Harlan Hutchinson Jr.

ISLAND POND, Vt. - Harlan "Lee" Hutchinson Jr., formerly of Epping, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at the Union House, Glover, Vt., after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Jan. 5, 1940, in Manchester, the son of Harlan and Irene (Webb) Hutchinson. He had been a longtime resident of Epping and resided in Island Pond for 10 years.

Mr. Hutchinson was a security guard at Ethan Allen for 10 years. He was previously employed at the Roger Mathis Mill in Deerfield for many years.

He is survived by his companion of 12 years, Madelyn Hitchcock of Island Pond; three sons, Harlan Hutchinson III of Penacook, Leon Hutchinson and his wife Crystal of Thetford, Vt., and Jonathan Hutchinson of Epping; seven grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Hutchinson of Strafford; two sisters, Janet Townsend of Texas and Diana Thomas of Epping; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, William Hutchinson.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 8 Pleasant St., Epping.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Epping Community Church, Pleasant Street, Epping, with the Rev. Wayne VanGundy officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Epping.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Bldg., 360 Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032.

Lillian M. Kenney

HAMPTON - Lillian M. Kenney, 81, of 64 Haven Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood.

She was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Penacook, the daughter of the late George and Rena (Roy) LaFlamme. She resided in Hampton since 1960.

She was a graduate of Penacook High School and received her bachelor's degree from Keene State College and her master's degree from the University of New Hampshire.

Mrs. Kenney taught elementary education at the Salisbury (Mass.) Memorial School from 1961 until her retirement in 1981. She had previously taught kindergarten in Penacook. As a reading readiness specialist she served as a tutor for children and adults for many years.

Mrs. Kenney was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. She was a member of the National Education Association and was active with the Keene State Alumni Association.

She was an accomplished classical pianist and was honored with the title of Miss Penacook in 1937.

She was the widow of Lawrence E. Kenney, who died in 1985.

She is survived by one son, Danny J. Kenney of Hampton; one daughter, Shannon M. O'Brien of Manchester; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, John LaFlamme of Westford, Vt.,; one sister, Gloria Nickel of Mystic, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Joseph S. Musumeci

SEABROOK - Joseph S. Musumeci, 27, of Cross Beach Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.

He was born June 6, 1974, in Exeter, the son of the late Robert T. and Doris E. (Bagley) Musumeci. He was a lifelong resident of Seabrook.

He was educated in Seabrook schools.

Mr. Musumeci was a mason and was employed by several area contractors.

He enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by two brothers, Jeffrey Abrahams of Rochester and Robert F. Musumeci Jr., of Seabrook.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Robert R. Payn

NORTH HAMPTON - Robert R. Payn, 90, of 203 Lafayette Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at his home after a lengthy battle with leukemia.

He was born Jan. 15, 1912, in Stowe, Vt., the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Raymond) Payn, moving to Newington in 1939.

Mr. Payn was a mechanic at the University of New Hampshire for 14 years, retiring in 1976. He had previously been employed by Lane Construction Co., building runways at Pease Air Force Base, and as a mechanic for Seybolt Motors in Portsmouth for 13 years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie R. (Brooks) Payn; one son-in-law, Thomas P. Connors of North Hampton; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Anna B. Connors.

There will be no services. His body will be donated to Dartmouth Medical School.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anatomical Gift Program, Dept. of Anatomy, Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, NH 03755-3832 or to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Pauline Rock

KINGSTON - Pauline "Pat" Rock, 80, of Scotland Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, following a brief illness.

She was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Oakfield, Maine, the daughter of the late Ray and Alma (Burpee) Linton. She resided in Kingston for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Rock had been a dietitian at the Havaland Nursing Home, Haverhill, Mass.

She was a member of Kingston Congregational Church for more than 30 years, where she sang with the choir. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1088 for 24 years; the Kingston Senior Citizens; and was a fund-raiser for the Kensington American Legion Post No. 105.

She was the widow of Robert D. Rock, who died in 1993.

