Edith L. Carr

ROCKAWAY TWP. – Edith L. Carr, 84, died Saturday May 29, 2010 at home.

Born in Millinocket, Maine, she moved to Rockaway Twp. 57 years ago.

Mrs. Carr was a homemaker.

She was predeceased by her husband Clarence in 2001; her son, Dale Carr in 2002 and her daughter, Christine Anderson in 2004.

She is survived by two sons, Andrew and Bradley Carr; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Marcella Union cemetery, Rockaway on Wednesday, June 2 at 10:00 am.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 1 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm only at Whitham - Kanapaux Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Keller Avenue, Rockaway, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Dialysis Center of Northwest Jersey, P.O. Box 66 Succasunna, NJ 07876. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Steven M. Wendt

WHARTON – Steven M. Wendt, 52, died Tuesday after a long illness at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare’s Hospital Dover.

Born in Bayshore, NY he lived in Rockaway Twp. before moving to Wharton nine years ago.

He was predeceased by his father John J. in 1975.

He is survived by his mother, Gloria Wendt of Wharton; two brothers, Michael and his wife Karen of Lake Hopatcong and Richard and his wife Lisa of York, PA; two nephews, Alex and Corey; and an uncle, Bruce Yancey and his wife Connie of Fayetteville, NY.

A funeral Mass will be held Monday May 24, at St. Cecilia’s Church, Rockaway at 10:00 a.m. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. only at Whitham- Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave. Rockaway.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.

Eva M. Stokes

ROCKAWAY TWP. – Eva M. Stokes, 74, died Monday at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Born in Dover, she was a lifelong resident of Rockaway Twp.

Mrs. Stokes was a Cafeteria Worker in several Rockaway Twp. schools for 15 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Harold W. in 2000 and her step son Scott.

She is survived by her son, Mark Stokes; four step children: William, Robert and Thomas Stokes, and Donna Udasco; two brothers Randall and Harold Stalter; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22 at 9: 15 a.m. from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway to a funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Rockaway at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Restland Memorial Park. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. only.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.

Gertrude S. Campbell

ROCKAWAY TWP. – Gertrude S. Campbell, 99, of Rockaway Twp. died Tuesday at home.

Born in Irvington, she lived in Rockaway for the last 44 years.

Mrs. Campbell was a Telephone Operator with NJ Bell until her retirement in 1976.

She was predeceased by her husband John H. in 1981.

She is survived by one son: John M. Campbell of Rockaway; three nieces: Linda Cook, Carol Perry, and Patricia Palermino; and two nephews, Theodore Sanderson, and James McMullin.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 21 at 9:00 a.m. from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway to a funeral Mass at St. Cecilia’s Church, Rockaway at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. only.

Esther D. Maioran

ROCKAWAY TWP. – Esther (DeFelice) Maioran died on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Care One in Morristown. She was 82.

Born in Netcong, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Rosina DeFelice. She lived in Morristown before moving to Rockaway Twp. 45 years ago.

Mrs. Maioran was an administrative assistant at the Rockaway Twp. Municipal Offices for 11 years before her retirement in 1988.

She was a parishioner of St. Cecilia’s Church in Rockaway and past-president of the Rosary Society. Mrs. Maioran was very active in the community; her memberships included the St. Cecilia’s Seniors, Warner Lambert Seniors, and the Rockaway Twp. Seniors where she was a Sunshine Lady of the Rockaway Twp. Club.

She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have had her in their lives.

She was predeceased by her sisters Marie Lowry and Josephine Goodenough.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Horatio (Ray); four children, Denise Cygan of Vernon, Holly Murray of Sparta, Raymond Maioran of Rockaway and Carol Maioran of Belleville; three sisters Jean Marconi of Morris Plains, Lois Sodano of Madison, and Judy DeFelice of NY; two brothers Pat DeFelice of Netcong and Mike DeFelice of Morristown; and 8 grandchildren, Ashley and Amanda Cygan, Danielle, Christopher and Nicholas Murray, and Angela, Anthony and Marissa Maioran.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15 at 9:00 a.m. from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway followed by a funeral Mass at St. Cecilia’s Church, Rockaway at 10:00 a.m. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. only.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd. Ste. 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.

Kelly C. Marsh-Seguinot

ROCKAWAY – Kelly C. Marsh-Seguinot died suddenly on Thursday, May 6, 2010 in Connecticut. She was 39.

Born in Bloomfield, she lived in Hartford, CT and previously lived in Morris County.

She is survived by three children, Joseph Marsh, and Maria and Mateo Seguinot-Kelly; her mother Alexa Marsh; two brothers Anthony and Scott Marsh; a sister Gina Scucci; her aunts, Toni N., Vicki, Lisa, Toni K., and April; and her uncles, Michael, Lon and Stephen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 13 at 9:30 a.m. from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway to a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Rockaway. Interment at Restland Memorial Park, E. Hanover. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. only.

