Mary T. McNabb

Mary T. McNabb, 103, of Manahawkin, died July 22 at Southern Ocean Center, Manahawkin.

Born in New York City, N.Y. she resided in N. Beach Haven and Mayetta before moving to Manahawkin.

She was employed by Bell Labs, Whippany, as a cafeteria worker for 10 years, retiring in 1965. She was a member of St. Francis of Assissi Church, Brant Beach and a quilter with the St. Francis Quilting Guild for 20 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Francis in 1955.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Jane Maines of Mayetta; two grandchildren, Johanna Boekell of Mayetta and Arthur S. Maines Jr. of North Beach Haven, and two great-grandchildren, Theresa Boekell at home and Stephen Maines at home.

Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, Manahawkin was in charge of arrangements. Cremation was private.

Holmes I. Russell

Holmes I. Russell, 92, of Barefoot Bay, Fla., died July 23 at Palm Garden of Vero Beach after a prolonged illness.

He was born July 8, 1911 in Barnegat and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1983 from Barnegat Light.

Mr. Russell was a bayman and charter boat captain in New Jersey before his retirement. He worked in the shellfish industry on the Indian River Lagoon after moving to Florida.

Surviving is one daughter, Barbara Cramer of Micco, Fla.; a stepson, Carl Sylvester of Greenacres Fla, a sister, Annabelle Shortell of Stuarts Draft, Va.; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

There will be no repose or visitation and no services are scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that any donations be made to the charity of one's choice in Mr. Russell's memory.

Cremation service was provided by Indian River Cremation Inc., Vero, Beach, Fla.

Michael Francis Dooley (Campoli-Heim)

Michael Francis Dooley (Campoli-Heim), 15, of Stafford, died Sept. 21 as a result of a tragic accident.

Michael was a freshman at Southern Regional High School. He was the captain of the freshman soccer team, and he also played lacrosse and basketball. He was an all-around good athlete, student and friend.

Michael was a great brother and cousin and was loved by all. His constant smile will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his parents Pamela and Frank Heim, Stafford Township, and Michael and Monica Dooley of Arcadia, Calif.; his brothers, Stephen, John, Sean, Thomas, Brandon, and Ryan; his maternal grandparents, Ronald and Patricia Campoli of Stafford Township; his paternal grandparents, Phyllis Townsend of Beach Haven and Wanda Heim of Stafford, Kerry L. Dooley of Nutley and great-grandparents, Wyn and Colin Townsend of England. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, and many cousins too numerous to list.

Viewing hours will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Maxwell Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin.

In lieu of flowers kindly make donations to the Michael F. "Dooley" Scholarship Fund c/o 148 Timberlake Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.

A. Catherine Cerny

A. Catherine Cerny, 90, Manahawkin, died Sept. 16, at Great Bay Nursing and Rehab Center, Little Egg Harbor.

Born in Newark, she resided on Long Beach Island before moving to Manahawkin in 1978.

She was predeceased in 1999 by her husband, William.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia A. Lopez, Manahawkin and Nancy K. Driscoll, West Creek; one brother, George, of Florida; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Cranford and Eleanor Ciuba of Texas; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. Arrangements are by Wood Funeral Home, Tuckerton.

Dominick Mitro

Dominick Mitro, 93, of Waretown, died Aug. 12, at the Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood.

Mr. Mitro was born in Newark, and formerly of Newark he moved to Waretown in 1970.

Mr. Mitro was a factory worker for Ballentine's Brewery, Newark, for 40 years before retiring in 1970. He was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Waretown.

Surviving is his wife, Alice Catherine (Walker).

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 Route 9 North, Forked River.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 367 Route 9, Waretown.

Elizabeth W. Bayard

Elizabeth W. Bayard, "Betty" (Wolff), 66, of the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township, died Sept. 21 at her home.

Mrs. Bayard was born in Newark and lived in Edison prior to moving here in 1994, where she had been a summer resident since 1962.

She worked as a claims technician for Prudential Insurance Co. of Iselin for 11 years, retiring in 1991.

Mrs. Bayard was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Brant Beach Yacht Club. She was a former member of the Long Beach Island Woman's Club.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ralph H.; two sons, Gregory of Scotch Plains and Timothy of Brant Beach; one daughter, Susan Black of Upper Freehold Township, and one brother, William A. Wolff of Herndon, Va.. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Jonathan, Steven, Gregory and Emily.

A memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach. Interment will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10-11 a.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers the family wishes contributions to be made to Southern Ocean Home and Hospice, 1140 Route 72 West, Manahawkin, NJ 08050 in Mrs. Bayard's memory.

Judith Carolyn Kelly

Judith (Judy) Carolyn Kelly (Morris) died Sept. 19, the day of her birth, after a long and courageous battle.

Born in Orange in 1939, she was raised and educated in West Orange. Judy was a graduate of Marywood College. She married Lawrence James Kelly in 1963 and raised a family of three loving children. She was a resident of Mt. Laurel, Moorestown, and Brant Beach, for more than 33 years and also Ponte Vedra, Fla..

