Millard D. Tarr

GLOUCESTER, Mass. - Millard D. Tarr, 88, of 1 Orchard Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2002, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 14, 1913, in Gloucester, the son of the late Addison W. and Ethel (MacDonald) Tarr. He was raised in Gloucester and had made his home in Ipswich, Mass., returning to Gloucester in 1972.

Mr. Tarr was employed by Haywood Knitting Mills in Ipswich, Mass., United Shoe Machinery Corp., Beverly, Mass., and was a respected fisherman of Ipswich Bay as he pursued commercial and recreational fishing charters on his boar, "Island Prince." He later became involved with custom home building, cabinet making and building custom lobster and sportfishing boats.

He enjoyed boats, fishing, aand gardening growing vegetables and roses.

He was a communicant of St. Peter Church, East Gloucester.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary (Murdza) Tarr of Gloucester; three sons and their wives, Raymond and Beverly Tarr of Gloucester, Philip and Dee Tarr of Bridgeton, Maine, and David and Shirley Tarr of Port Townsend, Wash.; three daughters and their husbands, Marianne and John Armacost of North Hampton, Heidi and Erich Karol of Gloucester and Gina and Richard McLaughlin of Stratham; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Norma Tarr of Gloucester; and one sister-in-law, Anne Spencer of Gloucester.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Christine, and one son, Ronald.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:15 a.m. in the James C. Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Peter Church, Sayward Street, East Gloucester. Burial will be in New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Shore, Inc., 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.

Phyllis H. Lufkin

PORTSMOUTH - Phyllis H. Lufkin, 87, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at the Mark H. Wentworth Home.

She was born Nov. 14, 1914, in Newfields, the daughter of G. Irvin and Eva (Sanborn) Howard.

She was a 1932 graduate of Traip Academy, Kittery, Maine.

Mrs. Lufkin was a legal secretary with the law firm of Griffin, Harrington and Brigham for many years before her retirement. She had previously worked for Attorney Oscar Neukom for 17 years prior to his death in 1959.

She was active with the Piscataqua Chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Club serving as president in 1960-62; served as president of the Women's City Club in Portsmouth; she was a past matron of Rivermouth Chapter No. 54, Order of Eastern Star and was a past grand marshal of the Grand Chapter of New Hampshire, Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Lufkin was a member of North Congregational Church, Portsmouth, serving as president of the Fellowship Forum for many years and was a member of the Sanborn Family Association.

The widow of Harold E. Lufkin, who died in 1975, she is survived by several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

Order of Eastern Star services conducted by Rivermouth Chapter No. 54 of Portsmouth will be held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. in the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, followed by funeral services at 10 a.m.

Helen I. Kellenbeck

NORTH HAMPTON - Helen I. (Kasper) Kellenbeck of 5 Lafayette Terrace, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 in Exeter Hospital.

She was born in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, the daughter of the late Frederick and Mildred J. (Clark) Kasper

She was a graduate of Old Orchard High School.

Mrs. Kellenbeck was formerly employed by the Trafton Insurance Agency, Dunfey Insurance Agency, Hampton, and Sam's Club, Seabrook.

She was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, and was a member of Rivermouth Chapter No. 54, Order of Eastern Star, Portsmouth.

The widow of Lester C. Kellenbeck, she is survived by one sister, Isabel M. Kasper of Old Orchard Beach; and one stepdaughter and her husband, Leslie and Neil McIver of Plymouth.

Order of Eastern Star Services and funeral services were held Wednesday in the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688 or to the American Diabetes Assoc., 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101.

Helen A. Pike

SEABROOK BEACH - Helen A. "Rocky" (McCarty) Pike, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at her home after a period of failing health.

She was born in Revere, Mass., the daughter of the late Thomas F. "Mac" and Margaret H. McCarty. She was raised in Revere and had resided in Melrose, Mass., moving to Seabrook in 1982.

She was educated in Revere schools and attended business school.

Mrs. Pike worked at Forbes Lithograph. She was active in the establishment and operation of the Pike, Merwin, DeNeil Funeral Home, in Revere and Melrose.

She was a former Miss Revere and did some modeling when she worked at Forbes. During World War II she drove a truck for the U.S. Army in Texas.

She was a devout Catholic and for many years was a daily communicant until her health failed. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Church, Seabrook Beach; the Seabrook Women's Club; the Seabrook Senior Citizens; was a volunteer with the American Red Cross blood drives; was a former member of Immaculate Conception Church, Revere, Incarnation Church, Melrose, where she taught CCD; the Immaculata Guild and the Revere Women's Club.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, and was an avid bowler and bridge player.

She is survived by Leslie H. DiPerri of Peabody, Mass., Maureen A. O'Donnell of Exeter, Thomas N. Pike of Seabrook, Robert J. Pike of Boscawen, and Elinor M. Fisher of Melrose; nine grandchildren; and two nieces.

She was predeceased by one brother, William L. McCarty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Church, Route 1A, Seabrook Beach. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Church, c/o OLMM< 289 Lafayette road, Hampton, NH )3842 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Association, Northern N.E. Chapter, 114 Perimeter Road, #Gh, Nashua, NH 03060.

