Sydney Theille

HAMPTON - Sydney Theille, 81, of St. Ann's Home, Dover, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at the home where she had resided since 1989.

She was born Aug. 20, 1920, in New York City, and had resided there most of her life, coming to Hampton in 1977.

She was a 1942 graduate of the Juilliard School of Music.

Mrs. Theille was a music teacher at the Brooklyn Day School for many years.

The widow of Roy Theille, who died in 1998, she is survived by one son, Anthony Theille of Hampton.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Clyde G. Tirabassi

EXETER - Clyde G. Tirabassi, 88, of Langdon Place, died Sunday, March 17, 2002.

He was born Jan. 24, 1914, in Lynn, Mass., the son of the late Frank and Cecelia (Marcchiony) Tirabassi. He was raised in Lynn, had resided in Beverly, Mass. most of his life and in Methuen, Mass., for 25 years before moving to Exeter in September 2001.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne division in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Tirabassi was a salesman for Sears and Roebuck Co., in its Salem, Natick and Methuen stores.

He enjoyed caring for his yard and home and was a volunteer with several area organizations.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine (Pellegrini) Tirabassi of Exeter; one son and his wife, Donald F. and Maren Tirabassi of Portsmouth; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Calling hours will be held Thursday from noon until the hour of the service.

Private burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church or charity of one's choice.

John R. Welch

RAYMOND - John R. Welch, 75, of Acre Street, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in Parkland Medical Center, Derry, after a sudden illness.

He was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Plaistow, the son of the late John B. and Esther (Manchester) Welch. He was raised in Danville and had resided in Raymond for 50 years.

He was educated in Danville schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Welch was an assembler at New England Armatures in Danville for more than 30 years. He worked part-time as a meat cutter running a business out of his home.

He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and fly tying.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha E. (Smith) Welch of Raymond; four daughters, Martha J. Welch of Raymond, Kathy Vieira of Manchester, Julie Welch of Raymond and Ruth Burleigh of Newmarket; three sons, Russell L. Welch of Peru, Maine, Walter Welch of Raymond, and John R. Welch Jr. of Pembroke; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Roche of Manchester and Miriam Pelletier of Penacook; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Danville, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Martha J. Welch Fund, c/o First Savings of N.H., Main Street, Raymond, NH 03077.

Stanley W. Bondelevitch

KINGSTON - Stanley W. Bondelevitch, 83, of Beach Drive, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home, Fremont.

He was born March 29, 1918, in Boston, the son of the late Walter and Mary (Kasparavitch) Bondelevitch. He was raised in Acton, Mass., and had resided in Swampscott, Mass., for 25 years before moving to Kingston.

He was a graduate of Acton High School and Saint Anselm College where he played football and was inducted in the Saint Anselm College Hall of Fame. He played on the last team at St. Anselm and played professional football for the Providence Steamrollers.

He was a U.S. Naval Air Force and Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving with the 3rd Air Force Division.

Mr. Bondelevitch began his football coaching career in Maynard, Mass., where he coached for one year, then coached in Hudson, Mass., for 3 years before beginning a 24-year tenure as head coach and athletic director with Swampscott High School from 1953 until 1976. He coached at Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, Mass., from 1977 until 1982 when he returned to Swampscott High school from 1983 until 1986.

He was elected to the State Football Players Hall of Fame in 1977. He recorded a career record of 251-125-11 with nine undefeated seasons, 10 Northeast Conference titles, a victory in the first Super Bowl over Catholic Memorial in 1972. He tied Dracut's Ed Murphy for the state record of 41 years in coaching. He was inducted into the Swampscott High School Hall of Fame.

He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia (Donovan) Bondelevitch of Kingston; two daughters, Sally DeCost of Plaistow and Nancy Joy and her husband Alan of Center Barnstead; one son and his wife, David and Rachel Bondelevitch of Hollywood, Calif.; two grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; several nieces and one nephew.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy (Tierney) Bondelevitch; one brother, Barney Bondelevitch; and one sister, Mary Killis.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Front and Lincoln Streets, Exeter. A reception will follow at the Exeter Inn from 10 a.m. to noon.

Committal services will be held Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott, Mass.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Swampscott High School Athletic Dept., c/o Fran York, 207 Forest Ave., Swampscott, MA 01907 or to St. Anselm College, 100 St. Anselm Drive, Manchester, NH 03102.

Alfred G. Clocher III

ELIOT, Maine - Alfred G. Clocher III, 58, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

He was born March 29, 1943, in Wilmington, N.C., the son of Alfred G. and Caroline (Mafley) Clocher II of Lake Helen, Fla. He resided most of his life Peabody, Mass., and had lived in the Seacoast area since 1995 and in Eliot since 1998.

He was a graduate of Peabody High School.

Mr. Clocher was a self employed landscaper and an interstate driver for Westside Trucking of Des Moines, Iowa.

He attended Bethany Church, Greenland, and was a member of the 5th Chapter Motorcycle Club of Lynn, Mass.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Carl Clocher of Peabody; one daughter, Heather Clocher of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and one sister, Christine Clocher of West Hartford, Conn.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Bethany Church, 500 Breakfast Hill Road, Greenland.

Viola Dunn

METHUEN, Mass. - Viola (Lachance) Dunn, 90, formerly of Hampton Beach, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, in Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.

She was born in Methuen, and was a lifelong resident.

She was a graduate of St. Ann Grammar and High School.

Mrs. Dunn was a beautician for 50 years and owned Viola's Beauty Shop and also worked at Bea's and Flo's Beauty shops, all in Lawrence, Mass.

She was a communicant of St. Monica Church, Methuen, and St. Patrick Church, Hampton Beach.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending with her family.

The widow of Leonard J. Dunn, she is survived by two daughters, Donna A. Whittaker and Joyce A. Beauchesne and her husband Paul, all of Methuen; four grandchildren; six great-grandsons; one sister, Florence Piessens of Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Church, Methuen. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.

Samuel M. James

NEWMARKET - Samuel M. James, 81, of Bennett Way, died Friday, March 15, 2002, in Exeter Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Texas.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II where he served as a sergeant.

Mr. James was a pilot in Maine.

He was a member of the Roger E. Cardin Jr. Post No. 114 in Barrington.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rita Cardin James of Newmarket; two sons, Dale James and Butch James, both of Florida; one daughter, Melissa Case of Texas; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 3, at 11 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, Barrington, with the Rev. David Wuori officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Newmarket Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 201, Newmarket, NH 03857.

E. JoAnn Hill

SOUTH HAMPTON - E. JoAnn (Paquette) Hill, 65, died Friday, March 15, 2002, in her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born March 26, 1936, in Manchester, the daughter of Arthur W. and Rena (Ferland) Paquette.

She was a 1956 graduate of Mary Hitchcock Memorial School of Nursing and earned a bachelor of science degree in human services administration.

Mrs. Hill was the nurse manager of Hogan Regional Center, Danvers, Mass. She had previously been a registered nurse in Manchester, Concord, Portland, Maine, and Amesbury, Mass.

She served on the executive committee of the New Hampshire Municipal Association, the board of directors for Seacoast Visiting Nurses and the board of directors of the Haverhill/Newburyport Human Services Inc.

She served as a selectman, on the zoning board, and as a cemetery trustee in South Hampton. She wrote a monthly gardening column in her local paper and was a mentor to many in her community.

She is survived by four children, Heather, Melissa, Julia and Dana; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Nadine Larrabee; two brothers, Victor and Arthur Paquette; and six nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 23, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery, Donald Street, Bedford.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in South Hampton Baptist Church, Jewell Street, South Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-9376.
