PETER A. MENTA, 69, of TOMS RIVER

PETER A. MENTA, 69, of TOMS RIVER, died yesterday at home. He was a boiler repairman for Public Service Electric and Gas Co., Jersey City, for 24 years, retiring in 1993. Before that, he was the owner and operator of D and P Embroidery Factory, West New York, for 20 years. He was a communicant of St. Justin's Roman Catholic Church, Toms River, and a former communicant of Our Lady of Libera Roman Catholic Church, West New York. He served in the Navy Reserves. Born in North Bergen, he lived there and in West New York before moving to Toms River in 1994.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Kammerbauer Menta; three sons, Rocco of Toms River, Peter A. Jr. of Silverton, Toms River, and Steven of North Bergen; a brother, Harry of Plainfield; and three grandchildren, Philomena, Rocco and Angelo Menta, all of Toms River.

Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River. A funeral service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Mass will be offered 9:30 a.m. at St. Justin's Church, Toms River. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.

MARY "MIMI" ANTHES, 43, of Citra, Fla., formerly of MANASQUAN

MARY "MIMI" ANTHES, 43, of Citra, Fla., formerly of MANASQUAN, died Saturday at home. She attended St. Dennis Grammar School, Manasquan, St. Rose High School, Belmar, and was a graduate of John I. Leonard High School, Lake Worth, Fla. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Born in Point Pleasant, she lived in Manasquan before moving to Florida in 1971.

Surviving are her husband, Tom Mangino; a son, David Pitman; a daughter, Nancy Pitman; her mother, Mary Anthes of Palm Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Steve Anthes of Los Gatos, Calif., and Mike Anthes of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; and a grandson, David.

Donations may be made to Hospice of Ocala, Fla., or the American Cancer Society. National Cremation Society, Ocala, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.

LEWIS M. COATS, AGE 70, NEPTUNE

Lewis M. Coats died Sunday at home. He was 70.

He was born in West Plains, Mo., and lived in Neptune since 1967.

He retired from the Army in 1971 after 21 years of service, attaining the rank of sergeant first class. He served in the Korean War, and in Cambodia and Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 346, Neptune.

After retiring from the Army, he was a civilian defense contractor for the federal government before retiring in 1993.

He was a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Innocents, Neptune.

His wife, Elizabeth, died in 1994. A sister, Patricia Brewer, also died previously.

Surviving are two sons, Gregory of Neptune and Clifford of Holly Hill, Fla.; a daughter, Elizabeth Markulin of Neptune; four brothers, James of Mountain Grove, Mo., Richard of Mountain Home, Ark., Roy of Dennellon, Fla., and Robert of Norcross, Ga.; two sisters, Marjorie Curtis of Toppenish, Wash., and Sue Taylor, also of Washington state, and four grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ely Funeral Home, 3316 Route 33, Neptune, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Holy Innocents.

DOROTHY FEINSTEIN, AGE 84, BAYONNE

Dorothy Feinstein died Sunday at Beth Israel Hospital, Newark. She was 84.

She was born in Minsk, Russia and lived there and in Jersey City before moving to Bayonne 43 years ago.

She retired in 1950 after five years as a saleswoman at Wonder Stores of Jersey City.

She was a member of the women's group of Yeshiva in Hudson County, a volunteer for Cancer Care of Bayonne, a life member of Hadassah of Hudson County, and a member of the Sisterhood of Temple Ohav Shalom of Bayonne. She also was a member of the Zionists of America in the late 1970s.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth and Norman; a sister, Claire Cohn, and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Menorah Chapels at Millburn, 2950 Vauxhall Road, Union. Interment will be at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus.

FRANK B. GLOTZ, AGE 90, LINDEN

Frank B. Glotz died Sunday at Delaire Nursing and Convalescent Center, Linden. He was 90.

He was born in Flemington and lived in Elizabeth for more than 40 years before moving to Linden in 1996.

He retired in 1974 after 30 years as a machinist at Hyatt Roller Bearing, Clark.

He was a communicant of St. Adalbert's R.C. Church, Elizabeth.

His wife, Hedwig, died in 1976.

Surviving are a sister, Josephine of Flemington, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday from Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East St. Georges Ave., Linden, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Adalbert's R.C. Church. Burial will be at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge.

DIANA JOHNSON, AGE 56, WALL

Diana McNeill Johnson died Sunday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She was 56.

She was born in Jersey City and lived in Old Bridge before moving to Wall more than three years ago.

Surviving are her husband, Richard; a son, Brian McNeill of Howell; a brother, Edward Smith Jr. of Bayville; three sisters, Carol Luthi of Rehoboth, Mass., Helen Wasaliewsli of Tampa, Fla., and Joan Gluck of Barnegat, and two grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6250 Highway 9, Howell. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lakewood.

Ernest Gamble Jr.

Ernest Gamble Jr., 82, of Manahawkin, died, July 25, at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin.

Born in Sewickly, Pa., he resided in Manahawkin, since 1997, and lived in Surf City and Ridgewood.

He was a chemist for Ken Tile Floor Manufacturing Co., Brooklyn, N.Y. and employed for 31 years. He retired in 1985.

