FRANCIS X. PARE’
GOFFSTOWN – Francis X. Pare’, 84, of 30 Center St., died Oct. 12, 2007, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home, following a period of declining health.
He was born July 17, 1923, in Manchester to Gerald and Sybil (Raymond) Pare’.

Mr. Pare’ loved spending time outdoors and was a poultry farmer in Grasmere for the past 60 years.

He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Gerard, Robert and George Pare’.

Family members include his wife of 59 years Jeanne (Plourde) Pare’ of Goffstown; three sons, James Pare’ of Apple Valley Minn., John Pare’ of Spokane, Wash., and Steven Pare’ of Goffstown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Clayton Pare’ of Manchester; and a sister, Irene Colpitts of Hopkinton.

Memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association, 20 Warren St., Suite 4 Concord, NH 03301.

ELLEN WAINWRIGHT HICKS
WEARE – Ellen Wainwright Hicks, 24, died Oct. 10, 2007.
She was born in Columbia, S.C., and she was a resident of Weare for the past 10 years, previously residing in Reading, Pa.

She loved horses, swimming, attending concerts and watching old black-and-white movies. Her special joy in life was being with young children and she was a loving big sister to her three younger siblings. She was employed by Best Buy of Manchester.

Family members include her mother, Ann (Shine) Hicks of Manchester; her father, Dan Hicks of Weare; a brother, Matthew Hicks of Casper, Wyo.; two sisters, Emily Hicks of Casper and Molly Hicks of Weare; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 814 Elm St., Suite 300, Manchester, NH 03101.

PAUL EDGAR LAVOIE
HERNANDO, Fla. – Paul Edgar Lavoie, 68, of Hernando, Fla., died Sept. 15, 2007, following a lengthy illness.
He grew up in Suncook and had formerly lived in Epsom, prior to moving to Hernando in 2005. He was a 1957 graduate of Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester.

Mr. Lavoie was employed by the New Hampshire Department of Safety for 34 years. Prior to his retirement, 25 of those years he served as state supervisor of driver education.

He joined the Epsom Fire Department in 1986 and served as chief for eight years. He also served as fire warden for eight years.

Mr. Lavoie served in the Army National Guard and was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He was a member of the American Post 112 in Epsom.

He was a avid motorcyclist and member of Gold Wing Road Riders. He loved hunting and the outdoors.

He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara R. (Desmarais) Lavoie in 2005; and father, Edgar J. Lavoie in 1981.

Family members include his wife of 26 years, Donna Moore Lavoie of Hernando; two brothers, Maurice Lavoie of Pembroke and Pierre Lavoie of Dover; three children, Richard Lavoie of Goffstown, Daniel Lavoie of Warner and Michelle Bailey of Weare; three aunts, Veronique Desmarais of Suncook, Mabel Lavoie of Newmarket and Alice French of Concord; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.

There will be a memorial service held at St. John the Baptist Church on Main Street in Allenstown on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 12:30 p.m.

ROBERT L. O’CLAIR
EPSOM – Robert L. O’Clair, 68, died Oct. 1, 2007, after a valiant fight with his body.
He was born Jan. 21, 1939, in Worcester, Mass., to William and Fern (Woodbury) O’Clair.

He grew up in Dunbarton and graduated from Goffstown High School. He was a resident of Epsom, formerly living in Concord.

Mr. O’Clair served in the National Guard and four years in the United States Coast Guard.

He worked for Boeing and the construction trade before working 32 years for the state of New Hampshire in various positions, the last being plant maintenance engineer until his retirement in 1995.

Mr. O’Clair is remembered for his courage, quick wit, vast knowledge and willingness to help.

Family members include his wife of 45 years, Marianne (Carroll) O’Clair of Epsom; a son, James O’Clair of Standish, Maine; a daughter, Karrie Mailman of Hooksett; three grandchildren; sisters, Mary Auer of Nashua and Julie Clark of Loudon; a brother, Timothy O’Clair of Pennsylvania; and nieces and nephews.

