DONNA ZACKER
BOW – Donna (Carter) Zacker, 77, of Bow and formerly of Manchester, died June 15, 2008, at the Hospice House in Concord after a brave battle with cancer.

Born in North Conway on April 7, 1931, she was the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Gates) Carter.

Mrs. Zacker was active in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts where she was the “Camp Mom” to many generations of Boy Scouts. She was employed in retail for many years.

While residing at White Rock Senior Living Community, she ran the Book Club and also served on the Activities Committee.

She made many friends there who assisted tremendously during her illness.

She was a New England sports lover who loved nothing more than watching the Boston Red Sox win two World Series and rooting for the Celtics. She also enjoyed politics, watching hardball and such programs.

She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Karl C. Zacker Sr., former Boy Scout Ranger at Camp Carpenter, Londonderry.

Family members include her daughter, Karla, and son-in-law Robert Boisvert of Hooksett; two sons, John Zacker and his wife, Terry, of Crofton, Md., and Karl C. Zacker Jr. of Bloomington, Ind.; her grandchildren, Melissa Rollins, and her husband, Timothy, of Hooksett, Amanda Bayko of Hooksett, Camden, Kendall and Braden Zacker of Crofton, Md., Garrett and Olivia Zacker of Bloomington, Ind.,; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Rollins, of Hooksett.

J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St., Manchester, handled the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Highway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.

JAMES N. DINWOODIE
HOOKSETT -- James N. Dinwoodie Jr., 74, of Hooksett, died June 14, 2008, at his home after a brief illness.

Born in San Pedro, Calif., on July 25, 1933, to James and Frances (Markey) Dinwoodie; he lived in Hooksett for many years.

Mr. Dinwoodie served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He graduated from Bentley College, became a certified public accountant and worked for Royal Business Forms in Nashua and Alltex in Manchester for many years.

He earned a black belt in karate and had volunteered at Catholic Medical Center.

He enjoyed leather crafts, summers at Totem Pole Park in Ossipee and time spent with his family.

Family members include his wife of 52 years, Rita D. (Groux) Dinwoodie of Hooksett; four children, Susan Tremblay and her husband, Denis, and Linda Tremblay and her husband, Jack, all of Candia, Michael Dinwoodie of Hollis and David Dinwoodie and his wife, Linda, of Goffstown; seven grandsons; one great-grandson; two sisters, Karen Duclos and Diana Marsh of Hooksett; a brother in-law, Richard M. Groux of Hooksett; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, handled the arrangements.

KIRK A. LANG
GOFFSTOWN – Kirk A. Lang 44, died July 25, 2008, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident.

Born in Manchester, Mr. Lang was a lifelong resident of Goffstown.

He was employed as a diesel mechanic with City Fuel Company of Manchester.

He was a graduate of Goffstown High School in 1982.

Mr. Lang was a member of Manchester “Hogs” Chapter.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping and landscaping his property. However, his great joy in his life was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi Lang, of Goffstown; two sons, Eric J. Lang and Corey T. Lang, both of Goffstown; his parents, Jimmy and Joan Lang of Goffstown; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Burial took place at Hillside Cemetery of Grasmere on Wednesday, July 30.

BLANCHE A. JOHNSON
BEDFORD – Blanche A. Johnson, 98, of Manchester, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in the Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Manchester on May 2, 1910, a daughter of the late Jan and Agnes (Kokoszka) Piecuch. She was a resident of Manchester for the past four years, formerly living in Bedford for more than 70 years. Mrs. Johnson had been employed as a mill worker for Arms Textile Manufacturing in Manchester.

She was a former member of the Ruth Chapter of the O.E.S., and a member of the Ladies Society of Holy Trinity Church in Manchester.

She was predeceased by her husband, George D. Johnson, in 1985.

She is survived by her daughter, Marion Orgettas, and her husband Nick of Bedford; her grandson, Kevin Verow, and his wife, Caroline, of Bedford; and two great-grandsons, Zachary Verow and Nathan Verow, both of Bedford.

Burial took place in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Goffstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, 235 Myrtle St., Manchester, NH 03104.

JOAN H. WHEELER
BEDFORD – Joan H. Wheeler, 83, of Bedford, died July 24, 2008, at Ridgewood Nursing Home in Bedford.

She was born in Nashua on June 10, 1925, daughter of the late Paul and Doris (Stronach) Hutchinson.

Mrs. Wheeler was a graduate of Milford High School in 1943 and resided in Bedford for the past 58 years.

She was an avid reader, loved to cook and enjoyed vacationing in Aruba. She was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Wheeler was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Wheeler. She was also predeceased by a brother, Paul “Bud” Hutchinson, and a sister, Sandra Fontaine.

