PAULINE T. VALLEE
MANCHESTER – Pauline T. Vallee, 84, died July 22, 2008, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, with her family by her side.

She was born March 30, 1924, in East Blackstone, Mass., to Eugene and Alice Lemay. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was a resident of Bedford for many years.

Mrs. Vallee worked as a registered nurse at Catholic Medical Center for 45 years.

She enjoyed crocheting and knitting throughout the years. She loved going for her walks and reading. She especially loved cats and country music.

She was predeceased by a son, Richard Vallee, in 1993.

Family members include her husband of 62 years, Roland E. Vallee of New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton; three sons, Eugene Vallee, Philip Vallee of Hillsborough, and Marc Vallee of Bedford; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Ballard of Manchester; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

JOSEPH A. FORSEZE
MANCHESTER – Joseph A. Forseze, 58, of Hooksett, died July 25, 2008, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester following a sudden illness.

He was born in Manchester on Sept. 11, 1949, to Sam and Fay (Malatras) Forseze. He was raised and educated in Manchester, and he graduated from Manchester High School Central in 1967.

Mr. Forseze was a member of the New Hampshire Army National Guard from 1971 until his discharge in 1977.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Keene State College in 1971 and his master’s degree in education from Rivier College in 1976, becoming a member of Phi Delta Kappa Society. He earned his certificate of advanced graduate study from Northeastern University in 1982.

Mr. Forseze taught in local schools until becoming principal of Highland-Goffes Falls School in Manchester from 1983 until his retirement in 1999.

He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manchester and was president of GOYA. He also served on the board of directors of the Big Brother Big Sister of Greater Manchester.

He was an avid reader but really enjoyed spending time with his family, especially movie nights. He was an inspiration to us all.

His sense of humor and positive attitude touched the hearts of all who knew him. A special friend, John McCarthy, admired Joe’s strength and sense of humor, and truly believed he was a gift from God. Joe felt God blessed him in his life by surrounding him with dedicated, wonderful friends who supported and prayed for him.

Family members includes his wife and best friend, Donna (Sartorio) Forseze of Hooksett; a stepson, Marc Gravel, whom he was very proud of, and a stepdaughter, Sarah Gravel, whom he called his princess, both of Hooksett; one special sister, Stephanie, and her husband, Jack Connor, his favorite brother-in-law, as well as a nephew, Stephen Connor, whom he loved very much, all of Methuen, Mass.

He is also survived by his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Sartorio of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., a brother-in-law, Scott Sartorio, and his wife, Lori, of Keene; and a sister-in-law, Laurie (Sartorio) McNabb, and her husband, Sean, of the Hague, Netherlands.

JOAN BEVERLY CROOKS
GOFFSTOWN – Joan Beverly Crooks, beloved wife, mother grandmother and friend, died at the age of 74 on July 30, 2008, following a brief illness.

She was born the daughter of Kenneth and Kathleen (Luce) Glynn on June 9, 1934, in Worcester, Mass. She has been a resident of Goffstown since 1968.

Mrs. Crooks worked beside her husband, Cal, for more than 34 years operating Mobile Electric Service. She enjoyed spending time outside tending her yard and flowers, collecting dolls and angels. She will be remembered as very loving and giving by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by a sister, Linda Hanfield.

Members of the family include her husband of 54 years, Calvin “Cal” E. Crooks Jr. of Goffstown; three children, Gary Crooks and his wife, Janet, of Friendswoods, Texas, Mrs. Laurie Russell and her husband, Greg, of Hampstead, and Cheryl Crooks of Deering; five grandchildren, Courtney, Christopher and Cameron Crooks, and Brittany and Joseph Russell; two brothers, Rod Glynn of Atlanta and Kenneth Glynn of Lakeland, Fla.; an uncle, Forrest Glynn of Altomonte Springs. Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial took place at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery of Boscawen.

HORACE F. EMERSON
GOFFSTOWN – Horace F. Emerson 95 , died July 29, 2008, following a period of declining health.

He was the son of Charles P. and Mabel L. (Swan) Emerson.

Mr. Emerson was born and lived for most of his life in New Bedford, Mass., moving to Goffstown in 2001 to live with his cousin, Eleanor Swan, and the Lindsey family.

He enjoyed fishing, painting and dining out.

Mr. Emerson lived a good life and will be remembered as a wonderful gentleman.

Burial took place in the Rural Cemetery of New Bedford, Mass.

MARIE THERESE KEENAN
CANDIA – Marie Therese Keenan, 51, died July 31, 2008, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack with her family by her side, following a courageous 3 1/2-year battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born in Boston on Jan. 20, 1957, to Helen M. (Zuidema) Desmarais of Nashua and the late Walter G. Desmarais. She was raised and educated in Nashua. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary Seminary in 1975 and from Northeastern University in 1980.

