RICHARD "RICH" J. O'MALLEY SR., 66, of Crestwood Village IV, Whiting, MANCHESTER
RICHARD "RICH" J. O'MALLEY SR., 66, of Crestwood Village IV, Whiting, MANCHESTER, died yesterday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was a systems analyst with Sound Design Corporation for 15 years, retiring in 1995. He was an Army veteran. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, Whiting. He was a member of the Irish-American Club, Whiting; the Shuffle Board Club of Village IV; a volunteer driver for Somebody C.A.R.E.S., Whiting; a member the YMCA of Toms River; and a third-degree knight of the Knights of Columbus, Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Jackson before moving to Crestwood Village in 1998.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert T. O'Malley. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Rose Marie McBride O'Malley; two sons, Richard James Jr. of Middletown, and Kevin Patrick of Weehawken; three daughters, Ann Marie McDonald of Lakewood, Margaret Rose Ahmed of Toms River, and Rosemary Hartmann of Medford; two brothers, Charles of Woodmere, Long Island, and Edward of Maspeth, N.Y.; three sisters, Ellen Jane Vinson and Kathleen Young, both of Whiting, Manchester, and Margaret Stevenson of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and six grandchildren, Ryan, Meghan, Jamil, Sean, Brendan and Shannon.
Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Entombment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery and Mausoleum, Lakewood.

ROBERT DOHERTY, 82, of Haven Beach, LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP
ROBERT DOHERTY, 82, of Haven Beach, LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, died Saturday at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford. He worked for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania as a district manager for more than 33 years, retiring in 1973. After retiring, he worked for Long Beach Township and Ocean County as a building inspector for 13 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Brant Beach, and its Men's Club. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and a member for more than 50 years of Masonic Lodge 3, Philadelphia. He was a former member of the Haven Beach Club and the Marlins Tuna Club, Beach Haven. Born in Philadelphia and formerly of North Hills, Pa., he was a summer resident of Haven Beach for many years before moving there permanently in 1973.
His wife, Jean O'Neill Doherty, died April; and a son, Craig, died in 1979. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Rawles of Manahawkin, Stafford; a brother, William of Naples, Fla.; and two grandsons, Brent and Derrick.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Long Beach Boulevard and 59th Street, Brant Beach. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Long Beach Boulevard and 59th Street, Brant Beach, NJ 08008 or the Long Beach Township Historic Rescue Boat Monument, 6805 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach, NJ 08008. Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, Barnegat, is in charge of arrangements.

Andy Mathews, company vice president
CHATHAM -- Andy Mathews of Chatham Borough, died Tuesday (June 19, 2001). Born and raised in New London, Conn., Mr. Mathews lived in Summit and New Providence before moving to Chatham in 1974.
He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business from Seton Hall University. Mr. Mathews worked for the past 52 years at the Colvin Friedman Co. in Springfield as a vice president of production. He also worked for the past 20 years as a special officer for both the New Providence and Chatham police departments.
Surviving are his wife, Judith Gottshall Mathews, RN, PhD.; his daughters, Paige Monsell and her husband, Kevin, Stacey Pacio and her husband, Anthony; grandchildren, Jamie Leigh and Shannon Burke; and stepchildren, Theodore, Mark and Thomas Hardgrove.
A Celebration Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Church, 85 Washington Ave., Chatham. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Muhlenberg Schools Scholarship Fund, c/o Muhlenberg Foundation, Park Avenue and Randolph Road, Plainfield, NJ 07061. Arrangements are by William A. Bradley & Son, Chatham.

Anna Van Auken, loving grandmother
MORENO VALLEY, Calif. -- Anna Van Auken, 98, died Saturday (June 16, 2001) in Fontana, Calif.
Born in Italy, she lived in Bridgewater before moving to California eight years ago. She was employed as a matron for the Somerville Board of Education and Dr. Goldsmith.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Marie Rose Carrube, in 1993.
Surviving are her stepson, John Lucario; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. Arrangements are by Bruce C. Van Arsdale Funeral Home, 101 North Gaston Ave., Somerville.

Diane Hajdamacha, homemaker
HACKETTSTOWN -- Diane Solowinski Hajdamacha, 39, died Saturday (June 16, 2001). She was born in Passaic, and formerly resided in East Rutherford before moving to Hackettstown 11 years ago.
She was a homemaker and former member of Wallington Most Sacred Heart Church, and the Northwest Jersey Club of Deaf in Mountain Lakes.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley Hajdamacha of Hackettstown; her son and daughter, Marvin and Nancy of Hackettstown; her father, Henry Solowinski and mother, Eleanor Katocs Solowinski of East Rutherford; her brother, Eric Solowinski of East Rutherford; her sister, Karen Kowalski of East Rutherford; and maternal grandparents, Eleanor and Andrew Katocs of East Rutherford.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday from Kamienski Funeral Home, 106 Locust Ave., Wallington, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass at Most Sacred Heart. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Louis DePaolo, World War II veteran
BOUND BROOK -- Louis DePaolo, 81, died Tuesday (June 19, 2001) at his home. He was born in Bound Brook and was a lifelong resident here.
He was a medical technician for 30 years at Lyons V.A. Hospital, retiring in 1981. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Bound Brook, and a member of the Bound Brook Senior Citizens. Mr. DePaolo was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Louis always enjoyed finding something to do around his home. He was always outside having conversations with many friends and neighbors.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Menapace and Nancy Erickson.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Theresa Mortaruolo DePaolo; two sons, Dr. Louis V. DePaolo Jr. of Rockville, Md., and his daughter-in-law, Claire, and Gregory DePaolo and daughter-in-law, Debra of Pine Brook; two sisters, Grace Carbo of Toms River and Gloria Kirkwood of Bound Brook; and four granddaughters.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Conroy Funeral Home, 21 E. Second St., Bound Brook, followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Bound Brook. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

FRANKLIN -- Louis M.Totten, 88, of Franklin died Monday (June 18, 2001) at McCarrick Care Center in Franklin. Born in Luzeme, Pa., he lived in Cranford for 48 years, and resided in Franklin for the past eight years.
He attended Drew University and Wharton School of Business before settling in New Jersey. He was a manager at the New York office of Zenith Radio Corp. for 15 years, then opened his own business, "Hearing Aid Center of Central Jersey" with offices in Plainfield, Westfield and Somerville.
He was a member of the United Methodist Churches of Cranford and New Brunswick; the Kiwanis Club of Plainfield; the Anchor Lodge F.A.M.; and the Salaam Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Beatrice, and his son, Michael of Franklin.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church of New Brunswick, with the Rev. Sydney Sadio, pastor, officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the United Methodist Church of New Brunswick. Arrangements are by the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.

BRENDA LEE KING, AGE 40, SOMERSET
Brenda Lee King, 40, died yesterday at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick.
She was born in Hamilton Township and lived there until moving to Somerset in 1992. She was a registered nurse at Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Greystone Park, N.J.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Mariano King; her two sons, Philip Alexander King, at home, and Michael Simon of Hamilton Township; her parents, Robert and Barbara Wenzel, three brothers, Robert, James and John Wenzel, and two sisters, Jennifer Wenzel and Stephanie Arebalo, all of Hamilton Township, and one expected grandchild.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset. Entombment will follow at St. Peter's Mausoleum in New Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call today from 7-9 p.m. only at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Somerset County Division, 600 First Ave., Raritan, NJ 08869.
