JOHN T. SULLIVAN
CONCORD – John T. Sullivan, 85, of Concord, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Concord Hospital.

In 1987, he retired from his position as a senior manager at Universal Packaging Corp. in Bow. He worked for UPC for more than 25 years and was involved in the growth of Universal from a start-up to one of the area’s major employers. He previously worked for The Worcester Paper Box Co. in Medford, Mass.

Mr. Sullivan was born in Salem, Mass., on Sept. 6, 1922, to John T. and Elizabeth (O’Hare) Sullivan. He graduated at the top of his class from Medford High School in 1940. He completed a post-graduate year at Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, Conn., in 1941.

He married Eleanor A. Kelly on July 2, 1950. They lived in Beverly, Mass., until 1962, when they moved to Concord.

Mr. Sullivan was active in baseball, softball and golf during his lifetime. He was a member of the Industrial Management Group in Concord in the 1960s.

He played an active role in the education of his three children and his three grandchildren. For many years, he was an active member of St. John The Evangelist Church.

Family members include his wife of nearly 58 years, Eleanor, of Concord; his children, Nancy J. Sullivan and Paul A. Galloway of Windham, John M. and Rhoda M. Sullivan of Concord, Jill M. Sullivan-Browne and Hugh H. Browne Jr. of Hanson, Mass.; three grandchildren, Arlen S. Galloway of Howard, Ohio, Abbie E. Sullivan of Concord and Avery S. Galloway of Windham; a sister, Eileen R. (Sullivan) O’Neil of Davenport, Fla.; a niece, Mary Elizabeth Duhamel of Exeter; and several other nieces and nephews.

Flowers are welcome. As an alternative, donations may be made in his honor to Bishop Brady High School in support of the girls’ athletics program, 25 Columbus Ave., Concord, NH 03301.

Bennett Funeral Home in Concord is in charge of arrangements.

RICHARD E. SHACKELTON
AUBURN – Richard E. Shackelton, 82, died April 30, 2008, at Harborside Healthcare- Northwood in Bedford.

He was born April 4, 1926, in Providence, R.I., to Robert and Lucy (Goodwin) Shackelton. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

As an insurance claims adjustor, Mr. Shackelton worked for 13 years at American Mutual in Wakefield, Mass., before forming Shackeltons of NH Inc., which he operated until the age of 77.

He lived in Auburn for the past 36 years, where he had been a town selectman, a former Lions Club member and a member of Longmeadow Congregational Church.

Mr. Shackelton’s interest in youth education led him and his wife to initiate a petition to put forth plans to build a high school in Auburn.

He was a member of New Hampshire Insurance Claims Adjuster Association and National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters. He was interested in biking, tennis, bowling in leagues and was an avid golfer and a member of the Londonderry Golf League.

While residing in Hartford, Conn., Mr. Shackelton was a volunteer for the disabled swimmers program at the YMCA.

He was predeceased by a son, Douglas R. Shackelton, in 1986.

Family members include his wife of 51 years, Dorothy A. (Parker) Shackelton; a daughter, Donna Kimmel of Brookline, Mass.; a granddaughter, Amanda Rose Kimmel; and a cousin, Edward Stone of Sun City, Ariz. A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, May 31, at 11 a.m., at Longmeadow Congregational Church, corner of Route 121 and Wilsons Crossing Road, Auburn.

CLYDE RICH SEAVEY
CANDIA – Clyde Rich Seavey, 84, died June 10, 2008, at Ridgewood Center, Bedford, after a period of declining health.

He was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Bellows Falls, Vt., to Clyde and Florence (Kimball) Rich. After his mother’s death in 1928, he became a resident of the Golden Rule Farm in Tilton, the home for little wanderers in Boston, and several foster homes before arriving in Candia at the age of 13.

Mr. Seavey graduated from Manchester Central High School and New England School of Embalming in Boston.

During World War II, he served with the 150th Combat Battalion, landed on the Beach of Normandy in the second wave and was present at the Battle of the Bulge.

He worked at Rumford Press, the State Hospital in Concord and the Derry News in Derry, before serving as postmaster in Candia for 25 years. After retiring in 1983, he was assistant librarian at Smyth Public Library.

He was a trustee, deacon, treasurer and member of the choir of the Candia Congregational Church. He was a trustee of the Fitts Museum. He was a member of the Candia School Board. He was a volunteer with the Elliot Hospital and sang with the “Voluntaries.”

He was recognized for 60 years of membership in the Rockingham Masonic Lodge #76 on April 29, 2007.

He was predeceased by his brothers, William and John; and sisters, Molly, Natalie, Betty and June.

Family members include his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Seavey of Candia; two sons, Mark R. Seavey, and his wife, Terry, of Candia; and Nathan C. Seavey and his wife, Cindi of Candia; his grandchildren, Nicole, Erin, Jennifer, Brian, Jeffrey and David; and five greatgrandchildren.

His good friends were many and his surviving Army buddies all kept in touch. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. He and his wife were great walkers and kept Healy Road free of debris as part of their daily walk for many years.

Maiden-Petrin Funeral Home in Candia handled the arrangements.

DAVID ENRICO MANCINI
CONCORD -- David Enrico Mancini, 68, of Concord, died June 13, 2008, at his residence under the care of VNA Hospice.

He was born in Concord to Louis J. and Alice L. Little Mancini.

