Owen H. Curtis

EXETER - Owen H. Curtis, 86, of Crestview Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at his home.

He was born March 19, 1916, in North Attleboro, Mass., the son of the late Owen F. and Minnie A. (Semple) Curtis. He resided in Exeter for many years coming from Danvers, Mass.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was the recipient of a Bronze Star.

Mr. Curtis was a member of Exeter Congregational Church.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews including Janet and Philip Kendrick of Exeter.

Arrangements were incomplete at press time and will be announced by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Edna A. Eaton

SEABROOK - Edna A. Eaton, 65, of 46 Adams Ave., died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, Mass., after a sudden illness.

She was born June 7, 1937, in Newburyport the daughter of the late Charles and Edna Mae (Dow) Blaisdell and had resided in Seabrook for 38 years coming from Salisbury, Mass.

Mrs. Eaton worked for the former Welpro Shoe Co. for several years and as a shellfish worker.

She was a member of the Raymond E. Walton American Legion Post 70 Women’s Auxiliary.

The widow of Alton D. "Zilly" Eaton, who died in 2001, she is survived by three children, Harry L. Blaisdell, Charlene M. Eaton Mills and Alton D. "Al" Eaton III, all of Seabrook; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Charles Blaisdell of Newton; one sister, Lillian J. Hennessey of San Diego, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers.

Services were held Sunday in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton, with the Rev. Elizabeth J. Walton, pastor of Four Corners Advent Christian Church, officiating.

Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Peter P. Giera

BOW - Peter Paul Giera, 47, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Parkland Medical Center, Derry.

He was born June 10, 1955, in Beverly, Mass., the son of Stephen Giera and Joan (McGeoghan) Emerson.

He was a 1974 graduate of Coe Brown High School where he played baseball and was a member of the 1974 State Championship team.

Mr. Giera formerly owned and operated Broadcove Builders in Hopkinton.

He was previously employed as a master carpenter with the local union in Portsmouth for many years.

He enjoyed hockey and loved animals.

In addition to his mother of Hernando, Fla., he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Julie Giera of Bow; two sons, Ryan Giera and Kevin Giera, both of Bow; one daughter, Megan Giera of Bow; one brother, Theodore Giera of Hernando; two sisters, Pamela Hall of Sandown and Patricia Giera of Hernando; and five nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Epping. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery, Epping.

Eva M. DesBarbieux

BRENTWOOD - Eva M. DesBarbieux, 82, of North Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of the late Wilfred and Albertine (Beauchesne) St. Pierre. She was raised in Lawrence and lived in Salem, Mass., for many years before moving to Exeter in 1980 and to Brentwood in 1998.

She attended Lawrence High School.

Mrs. DesBarbieux worked for Western Electric in North Andover, Mass.

She was a communicant of St. Michael Church, Exeter, and was involved with the Christmas Fair and cleaning the church.

She enjoyed making bisque dolls.

The widow of Robert A. DesBarbieux, who died in 1983, she is survived by one son, Kenneth G. DesBarbieux of New Boston; one daughter and her husband, Linda A. and Kevin B. Johnston of Brentwood; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Leo St. Pierre of Windham; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday in St. Michael Church. Burial was in Exeter Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 10 Ferry St., Suite 419, Concord, NH 03301-4059.

Arrangements were by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.

Charles H. Goodridge Jr.

EXETER - Charles H. Goodridge Jr., 86, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002.

He was born May 13, 1916, in Boston the son of C. Harold and Florence A. (Nichols) Goodridge. He was raised in Wellesley, Mass., and summered on First Cliff in Scituate, Mass.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in the southwest Pacific and served as a lieutenant commander during the Korean conflict in Japan.

He attended Antioch College in Ohio.

Mr. Goodridge worked for Graybar Electric for 34 years winning numerous awards for his salesmanship.

He was an avid sailor and photographer and designed his homes in Cumberland and Yarmouth, Maine, Gloucester, Va., and Stratham. After his retirement he did volunteer work with Literacy Volunteers and with local hospitals in Gloucester and Stratham.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice May (Smith) Goodridge; two sons and their wives, Jonathan and Susan Goodridge of Lexington, Mass., and Peter S. and Tracey Goodridge of Stratham; one daughter and her husband, Ann E. Goodridge and Barry Bernard of Portland, Maine; seven grandchildren; one brother, John N. Goodridge of Cushing and Portland.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Amy Jane, who died in 1963.

Private services were held Friday in St. Luke’s Cathedral.

