Edith Thorp

Edith Thorp, 86, of Plainfield Twp., formerly of Phillipsburg and Harmony Twp., died Sunday, October 10, 2004 in Gracedale, Lower Nazareth Twp.

Born March 12, 1918 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Paige Baker.

Her husband, the late Andrew J. Thorp died in 1978.

Survivors include two sons, Andrew E. of Easton and Richard J. of Earlville, NY; two daughters, Evelyn Seiple of Plainfield Twp., and Patricia Fry of Palmer Twp.; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. Several brothers and sisters died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the Stewartsville Lutheran Cemetery, Stewartsville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider an Alzheimer's Association of their choice.

Grace M. Todaro

Grace M. Todaro, 86, of Palmer Township, died Sunday, September 3, 2006 in Bethlehem, Pa.

She was a floor girl for the former L and D Lingerie, Easton.

Born July 11, 1920 in Phillipsburg, NJ, Grace was a daughter of the late Sebastiano and Anna Insana Todaro.

She was a member of Ss. Philip and James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

Grace is survived by two sisters, Anne Marie Grando, with whom she lived and Rose Gianetto of Pacific Palisades, California; a brother, Joseph A. of Catasauqua, Pa., and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Salvatore J. and Peter C. and a sister, Lena Leardi all died earlier.

Funeral services will begin 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

John P. Todaro

John P. Todaro, 79, of Lopatcong Twp., formerly of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, August 24, 2000 in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg.

He worked in the shipping departments of both Transogram in Easton and Equipto in Tatamy.

Born April 30, 1921 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late George and Josephine Rumore Todaro.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church in Phillipsburg.

He was a Technician Fifth Grade in the U.S. Army and served with the Battery A 130th Field Artillery Battalion during World War Two. Having been in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe, he received the American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War Two Victory Medal.

He was a member of the O'Donnell Apartments Social Club and the Phillipsburg Elks, both in Phillipsburg; Order of Fleas, V.F.W. Post 1290 and the Lester W. Pfeffer American Legion Post 611, Liberty Hose Co., and Citizen Hose Co., Heights Athletic Assoc., the Seventh Ward Democratic Club all of Easton, Safety First Fire Co., in West Easton,

He is survived by two sisters, Rose M. Frinzi of Lopatcong Twp. and Josephine Todaro of Phillipsburg. Four brothers, Thomas, Salvatore, Joseph and Samuel and a sister, Marie Presto all died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Monday from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. in St. Philip and St. James Church, 426 S Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ. Calling hours will be held 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Salvatore J. Todaro

Salvatore J. "Sammy" Todaro, 79, of Palmer Twp. and a longtime resident of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, January 11, 2004 in Easton Hospital.

He was a construction foreman and shop steward for the Laborer's Union of North America, Local 569, Washington, N.J., retiring in 1988.

Born October 19, 1924 in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late Sebastiano and Anna Insana Todaro.

He graduated Phillipsburg High School in 1942.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

An Army veteran of World War Two, he served under General Patton's 3rd Army and with the 179th Combat Engineers in the campaigns in Ardennes, Central Europe, Northern France and Rhineland. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern, Good Conduct and World War Two Service Medals.

He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post, 1290, Easton and a 50 year Gold Card member of Laborer's International Union of North America, Local 593, Somerville, N.J.

Survivors include a twin brother, Joseph A. Todaro of Catasauqua; three sisters, Rose Gianetto of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Grace M. Todaro and Anne Marie Grando, with whom he resided; four nephews, two nieces, six great nieces, three great nephews and a great-great nephew. A brother, Peter C., and a sister, Lena A. Leardi both died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A calling hour will be held from 8:00 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home Friday. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.

Benjamin T. Todd

Benjamin T. Todd, 80, of Saylorsburg, (Ross Township) Pa., died Tuesday, February 13, 2001 in Easton Hospital.

He was a self-employed master carpenter and cabinet maker in Saylorsburg. He was formerly a processor for Keystone Chemical Co. in Hecktown for twenty years.

Born September 18, 1920 in Easton, he was the son of the late Jacob and Irene Dalrymple Todd.

He attended the Phillipsburg Alliance Church in Phillipsburg.

