Ada C. Erickson

GALION, Ohio - Ada C. Erickson, 88, formerly of North Hampton, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, in Galion Community Hospital.

She was born Nov. 25, 1913, in Hopkinton, Mass., the daughter of the late John and Anna (Okerbloom) Erickson. She moved to North Hampton in 1936 and to Ohio in 1999.

Miss Erickson worked in the kitchen at the Mark Wentworth Home in Portsmouth for many years.

She was a member of United Church of Christ in North Hampton.

She is survived by one nephew, Edward D. Newman of Galion; and several great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to United Church of Christ, 295 Atlantic Ave., North Hampton, NH 03862.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Dorothy E. Farwell

PORTSMOUTH - Dorothy E. "Dottie" Farwell, 84, of 117 Osprey Drive, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at her home.

She was born May 11, 1917, in Manchester, the daughter of the late Charles and Blanch (Beaudett) McCarthy. She lived most of her life in Nashua, Hampton and Portsmouth.

She was educated in Manchester and Nashua schools and was a graduate of Nashua High School.

Mrs. Farwell retired from Lockheed Martin, formerly Sanders Associates, in 1981.

She was a volunteer at Winnacunnet High School Library for several years. She was a member of the Girl Scout Council, Adult CYO, and the Catholic Daughters of America. She volunteered in the offices of mayors Eileen Foley and Evelyn Sirrell and at the Portsmouth Police Department. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen for 12 years. She was a director and hostess at the Wentworth Gardner House and was a volunteer at The Portsmouth Children's Museum and for United Way.

The widow of Francis E. Farwell, who died in 1981, she is survived by one daughter, Frances Dobrowolski of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter F. McCarthy of Manchester.

She was predeceased by one son, Donald C. Farwell, who died in 1986; and two brothers, Robert and Donald McCarthy.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 27, at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Woodbury Avenue, Portsmouth.

Memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Assistance with the arrangements was by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Paulette M. Gibely

SEABROOK - Paulette M. Gibely, 54, of 13 Dixon Way, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at her home.

She was born in Beverly, Mass., the daughter of the late Benjamin and Helen (Duest) Macharterre and had resided in Seabrook since 1990.

She was educated in Beverly schools.

Mrs. Gibely was a matron for the Beverly Police Department, retiring in 1990, and was primarily a homemaker.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping and motorcycling.

She is survived by her husband, Aaron "Ron" Gibely of Seabrook; one daughter, Angela L. Tropiano of Lawrence, Mass.; two grandchildren; one brother, Benjamin Macharterre Jr., of Beverly; one sister, Sandra Nicholson of Beverly; one stepson and his wife, Leo and Chris Gibely of Florida; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Estelle and Thomas Dill of Lynn, Mass., Lynne and Darren Meuse of Beverly, and Roni-Jean and Donald Gibely of Weston, Mass.

Funeral services were held Monday in the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, Hampton. Burial was in Central Cemetery, Beverly.

Theodore W. Roberts

FARMINGTON - Theodore W. Roberts, 57, of Meaderboro Road, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, in Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Rochester.

He was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Granville, N.Y., and had resided in Lexington, Mass. before moving to Farmington four years ago.

He was a graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Mr. Roberts was a controller for Beckton Dickinson Corp., for 26 years.

He was active in town politics and had served on the Farmington Town Budget Committee.

He is survived by his wife, Donna McCann of Farmington; two sons, Trevor Roberts and Shaun Roberts, both of Newton, N.J.; his parents, Ervin and Barbara (Hascall) Carter of Augusta, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Ryanne McCann of Farmington; and one brother, Terry Roberts of Poultney, Vt.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Epping.

Anita Eldridge

RYE - Anita Eldridge, RN, 91, of 795 Washington Road, formerly of Central Road, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Webster at Rye Health and Retirement.

She was born Sept. 19, 1910, in San Macario, Italy, the daughter of the late Luigi and Purissima (DeTomasi) Zocchi. She came to America when she was 9 years old and resided in Newmarket before moving to Rye in 1950.

She was educated in Newmarket schools and was a graduate of the Addison Gilbert Hospital School of Nursing in Gloucester, Mass. She did her post graduate studies in mental and nervous disorders at the New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord.

She was a former member of the New Hampshire Medical Society.

Mrs. Eldridge was affectionately known as "Grammy-Cookie" by her family.

