JIMMIE RAND POTTS SR., 71, of JACKSON, died Tuesday, July 25, at home. Mr. Potts was born in Beckley, W.Va. and had lived in Englishtown before moving to Jackson in 1977. He served as a U.S. Navy Seabee prior to joining the U.S. Army. He served one tour of duty in Vietnam. He was a Naval Petty Officer having served from 1952 to 1959. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1972 with the rank of master sergeant. During this time, he received the U.S. Army's highest military award for heroism outside of combat. He was a member of the V.F.W. Mr. Potts was the first PBA president of the Manalapan Police Dept. He was a member of the Monmouth, State Chief of Police and International Chiefs of Police Association. He was a 1980 graduate of the F.B.I. Academy. Mr. Potts joined the Manalapan Police Department as a patrolman in 1972. He reached the ranks of lieutenant in 1977, captain in 1980, and chief in 1991. He retired in 1997.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Gorman Potts; two sons, Jimmie R. Potts Jr. of Deltona, Fla., and Eric Potts (a police officer in Plainsboro Township) of Ewing Township; two daughters, De-Anna Kostyszyn of McKinney, Texas, and Elaine Reutter of Delanco; and 11 grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a committal service at Monmouth Memorial Park. The inurnment of ashes will take place at Arlington National Cemetery - date and time to be announced.

BRYAN G. PRESTON, 75, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Sunday, July 16, at home. Mr. Preston was born in Brooklyn and had lived in the Ridgewood section and the Glendale section of Queens before moving to Freehold Township in 1996. Mr. Preston was a driver for the U.S. Post Office in Flushing for 20 years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Preston was a parishioner of The Church of St. Robert Bellarmine, Freehold Township. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had served in Korea.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Preston; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Kevin Vesey of St. James, Long Island, Patricia and John Putre of Mahopac, N.Y., and Jacqueline and Gary Fuchs of Manalapan; a brother, John Preston of Minnesota; and eight grandchildren, Kevin, Sean, Daniel, Stephen, Nicole, John, Lauren, and Kristen.

Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Preston may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, NJ 07702 and would be appreciated.

KATHLEEN MARIE KEARNS QUINN, 45, of HOWELL, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, at home. Mrs. Quinn was born in Long Branch and had lived in Ocean Township before moving to Howell in 1989. Kathleen was a graduate of Ocean Township High School and attended Brookdale Community College. She was the owner of Beauty Elements, a beauty supply company in Toms River.

Surviving are her husband, Robert J. Quinn; a son, Robert Quinn, at home; a daughter, Nicole Quinn, at home; her parents, John and Lorraine Kearns of Oakhurst, Ocean Township; her maternal grandmother, Philomena "Minnie" Ponessa of Long Branch; two brothers, John J. Kearns and Michael E. Kearns, both of Long Branch; a sister, Lori Kearns of Shark River Hills, Neptune; two aunts and an uncle, Anthony and Cynthia Esposito of Wanamassa, Ocean Township, and Pat Doyle of Middletown; and her cousins, JoAnn, Lisa, Anthony, and Brian Esposito.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 8: 30 a.m. Monday for the Rite of Committal followed by her 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 408 Prospect St., Long Branch. Interment will follow in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.

EMILY RAMOS, 92, of HOWELL, died Thursday, Aug. 16, at home. Mrs. Ramos was born in Manhattan and lived in Holbrook, N.Y. before moving to Howell in 1988. She was a parishioner of the St. Veronica's Catholic Church, Howell, and a member of the Howell Senior Center. Mrs. Ramos was a bakery assistant with Horn & Hardart Automat at their headquarters in Manhattan until her retirement.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard E., in 1988. Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Constance Ramos of Sebring, Fla., Ronald and Jan Ramos of Queens, N.Y., Randolph and Suzanne Kessler of Howell, and Douglas and Sandy Ramos of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 8: 30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by her Funeral Mass at 9: 30 a.m. at St. Veronica Catholic Church, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.

DONALD L. RECHTENBAUGH, 67, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Thursday, June 1, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Rechtenbaugh was born and raised in Canistota, S.D., and had settled in Freehold Township in 1965. Mr. Rechtenbaugh was a communicant of The Church of St. Robert Bellarmine, Freehold Township. He served on the building and maintenance committee, and participated in the RCIA Program and was a CCD teacher at the church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a past president of the PTA. He was a Boy Scout Leader in Freehold Township. Mr. Rechtenbaugh was a former president of the Home Owners Association in Long View. Mr. Rechtenbaugh was a systems engineer at AT&T, Bell Labs, Holmdel for 30 years, retiring in 1989.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, James, and George Rechtenbaugh. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Evelyn Rechtenbaugh of Freehold; three sons, Don Lee Rechtenbaugh of Freehold, Dominic Rechtenbaugh of Toms River, and Glenn Rechtenbaugh of Middlesex; three daughters, Diane Dragone of Lincroft, Middletown, Linda Landis of Highland Park, and Lori Guerrero of Farmingdale; a brother, Herb Rechtenbaugh of Hartford, S.D.; a sister, Margaret Huber of Marion, S.D.; and 11 grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold. Burial will follow at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Rechtenbaugh may be made to either the American Diabetes Association, 19 School House Road, Somerset, NJ 08873, or to The Church of St. Robert Bellarmine Building Fund, and would be appreciated.