Mrs. Keenan was a communicant of St. Paul Church.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and rides to the beach. She looked forward to family vacations and her annual girls’ weekend away with college friends.

Throughout her 28-year career as a physical therapist at the Elliot Hospital, Mrs. Keenan touched several people’s lives. Most recently, she was clinical leader at Elliot Senior Health Center.

Mrs. Keenan was a remarkable woman who inspired many by her strength and selflessness.

She lived to do for others, especially her family.

Even through her most trying times, she not once complained, maintained a strong sense of faith and shared her warm smile.

She sincerely cherished the joys of motherhood and raising a family. Her quick wit and contagious laugh always brought joy to those around her.

Her heartfelt laughter, storytelling and good conversation will always be remembered.

She gave her patients strength and will be remembered for her caring professionalism, warm and generous guidance, and her loving spirit.

Mrs. Keenan was truly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her mother, family includes her husband of 26 years, Patrick Keenan of Candia; a daughter, Cynthia Lynn Keenan of South Boston; sons Patrick John Keenan Jr. of Candia and Brendan Andrew Keenan of Candia; sisters Lorraine Desmarais of Nashua and Tricia Brannen of Goffstown; brothers Mark Desmarais of Dunbarton and Bob Desmarais of Mont Vernon; an aunt, Lorraine Zuidema of Nashua; and several nieces and nephews.

DONALD W. LAPIERRE
BEDFORD – Donald W. Lapierre, 82, died July 26, 2008, at home.

He was born July 21, 1926, in Manchester, to William and Alma (Girard) Lapierre.

He graduated from Manchester High School Central and received his bachelor’s degree from New England College.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 7th Infantry Division.

He worked as an engineer for Concord Gas for 20 years.

During the 1980s he was coowner of the Old Post Office Diner in Hillsborough.

He was a gentleman farmer, enjoyed vintage farm machinery and was a lover of all animals. He especially enjoyed the closeness he shared with his family and seeing his grandchildren every day.

He was predeceased by his wife, Therese (Michaud) Lapierre.

Family members include a son, Paul Lapierre, and his wife, Nancy, of Bedford; three daughters, Louise Marchand and her husband, Ron, of Bedford, Diane Lapierre and her husband, Jon Lewis, of Bedford, and Michele Biron and her husband, James, of Bedford; five grandchildren, Nick Lewis, Owen Lapierre, Emma Lapierre, Bronte Biron and Sawyer Biron, all of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private services will be held at a later date.

EVELYN C. PETRIN
HOOKSETT – Evelyn C. (Pelletier) Petrin, 87, died July 30, 2008, at the Elliot Hospital, following a brief illness.

She was born in Manchester on April 14, 1921, to Joseph and Adelaide (Beauchamp) Pelletier, and was a lifelong resident of Hooksett.

Mrs. Petrin was a loving mother, homemaker and enjoyed crafts.

She was predeceased by her husband, Laurent E. Petrin, in 1998, and two sons, Norman Petrin in 2000 and Lee Petrin in 2005.

Family includes sons Ronald Petrin and Raymond Petrin, both of Bedford, and Robert Petrin of Hooksett; daughters Mrs. Richard (Rita) Girard of Rochester, Jeanne Petrin of Hooksett, Mrs. Donald (Lola) Lessard and Mrs. Thomas (Diane) Renaud, both of Manchester; 15 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; a sister, Pauline Simard of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. Burial took place in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hooksett.

WILLIAM EDWARD RAFFTERY JR.
GOFFSTOWN – William “Bill” Edward Rafftery Jr., 83, died July 29, 2008, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born in Hartford, Conn., he was the son of William and Mildred (Ladish) Rafftery. He has resided in Goffstown for the last eight months, previously living in St. Petersburgh, Fla.

Leaving high school early to fight in World War II and storm the beaches at Normandy, Mr. Rafftery earned his master’s degree in military science and retired as a lieutenant colonel at Hanscom Air Force Base after serving 38 years with the United States Air Force. He was awarded the Purple Heart as well as many other military honors having served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Mr. Rafftery enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always kept them laughing. He also enjoyed traveling.

He was predeceased by his wife, Maureen M. Rafftery, who died in 2001 in Nashua.

Members of the family include three daughters, Gail F. Leach of Nashua, Susan E. Rafftery of Michigan, and Joanne Sauvan of Goffstown; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, John H. Rafftery of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Internment took place at Edgewood Cemetery of Nashua.
