Marion Joan Adelizio

ROCKAWAY — Marion Joan Adelizio died on Friday, March 26, 2010 at her home. She was 88.

Born in Newark, she lived in East Orange before moving to Rockaway in 1988.

Mrs. Adelizio was a cook and worked at Morris Knolls High School and Our Lady of All Souls Church in E. Orange.

She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Rockaway.

She is survived by her daughter: Peggy McOwan of Parsippany, a son: John Adelizio of Rockaway; a brother: Nelson Bachman of Toms River; two grandchildren: Dawn Marie and Robert John McOwan; and two grand-dogs Cheyenne and Rocco.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 30 at 9: 15am from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway to a funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Rockaway. Interment at Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. only.

Jinquan Zheng

Jinquan Zheng died on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was 73.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Hanover.

Helen M. Kocur

ROCKAWAY — Helen M. Kocur died on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at St. Clare's Hospital/Denville after a long illness. She was 88.

Born in Dover, she lived in Wharton before moving to Rockaway 63 years ago.

Mrs. Kocur was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Joseph S. Kocur; her daughter: Carol Wilk and her husband Casey of Bergenfield; her son: Joseph G. of Panama City Beach, FL; and her grandson, 2nd Lt. Christopher Wilk and his wife Sarah of Augusta, GA; along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29 at 9: 15 a.m. from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway to a funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Rockaway. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. only.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Alzheimer's Assn., Greater NJ Chapter, 400 Morris Ave. Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Katherine R. Vogel

DENVILLE – Katherine R. Vogel died on Sunday, March 10, 2010 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare’s Hospital/Dover. She was 91.

Born in Paterson, she lived there until moving to St. Francis Residential Community in Denville 10 years ago.

Mrs. Vogel was a registered nurse prior to starting her family.

She was predeceased by her husband William J. in 1986 and her grandson Billy Vogel in 1999.

She is survived by her son William F. of Rockaway Twp.; her daughter Katherine Scott of Lanoka Harbor; three granddaughters, Kelly Heery, Jennifer Quartucci and Amy Breslin; and a great-granddaughter Brianna Heery.

Visiting hours at the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. only. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of St. Francis Residential Community, 122 Diamond Spring Rd., Denville (Visitation hours will be held at the Chapel prior to the Mass from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.) Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre cemetery, Totowa.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 532 Lafayette Rd., Sparta, NJ 07871. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Shane M. Hogan

BLAIRSTOWN – Shane M. Hogan, 36, died suddenly on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

Born in Dover, Shane lived in Rockaway for most of his life before moving to Blairstown.

He served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corp from 1993 to 2001.

He is survived by his mother Maryellen Hogan and his step-father Kenny of Blairstown; Uncle Kevin of Mattydale, NY, Uncle Sean of Rockaway, Aunt Maureen of Frelinghuysen, Uncle Brian of Denville; and his cousins, Janelle Hogan, Ian and Courtney Schumacher, Sean and Corey Hogan, Chelsea Schumacher and Shayna Hogan.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 16 at 9: 15 a.m. from the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Avenue Rockaway, to a funeral Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Rockaway at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. only.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org); or to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 (www.dav.org). Envelopes will be at funeral home.

Filomena Ippolito

ROCKAWAY – Filomena (nee Landi) Ippolito beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed on March 10, 2010.

Born in Rockaway, she was predeceased by her husband Anthony. Together, they owned and operated Anthony’s Beauty Salon for a combined 53 years before her retirement at the age of 81.

Her strong faith, endless generosity and deep compassion, was loved and respected by those who came to know her.

Filomena is survived by her children Peter and his wife Barbara of CA, Rosemarie Rudin and her husband Jeff of MA, Anthony and his wife Kathleen of NJ, and Cynthia Ippolito of PA; a brother Philip Landi; two sisters, Rose Narcise and Stella Bencel. Filomena was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 15 at 9: 15 a.m. from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway to a funeral Mass celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Church in Rockaway at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Cecilia’s cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. only.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Italian Home for Children, 1125 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

George J. Garneau

ROCKAWAY TWP. – George J. Garneau died on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Staten Island. He was 44.

Born in Denville, he lived in Rockaway for most of his life before moving to New York.

He was self-employed carpenter.

George was kind, fun, always made you laugh and had many friends. He will be sadly missed, always in our hearts and never forgotten.