Ernest served in the Army in World War II from 1942-1946. He received his PhD in physical chemistry in 1954 from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa. He was a member of the Third Armored Division Association; the Long Beach Island chapter American Association of Retired Persons, and the American Chemist Society. He was a congregant of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Brant Beach.

He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Ethel, nee Vornhold, in 1983.

Surviving are his son, Jeffrey Gamble of Manahawkin; daughters, Karen Ellwood of Terrance, Calif., Kathy Stiebritz of Washington's Crossing, Pa.; one step-son, Charles Rothermel of Atlanta, Calif.; nine grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

A memorial Mass took place at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Brant Beach on July 29. Private cremation was at Garden State Crematory, North Bergen.

Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, was in charge of arrangements.

Doris Mae Johnson

Doris Mae Johnson, 73, of Pahrump, Nev., died, July 19, in Las Vegas, Nev.

She was born in Manahawkin and lived in Cedar Run before moving to Pahrump, Nev. in 1977.

Doris was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, coin collecting and puzzles in her spare time. She was also an animal lover.

Surviving are her children, Nancy Tramel, Tampa, Fla., David Johnson, Pahrump, Donnie Giberson, West Creek, Evelyn Kroliczak, Cedar Run, Susan Holmes, Pahrump, Debbie Mortensen, Alamosa, Calif., Bill Johnson, Pahrump, 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis H. Johnson, one son, Donald, and a brother Edward White.

Services and interment for Mrs. Johnson took place July 23, in Pahrump.

Desert Pines Funeral Home Pahrump, (775) 737-8970, handled the arrangements.

Sally R. Wilkins

Sally R. Wilkins (nee Rhawn), 62, of Burlington city and Ship Bottom, passed away at her residence in Burlington City July 27, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Wilkins was born in Riverside, and had been a longtime resident of both Burlington City and Ship Bottom.

She was employed at the time of her illness by the Clover Gardens Florist in Pennsauken. She will be sadly missed by all of her coworkers. She had also worked as a substitute teacher in the Burlington city School District. She was an avid gardener who loved yard sales and especially the beach.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Nathan Wilkins Jr.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Ann Carr of Burlington, Susan DeMore of Mt. Holly, and Barbara and Gary Brock of Burlington, and eight grandchildren, Lauren, Devon, Dallas, Dakota, Nathan III, Jeff, Sean and Kristen.

She is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Helen Rhawn of Kentucky and Hank and Barbara Rhawn of Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Al Renner of Maine; her mother-in-law Margaret and Dean Checchia of Fla., and many nieces, nephews and friends in both Ship Bottom and Burlington.

She also leaves behind her beloved Spikey.

Funeral services will take place at a.m. Tomorrow, at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Colestown Cemetery, Merchantville.

Verna H. Dockery

Verna H. Dockery (nee Mueller), 75, of Waretown died July 28, at the Lacey Nursing Center, Forked River.

Mrs. Dockery who was known as "Vern" was born in Newark and had lived in Rahway and Irvington prior to moving here in 1965.

She was a communicant of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church of Forked River and had served there as the organist for many years. She was also an exempt member of the Waretown First Aid Squad.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond T., in 1991.

Surviving are three sons, Frank P., "Skip," and Richard T., "Rick," both of Waretown and Michael G., "Mike" of Parkertown; one daughter, Kathleen E. Dockery, of Tuckerton; one brother, Frank Mueller, Ocean City, Md.; and three sisters, Florence Helwig, of Irvington, Barbara Koll, Kingman, Ariz., and Phronsie Rhein, of Westfield. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place today at 9:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 203 Lacey Rd., Forked River.

Interment will be in Ocean County Memorial Park, Waretown. Relatives and friends called on Tuesday at the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 Rt. 9 N., Forked River.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, 12 Roszel Rd., Suite C201, Princeton, NJ 08740, would be appreciated.

Irene Pearl Disbrow Breuer

Irene Pearl Disbrow Breuer, 92, of Tuckerton and Little Egg Harbor, died early July 24, at Sea Crest Village.

Born in Philadelphia July 2, 1910, her family moved to West Creek when her grandparents George and Margaret Doderer bought the West Creek Inn in the early 1920s.

She worked at the Baldwin Hotel on Long Beach Island.

She was a lifeguard on Long Beach Island and drove for the Red Cross during World War II.

She and her husband George were original volunteers for Southern Ocean County Hospital.

Her devotion to her family was unique and they were true.

She was known to all as "Grammie."

Her husband George E. Breuer predeceased her as well as her daughter Dorris L. Rodgers; her grandson Lance Rodgers and her great-grandson Brian Keller.

She is survived by her son, Harry R. Disbrow Sr. and his wife Marie (Breuer); her son-in-law, Edward Rodgers of DeBarry, Fla.; two step-daughters, Elaine Spruhde of Philadelphia, Pa. and Elsie and Ed Hawthorne of Newark, Del.; her dear friend, Marie Peterson of Tuckerton, and all their respective families, which include 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her Gordon and Johnson nieces and nephews of West Creek.

Funeral services were conducted at the Maxwell Funeral Home, Little Egg Harbor and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Tuckerton.

Memorials in her memory are being requested to the SOCH Foundation,Manahawkin, the Tuckerton Seaport or the First United Methodist Church, Tuckerton.