Family members include her daughter, Susan Ranger of Bedford. Other family members include a son-in-law, Eddie Ranger of Bedford; a granddaughter, Heidi Newbold, and her husband, Doug, of Bedford; and a great-grandson, Colin D. Newbold of Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bedford Animal Rescue League, 545 Route 101, Bedford, 03110; or Bedford Firefighters Association, 55 Constitution Drive, Bedford, 03110.

JOHN HARTOFELIS
EPSOM – John Hartofelis, 81, died July 17, 2008, at his home. He was born in Boston, to Andrew and Theodora (Rovow) Hartofelis.

Mr. Hartofelis was self employed as a baker, owning and operating Lorry’s Cake Specialties.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Hartofelis loved baking and gardening. He enjoyed the beach and dancing with his wife, and was an avid soccer player.

His life revolved around his love for his wife of 52 years, his son and his grandchildren. He will be missed by all.

Family members include his wife, Lorraine (Morin) Hartofelis of Epsom; a son, Anthony Hartofelis of Penacook; one sister, Effie Cacavas of Manchester; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bennett Funeral Home of Concord handled arrangements.

MICHAEL N. CHAMBERS
HOOKSETT – Michael N. Chambers, 54, died July 18, 2008, at the Hospice House in Concord.

Family members include his wife, Dawn (Tassey) Chambers; two sons, Garrett Michael Chambers and Evan Matthew Chambers; and a granddaughter.

Memorial donations may be made to Colby Sawyer College baseball program, attn: Coach James Broughton, 541 Main St., New London 03257.

NICHOLAS ALEXANDER BRALEY
GOFFSTOWN – Nicholas A. Braley, 26, of Mission Viejo, Calif., formerly of Goffstown, died May 3, 2008, in a motorcycle accident.

He was born in Concord in 1981 to Merle N. Braley and Joan McKernan Buckley.

Mr. Braley, his parents, brothers and sister lived in Goffstown from 1982 to 1995, where he attended New Morning School, Maple Avenue Elementary and Goffstown Middle School. He loved sports and as a child played baseball for Goffstown Little League and soccer for the Tri-Town Youth Soccer League.

He moved to Iowa in 1997 and then to Southern California in 1999. Nick’s passion was restoring and driving his classic Saab 900 Turbo. He was an avid member of the Southern California Saab Club and had recently joined the Saab Team 60 Racing Club as a mechanic.

Mr. Braley also enjoyed photography, motorcycling, downhill skiing, bicycling, and online gaming. He was a devoted son and brother, and a pillar of the family book fair business.

He touched many lives through business, online gaming and his contact with fellow Saab aficionados.

He will be remembered by all who knew him as sincere, kind-hearted, honest and always ready to laugh. Many friends considered him to be their best friend, brother or a member of their family.

Always willing to help anyone in need, his many selfless good deeds came to light at the memorial service in California, when his many friends shared their stories of the countless times Mr. Braley had gone to extraordinary measures to assist anyone in need.

He is survived by his mother, Joan Buckley of Mission Viejo, Calif.; his father, Merle Braley of Arlington, Mass.; his sister, Elizabeth Braley, and his brother Elijah Braley of Mission Viejo, Calif.; his brother, Timothy McKernan of Goffstown; his maternal grandmother, Phyllis McKernan of Goffstown; his paternal grandparents, Merle and Shirley Braley of Turner, Maine; his stepfather, Charles Buckley of Mission Viejo, Calif.; his stepmother, Shirley Braley of Arlington, Mass.; his maternal aunts and uncles, Laurel, Kathleen, Patrick and Douglas McKernan; their husbands and wives; his paternal aunt, Sharon Sylvester; many cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles.

A grave-side memorial service takes place at the Westlawn Cemetery, North Mast Road, Goffstown, on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m., followed by a short gathering in his memory at St. Matthew’s Parish Hall, 3 North Mast Road, Goffstown.

Friends of Mr. Braley and his family are invited to attend.

BARBARA M. WOODARD
ALLENSTOWN – Barbara M. Woodard, 57, of 9 Emile Drive, died July 22, 2008, at her home.

She was born July 11, 1951, in Battle Creek, Mich., to Malcolm K. and Elaine M. (Burgard) Tivey.

She lived in Manchester before moving to Allenstown nine years ago. She was employed at Citizens Bank in Manchester for many years.

She enjoyed gardening.

Family members include one son, Curtis Woodard, of Plainsboro, N.J.; one brother, Brian B. Tivey of Tamworth; one sister, Bonnie L. Griffiths of Barnstead; several nephews and nieces. She also leaves her former husband, Michael Woodard.