MAE REID, 79, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Reid was born in Philadelphia and was raised in Jackson. She moved to Englishtown, where she lived for many years before moving to Freehold Township in 1990. She was an active member of the Silvermead Community Club, Freehold Township, and attended Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Freehold. She was a supervisor in the Publication Department at McGraw-Hill, Hightstown, for 22 years, retiring in 1985. She was also a bookkeeper for Especially For You Florist, Freehold, for 10 years, retiring in 1995.

She was predeceased by her husband, Darryl M. Reid, in 1988; a grandson, Michael Reid, in 1993; a brother, Daniel Zanchuk; and a sister, Josephine Benjamin. Surviving are three sons, Darryl J. Reid of Howell, William M. Reid of Jackson, and Vernon E. Reid of Lynchburg, Va.; seven grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; a brother-in-law and his wife, Joseph and Millie Reid of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Willetta Linke of Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.

George J. Riehl Jr.
RIEHL George J. Riehl Jr. Of Howell, 72 George J. Riehl Jr., 72, of Howell died on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. All arrangements are private by the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, Mr. Riehl lived in Elizabeth, Roselle Park, Matawan and Rumson before moving to Howell in 2005. He was a baker with the Bakery & Confectionery Union Local 50. He was predeceased by his brother, Frederick Riehl in 2004 and two sisters, Elvira Bujdos in 2001 and Betty Davidson in 1986. Surviving are a brother, Robert Riehl of Freehold; a sister, Florence Carr of Asheville, N.C., and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Riehl may be made to American Diabetes Assoc., 19 Schoolhouse Rd., Somerset, N.J. 08873 and would be appreciated.

JOHN H. RICE JR., 82, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Thursday, Sept. 14 at home. Mr. Rice was born in Delhi, N.Y., and lived in Hollis, Queens, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township in 1965. He was a salesman for Eastern Tool Warehouse, Manhattan, retiring in 1999. Mr. Rice was a parishioner of the Church of St. Robert Bellarmine, Freehold. He was a World War II Army veteran and participated in the Normandy invasion. He was a member of the Classic Knight Car Club of Old Bridge and enjoyed attending classic car shows.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jean M., in 1999. Surviving are four sons, John W. Rice of Bristol, Tenn., Kevin P. Rice of Toms River, Michael Rice of Freehold Township, and Timothy J. Rice of Weston, Vt.; one daughter, Maureen Gozzo of Toms River; two brothers, Frederick Rice and Richard Rice, both of Spring Hill, Fla.; three sisters, Dolores Shallis of Bradenton, Fla., Theresa Quigly of East Patchogue, Long Island, N.Y., and Mary Rom of Cleveland, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. VERNA A. RITTER, 84, formerly of FARMINGDALE, and West Allenhurst, died Friday, Dec. 1, at New Jersey Eastern Star Home, Bridgewater. Mrs. Ritter was born in Englishtown and had lived in Farmingdale, West Allenhurst and Boynton Beach, Fla., before moving to the Eastern Star Home in 2003. Mrs. Ritter was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale and the First United Methodist Church of Oakhurst. She was also a former member of the Molly Pitcher Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Freehold. Along with her husband, Mrs. Ritter owned and operated the family electrical business, Ritter Electric, Allenhurst.

She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert F., in 1985. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Linda Ritter of Forest Hill, Md., and Glenn and Pattie Ritter of Harrisburg, Pa.; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Joseph Biesterfeld of Coral Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Alvin Davison and Earl Davison; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Family and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be private. Marie Joan Rosolanko, 89, of Jackson died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Mrs. Rosolanko was born in Staten Island, N.Y., and had lived in Cranbury for over 30 years before settling in Jackson. Mrs. Rosolanko was a homemaker. She volunteered for the American Red Cross during World War II and participated as a grandmother in the Merrill Lynch adopt-a-grandmother program.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 2005, and by a beloved nephew, Danny De Franco. She is survived by her brother, Tony De Franco, and many other loving relatives, friends and neighbors.

Visiting will be from 9: 30 a.m.-10: 30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Rd., Freehold Township. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.

JOSEPH J. ROSSOTTO, 89, of JACKSON, died Sunday, Sept. 16, at home. Mr. Rossotto was born, raised and lived in Jersey City before moving to Jackson in 2003. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. Mr. Rossotto worked in the Gas Division of Public Service Electric & Gas Co., Jersey City, for more than 25 years, retiring in 1972.

Surviving are his wife, Jennie Rossotto; a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Carmella Rossotto of Colts Neck; a daughter and son-in-law, RoseAnn and Walter Woronkewycz of Millstone Township; three grandchildren, Joseph, Jenine and William; and a sister, Anna Buttacavole of Toms River.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. LEONORE "LEE" RUSSAK, 76, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Saturday, April 14, at John L. Montgomery Care Center, Freehold Township.

Mrs. Russak was born in New York City and lived in New Hyde Park, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township in 1966. Mrs. Russak was a secretary for the Freehold Township Board of Education and also the Freehold Township tax office. She was also a trained medical assistant, working for many doctors in the area. Lee, as her friends knew her, was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Freehold Township for over 40 years and a member of the Molly Pitcher Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

She was predeceased by her first husband, John Starace, in 1958. Surviving are her husband, Stephen Russak; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral service at noon Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church, 211 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will be private. For those who desire, contributions in memory of Lee are requested to Camp Quality of New Jersey, P.O. Box 351, Adelphia, NJ 07710.
