ERNEST OUELLETTE
PENACOOK – Ernest Ouellette, 84, of Community Drive, died Jan. 28, 2008, at Pleasant View Health Care Center in Concord after a period of failing health.

He was born May 16, 1923, in Concord to Alfred and Emerencienne (Lavoie) Ouellette. He lived most of his life in Concord, making his home in Penacook for the past 25 years.

Mr. Ouellette enlisted in the United States Army and was sent to the Philippines to serve in Bataan. Less than a year later, he was among those captured by the Japanese. He suffered and survived the infamous Bataan Death March and spent more than three years as a prisoner of war.

He was employed 17 years as a truck driver for the Concord Highway Department. After his retirement, he worked for the state of New Hampshire, delivering commodity foods and other supplies to schools and state parks. He also spent time with Carlson Motor Sales in the maintenance department.

Mr. Ouellette was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Richard) Ouellette, who died in 1999.

Family members include three children and their spouses, Anita and Ken Hanson of Boscawen, Ernest “Buddy” and Eleanor Ouellette and Peggy Ouellette, all of Concord; four grandchildren and spouses, Eric Ouellette, Kevin Ouellette, Amy and Michael Wells, and Cheryl and Chris Rodgers; a great-grandson, Travis; a brother, Albert Ouellette of Penacook; and nieces and nephews.

DANIEL J. HARMON
PEMBROKE – Daniel J. Harmon, 87, died Jan. 26, 2008, after a period of failing health.

He was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Florence Harmon and Anne (Doyle) Harmon. He spent his formative years in Buffalo and moved to Wayland in 1950. He most recently lived in Pembroke.

Mr. Warburton served his country proudly during World War II and had a career with the Merchant Marine. He enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.

Family members include his wife, Eleanor W. (White) Harmon of Wayland, Mass; children, Michael J. Harmon of Reno, Nev., Mark E. Harmon and his wife, Janice M., of Corvalis, Ore., David J. Harmon of Clinton, Mass., Susan H. Stasny and her husband, Keith, of Pembroke, Janet H. Harmon of Pembroke and Patrick A. Harmon of Wayland; grandchildren, Daniel, Catherine and Stacey Harmon, Russell Harmon, Ekaterina and Anastasia Stasny, and Daniel and Eleana Martinez; and a sister, Martha (Harmon) Pendergast of Buffalo.

DAVID BRYAN VAN GILDER
WEARE – David Bryan Van Gilder, 57, died suddenly Feb. 6, 2008, at Catholic Medical Center of Manchester.

He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. He had resided in Weare for the past 10 years previously living in Derry. He was employed as an accountant with Harvey Construction of Bedford.

Mr. Van Gilder enjoyed golfing, boxing and was a member of the Heal and Toe Square Dance Club. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Andrea Van Gilder in 1998.

Family members inlcude wife, Celeste (Sherman) Van Gilder of Weare; a daughter, Amy Dora of Lansing, Mich.; parents, Robert and Marian Phillips of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Pamela Holland of Lansing; a granddaughter, Corrine Dora; two stepbrothers, Bruce Phillips and Allan Phillips; his mother and father-in-law, Edward and Ellen Sherman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kevin, Marie, Wayne, Marie, Brian and Sandy; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to University of New Hampshire for the Andrea Van Gilder Scholarship Fund.

PETER C. WARBURTON
CONCORD – Peter C. Warburton, 47, of Concord, died unexpectedly Jan. 27, 2008, in Concord.

He was born Jan. 9, 1961, in Honolulu, to David C. and Elizabeth (Hansen) Warburton.

He lived for the past 20 years in New Hampshire between Ashland and Concord.

Mr. Warburton was employed as a machinist for the past four years with the Pitco MagiKitch’n in Bow.

His passion was being in the outdoors, and he particularly enjoyed rock and ice climbing, camping and hiking.

Mr. Warburton cherished his family and devoted his life to them.

He was recently predeceased by his father.

Family members include his loving wife, Kristin (Dye) Warburton of Concord; a son, William Orion Warburton of Concord; a daughter, Katharine Storm Warburton of Concord; his mother, Elizabeth Warburton of St. Louis; a sister and her husband, Mary Warburton-Connor and Brian Connor of St. Louis; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

ARTHUR ALAN DAVIS
WEARE – Arthur Alan Davis, 57, died Jan. 31, 2008, at his residence.

