Jenny L. Sorensen

EAST KINGSTON - Jenny L. (Lium) Sorensen, 94, of Exeter Road, died June 14, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Jan. 18, 1908, in Norway and came to the United States in 1949. She lived in New York City, Florida, and Newmarket before coming to East Kingston 30 years ago.

Mrs. Sorensen was employed at the Balsam's Resort and at a hotel in Florida.

She was a skilled artist who enjoyed pencil sketching and needlepoint and was a member of the Extension Homemakers and the Willing Workers of East Kingston.

The widow of Harold Sorensen, who died in 1971, she is survived by one brother, Even Lium of Norway; and one niece.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Union Cemetery, East Kingston, with the Rev. John Barner officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the East Kingston Public Library, P.O. Box 9, East Kingston, NH 03827

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Mildred K. Harmon

DURHAM - Mildred K. Harmon, 97, formerly of Park Court, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Langdon Place of Dover, where she had resided for the past 11 years.

She was born May 13, 1905, in Pembroke, Ken., the daughter of Edward A. and Lillian (Lewis) Wilson. She had lived in Newton, Mass., for 10 years before moving to Durham in 1932.

Mrs. Harmon was a member of the Community Church of Durham; the Bourgoin-Reardon American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 94 of Durham; the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Auxiliary; a charter member and director of the Oyster River Health Association; and a former member and past president of the University Folk Club.

The widow of Russell S. Harmon, who died in 1986, she is survived by four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one a daughter-in-law.

She was predeceased by one son, Russell S. Harmon Jr., who died in 1987.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Community Church of Durham with the Rev. Mary Westfall officiating. Burial will follow in Durham Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket.

David M. Kelly

HAMPTON - David M. Kelly, 48, of 131 Little River Road, died Monday, July 15, 2002, at his home.

He was born July 18, 1953, in Exeter and was a lifelong resident of Hampton.

He was a graduate of Winnacunnet High School and New Hampshire College.

Mr. Kelly was a software installer for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Portsmouth.

He was a coach with the Hampton Youth Association Baseball Program and was active with the Little Warriors Football Team.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen P. (Carey) Kelly of Hampton; one son, Bryce E. Kelly of Hampton; one daughter, Careyann E. Kelly of Hampton; his mother and stepfather, Constance E. (Hamilton) Kelly-Jardis and her husband Walter and his father and stepmother, Gerald P. and Mary Kelly, all of Hampton; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Belanger of New York City; one brother, Jeffrey P. Kelly of Nesconset, N.Y.; one sister, Carol S. Kelly-Mowers of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory , 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hampton Youth Association, P.O. Box 81, Hampton, NH 03843.

Dorothy P. Marquette

HAMPTON - Dorothy P. "Dot" Marquette, 91, of 22 Tuck Road, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Seacoast Health Center.

She was born Nov. 14, 1910, in Adams, Mass., the daughter of Leander J. and Ellen (Kearns) Wellspeak. She moved to Portsmouth from Pittsfield, Mass., in the late 1970s where she resided for three years before moving to the Dearborn House in Hampton.

Mrs. Marquette had been a secretary for the Berkshire Life Insurance Co. and as a bookkeeper for Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Hampton, and was a former member of St. Stephen's Church in Pittsfield.

She was a major supporter of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, volunteering more than 20,000 hours of service. She had been an assistant Girl Scout leader and a former member of the Pittsfield Grange.

Mrs. Marquette was an accomplished seamstress and received many ribbons at fairs for her crocheting and needlework. She enjoyed performing in Minstrel Shows in Pittsfield, usually playing an end man. She was known at Seacoast Health Center as the "Teddy Bear Lady," because of her collection of nearly 150 bears, which she shared with the residents.

The widow of Harold E. Marquette, who died in 1970, she is survived by one daughter and her husband, Nan and Larry Fahey of Epping; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Gladys Brouker.

Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 High St., Hampton. Burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield, Mass., at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 High St., Hampton, NH 03842.

Assistance with the arrangements was by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, Hampton.

Reginald E. Perry Sr.

EXETER - Reginald E. Perry Sr., 81, of 8 Wayside Drive, died Monday, July 15, 2002, in Exeter Hospital after a courageous battle with heart disease.

He was born May 29, 1921, in Exeter, the son of the late William D. and Harriet M. (Lord) Perry.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving with the 351st Heavy Bomber Group of the 8th Air Force in the European Theater.

Mr. Perry was a retired certified manufacturing engineer.

He was active with the Boy Scouts for more than 20 years serving as Scoutmaster, Explorer post adviser, neighborhood commissioner and assistant district commissioner. He was awarded the Scouters Key and the Scouters Award.

He was a life member of Exeter Chapter 13 Disabled American Veterans; a member and Past Grand Knight of Exeter Council 2179 Knights of Columbus; and life member and past Faithful Navigator of Exeter General Assembly 0639, 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus; former district deputy of the Knights of Columbus and received the high honors of District Deputy of the Year in New Hampshire.