The widow of William W. Eldridge, who died in 1987, she is survived by one son, Roy L. Eldridge of Freedom; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Zocchi of Newmarket; one niece and nephew; and several cousins.

She was predeceased by one brother, Mario Zocchi, who died last month.

Graveside services were held Wednesday in Central Cemetery, Rye, with the Rev. John A. Soil, pastor of Rye Congregational Church, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Rye Fire Department Association, 563 Washington Road, Rye, NH 03870.

Arrangements were by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

William C. Lanphear Sr.

PEABODY, Mass. - William C. Lanphear Sr., 73, died Monday, April 29, 2002, in the Veterans Administration Hospital, West Roxbury, Mass.

He was born Jan. 19, 1929, in East Walpole, Mass., the son of the late Charles P. and Margery (Crandall) Lanphear. He resided in Danvers for many years before moving to Peabody.

He was educated in East Walpole area schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Mr. Lanphear was a finisher and color matcher for Coronet Leather in Georgetown, Mass., retiring after 30 years of service. He had previously worked for Praeger Leather.

He enjoyed fishing, music and gardening at the Enicott Park Gardens in Danvers.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (DeSanctis) Lanphear of Peabody; three sons, William C. Lanphear Jr. of Lynn, Mass., Thomas E. Lanphear of Danvers and Roger Lanphear of Exeter; one daughter, Robin Hoyt of Amesbury, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Diane Melling of Phoenix and Joyce DeSanctis of Danvers; four grandchildren; one sister, Jane Christensen of Sanford, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Ida F. (Martin) Lanphear; four brothers, Charles, Carl, George and Roy Lanphear; and two sisters, Emily Flanagan and Priscilla Denny.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, Essex Co. Branch, P.O. Box 9185, Boston, MA 02205.

Carol W. Eggleston

RAYMOND - Carol W. Eggleston, 69, of 4 Ledgewood Lane, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at the Exeter Hospital.

She was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Seabrook, the daughter of the late Carlton and Barbara (Eaton) Littlefield. She was raised in Seabrook and attended local schools.

Mrs. Eggleston worked as an assembler for Henchels of Newburyport, a manufacturer of circuit boards, for 15 years, retiring in 1994.

After her retirement she made her home in Raymond, moving there from Salisbury, Mass.

She is survived by two sons, Brian Eggleston and Gregory Eggleston, both of Salisbury, Mass.; one daughter, Debra Eggleston of South Berwick, Maine; one brother, Bruce Littlefield, of Salisbury; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

John M. McDonnell

GROVELAND, Mass. - John M. McDonnell, 96, of 40 Elm Park, died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill, Mass.

He was born Nov. 10, 1905 in North Andover, Mass., the son of the late Michael and Hanora (Doyle) McDonnell.

Mr. McDonnell was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a statistical analyst for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, retiring in 1970.

He was a member of the Jackson Club and the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU). He was an avid sports player and was the last surviving member of the Watertown Athletics Association.

He is survived by a daughter, Jane V. Coder and her husband Richard of Newburyport, Mass.; two sons, John McDonnell and his wife Bobbie of Dunwoody, Georgia, and William McDonnell and his wife Gail of North Hampton; and four grandchildren.

Mr. McDonnell was predeceased by his brother "Gus" McDonnell.

By request of the family, funeral services will be private. Relatives and friends may attend a committal service, Tuesday, May 7 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 990 LaGrange St., West Roxbury, Mass.

Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Funeral Home, Newburyport.

Bertha L. Jenkins

EXETER - Bertha L. Jenkins, 92, formerly of Hayes Park, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the Exeter Healthcare.

She was born Dec. 6, 1909 in Pittsfield, the daughter of the late Harry M. and Fannie F. (French) Pierce. She was a resident of Pittsfield for 34 years and resided the rest of her life in Exeter. Mrs. Jenkins was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, Class of 1927.

She worked for 14 years as a clerk at Woolworth's in Exeter

Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing.

She is survived by two sons, Merton Jenkins Jr. of Exeter, and Richard E. Jenkins of Niceville, Fla.; one daughter, Fay Cail of Milton Mills; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was the widow of Merton Jenkins Sr., and was also predeceased by a sister, Beatrice Pierce, of Pittsfield.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at the Floral Park Cemetery in Pittsfield. Pastor Oden Woodward will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, NH Affiliate, 20 Merrimack St., Suite 1, Manchester 03101-2244.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Service, Exeter.
