Wayne E. Melanson

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Wayne E. Melanson, 64, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover.

He was born March 12, 1937, in New Durham, the son of the late Omer and Wilma (Knox) Melanson and lived most of his life in South Berwick.

Mr. Melanson retired from American Airlines in September 1996, after 36 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Brown) Melanson; four children, Kim Chamblee of South Berwick, Deann Harrison of Lake Worth, Texas, Wayne Melanson Jr. of Wrightstown, N.J., and Sonny Melanson of Phoenix; five grandchildren; two sisters, Anita Gilbert of Newmarket and Antoinette Spinner of Scarborough, Maine; two brothers, Robert Melanson of South Berwick and Doug Melanson of Hampstead; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. in Shiloh Christian Church, Route 101, East Eliot, Maine.

Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Missionary Heather Lewis, 132 Linscott Road, North Berwick, ME 03906.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Mary T. Paine

EXETER - Memorial services for Mary Page Teele Paine will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the Unitarian Church, Elm Street, Exeter. An informal reception will follow at the parish hall.

Mrs. Paine, 98, died Monday Oct. 29, 2001, at the Eventide Home of Exeter.

If storm conditions should necessitate rescheduling call Lucy Paine Kezar at 642-8265.

John W. Phipps Jr.

SEABROOK - John W. "Jay" Phipps Jr., 64, of 115 Cimarron Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001.

He was born July 12, 1937, in Fancy Farm, Ky., the son of the late John W. and Beulah (Hobbs) Phipps.

He was educated in Fancy Farms schools and received a degree in electronics.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Mr. Phipps was a chemical operator at the former Dexter Hysol Co. in Seabrook for many years.

He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed golf and bowling.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Renee Phipps of Seabrook; two sons, Jay T. Phipps of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Gerard Phipps of Kentucky; two daughters, Donna Seymour of Spokane, Wash., and Cathy Phipps of Kentucky; six grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Phipps of Chicago; three sisters, Mary Nagel and Georgia Yuder, both of Chicago, and Sister Lucille Phipps, S.C.N., of Louisville, Ken.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Renee Phipps Fire Fund, c/o Piscataqua Savings Bank, P.O. Box 568, Portsmouth, NH 03802-9987.

Assistance with the arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Doris E. Musumeci

SEABROOK - Doris E. Musumeci, 64, of Cross Beach Road, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

She was born Oct. 3, 1936, the daughter of the late Samuel and Harriette (Sargent) Bagley and lived in Seabrook for many years.

The widow of Robert T. Musumeci, who died October 27, she is survived by three sons, Jeffrey L. Abrahams of Rochester, Robert T. Musumeci Jr., and Joseph S. Musumeci, both of Seabrook; six grandchildren; one brother, Charles Bagley of Seabrook; and two sisters, Alice Eaton and Thelma Newgard, both of Seabrook.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Betty F. Stevens

KINGSTON - Betty Field Stevens, 67, of Main Street, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Canaan, the daughter of the late Raymond and Violet A. (Neily) Field and had resided in Windsor, Vt., moving to Kingston 40 years ago.

Mrs. Stevens taught elementary school in Claremont for six years and in Hampton for one year.

She was a charter member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Brentwood.

She enjoyed fishing the Exeter River, doing puzzles and playing cribbage.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard S. Stevens of Kingston; two sons, Richard S. Stevens II of Kingston and Raymond J. Stevens of Shrewsbury, Mass.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Lorden of Boscawen and Judith Dubreuil of North Springfield, Vt.; one brother, Raymond Field of Largo, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at 1 p.m. in Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Brentwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 197 Middle Road, Brentwood, NH 03833 or to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Kelly L. Aubert

HAMPTON - Kelly Lynne Aubert, 36, of 315 Ocean Blvd., No. 13, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000.

She was born Nov. 28, 1964, in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of Richard L. and Jacqueline (Dube) Aubert of Seabrook. She was raised in Methuen, Mass., moving to Bradford, Mass. for several years before residing in Haverhill, Mass. and Hampton.