Arrangements are by the Affordable Funeral and Cremation Services Inc.

Barbara R. Kierce

HAMPTON BEACH - Barbara R. (Tivey) Kierce, 61, died Monday, March 4, 2002, in Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, Mass.

She was born in Billerica, Mass., the daughter of the late Herbert and Lillian (Hopkinson) Tivey. She was raised in Lowell, Mass., and had resided in Westford, Mass., for many years before moving to Hampton Beach.

She was a graduate of Lowell High School.

Mrs. Kierce was a financial social worker for 12 years with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Transitional Assistance in the Salem, Mass., office.

She attended Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton; was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Lowell; and a member of the Association of State, County and Municipal Employees of Massachusetts.

Mrs. Kierce was an avid tennis player, competing in many local and regional tournaments, winning many titles over the years. She was the former coach of the boys tennis team at Westford Academy and the girls tennis team at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.

She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Sharon M. and Garrett Burke of Tyngsboro, Mass.; one son and his wife, Ronald F. and Katherine Kierce of Seattle, Wash.; six grandsons; two sisters, Betty McKenna of Hudson and Bonnie Garthe of Westford; one brother, William Tivey of Orlando, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Judy and James Gove of Methuen, Mass.

She was predeceased by one brother, Robert Tivey.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 8:30 a.m. in the O'Donnell Funeral Home, 276 Pawtucket St., Lowell. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Lowell. Burial will be in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.

Memorial donations may be made to the Anna Jaques Community Foundation, Oncology Clinic, 25 Highland Ave., Newburyport, MA 01950.

Steven A. Fuller

RAYMOND - Steven A. Fuller, 47, of 164 Route 27, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a brief illness.

He was born June 26, 1954, in Medford, Mass., the son of Richard Fuller of Fremont and the late Ruth (Clark) Fuller and had resided in Raymond for 10 years.

Mr. Fuller was a warehouse mover at the Sears Logistical Center in Kingston for several years.

He enjoyed flying and his 1985 Mustang.

In addition to his father, he is survived by one brother, Gerald Fuller of Haverhill, Mass.; one sister, Judith Queen of Woburn, Mass.; one aunt, Lillian Scott of Newmarket; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Church of the Nazarene, Haverhill, Mass. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rockingham County Nursing Home, 117 North Road, Brentwood, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond.

Albena M. Gaudreau

EAST KINGSTON - Albena Mary Gaudreau, 94, of South Road, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at her home.

She was born Oct. 9, 1907, in Revere, Mass., the daughter of the late Napoleon and Delima (Therault) Gagnon. She had resided in Danvers, Mass., before moving to East Kingston 12 years ago.

The widow of Leo H. Gaudreau, who died in 1990, she is survived by one daughter, Leona Virnelli of East Kingston; one son, John Gaudreau of Exeter; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Emily Grace Kimball

HAMPTON - Emily Grace Kimball, 5, of 36 Towle Ave., died Sunday, March 3, 2002, in Children's Hospital, Boston, following a two year battle with cancer.

She was born June 10, 1996, in Moscow, Russia, the daughter of Kevin D. and Maureen A. (Shannon) Kimball of Hampton.

Emily attended kindergarten at Centre School in Hampton.

She was a member of Faith Community Church, Hampton; the N.H. Academy of the Performing Arts, North Hampton; and the Hampton Youth Association Soccer Program.

She was baptized last September in the Atlantic Ocean at North Beach.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by four brothers, Brian D., Peter T., Gary R., and Jonathan E. Kimball, all of Hampton; one sister, Mallory A. Kimball of Hampton; her maternal grandfather, Terrence Shannon of New Milford, Conn.; her maternal grandmother, Sandra Grandon of Danbury, Conn.; her paternal grandmother, Alta G. Kimball of Hampton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of her life was held Thursday in Bethany Congregational Church, Greenland. Private burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Memorial donations may be made to Faith Community Church, 112 High St., Hampton, NH 03842 for charities that would have pleased Emily.

Arrangements were by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, Hampton.

Joseph C. Lutz

EXETER - Joseph C. Lutz, 62, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 30, 1939, in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Harriet (Gryczan) Lutz of Spotswood, N.J., and the late Joseph Lutz, and had resided in Exeter for 22 years.

He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Jersey City, and received his bachelor of science degree in accounting from St. Peter's College, Jersey City. He did post-graduate studies in management at Pace University and Fordham University in New York City.

Mr. Lutz was a financial consultant with many companies in New York, Maryland and Massachusetts. Before his illness he was the controller for Thermopol, Inc., in Somersworth.

He was a communicant of St. Michael Church, Exeter.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marie (Raffo) Lutz; one son, Joseph Lutz of Rockville, Md.; two daughters, Erika Maniotis of Exeter and Daniella Lutz of Brighton, Mass.; two granddaughters; one brother, Richard Lutz of Yardley, Pa.; one sister, Kathleen McCarthy of Basking Ridge, N.J.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Front Street, Exeter. After cremation burial will in Center Cemetery, North Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rockingham VNA & Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
