda Trott of Goffstown and Katherine Coutis of Manchester; a half-brother, William Trott of Manchester; a half-sister, Doris Dubois of Manchester; beloved grandsons, Dwayne, Matthew and Corey; an aunt; and many nieces and nephews.

LINDA J. LOONEY
GOFFSTOWN – Linda J. Looney, 42, died Jan. 21, 2006, after a five-year battle with cancer.
She was born in Malden, Mass., was raised in Wilmington, Mass., and moved to Goffstown 14 years ago.

Mrs. Looney taught in Manchester schools and later worked with the special education program at John Stark Regional High School in Weare.

Mrs. Looney was an active member of Goffstown, being involved in many town and school activities.

Family members include her husband, Richard F. Looney Jr. of Goffstown; two daughters, Jessica Looney and Nicole Looney, both of Goffstown; her parents, Donald and Lyn (Webster) Staffiere of Amherst; her paternal grandmother, Lydia Staffiere of Medford, Mass.; three brothers, David Staffiere and Mark Staffiere, both of Goffstown; and several nieces and nephews.