She graduated from high school in Methuen in 1982.

Ms. Aubert owned and operated a cleaning company, servicing the Seacoast and North Shore regions.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister and her husband, Michelle and Ken Perron of Hampton; her maternal grandmother, Mary Dube of Nashua; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were held Thursday in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. Burial was in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Raoul E. Bourque

AMESBURY, Mass. - Raoul E. Bourque, 80, of 59 High St., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, Mass., after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 1, 1920, in Amesbury, the son of the late Camille and Alma (Auffrey) Bourque.

He attended Amesbury High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving as an electrician.

Mr. Bourque was a self employed electrician and was the wiring inspector for Amesbury for many years.

He was a member and former president of the Polish National Alliance of Amesbury.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucina M. (Gallagher) Bourque; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia F. and John Grandmaison of Hampton, Joanne M. and David DeOliveira of Framingham, Mass., and Mary L. Gibbens of Amesbury; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike Bourque of Amesbury; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son-in-law, Peter Gibbens of Amesbury.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Paul C. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Ave., Amesbury, followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church, Sparhawk St., Amesbury. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amesbury.

Memorial donations may be made to the Restoration Fund of Holy Family Parish, 6 Allen's Court, Amesbury, MA 01913.

Joseph A. Bowley

MANCHESTER - Joseph A. Bowley, 71, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 14, 1929, in North Hampton, the son of the late Alexander and Alice (Brown) Bowley, and was raised in Hampton.

He was U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Bowley worked in construction as a painter.

He made a cross-country trip in a covered wagon with his two horses and dog.

He is survived by one son, Charles Bowley; six sisters, Mildred Seavy and Alice Dyer, both of Newmarket, Josephine Canniff of Lexington, Mass., Margaret Grandmaison and Arlene Leos, both of Hampton, and Cecile Valtin of Milford, N.Y.; three brothers, Alexander Bowley Jr. of Johnstown, N.Y., Arthur Bowley of Exeter and William Bowley of Hampton; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Bowley of Hampton and Brenda Bowley of Glen; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Gloria Williams and Cindy and Rusty Harrison.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Maurice Charpentier

HAMPTON - Maurice Charpentier, 73, of 53 Mace Road, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at the Kenoza Manor Convalescent Center, Haverhill, Mass.

He was born May 28, 1927, in Sanford, Maine, the son of the late Alfred and Alexina (Therrien) Charpentier. He was raised in Sanford and had resided in Hampton for 13 years coming from Northwood.

Mr. Charpentier was a painter in the construction business. He was a member of the Painters Union Local 81 of Portsmouth.

He is survived by his long time friend, Aime D. Dempsey of Hampton; one daughter, Darlene Charpentier of Sanford; one son, Mark Charpentier of Bath, Maine; and one brother, Albert Charpentier of Ogunquit, Maine.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 10 Ferry St., Suite 419, Concord, NH 03301.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Mildred H. Durham

NORTH HAMPTON - Mildred H. Durham, 73, of 20 Olde Locke Road, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Exeter Healthcare.

She was born May 14, 1927, in the borough of Queens, N.Y., the daughter of the late Eugene M. and Estelle (Burton) Harris. She resided in Marblehead, Mass., and lived in the North Shore area of Massachusetts before moving to North Hampton in 1960.

She graduated in 1944 from a high school in Marblehead and received an associate's degree in liberal arts from Colby Junior College, New London.

Mrs. Durham was a medical secretary for several physicians in the Seacoast area and was a sales representative for Avon Cosmetics for 25 years.

She loved the ocean, bird watching and the outdoors.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Edward E. Durham; three sons, Robert L. Shields of Bedford, Dana K. Shields of Hampton and Martin I. Durham of Rindge; one daughter, Karen Shields of Concord; two grandchildren; one brother, Martin Harris of Florida; several nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