Judy became an educator of children. A devout Catholic, she was an active member in parish life and ministries. She was also an enthusiastic volunteer in many community service organizations.

A lover of the beach and sunny days, an avid golfer, dancer and all around fun loving friend to many, she had a smile that could last a lifetime. She will be missed more than she knows.

She was the beloved wife and best friend of Lawrence James Kelly and will be loved forever by her children, Christopher James Kelly and his wife, Patricia Waer Kelly; Philip John Kelly; Carolyn Judith Kelly Bogart and her husband Scott David Bogart, and treasured by her grandchildren Lauren, David, Nicholas and Melissa. She was the dear sister of Rev. Msgr. Philip David Morris; daughter of the late Rose (Scavone) Morris and David Morris and daughter-in-law to the late Charles and Olga Kelly. She is also survived by several loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews she cared for deeply.

Relatives and friends were invited to visit with the family at the Bugbee Riggs Funeral Home, 12th Street and Long Beach Boulevard in Ship Bottom, Long Beach Island, on Sept. 23.

All relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life at The Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 47th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, Brant Beach. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin. Family and friends are requested to wear colors.

Following her wishes to help others in need and support children who have been affected by cancer, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to: Camp No Worries, 5001 Centerton Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.

Marjorie B. Muller

Marjorie B. Weidman Muller, 91, died Thursday, Sept. 18, at Great Bay Nursing Home in Little Egg Harbor of natural causes.

Born Marjorie B. Brown Nov 4, 1912, in Eastport, she was a lifelong resident of One Cumberland Court in Annapolis until 1972.

She was a member of St. Ann's Parish and was active in the Annapolis school system. She was married to Marcel (Mike) Weidmann of Annapolis in 1931, until his death in 1972. She was then married to Naval Academy coach Harvey Muller.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Buchan of Beach Haven; one son, John Weidmann of Medford,; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. she also is survived by three stepsons, Harvey Jr., Robert, and Kurt Muller, of Annapolis.

Interment will be private in Beach Haven. Remembrances in her behalf may be made to the Southern Ocean County Hospital hospice program in Manahawkin.

Wood Funeral Home, Tuckerton was in charge of arrangements.

Meredyth Budd Gehr

Meredyth Budd Gehr, 83, of Beach Haven Terrace died Sunday, Sept. 21.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she summered in Beach Haven Terrace, since 1951 and settled there year-round in 1978. She was formerly of Cherry Hill, Haddon Township and Merchantville.

She was a graduate of Drexel University, Philadelphia.

She was a member of the Ocean Community Church, Manahawkin, and a former volunteer at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin. Most of all she will be remembered as a devoted mother.

Surviving are two daughters, Meredith Gehr Fellows of Media, Pa., and Alexa Gehr Naramore of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, James, Gregory and Daniel Fellows, Peter and Meredyth Naramore, and one great-grandchild, Sierra Fellows. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Elmer and Stanley Budd.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at at Ocean Community Church, Route 72, Manahawkin. Interment will be private.

John M. Pippi

John M. Pippi, 77, of Florida passed away Sept. 14.

John moved to Florida after he retired from the Ship Bottom Police Department.

He attended services at St. David's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Pippi of Davie, Fla.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bradford Justin and Cristofer and Ruth Justin; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jack Field, and one sister, Josephine Montross. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Danielle, Christian, Ryan, and Kelly, and is loved by many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Smith and his daughter Diann Justin.

Friends visited Sept. 19 at Boyd's University Dr. Chapel. There was a prayer service followed by a tributes to a lifetime of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to American Heart Association.

John is loved and will be missed by all.

Elizabeth F. Martin

The life of Elizabeth F. Martin will be celebrated with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church, Beach Haven. Her ashes will be interred in the church's memorial garden.

Elizabeth was born Nov. 6, 1916, in Philadelphia, Pa. After finishing a two-year secretarial school and being hired by Civil Service, she worked in Philadelphia, then Ocala, Florida. From there, Elizabeth was transferred to the campus of the University of Virginia where she met her future husband, Gilbert D. Martin. They were married for 58 years, until his death in April of 2000.

Elizabeth is survived by two sisters, Anna and Eleanor Faure of Philadelphia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gilbert D. Martin III and Karen Martin of Kennet Square, Pa.; and William E. and Mary Jo Martin of Beach Haven; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathyann M. and Thomas J. Dugan of Niceville; two grandsons, Brian T. Dugan of Destin and Michael E. Dugan and his wife Leslie of Tracy, Calif, and two great-grandchildren, Aaron N. Dugan and Hannah Elizabeth Dugan of Valparaiso.

The members of her family thank the "family" at the Alterra Sterling House, where Elizabeth resided for the past year and was known as "Miss Betty," for their love and care. Her family is also very grateful to the wonderful Covenant Hospice Team for providing comfort to Elizabeth and those close to her. We also thank Dr. Ming-Chen Chang, Dr. Harvey Y. Hsiang, Dr. Y. Henry Hsiang and the staff of the Emerald Coast Cancer Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Covenant Hospice, 101 Hart Street, Niceville, FL 32578 or to the American Cancer Society/Niceville Relay for Life.