Elizabeth S. Raymond

LEXINGTON, SC - Elizabeth Sylvia “Betty” (Royek) Raymond, 92, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2010 after a courageous fight during which she never once complained. She died in Lexington, SC at the home of her son and daughter-in-law with whom lived for the past 10 years. She was born in Denville on September 22, 1917 to the late Andrew and Mary (Kopenski) Royek.

Betty was the widow of Frank William Raymond, with whom she started and ran the “White Top Taxi” in Rockaway. Together they lived there until his passing in 1972. She had worked at Curtiss Wright and Howmet prior to the start of the taxi business. Before to moving to SC she had lived in Landing for many years.

Miss “Elizabeth” became a true southern lady enjoying her life in South Carolina, but always cherished her roots and family in New Jersey. She was a communicant of Corpus Christi R.C. Church in Lexington, SC and had previously been a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Rockaway.

Betty was a remarkable woman who’s faith, strength and dignity were an inspiration and lesson to everyone she met. She spent most of her life caring for others, both family and friends, even taking great effort to send remembrances of birthdays, anniversaries and caring messages to those she loved until the last days of her life.

In addition to her husband and parents, her brother Andrew Royek and her son-in-law James Lambert also predeceased her.

Left to cherish her loving lessons and precious memories are her daughters, Anita Lambert of Vonore, TN and Virginia (Paul) Iapalucci of Dover; her sons Stephen (Patty) Raymond of Gallaway (formerly of Landing) and Frank (Carolyn – Lynn) Raymond of Lexington, SC. She also leaves 14 grandchildren: Lorreta Lambert of Luxembourg, Europe, Pamela Lambert of Phelps NY, Kathy Lambert of Rochester NY, Teresa Pelenchar of Northboro, MA, Lisa Iapalucci of De Pere, WI, Michael (Debbie) Raymond of Mt. Olive, Debbie (Tim) Shaffer of Great Meadows, Dawn (Leo) Lewis of East Stroudsburg, PA, Kim (Bill) MacQuesten of Rockaway, Keith (Lori) Raymond of East Stroudsburg, PA, Kim (Mike) McDonald of Rahway, Jeff (Marcia) Simpson of Urbana, MD, Joseph Iapalucci of Landing and Amy Simpson of Langhorne, PA, and 22 great grandchildren. Her brother Steven Royek of Rockaway, a sister Mary Hueston of Palm Bay, FL, Sister - in-law Alma Royek of Dover, as well as many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends, also survive her.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 10 at 9: 15 a.m. from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway to a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Rockaway. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. only at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions to: Hospice Care of Tri County, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 100, Columbia, SC can be made in her memory.

Donald Lee Rathfon, Sr.

ROCKAWAY – Donald Lee Rathfon, Sr. died on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at home. He was 69.

Born in Middlebrook, PA, he lived in Rockaway for the past 15 years.

Mr. Rathfon was a machinist at Flextronics in Parsippany for 26 years before his retirement. For the last 5 years he worked at Walmart in Rockaway.

He is survived by his wife Arlene of 50 years; his daughter Rosanne Westergaard of Ogednsburg; three sons, Donald Jr. and Glen of Rockaway and Jeffery of Woodland Park; a sister Carol Troup of PA; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday prior to the service from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Sandra M. James

ROCKAWAY TWP. – Sandra M. James died on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Morristown Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 57.

Born in Fort Wayne, IN, she lived in Rockaway.

She was predeceased by her parents William Maxwell and Barbara Jane Hart.

Sandy is survived by her husband George; her son, Paul; her daughter Laura; sisters: Nancy (Joe) Moore of Richmond, VA, Diana (Don) Roembke of Greenville, SC, Maxine (Steve) Miller of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Mary (Bob) Fanger and Denise (Pat) Kennedy of Ft. Wayne, IN; a Sister - in-law Kathy (Frank) Galovic of Bradyville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19 at 9:30 a.m. from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway to a funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church in Mountain Lakes at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Cecilia’s cemetery, Rockaway. Visiting hours will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: PNH Research and Support Foundation, PO Box 10983, Rockville, MD 20849. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Joseph D. Nedo

ROCKAWAY – Joseph David Nedo died on Thursday, April 8, 2010 in Dover. He was 57.

Born in Dover, he lived in Rockaway for most of his life.

Mr. Nedo was formerly a foreman with Peers Moving Co. in Dover for 10 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Dorothy Nedo.

He is survived by his son Thomas Nedo of Bangor, PA; his brother Ralph Nedo of Dingmans Ferry, PA; his sister Rose Kuter of Hopatcong; his granddaughter Haley Nedo; three nieces Jen, Amanda, and Melissa; and his nephew Mark.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 16 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Missionaries of God, 34 Hillside Ave., Dover, NJ 07801. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
