Joan L. Daubenspeck

HOMOSASSA, Fla. - Joan L. Daubenspeck, 72, of Sugarmill Woods, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at her home.

She was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Methuen, Mass., the daughter of William and Adelaide (Lever) Townsend. She resided in Kingston before moving to Homosassa 11 years ago.

Mrs. Daubenspeck was a legal secretary.

She was a member of the Women of Sugarmill Woods; the Ladies Golf Association of Sugarmill Woods; the Southern Woods Golf Club; and the Exeter Country Club.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Daubenspeck of Homosassa; one sister, Susan Bergeron of Salem; and two nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by the Wilder-Fountains Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs, Fla.

Anne B. Murphy

HAMPTON - Anne B. Murphy, 85, a resident of Seacoast Health Center since 1984, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

She was born May 5, 1916, in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of Stanislaus and Alexandra Kopiwoda.

She had resided in Burlington, Mass., and in Portsmouth before moving to Seacoast Health Center.

Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting.

She was the widow of Reginald Murphy, who died in 1985.

She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Catherine and George Sellios of Danvers, Mass.; two sons and their wives, George and Laureen Murphy of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and William and Jane Murphy of Nahant, Mass.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Peter Kopiwoda and Paul Kopiwoda; and two sisters, Mary Sullivan and Sophie Ottoviano.

Friends may call on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Mary E. Swiezynski

EXETER - Mary E. Swiezynski, 81, of 83 Winter St., died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, following a brief illness.

She was born June 8, 1920, in Exeter, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Ballentine) Morse. She resided in Dorchester, Mass., before returning to Exeter.

She attended Robinson Female Seminary and was a graduate of Dorchester High School.

Mrs. Swiezynski worked at Exeter Hospital for 25 years as a switchboard operator, personnel director and in admissions. She had previously been a bookkeeper for Callahan & Dining Oil Co.

She was a communicant of St. Michael Church. She was active with St. Michael School and was a past president of the Parents and Friends Program and a member of the Exeter High School Basketball and Football Boosters Clubs.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Benjamin F. Swiezynski Jr. of Exeter; two sons, James M. Swiezynski of Wilmington, Mass., and Benjamin F. Swiezynski III of Exeter; three daughters, Cas Swiezynski and Sandra J. Parks, both of Exeter, and Holly Riopel of Stratham; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one brother, Arthur A. Morse.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday in St. Michael Church. Burial was in Exeter Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Rockingham VNA and Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Arrangements were by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.

Jeanette Plouffe

BOKEELIA, Fla. - Jeanette (Rock) Plouffe, 90, a former resident of North Danville Road, Kingston, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, in Florida after a brief illness.

She was born March 20, 1911, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Edward and Corrine (Marsolais) Champagne and had resided in Exeter.

Mrs. Plouffe was a postal worker for the Kingston Post Office for more than 21 years.

She was a former communicant of St. Michael Church, Exeter.

The widow of Arthur Plouffe, a longtime Exeter selectman who died in 1993, she is survived by one brother, Clifford Champagne of Manchester; one sister, Dolores Brusso of Santa Anna, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Elmer Rock, who died in 1980.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Bokeelia on Monday. Spring burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston.

Local arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

William A. Yellenik

BRENTWOOD - William A. "Bill" Yellenik, 52, of Lindon Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in Exeter Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Margaret (Bayuk) Yellenik of Pittsburgh and the late Andrew C. Yellenik. He was raised in Pittsburgh and had resided in Ohio, in Somersworth for 10 years, and in Brentwood for the past three years.

He was a graduate of North Catholic High School, Pittsburgh, and received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Dayton.

He served with the U.S. Army Reserves.

Mr. Yellenik was a manager for Osram Sylvania Co. in Exeter and had been employed by the company for 13 years.

He was a member of the N.E. Antique Bottle Club; the Brentwood Gardeners; and was a member of the Brentwood Budget Committee.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patricia (Soika) Yellenik of Brentwood; two brothers, Andrew Yellenik of Castro Valley, Calif., and Robert Yellenik of Pittsburgh; one sister, Margaret Thomas of Milford, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the William Yellenik Memorial Fund, c/o Tracie May, 135 Middle Road, Brentwood, NH 03833. Please make checks payable to the Brentwood Gardeners.