He was a sergeant the United States Army during World War Two and served with the 15th Army Air Force Emergency Rescue B Squadron. His service to his country took him to Bismark-Archipelago, Luzon, New Guinea, Northern Solomons, Southern Philippines and the Western Pacific. He was awarded the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the World War Two Victory Medal

He and his wife, the former Betty L. Snyder observed their fifty-seventh wedding anniversary last September 26.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Barry T. Todd and his wife Carol of Ross Township, three sisters, Mary Hallet of Phillipsburg, Flora Mitchel of Easton and Frances Lear of Mansfield Twp., NJ and a grandson, Jeremy Todd of Ross Township. A brother Willard Todd and a step-father, Frank Butz died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Phillipsburg Alliance Church, 255 Lincoln St., Phillipsburg. Pastor Randy W. Nelson and Rev. Michael Yount will officiate the services. There will be no calling hours. Burial and military honors will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Fairmount Cemetery, Belivdere Rd., Phillipsburg.

The family requests memorial contributions to the church or the V.F.W. Post 1290, 516 Northampton St., Easton, Pa., 18042.

The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the funeral arrangements.

Grace M. Tolotta

Grace M. Tolotta, 72, of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, August 18, 1996 in her home.

She had worked in the housekeeping department of the Hunterdon Developmental Center, Clinton for about 10 years, retiring in 1985. She had formerly worked as a sewing machine operator for the Strongwear Pants Factory, which later became Mr. Pants in Easton. She had also assisted her husband in his business at Tolotta Bros. Shoe Repair on Heckman St., Phillipsburg.

Born October 8, 1923 in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Marietta Boscia Boscia.

She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

Her husband, Albert died in 1975.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph A. And Anthony J., with whom she resided and three grandchildren.

Services will be held 10:15 AM Wednesday, from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 AM Wednesday in St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in St. Philip and St. James Cemetery, Greenwich Twp.. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the funeral home.

Ruth Tolotta

Ruth Tolotta, 74, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, May 7, 1992 in St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill, Pa.

She was a seamstress at the Gary Lee Sportswear in Phillipsburg and retired in 1974.

Born June 6, 1917 in Gaeta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore, Sr. and Ann Marie Chiavrelotti Pugliese.

She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

Mrs. Tolotta and her husband, John, observed their 55th wedding anniversary this past August 10th.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Joseph F. Tolotta of Phillipsburg, three daughters, Grace V. Stettner of Phillipsburg, Jo Anne Riddle and Ann Marie Schumann, both of Bethlehem; two brothers, Salvatore and Joseph Pugliese, both of Phillipsburg and two sisters, Mary Russo of Jersey City and Rose M. Patti of Lopatcong Twp.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.in St. Philip and St. James Church, 426 S Main St., Phillipsburg. Entombment will take place in the Holy Apostle's Mausoleum, Greenwich Twp., NJ.

The family requests memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 505 N Parkway, PO Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103-3704.

Vincenza F. Tolotta

Vincenza F. Tolotta, 88, of Phillipsburg, died Friday, February 17, 2006 in Easton Hospital, Wilson Borough.

She was a clerk with the Department of Community Affairs, Bureau of Aging, in Trenton, NJ for 12 years, retiring in 1990.

Born September 3, 1917 in New Village, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Stephanie Colucci Fucci.

She was a member of Ss. Philip and James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, the Blue Army Shrine in Washington, NJ and the St. Catherine of Sienna Chapter of St. Dominic's Third Order, Philadelphia and the O'Donnell Social Club in Phillipsburg.

Her husband, the late Ralph B. Tolotta died in 1976.

She is survived by three brothers, Antonio and Nicholas, both of Phillipsburg and Michael of Germantown, Tenn.; two sisters, Mabel Vasquez of Beattystown, NJ and Lena Stauffer of Washington, NJ and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, George, August and Clement "Lundy" and two sisters, Lucy Bernardesca and Stephanie Fucci.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 pm in the funeral home.

Randall H. "Randy" Tophoney

Randall H. "Randy" Tophoney, 38, of Lopatcong Twp., died Wednesday, March 31, 1999. Memorial services will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in St. John's Lutheran Church, 278 Chambers St., Phillipsburg. A calling hour will be held 6:00 p.m. until time of services Tuesday in the church. Cremation and interment services will be private.The family requests memorial contributions to benefit his daughter, Mandy Tophoney, made payable to Doris Tophoney and sent to Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.