Memorial donations may be made to Park Lawn Association, 10833 South LaPorte, Oak Lawn, IL 60453, a home for children with developmental disabilities.

Arrangements were by Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, Portland.

Earl C. Holmes Sr.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Master Sgt. Earl C. Holmes Sr., (USAF Ret.), 67, died November 9, 2002, in Wichita Falls.

He was born Oct. 23, 1935, in Exeter, the son of the late John and Helen (Rumrill) Holmes and had resided in Wichita Falls for 28 years.

He served with the U.S. Air Force for 23½ years.

He enjoyed woodworking, music and collected books and stamps. He was an avid bowler in military and civilian leagues and enjoyed billiards and the Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by one son, Earl Holmes Jr. of Iowa Park, Texas; five grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Nickerson of Brentwood and Kay LeClair of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Cynthia Matick and Josephine Pelczar; and two brothers, Forrest and Robert Holmes.

Marilyn L. Hill

SEABROOK - Marilyn L. Hill, 44, of 281 South Main St., died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, in Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, Mass., after a sudden illness.

She was born Oct. 27, 1958, in Exeter, the daughter of Yvonne (Perkins) Nedeau Randall of Seabrook and the late Harold "Hardy" Nedeau, and was a lifelong resident of Seabrook.

She was a 1976 graduate of Winnacunnet High School.

Mrs. Hill was the office manager at MacKenzie Heating & Cooling of Seabrook. She was previously a shellfish worker and stay-at-home mom.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 25 years, Raymond L. Hill; two sons, Raymond L. Hill III and Christopher R. Hill, both of Seabrook; one daughter, Kayleigh M. Hill of Seabrook; two grandchildren; one brother, Harold "Hardy" Nedeau of Seabrook; three sisters, Moreen Paquette of Epping, Teri Provencher and Cathy Moore, both of Seabrook; two uncles, Clyde F. Brown and Harold Perkins, both of Seabrook; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Rand Memorial Church, South Main St., Seabrook. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Katherine E. Kleczek

NEWMARKET - Katherine E. Kleczek, 83, of Dame Road, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at her daughter’s home in Newmarket.

She was born May 28, 1919, in Manchester, the daughter of Franciszek and Katarzyna (Ludwin) Smas. She was raised in Manchester and moved to Newmarket in 1934.

Mrs. Kleczek worked on the family farm and also worked full-time in various factories in the seacoast area, raising seven children by herself.

She loved flowers and gardens.

The widow of Stephen Kleczek, who died in 1963, she is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Stephen and Brenda Kelczek Jr. and Frank and Vicki Kleczek, all of Newmarket, Gene and June Kleczek of Nottingham, and Kenneth Kleczek of Newmarket; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Elaine and Charles Parent of Lee, Nancy and Bruce Charest of Northwood, and Cathy Keefe of Newmarket; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one stepbrother, Frank Smas of Newmarket; one sister, Jean Gagnon of Somersworth; one stepsister, Adele Marrocco of McLean, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Adolph, Steven and Frederick, and a stepbrother, Henry.

Private services were held at the convenience of the family.

Margaret F. Larnard

BAREFOOT BAY, Fla. - Margaret F. Larnard, 87, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, in Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, Fla., after a lengthy illness.

She was born Sept. 7, 1915, in Seabrook, and moved to Florida in 1987, returning to Seabrook every summer.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Raymond Larnard; one daughter, Andrea of Hampton; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Eleanor "Ellie" Evans of Florida, who died April 10.

No services are scheduled.

Cremation arrangements were by the Indian River Crematory of Vero Beach, Fla.

Brian L. MacLean

MADBURY - Brian Lee MacLean, 56, of 16 Moharimet Drive, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, after a sudden illness.

He was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Concord, the son of Maynard and Laura (Stocker) MacLean and was raised in Hampton.

He was a 1971 graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

Mr. MacLean worked for the N.H. Department of Transportation for more than 31 years.

He attended Lee Church Congregational.

He was a member of the Lee Police Department for 15 years, a member and former president of the Durham Ambulance Corps and one of the original members of the Barrington Ambulance Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Simpson) MacLean of Madbury; one daughter and her husband, Tammy E. and Steven Ciminesi of Manchester; one son, Jeffrey J. MacLean of Vermont; two brothers, Douglass MacLean of Nashua and John MacLean of Southlake, Tex.; one sister, Nancy Carey of Portsmouth, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Saturday in Lee Church Congregational.
