Bruce R. Coburn

NORTH HAMPTON - Bruce R. Coburn, 45, of 27 Goss Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, after being stricken ill at his office.

He was born Sept. 22, 1957, in Brockton, Mass., the son of Virginia (Berks) Coburn of Hanover, Mass., and the late Robert B. Coburn. He was raised in Brockton and had resided in Hampton for 13 years before moving to North Hampton in 1996.

He was a graduate of Hanover (Mass.) High School and a 1979 magna cum laude graduate of Plymouth State College with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

Mr. Coburn was a certified public accountant and was a partner and business adviser with BCOB, Certified Public Accountants, PC, of Hampton, specializing in tax planning and preparation and small business accounting advice.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, running, kayaking and genealogy.

He was treasurer of The Music Hall in Portsmouth; a member of the National Society of CPAs; and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 21 years, Eva M. (Vangel) Coburn of North Hampton; two sons, Nicholas B. Coburn and Zachary R. Coburn of North Hampton; one brother, Steve Coburn of Marshfield, Mass.; three sisters, Debra Coburn and Janis Carvalho, both of Hanover, and Sally Coburn of Kingston, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. After cremation, private interment will be in Center Cemetery, North Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Music Hall, 104 Congress St., Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Bradford C. Jett Jr.

GROTON, Mass. - Bradford C. Jett Jr., 24, died Dec. 12, 2002, after a sudden illness at Children’s Extended Care Center where he resided.

He was born Aug. 18, 1978, in Exeter, the son of Bradford C. and Penny (Freeman) Jett of Hampton.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, John T. Jett of Maryland and Robert A. Jett of Farmington; his maternal grandmother, Jacqueline Freeman of Hampton; his paternal grandparents, Earl and Elsie Anthony of Wolfeboro; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made to the CECC Family Room, 22 Hillside Ave., Groton, MA 01450.

Arrangements were by the Badger Funeral Home, Groton.

Beverly M. Quintal

RAYMOND - Beverly M. Quintal, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation Center in Exeter, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Derry, the daughter of the late Arthur and Laura (Raymond) Pinet and had been a longtime resident of Raymond.

Mrs. Quintal was a clerk at the Ben Franklin Department Store for more than 20 years.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Epping, and was a member of the choir.

She was a former member of the Ray-Fre Senior Citizens Group and was past president of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4479 Ladies Auxiliary in Raymond.

The widow of Rudolph Quintal, who died in 1986, she is survived by one son, Joseph Quintal of Epping; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Albert Pinet of Merrimack and Fred Pinet of Hudson; three sisters, Grace Rollins of Raymond and Mary Thurston and Virginia Page, both of Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Route 27, Epping. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond.

Richard F. Schultz Sr.

EXETER - Richard F. Schultz Sr., 46, of 19 Dartmouth St., died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 8, 1956, in Exeter, the son of the late Richard E. and Mabel L. (Fisk) Schultz and was a lifelong resident of Exeter.

Mr. Schultz was employed by the George Wool Recycling Plant in Exeter.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and he enjoyed the outdoors and music.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sue (Eldredge) Schultz of Exeter; one son, Richard F. Schultz Jr. of Exeter; one daughter, Katie Sue Schultz of Exeter; one brother, Jason R. Schultz of Kittery, Maine; one sister, Sandra A. Small of Byfield, Mass.; his stepmother, Marilyn (Bernier) Schultz of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. There are no funeral services planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family, c/o Bonnie Schultz, 19 Dartmouth St., Exeter, NH 03833.

Melvin H. Clark

NORTH HAMPTON - Melvin H. "Mel" Clark, 64, of 7 Post Road, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, after a brief illness.

He was born April 25, 1938, in Exeter, the son of the late Morris and Rinda (Locke) Clark.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Clark owned and operated Mel’s Truck Sales in North Hampton for 45 years, selling the business in 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Regan) Clark; one daughter and her husband, Kathleen M. and Bruce Stimon of Kensington, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m., in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, North Hampton.