FERNAND PERRON
Fernand “Blackie” A. Perron, 81, of Heights Road in Concord, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Pleasant View Health Care Center in Concord.
He was born April 3, 1926, in Pembroke to Donat and Clothilde (Courtemarche) Perron. Before moving to Concord, he had spent most of his life as a Pembroke resident.

Mr. Perron was employed with the Pembroke Highway Department and in the shipping department of Emerson Manufacturing.

He retired from the State of New Hampshire after 10 years with buildings and maintenance. Rising to the rank of lieutenant, he spent 28 years as a volunteer with the Pembroke Fire Department. As a youngster, he had also been a member of the Boy Scouts, earning numerous badges.

Mr. Perron coached a men’s baseball team in Suncook and for many years enjoyed playing Santa Claus to the children of members of many local organizations.

Most of all, he was an avid collector. What started off as a stamp collection in his youth turned into collections of Matchbox cars, fire department memorabilia, and, according to his family, “everything else you can imagine.”

He was predeceased by a sister, Luce Ella Perron.

Family members include his wife, Esther E. (Woodward) Perron of Concord, with whom he had celebrated 62 years of marriage in September; six children and their spouses, Lorraine (Perron) and John Perkins of Beavercreek, Ohio, John and Diane (Gavel) Perron of Henniker, Judi (Perron) and Larry Cannon of Watertown, Mass., Michael and Sue (Rondeau) Perron of Allenstown, Bonnie (Perron) and Bob Carter of Concord, and Jeff Perron and Suzanne LaPorte of Dover; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, Laurent Perron of Pembroke; and nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the Defibrillator Fund, c/o Pembroke Fire Department, 247 Pembroke St., Pembroke, NH 03275.

VIENA MARIE UPTON
GOFFSTOWN – Viena Marie (Little) Upton, 72, died Oct. 11, 2007, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home, following a period of declining health.
She was born in Goffstown and has been a resident of this community for most of her life.

She was a graduate of Goffstown High School Class of 1954.

Mrs. Upton was employed with Manchester Tannery and as a floor model with Sears and Roebuck, both of Manchester.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goffstown.

She enjoyed knitting, embroidery and cooking for her family.

Mrs. Upton’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Bruce Upton; and twin sons, Dennis and David.

Family members include two daughters, Laura Lynn (Upton) Hargis and Donna Marie (Upton) Morra, both of Manchester; four grandchildren, Gary Wayne Hargis Jr., Lisa Lynn Hargis, Tina Marie Hargis and Crystal Arlene Hargis; four great-grandchildren, Malik Vondell, Lylah Marcella, Shingirai Francis and Julius Victor; a mother-in-law, Arlene Upton of Goffstown; several nieces, nephews, aunts uncles and cousins. Memorial donations may be made to Hillsborough County Nursing Home Patient Activities Fund, 400 Mast Road, Goffstown, NH 03045.

TUCKER B. BLANCHARD
NEW BOSTON – Tucker B. Blanchard, 21, of New Boston, died Oct. 7, 2007.
He was born June 16, 1988, in Nashua. He grew up in New Boston and graduated from Goffstown High School in 2005.

He was working as a carpenter with his uncle Tucker Blanchard, doing custom woodworking.

He loved riding his BMX bike at home on his ramps and dirt jumps that he built with his friends. He also rode at the Manchester bike park. He loved hunting and fishing with his father and going to his family’s camp.

He had many friends and was always surrounded by them. Everyone will remember his smile and his love for life.

Family members include his parents, Richard and Deborah Blanchard of New Boston; a sister, Kelsie Blanchard; grandparents, Gearad and Barbara Poirier of Merrimack; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

ROSE MARIE BOWEN
CONCORD – Rose Marie Bowen, 61, of Concord, died Oct. 5, 2007, after a six-week illness.
She was born in Attleboro, Mass., and as a baby went to the home of George and Edith Besse of Canton, Mass., where she grew up.

