Visitation: Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
Service: Wednesday, 9:15 a.m., at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, Sparta.

John C. Jordan
WILMINGTON, Del. — John C. Jordan, 85, formerly of Paterson, died Friday, March 24, 2006, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Wilmington.
Born in Paterson to John and Mary Doyle Jordan, he lived there before moving to Wilmington nine years ago. Mr. Jordan attended Seton Hall University and the University of Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by the Passaic County District Court system as a process server for more than 25 years, retiring in 1986.
His wife, Susan Thomisin Jordan, died in 1990.
Mr. Jordan is survived by two daughters, Susan Mallari and her husband, Joaquin, of Pennsville and Jacqueline Petruzzelli and her husband, Dennis, of Sparta, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, Sparta, at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Visitation will be Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

KLINGENER, FRANCES H., 77, of Stillwater, formerly of Newton, died March 25, 2006.
Service: Wednesday, 11 a.m., at the Andover United Methodist Church, Andover.

STILLWATER — Frances H. Klingener, 77, formerly of Newton, died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at home.
Born in Surgoinesville, Tenn., to the late Charles and Estelle Manis Hagood, she lived in Newton for most of her life, then at Carriage Acres in Hampton for five years before moving to Stillwater recently. A graduate of Newton High School, Mrs. Klingener worked for the Andover Regional Board of Education for 10 years and then at Willow Glen Academy for 10 years before retiring in 2001. She was an active member of the Andover United Methodist Church.
A son, Robert John Klingener, died in 1976.
Mrs. Klingener is survived by her sons, Chuck of Florida, James and his wife, Sandra, of Stillwater, Larry and his wife, Kathy, of Bartonsville, Pa., Jay of Colorado and Thomas of California, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Andover United Methodist Church, Route 517, Andover. Interment of cremains will follow at Newton Cemetery.
Memorial donations to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, N.J. 07860, would be greatly appreciated.
The Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, is in charge of arrangements.

SMITH, FRANCES K.M., 79, of Sparta, died March 23, 2006.
Funeral Mass: Monday, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, Sparta.

SPARTA — Frances K.M. Smith, 79, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at the Arbor Glen Nursing Home in Pompton Plains following a long illness.
Born in Newark, she resided in Prince Edward Island, Canada, for many years. She also lived in Newton and moved to Sparta in 1991. The daughter of the late Cyril J. and Alice C. McQuaid Kenny, Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and worked for many years as a private cook for a family in New York City.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Stephen Murphy and Leo Smith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Ken Murphy of Prince Edward Island and Reggie Murphy of Montclair; her daughter, Bridget Schnell of Montclair; her brother, Robert Kenny of Rye, N.Y.; her sister, Jeanette Connolly of Brooklyn, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, Sparta. A private interment service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Route 206), Newton.

TONER, RONALD GARY, 60, of Wantage, died March 19, 2006.
Memorial service will be held in the spring.

Ronald Gary Toner
WANTAGE — Ronald Gary Toner, 60, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Toner was born in Rahway and resided in Verona before moving to Sussex County five years ago. His career in the landscaping industry spanned more than 30 years and included landscape design, construction and installation. The former owner of Highland Gardens of Wantage, Mr. Toner worked for Samson Landscape Construction of West Orange, Alan Cruse Landscape Materials of Fairfield and, most recently, Turf Grass Inc. of Millburn.
Mr. Toner was a former member of the Lake Hopatcong and Fairfield Elks lodges, and served as president of the Pace CB Club in the 1970s.
He was predeceased by a son, Ronald G. Toner Jr.
Mr. Toner is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Gottlieb Toner; children, Dorothy George and her husband, Mark, of Morris Township, William M. Toner, at home, Dolores, Diana and Denise; and a grandson, Kyle George.
Arrangements are by Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St., Sussex. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The William M. Toner Education Fund, c/o Dorothy George, 43 Fanok Road, Morristown, N.J. 07960.

LAFAYETTE — Alfred Nurge, 83, died Friday, March 24, 2006, at home.
Born in Bayonne to the late Henry and Helen Nurge, he resided there for many years before moving to Lafayette full time. Mr. Nurge was a graduate of the Phillip Vroom High School in Bayonne, class of 1940. He worked in the printing department at Ford Motor Co. in Newark for more than 20 years, retiring in 1984 to the family property in Lafayette. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting with his late brothers Henry, John and Frank Nurge.
Survivors include his sister, Helen Nurge of Lafayette, and his nephew, John Nurge and his wife, Dorothy, of Andover.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m., at Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Route 206), Newton. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Service: Monday, 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Frederick Robert Sandman
GREENTOWN, Pa. — Frederick Robert Sandman, 63, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, Pa.
Born in Bayonne, the son of the late John and Emily Trebour Sandman, he lived in Greentown for the past 16 years. A woodworker by trade, Mr. Sandman worked in residential construction. He was a fine woodworker and cabinet maker, and enjoyed the wildlife that surrounded his home in Greentown.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Tozer Sandman of Newton; two daughters, Tracey Sandman and her husband, Bart Crum, of Oak Ridge and Debra Williams and her husband, John, of Newton; a son, Jeffrey Sandman and his wife, Alyson Maniscalco, of Newton; grandchildren Kayla and Kelsie Williams of Newton; and a brother, Richard Sandman and his wife, Marie, of Greentown.
A prayer service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Monday in the Arthur J. Frey Funeral Home, Route 191, village of LaAnna, South Sterling, Pa. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Patient Welfare Fund of Brighten at Julia Ribaudo, 1404 Golf Park Drive, Lake Ariel, Pa. 18436.

Service: Wednesday, 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Margaret R. Temple
VERO BEACH, Fla. — Margaret R. Temple, 63, formerly of Frankford, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
Born in Jersey City to the late James and Aileen Kennedy Moore, Mrs. Temple lived in the Culver Lake section of Frankford for the past 14 years, having summered there since 1985. Before moving to Culver Lake, she lived in Hackettstown for 25 years. Mrs. Temple and her husband moved to Vero Beach four weeks ago.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Temple was secretary to the board secretary of the Mansfield Township Board of Education. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, the Hackettstown League of Women Voters, the Women's Club of Culver Lake, and served on the Board of Education in Hackettstown, the Hackettstown Environmental Commission, and as a driver for the Meals On Wheels program.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Cathleen E. Martinez.
Mrs. Temple is survived by her husband of 40 years, Thomas M. Temple; her daughter, Christine McDuffie of Wauwatosa, Wis.; her son, Jeffrey Temple of East Stroudsburg, Pa; five brothers, James Moore of Catawba, N.C., Michael Moore of Neptune, George Moore of Nazareth, Pa., Thomas Moore of Hazlet and Joseph Moore of Port Monmouth; and four grandchildren, Thomas John Vellinga, Sean and Morgan McDuffie and Christopher Martinez.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Newton Memorial Hospital, 175 High St., Newton, N.J. 07860.