John Torcivia

John "Porky" Torcivia, 82, of Lopatcong Twp., formerly of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, August 20, 2000 in the Brakeley Center, Lopatcong Twp., NJ.

He retired in 1980 from the Warren County Road Department after 20 years of service. He formerly worked for R & J Tanning in Easton.

Born March 20, 1918 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Paul and Rosalie Stefano Torcivia.

He was a Private First Class in the Army during World War Two and served with the 60th Infantry Regiment. In addition to the American Defense Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for exemplary conduct in ground combat against the armed enemy during the Algeria-French Morocco Campaign in the North African Theater of Operations.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg and its Over-Fifties Club.

His memberships also include the Order of Fleas, Citizen's Hose, Liberty Hose, Wilson Boro Republican Club and the Y.M.I.A.

He was a former Warren County Democratic Committeeman.

His wife, the former Mary Alfier died April 27, 1998.

He is survived by a daughter, Rosalie M., wife of Francis P. Aiello of Lopatcong Twp., a brother, Salvatore of Easton and a sister, Mary Alteri of Bethlehem and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Charles, Paul and Joseph and a sister, Bessie Herman all died earlier.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in St. Philip and St. James Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ. A calling hour will be held from one hour prior to the services in the funeral home on Wednesday.

Mary A. Torcivia

Mary A. Torcivia, 78, of Lopatcong Twp., formerly of Phillipsburg, died Monday, April 27, 1998 in Warren Hospital.

She was a sewing machine operator for Shaprio and Sons and last worked for Trans-O-Gram Toy Factory, both in Easton.

Born June 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah DePeitro Alfier.

She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, where she was also a member of the Over Fifties Club.

She was also a member of the A.A.R.P. and volunteered for many years as a neighborhood collector for the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes.

Mary and her husband, John Torcivia observed their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary March 7.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Rosalie M. Aiello of Lopatcong Twp and several nieces and nephews. Four brother, Philip, Nicholas, Anthony and Thomas, and three sisters, Grace Franceschino, Anna Scarpino and Jennie Patti, all died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, 426 S Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in St. Philip and St. James Cemetery, Greenwich Twp. Calling hours will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Paul Torcivia, Jr.

Paul Torcivia, Jr., 69, of Lopatcong Twp., died Saturday, January 29, 1994 in Easton Hospital.

He was employed as a crane operator with the Philadelphia, Bethlehem and New England Railroad, Co. at Bethlehem Steel from 1953 until he retired in 1987. He was a member of the Untied Steel Workers's of America, Local 2595.

Born April 30, 1924 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Paul and Rosalie Stefano Torcivia, Sr.

He was an Army veteran and attained the rank of Private First Class and had served with Company "I", 7th Regiment as a rifleman during World War Two. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon Victory Medal.

He was also a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from July to December, 1940.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

In addition to his wife, the former Joyce E. Graner, he is survived by a son, Jack M. of Nazareth, Pa.; two daughters, Sherri E. of Phillipsburg and Terry L. of St. Mary's, Georgia; two brothers, John of Phillipsburg and Salvatore or Easton; a sister, Mary Alteri of Bethlehem and three grandsons. He was pre-deceased by two sons, Guy Lewis Torcivia in 1972 and Paul Thomas Torcivia in 1978.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. in the church. Entombment will take place in Holy Apostle's Mausoleum, Greenwich Twp., NJ. Calling hours will be from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Dorothy May Toth

Dorothy May Toth, 82, of Alpha, died Sunday, September 15, 2002 in Warren Hospital.

Born June 4, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Chester and May Fitzgerald Gross.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Alpha, Alpha, N.J.

She and her husband, Zaltan J., observed their forty-ninth wedding anniversary June 27th.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son William and his wife Sharon of Roseville, California; a daughter Anna May and her husband Stephen Luchansky of Laurel, Delaware; a brother Francis "Pete" Gross of Rockhill, Pa.; a sister Anna Van Vorst of St. Petersburg, Florida and five grandchildren, Jason, Ashley, Megan, Brandi and Stephen Luchansky.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, in the United Presbyterian Church of Alpha, High Street, Alpha. The Rev. James Newman will officiate. Burial will be in the United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Alpha. Calling hours will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg.