Mrs. Bowen was a graduate of Canton High School and James Rumsey School of Studies in Hedgesville, W.Va. She was employed by the United States Secret Service.

Family members include her husband, Charles C. Bowen Jr.; two daughters, Julie Morrill and husband, Shawn, of Concord and Jacqueline Pernock and husband, Paul, of Canton, Mass.; a son, Joseph Orlando and wife, Stephanie, of Concord; and three grandsons, Berrie, Richard and Nichols.

She was predeceased by a son, Richard Orlando.

Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Henniker handled the arrangements.

CECILE JULIETT CUTTING
PENACOOK – Cecile Juliett (Fournier) Cutting, 86, died Nov. 25, 2007, at the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association Hospice House.

She was born in Franklin to late Eusebe and Marilize (Leblanc) Fournier. She attended schools in the Penacook- Boscawen area and worked for a short time for J.C. Penney Co. in the 1960s.

Two weeks after the 1939 hurricane, Cecile and Harry Cutting were married in a parlor lit by candlelight, since there was no electric power anywhere.

They raised five children on their small farm on Runnells Road, which was also considered the neighborhood playground. They later built their retirement home on the Contoocook River.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed making knitted and crocheted gifts for her family and friends. She also taught crafts to children at local 4-H clubs and was a volunteer at the Concord Hospital. She was a member of the United Church of Penacook, where she had many friends.

She was also a member of the Penacook Community Centers Senior Citizens Group.

In addition to her husband of 60 years and her parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Jefferey Leo Barton; three brothers, Henry, Leon and Armond Fournier; and three sisters, Angelina Desrochier, Celenere Colby and Alice Cloutier.

Family members include a son, Harry Cutting Jr. of Manchester; four daughters, Ethel Furlong of Penacook, Carol Barton and Leo of Bolton, Vt., Eva Jane Cutting (aka Zoe Jilleen) of Pittsfield, Mass., and Susan Gay and Clint of Plymouth, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Lloyd (Jay) Noble and Rhonda, Paul Noble, Sandra Languer and Kevin, Steven Furlong and Cathy, Kerry Barton, Dori Barton and Aaron Worthley, Travis Gay and fiancee Kathleen Donovan, and Jeremy Gay and fiancee Ashley Wilhite; great-grandchildren Rolfe and Sabrina Longuer, Oliver and Lillian Noble, Austin Sparks, Anthony Noble, Justin and Jason Barton and their mother, Vicki Streeter, Anna, Sadie and Skylor Gay and their mother, Jacque Gay, and Meadow Worthley; a great-great-grandchild, Selena Marie Barton; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Hospice House of Concord for the incredible care, love and concern that was given.

PHOEBE A. SCANLON
BEDFORD – Phoebe Alice Scanlon, 72, died Dec. 7, 2007, at the Arbors of Bedford after a period of declining health.

She was born Sept. 12, 1935, to George and Anna C. (Duffy) Goodman. She attended local parochial schools in Manhattan and graduated from Mother Cabrini High School.

Mrs. Scanlon was employed by the First National Bank in Manhattan for many years. She and her husband lived in Lincroft, for more than 30 years prior to moving to the Bedford area.

She was a member of Bedford Seniors Club and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Scanlon was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Davitt and Priscilla White.

Family members include her husband of 47 years, Daniel G. Scanlon of Mashpee, Mass.; a daughter, Kathleen Valickus and her husband, John, of Bedford; three grandchildren, Megan Valickus of Boston and Robert and Laura Valickus, both of Bedford; a sister, Phyllis McCarthy of Levittown, N.Y.; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of New Hampshire, 10 Ferry St., Concord, NH 03301; or to Patients’ Activities Fund at the Arbors of Bedford, 70 Hawthorne Drive, Bedford NH 03110.