She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Barbara and Robert Pothier of Kingston; three grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Scott of Newton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter with the Rev. Wendall Irvine officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston. A reception will follow in the Rent Room of Kingston Congregational Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kingston Congregational Church, P.O. Box 203, Kingston, NH 03848.

Dr. Dale E. Smith

CARIBOU, Maine - Dr. Dale Edward Smith, 76, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, from complications of advanced Parkinson's disease.

He was born April 17, 1925, in Leetonia, Ohio, the son of George A. and Corinne Belle Smith. He moved to Caribou in 1953.

He was a 1943 graduate of Leetonia High School and attended Ohio State University.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving in the 3rd Marine Division in the Pacific Theater on Guam, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima.

Dr. Smith was a veterinarian in Caribou from 1953 until his retirement in 1994.

He was a faithful member of Caribou United Baptist Church serving as a deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher for many years.

He is survived by one daughter and her husband, Melanie and Eric Stockholm of Waterboro, Maine; four sons and their wives, Douglas and Karen Smith of Indianapolis, Ind., Dennis and Jane Smith of North Hampton, Jeffrey and Janice Smith of Brunswick, Maine, and Timothy and Joan Smith of Limerick, Maine; 12 grandchildren; and three brothers, Paul, Bernard and Donald Smith, all of Ohio.

Memorial services will be held Friday, March 1, at 11 a.m. in the Caribou United Baptist Church and Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m. in South Waterboro Bible Chapel.

Memorial donations may be made to the United Baptist Church, Caribou, ME 04736 or to the South Waterboro Bible Chapel, Waterboro, ME 04087.

Hazel M. Townsend

BRENTWOOD - Hazel M. Townsend, 95, of Middle Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.

She was born July 3, 1906, in Hamilton, Mass., the daughter of the late Alvah and Margaret (Wolfendon) Crossman. She resided in Brentwood since 1964.

She was educated in Hamilton schools.

Mrs. Townsend was a homemaker.

She was an avid horse rider and enjoyed the outdoors.

The widow of Roger Townsend, who died in 1983, her only survivor is her dog, Katie.

At Mrs. Townsend's request there will be no services.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mary E. Bartlett Library, 22 Dalton Road, Brentwood, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.

Leonard E. Dodge Sr.

RAYMOND - Leonard E. Dodge Sr., 56, of Langford Road, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at his home after a sudden illness.

He was born Oct. 30, 1945, in Portland, Maine, the son of Everett and Emily (Cambell) Dodge, and had resided in Raymond for 26 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Dodge was a self-employed cosmetologist for many years.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and handyman and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol (Richardson) Dodge of Raymond; two sons, Leonard E. Dodge Jr. of Lawrence, Mass., and Mark Dodge of Fort Benning, Ga.; one daughter, Carolynne Dodge of Raymond; three grandchildren; five sisters, Emily Yoder of Billerica, Mass., Ruth Longphee, Marjorie Gilbert and Beatrice Mastroangelo, all of Derry, and Deborah Grondin of Raymond; and one brother, George Dodge of Pelham.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Raymond Congregational Church, Church Street, Raymond. with the Rev. Neil Iverson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond.

Walter D. Dziedzic

NEWMARKET— Walter D. Dziedzic, 80, of South Main St., died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.

He was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Newmarket, the son of Jacob and Mary (Salwa) Dziedzic and was a lifelong resident of Newmarket.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II stationed in Belgium and France.

Mr. Dziedzic was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he began as a rigger's helper and retired as a rigger. He was previously employed by Rockingham Shoe, Newmarket, for 18 years.

He was a communicant of St. Mary Church; a life member of the American Citizens Club of Polish Descent; a 52-year member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Post No. 67; and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

He is survived by two brothers, Robert "Pat" Dziedzic and John Dziedzic, both of Newmarket; two sisters, Helen Cassano and Frances Birmingham, both of Newmarket; one sister-in-law, Josephine Dziedzic of Newmarket; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Daniel Dziedzic; and five sisters, Stephanie Olszanowski, Catherine Zwearcan, Anna Shufelt, Aniela Wojnar and Dorothy Bizinski.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket. American Legion Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, with the Rev. John Finnigan as celebrant. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