Mr. Mancini served in the U.S. Marines for 22 years, with three tours during the Vietnam War as master sergeant. He then served as a police officer in Pittsfield for six years, and police chief in Bennington for 10 years. After his retirement, ran his own private investigation agency in Bennington.

Among his many interests were traveling on his motorcycle, fishing, reading Civil War books, collecting firearms and playing on his computer. He was most notable for having a hot cup of coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other.

He was predeceased by his father, Louis John Mancini.

Family members include his mother, Alice “Jackie” Little Mancini of Concord; his wife, Lisa Marie Mancini of Concord; a daughter, Jacqueline A. Mc- Clinton of Foley, Ala.; two sons, Jason Paul Mancini of Lafayette, Ind., and Daniel Thomas Mancini of Portland, Ore.; stepchildren, Sarah Logan of Concord, Jason Logan of Hancock, and Kevin Logan, USAF, of Texas; and a sister, Sherrie M. Berube of Concord.

Family members also include son-in-law, Michael McClinton of Foley, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Elena Mancini of Lafayette, Ind.; brother-in-law, Robert Berube of Concord; grandchildren, Christopher J., Tyler J. and Nicole L. Walters of Foley, Ala., Eva and Emma Burnaska-Mancini of Lafayette, Ind.; a niece, Tori Berube; and nephews, Robert and Jason Berube.

Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord, handled the arrangements.

JOHN JOSEPH HALLAHAN
MANCHESTER -- John Joseph Hallahan, 80, of Manchester, died June 14, 2008, at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Home.

Born Aug. 12, 1927, in Dorchester, Mass., he was the son of Jeremiah and Helen (Fitzgerald) Hallahan.

Mr. Hallahan was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He graduated from Boston College and completed a master’s degree in library science at Simmons College. In 1951, he moved to Norwalk, Conn., and from 1955-66 was the director of Norwalk Public Library. In 1963, he was voted Man of the Year for his community involvement.

He moved to Manchester and was the director of Manchester City Library for 25 years and was instrumental in setting up the computer system for the library, developing the West Side Branch and the formation of Manchester Inter Library Cooperative.

He was on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross, the VNA and the New Hampshire Chess Association, where he had competed nationally.

Following his retirement he traveled the world.

He was predeceased by a son, Raymond, in 1957; a brother, Frank Hallahan; and two sisters, Sister Marie Margaret Hallahan and Margie Hurley.

Family members include his wife, Julia E. (Sarjeant) Hallahan, of Manchester; children, Frances “Frank” B. Hallahan and his wife, Sharon, of Falls Church, Va., Bill I. Hallahan and his wife, Pam Triest-Hallahan, of Nashua, Gerry J. Hallahan and his wife, Ann, of Hooksett, Marie G. Patrick and her husband, Steven, of Concord, and Tom G. Hallahan of Manchester; a sister, Eileen Hallahan of Brookfield, Mass.; and nine grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff of Villa Crest for their loving care.

DAVID ANTHONY JOHNSON
BEDFORD – David Anthony Johnson, 54, of Bedford, died June 10, 2008, at his home in Bedford.

Born April 9, 1954, in Hartford, Conn., he was the son of Robert and Hazel (Saul) Johnson.

He was raised and educated in the Hartford area, graduating from Xavier High School and Mildin Technical College in New Haven, Conn. He moved to New Hampshire in 1984 and worked as a plumber for the city of Concord Water Works Department.

Mr. Johnson took great pride in his work. He was a wonderful husband, a great father and a gentle man with a big heart. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing with his son, Jacob, and spending time with his daughters. He was a long active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Johnson.

Family members include his wife, Iva (Day) Johnson of Bedford; two daughters, Heidi Johnson and Becka Johnson, both of Rye; a son, Jacob Johnson, of Bedford; his mother, Hazel Johnson; five sisters, Karen Wilson, Joan Hubbard, Juli Johnson, Valerie Cavanaugh and Margaret Johnson; a brother, Peter Johnson, his first wife and friend, Barbara Goulding-Gordon; three brothers- in-law, a sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Johnson’s honor to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 99 S. Mammoth Road, Manchester, NH 03109.

STANFORD W. TIRRELL
WEARE – Stanford W. Tirrell 47, of 385 Riverdale Road died June 10, 2008, due to injuries received from a motorcycle accident.

Born in Goffstown, he has resided in Weare for most of his life.

Mr. Tirrell was a self-employed heavy equipment mechanic for many years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, taking trips to Mount Washington, but most of all spending time with his many friends and family.

He was predeceased by his father, Walter S. Tirrell.

Family members include his mother, Carol (Scholes) Tirrell of Weare; a daughter, Sarah Beth; two grandchildren; one sister, Vicky Rice of Weare; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

French and Rising Funeral Home 17 S. Mast Street, Goffstown, handled the arrangements.

GEORGETTE Y. ALLARD
PEMBROKE -- Georgette Y. Allard, 72, died June 8, 2008, at Concord Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Born Sept. 30, 1935, she was a lifelong resident of Pembroke. She worked at Vet’s Spa and at China Mills in Suncook.

Mrs. Allard was predeceased by her husband, Normand Allard in 1993; her mother, Eva (Guimond) Bourbeau, and stepfather, Charlie Bourbeau.

Family members include a daughter, Cathy Friend of Klamath Falls, Ore.

She is also survived by a granddaughter, Eva Marie Olafson; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke. Services handled the arrangements.