He is survived by his son Jesse Cosentino of Dover; his daughter Jacie Concheiro of Brooklyn, NY; his father Maurice; his mother Frances Veacotte; his brother Ed Garneau; four sisters, Suzanne Penney, Lucille Smalle, Patricia Flechsig, and Mary Jane Garneau; and an expected grandson, Jesse Cosentino, Jr.

Visiting hours will be held on Mon, March 8 from 5-8 p.m. only at the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway. A graveside service will be held on Weds. March 10 at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Locust Hill cemetery, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to honor his expected grandchild.

Debra Joan Coad

LAKE HIAWATHA – Debra Joan Coad (nee Seck) passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. She was 51.

Born in Jersey City, she was raised in Parsippany graduated from Parsippany Hills High School. Debra then attended Dover Business College where she received her Legal Secretary Diploma. She lived in Rockaway Borough for many years before moving to Lake Hiawatha a year and a half ago.

Debra was an administrative associate; throughout her career she worked for Knoll Pharmaceuticals, St. Clare’s Health Services and Pocono Healthy Communities Alliance.

She was predeceased by her mother Joan, and her brother Thomas Seck.

She is survived by her two children Jennifer R. Coad of Lake Hiawatha, Michael W. Coad of Rockaway; her father Joseph S. Seck of Effort, PA; a sister, Joan Sweet; and two brothers, Timothy and Joseph Seck.

You are everything that a mother should be and more. We love you mommy, our guardian angel.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 7 from 2-6 p.m. only at the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway. A private funeral Mass will be held at a later date.

Madeline Tucciarone

TOMS RIVER – Madeline Tucciarone died on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at home. She was 86.

Born in Bronx, NY, she lived in Rockaway Borough for many years and Oviedo, FL for two years before moving to Toms River in 1998.

Before retiring she was a secretary for Tenneco in Rockaway for 12 years.

Mrs. Tucciarone was formerly a parishioner of St. Cecilia’s Church.

She was predeceased by her husband John Robert in 1968; and her fiancé Ellsworth Bush of Netcong in 2009.

She is survived by two sons John Robert Jr. of Augusta, GA, and Michael of Derry, NH; and two grandchildren Kathryn Turner of Augusta, GA and 1st Lt. John R. III of Enterprise, AL.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4, at 9: 15 a.m. from the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway to a funeral Mass at St. Cecilia’s Church, Rockaway at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Cecilia’s cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. only.

Florence E. Labash

BRICK – Florence E. “Flossie” Labash (nee Heller) left us on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at home after fighting a long battle with Alzheimer’s, she fought it like the “Heller” she was. She was 90.

Born in Scranton, PA, she lived in Rockaway before moving to Brick five years ago.

Before retiring she was employed by Howmet Corp. in Rockaway for over 20 years as a production worker.

She was predeceased by her 12 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by the love of her life Carl “Chickie” Buono for over 58 years; her loving son, B. Thomas “TJ” James of Toms River; her girls, Robin and her husband Chuck DiVine of Brick and Heidi Brown of Hopatcong, along with her great grandchildren the loves of her life, Corey, Zachary and Samantha DiVine.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb.16, at 9:30 a.m. at the Whitham – Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway. Interment at Union cemetery, Madisonville, PA. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. only.

Donations may be made to: the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave. Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Antoinette Petrosino

ROCKAWAY TWP. – Antoinette (Ann) Petrosino, 90, passed away at her home on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 in Rockaway, NJ.

Antoinette was born on April 14, 1919 in Newark, relocated to Bloomfield in 1953, where she lived for 45 years before moving to Rockaway. After a brief career as a medical technician, Ann stayed home to raise her family. Antoinette was a parishioner of St. Cecilia’s Church, Rockaway, and a member of the Rosary Society of St. Tomas in Bloomfield, The Catholic Daughters of America of Caldwell and the St. Domenici Guild of Caldwell College.

She was predeceased by her husband Otto in 1988.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia and husband Walter Stepowyj, son Armand and wife Linda Petrosino, daughter Michelle Petrosino and grandchildren Nicholas, Jenna, Michael, Heather, Chelsea and Kaila.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 9: 15 a.m. from the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Avenue Rockaway, to a funeral Mass at St. Cecelia R.C. Church, Rockaway at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Hanover. Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. only.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN would be appreciated.