Nino P. Bernabei

ELLSWORTH, Maine - Nino P. "Chef Nino" Bernabei, 64, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at SunBridge Rehabilitation Center, Exeter, after a brief illness.

He was born March 28, 1937, in Italy, the son of the late Nicholas and Anna (Filipponi) Bernabei. He was raised in East Boston, Mass., and had resided in Ellsworth for 30 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Mr. Bernabei was a chef in many restaurants including Yvonne's LaTrattoria, his daughter's restaurant in Ogunquit, Maine.

He loved music and could play the accordion, piano, organ and harmonica and was multi-lingual, speaking Italian, French, Spanish and English.

He is survived by his wife, Florence (Smith) Bernabei of Exeter; one daughter, Yvonne Pappargeris of Exeter; four sons, Daniel Bernabei of Exeter, Vincent Bernabei of Wisconsin, Nino Bernabei of Florida and Michael Bernabei of Ellsworth; several grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Kaddaras and Matilda Agri, both of Massachusetts, and Sandra Davia of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

A private Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Rose M. Dlugosz

EXETER - Rose M. (Catanzaro) Dlugosz, 86, of 1 Bayberry Lane, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, in Exeter Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Pasquale and Mary (Nisdeo) Catanzaro, and had resided in Exeter for 36 years.

She was educated in Bradford and Haverhill schools.

Mrs. Dlugosz was a retired employee of Western Electric in North Andover, Mass. She had also worked in several area shoe factories.

She was a communicant of St. Michael Church where she served as a pastoral visitor at hospitals and nursing homes. She was a volunteer at Exeter Healthcare and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Daniel J. Dlugosz of Exeter; one son and his wife, Daniel and Debra Dlugosz of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandson; one sister, Angelina Waitt of Plaistow; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Marion Eramo and Barbara Dawkins, and three brothers, Dominic, John and Frank Cantanzaro.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Amesbury, Mass.

Miriam S. Howland

EXETER - Memorial services for Miriam Sinclaire Howland will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. in First Congregational Church, 100 Winter St., Norwood, Mass. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.

Mrs. Howland, 91, of 17 Hampton Road, Langdon Place, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, after a brief illness.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Raymond E. Johnson

HAMPTON - Raymond E. Johnson, 82, of 66 Carolan Ave., died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1919, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late Martin C. and Marie (Jensen) Johnson and had resided in Hampton since 1979, coming from Andover and Peabody, Mass.

Mr. Johnson was a mechanical engineer and naval architect and was employed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in their test propulsion labs, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at MIT and enjoyed woodworking and boat building. He also designed and built furniture and several houses.

He was the husband of the late Eileen A. (Rourke) Johnson. She died in December.

He is survived by one son and his wife, Richard and Doreen Johnson of Hampton Falls; one daughter and her husband, Dianne and William Rogers of Hampton; four grandchildren; one sister, Gladys McCarthy of Westford, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, Raymond E. Johnson Jr., and two brothers, Clarence Johnson and Roy Johnson.

Graveside services were held Monday in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Pauline A. Moulton

ROLLINSFORD - Pauline A. (Garland) Moulton, 102, formerly of Rye, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at the Meriden Nursing Home, Meriden, Conn.

She was born Oct. 27, 1899, in North Hampton, the daughter of the late Charles L.A. and Alice (Jones) Garland.

She was a 1918 graduate of Hampton Academy.

Mrs. Moulton was a member of Rye Congregational Church; Rivermouth Chapter No. 54, Order of Eastern Star, Portsmouth; and a former member of the Rye Women's Club.

The widow of Gilman W. Moulton, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Anita and David Wentworth of Rollinsford and Priscilla A. and Robert Murray of Woodbury, Conn.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth.

Order of Eastern Star services will be conducted at 6:45 p.m. by Rivermouth Chapter No. 54. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rye Public Library, 581 Washington Road, Rye, NH 03870 or to the Memorial Gift Coordinator, Bektash Temple, P.O. Box 7252, Concord, NH 03301-7252 for the Shriners Hospital for Children-Boston Unit.