He was a communicant of St. Michael Church, Exeter.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Barnea) Perry; three sons, Michael Perry of Stratham, the Rev. Steven Perry of Pittsfield, Mass., and Reginald "Budd" Perry of Portsmouth; one daughter, Pamela-Sue Brown, and her fiance Mark Cornish, of Exeter; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Eldredge of Exeter; one sister, Frances O'Connor of Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday in St. Michael Church, Exeter. Military burial followed in Exeter Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Exeter Hospital Cardiac Rehab Dept., 10 Buzzell Ave., Exeter, NH 03833, Attn.: Barbara MacDonald.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Stewart D. Thompson

EXETER - Stewart D. Thompson, 91, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at the Rockingham Nursing Home, Brentwood, following a brief illness.

He was born Jan. 1, 1911, in Dudswell, Quebec, Canada, the son of William and Ellen (Bassett) Thompson. He was raised in New Hampshire and had resided in Wolfeboro and Hampton, Clearwater, Fla., and Bristol, Conn., before moving to Exeter eight years ago.

He was a graduate of Keene State College and received his master's degree from the University of Connecticut.

Mr. Thompson was a retired school teacher who taught various grades in the public school system in New Hampshire and taught high school in Bristol, Conn., for 20 years. After retiring from teaching he worked at Phillips Exeter Academy.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet (Gordon) Thompson; two sons, William G. Thompson of Exeter and Stewart A. Thompson of Fairbanks, Alaska; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Allen Thompson of Bristol.

He was predeceased by one daughter, JoEllen MacCluggage of Manchester, Conn., and one son, Robert R. Thompson of Hampton.

There are no calling hours. Committal services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the N.H. Association for the Blind, 25 Walker Road, Concord, NH 03301.

Edwin H. Bjorkman

SEABROOK - Edwin Harold Bjorkman, 87, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Gloucester, Mass.

He was born Sept. 21, 1914, in Saugus, Mass., the son of the late Axel and Amelia (Benson) Bjorkman and had resided in New Hampshire for 22 years.

Mr. Bjorkman was a draftsman for many years.

He was a member of the Masons and the Shriners and enjoyed golf, bowling, skiing, and raking and burning leaves.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Susan Pierce of Hamilton, Mass.; two sons, Nelson C. Bjorkman of Cambridge, Mass., and J. Bradley Pierce and his wife Marilyn of Gloucester; one daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Lee Ingram of North Conway; and two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Ralph, Henry and Eric Bjorkman.

Funeral services were held Thursday in the James C. Greely Funeral Home, Gloucester.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Burns Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.

Raymond M. Boisvert

RAYMOND - Raymond M. Boisvert, 65, of Darren Drive, died Saturday, July 13, 2002, in Parkland Medical Center, Derry, after a brief illness.

He was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Amesbury, Mass., the son of the late Merrille and Lillian (Dauphinais) Boisvert.

He was educated in Amesbury grammar schools and was a graduate of the former Haverhill (Mass.) Trade School.

Mr. Boisvert was employed at Honeywell in Lawrence, Mass., in production control for 35 years and was a driving instructor at Exeter Driving School in Exeter for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Constance (Willette) Boisvert; one son, Steven R. Boisvert of Bow; three daughters, Paula A. Burke of Olympia, Wash., Vicki A. Croteau of Amesbury and Carla J. Berry of Raymond; seven granddaughters; and two sisters, Jeannette Nati of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Anne Marie Currier of Greenville, S.C.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday in Sacred Heart Church, Amesbury.

Memorial donations may be made to the Raymond Ambulance Inc., 1 Scribner Road, Raymond, NH 03077.

Arrangements were by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, Amesbury.

Charlotte A. Berry

SEABROOK - Charlotte Ann (Hurrell) Berry, of 91 Whippoorwill St., died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at her home.

She was born Jan. 9, 1936, in Methuen, Mass., the daughter of the late Richard Hurrell and the late Irene (Cook) Fusco, and had resided in Seabrook since 1984.

Mrs. Berry was a certified nurse's assistant for the Visiting Nurses Association in Haverhill, Mass., retiring in 1995. She had previously been a technician with Digital Equipment Corp. of Salem for 15 years.

She was a member of First Congregational Church of Hampton.

She enjoyed crocheting, playing the organ and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Frederick W. "Fred" Berry of Seabrook; two daughters, Bridget (Lees) Detollenaere and her husband Michael of Derry and Tammy (Scott) Oster of Haverhill; one son and his wife, Jeffrey W. and Stacey Scott of Chelmsford, Mass.; four stepsons and their wives, Frederick W. Jr. and Loretta Berry of California, Kevin and Debbie Berry of Salisbury, Mass., Christopher and Kristin Berry of Exeter, and Michael and Sasha Berry of Ipswich, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Deborah Berry of Salisbury and Lisa Poulin and her husband David of Exeter; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Leonard Hurrell of Portsmouth; one sister, Jacqueline Siraco of Northboro, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in First Congregational Church, 127 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton. Burial will be in Methodist Cemetery, Seabrook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