Florence R. Turcotte

NEWMARKET - Florence R. Turcotte, 94, formerly of 9 Granite St., died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, where she had resided for 10 years.

She was born May 18, 1908, in Newmarket the daughter of Arthur J. and Rose de Lima (Lambert)Turcotte and had resided in Keene and Exeter.

She was a graduate of nursing school in Manchester.

Turcotte was a private duty nurse for many years in Keene and Exeter.

She attended St. Mary Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 67, all in Newmarket.

She is survived by one sister, Juliette M. Turcotte of Salem, Mass.; three half sisters, who reside in Vermont and New York; two sisters-in-law, Jeannette Turcotte of Newmarket and Anna Turcotte of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Romeo and Leo Turcotte.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, at 11 a.m., in St. Mary Church, with the Rev. John Finnigan as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Alvin J. Zink Jr.

KENSINGTON - Alvin J. Zink Jr., 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002.

He was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Methuen, Mass., and resided in Ballardvale, Mass., for more than 50 years, moving to Kensington in 1994.

He graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in electrical engineering.

Zink worked for United Shoe Machinery Corporation for most of his career.

He was an avid reader and traveler, and had a fondness and appreciation for Morocco and its people. He had a love for woodworking, the White Mountains and sailing the Maine coast.

The widower of Muriel Zink, who died in 1994, he is survived by one daughter, Martha Gibson of Portland., Ore.; one son, Al Zink of Kensington; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Private services will be held in the spring.

Salvatore J. DeFranc

SEABROOK - Salvatore J. DeFranco, 90, of 86 Brown Ave., died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Exeter.

He was born April 4, 1912, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late John J. and Josephine (Messina) DeFranco. He moved to Seabrook in 1982.

He was a graduate of Lawrence High School.

Mr. Brown worked for the Boston Sheet Metal Co. in Boston for many years.

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church, Seabrook.

He enjoyed jazz and baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Oriana M. (DeSmet) DeFranco of Seabrook; one son, John J. DeFranco of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, J. Geraldine Purcell of Attleboro, Mass.; two grandsons; one great-grandson; one sister, Grace Boremi of Sandown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Joseph DeFranco, and one sister, Angela White.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Church, Route 1A, Seabrook Beach. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lawrence.

Memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Arthur P. Fortin

SEABROOK - Arthur P. "Chippy" Fortin, 60, of 30 Pine St., died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, Mass.

He was born Jan. 15, 1942, in Boston, the son of Bella (Guimond) Fortin of Hampton and the late George A. Fortin.

He was a graduate of Amesbury (Mass.) High School and attended Northeastern University.

Mr. Fortin was a well-known real estate broker and developer, and owned Fortin Realtors in Seabrook for 30 years. He was the founding president of the Salem Multiple Listing Service.

He was an active member and past president of the Seabrook Lions Club, and served as chairman of many committees. He was a former director of the New Hampshire Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, a former member of the New Hampshire Juvenile Diabetes Association, and was chairman of Camp Carefree. He was a charter director of Lions Camp Pride in New Durham, a special needs and diabetes awareness camp for children. He was instrumental in beginning the Blind Bowler Program supported by the New Hampshire Lions Club, which still continues today.

He served as president of the Business Association of Greater Seabrook, was a former member of the Seabrook Housing Authority, was a justice of the peace/notary public, and served on former Gov. John Sununu’s Job Task Force.

Mr. Fortin and his wife hosted more than 25 children in their home through the youth exchange program. He was a world traveler who enjoyed sailing, dancing, history and gardening.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda M. (Choquette) Fortin of Seabrook; two daughters and their husbands, Lynne and Glenn Miller, and Amy and James Theodorou, all of Seabrook; seven grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Maggie Choquette of Seabrook; two sisters, Bella Hussey and Georgette Biron, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Fred Fortin.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at noon in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. A time of fellowship will follow the Mass at the Raymond E. Walton American Legion Post No. 70, 169 Walton Road, Seabrook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Seabrook Lions Club, P.O. Box 1200, Seabrook, NH 03874.