He was born in Goffstown and was a lifelong resident of Weare. He was the son of Charles R. and Elizabeth (Hoyt) Davis.

Mr. Davis was a carpenter and worked with Gary Chicoine Builders for several years. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served with the United States Army.

He was a member of American Legion Post 59 of Hillsborough. He had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

Family members include his mother, Elizabeth (Hoyt) Davis of Weare; a brother, Arnold Shatney of Weare; five sisters, Lois Williams of Weare, Beverly Robertson and Doris Cayer both of Contoocook, Marilyn Zedon of Manchester and Susan Patterson of Richmond, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

MARIE AGNES LUFFMAN
WEARE – Marie Agnes Luffman 70, of Sargent Station Road, died April 5, 2008, following a brief illness.

She was born in Regina, Canada, to Alphonse and Regina Jeannotte. She was a resident of Weare since 1986, previously living in New Boston.

Mrs. Luffman was employed for more than 20 years as a coach driver with Concord Coach, taking charter buses around the county.

She was an enthusiastic sports fan and avid gardner and reader.

Family members include a son, Michael A. Luffman of Henniker; two grandchildren; and a brother, Bernie Jeannotte of Canada.

A memorial reception will take place Thursday, April 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 S. Mast St., Goffstown.

PETE BOISVERT
NEW BOSTON –Pete Boisvert, 45, died April 1, 2008, at home.

He was born Aug. 30, 1962, in Manchester, to Gerald and Stella (Debski) Boisvert. He was raised and educated in Manchester. Mr. Boisvert was a self-employed mechanic.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden. He loved family gatherings and spending time with his nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Russ and Glen Boisvert.

Family members include three sisters, Lisa Darling of Hooksett, Tina Bellofatto of Manchester and Rita Piotrowski of Amherst; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

LISA DESROCHERS
PEMBROKE – Lisa Desrochers, 39, died April 5, 2008, at the Concord Hospice House following a lengthy illness.

She was born Aug. 16, 1968, in Manchester, to Armand and Irene (Demers) Desrochers. She was educated in local schools and worked as a sales associate for Dunkin Donuts.

Ms. Desrochers loved shopping and spending time with her family. She also liked singing karaoke with her friends and playing bingo.

Family members include her parents of Allenstown; two sisters, Annette Desrochers of Lawrence, Mass., and Tina Marcotte of Manchester; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

BERTHA STONE
BEDFORD – Bertha Stone, 96, died April 3, 2008, at Harborside Northwood Healthcare in Bedford following a lengthy period of declining health.

She was born Sept. 4, 1911, in Providence, R.I., to Louis and Esther (Ravi) Rubin. She grew up in Providence and graduated Providence High School.

She then attended Boston University.

Following her marriage, she lived briefly in Winthrop, Mass., and then moved to Manchester, where she lived since 1938.

Mrs. Stone was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, The Jewish Federation of New Hampshire, was a volunteer for 15 years with Elliot Hospital Associates and was a member for many years with Hadassah.

She was an avid reader, talented cook and baker, and loved to entertain her family and friends. She also loved the seaside and traveling. One of her greatest joys was vacationing with family and close friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Saul L. Stone, in 1996.

Family members include her daughters, JoAnn Meyers of Goffstown, Frances and her husband, Dr. Michael Goldberg, of Boston and Seattle, Wash., Janet and her husband, Craig Silver, of San Jose, Calif., and Marsha Girouard of Medway, Mass.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Green of Brookline, Mass.; and a brother, Bernard Rubin of Manchester.

ROSE M. BENSON
HOOKSETT – Rose M. (Marston) Benson, 89, a resident of Hooksett for more than 56 years, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Hospice House in Concord after a brief illness.

She was born in Pittsfield on May 12, 1918, to Fern H. and Regina M. (Cloutier) Marston. At a young age, she moved to Hooksett, was educated in Hooksett schools and was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church.

Mrs. Benson worked many years at MKM Hosiery Mill in Manchester, she enjoyed all sorts of card games, including solitaire, and nurtured her tomato plants.

She was predeceased by her husband, Francis A. Benson Sr., who died in 1986; and a son Francis Benson Jr., who died in 1995.

Family members include two sons, Robert E. Benson and James D. Benson, both of Concord; three grandchildren, Anthony Benson, Gary Benson and David Benson; five greatgrandchildren; in-laws Bob and Glady Main of Ocala, Fla.; and nephews and nieces.

Spring burial will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
