Irene S. Messina, 87, of Elwood, died October 23, 2006, at the Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Elizabeth, she lived in Elwood, Hammonton and the Atlantic County area most of her life. Mrs. Messina co-owned and was a salesperson at the Messina Glass Company in Elwood. She was very active in the VFW Harry Kehler Jr. Post No. 5043 Ladies Auxiliary, and a life time member of the Red Ladies.
Predeceased by: husband in 1976, Thomas Messina. Surviving her are, daughter, Carol Ravelli-Yob and her husband Dennis of Elwood; sisters, Pauline Roesch of Germania, Gen Powers of Mountainside, N.J.; brother, Stanley Kwasnieski of Mays Landing; grandson, Robert T. Ravelli.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on October 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m.
The family requests memorial donations to the St. Anthony of Padua Church, P.O. Box 1087, Hammonton, NJ 08037.

Maria Juliana Stewart, 61, of Atco, died suddenly on October 17, 2006, at the Cooper Health Center in Camden.
Born in Germany, she immigrated to the United States after World War II to Philadelphia when she was nine years old. She lived in the Atco section of Waterford for the past 23 years. Mrs. Stewart earned a bachelor degree in education from Temple University in 1967 and was a German language teacher at the Collingswood High School retiring in 2002 after 39 years. She was the recipient of numerous prestigious awards in her field, some of which include the Duden Award, Goethe Institute Award and Martin Luther King Freedom Award.
Predeceased by: parents, Georg and Juliana Schweitzer. Surviving her are: husband, Lloyd Aaron Stewart; daughter, Kirsten Nicole Stewart who is a speech language pathologist stationed at the Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany; son, Jason Lloyd Stewart of Philadelphia; sisters, Gisela Bresser and her husband Michael of Sun City, Ariz., Margaret Graham and her husband Joseph of N.C.; close friend, Evelyn Carelli of Medford.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on October 20 at the Landolfi Funeral Home followed by burial at Greenmount cemetery.

Anthony J. Chappine, 78, of Hammonton, died October 22, 2006, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born in Atsion, he lived in Hammonton most of his life. He started Chappine Farms in 1960 and owned and operated the farm until his retirement in 1992. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He served on the Mullica Township Board of Education, Atlantic County Board of Agriculture, and the Jersey Fruit Co-Op.
Surviving him are: wife, Lillian (nee Lanza); daughters, Toni Mercurio and her husband Michael of Raritan, N.J., Nancy Berenato and her husband Joseph D. of Hammonton; brothers, Phil and his wife Dolores of Elmtowne, Frank and his wife Dorothy of Vincentown; grandchildren, Joseph Berenato Jr. and his wife Meredith, A.J. Berenato, Ryan Mercurio, and the late Michael Anthony Mercurio; also his loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing tonight after 6 p.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 26 at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by entombment at Greenmount cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 437, Hammonton, NJ 08037 or to the Hammonton Rescue Squad, 300 S. Egg Harbor Road, Hammonton, NJ 08037.

William J. Sauser, 93, of Hammonton, died October 21, 2006, at the Heritage Assisted Living Facility.
Born in Mason City, Iowa, he was a resident of the Hammonton and Elm area for more than 60 years. Before retiring, he worked for Alliance Clay Products in Winslow. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Predeceased by: wife, Margaret Sauser. Surviving him are: son, William J. Sauser Jr. and his wife Carol of Medford; daughter, Margaret Mettille and her husband Charles of Pomona; brother, Adam Sauser and his wife Agnes of Lyndhurst; grandchildren, Charles W. Mettille and his wife Jennifer, Michael Mettille; great-grandson, Charles W. Mettille Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on November 4 at the Carnesale Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. at the Carnesale Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winslow Township Lions Club, P.O. Box 168, Cedar Brook, NJ 08018.

Anthony “Ben” Santora, 75, of Folsom, died suddenly on October 26, 2006, at A.C. Medical Center in Pomona.
Born in Hammonton, he was a life long area resident. He was co-owner and operator of Santora’s Garage in Hammonton. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a former member of the Hammonton American Legion Post No. 186.
Predeceased by: wife, Olga (nee Gandolfi.) Surviving him are: daughter, Barbara Jean Santora of Folsom; sister, Evelyn Barresi of Hammonton; many nieces and nephews; friend, Edythe Lolio of Egg Harbor Township.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on October 31, at St. Joseph R.C. Church followed by burial at Greenmount cemetery.
Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association of New Jersey, 1060 N. Kings Highway, Suite 309, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.

Steven Arthur Gass Jr., age 14, born November 2, 1991 in Norwood, Massachusetts.
Beloved son of Steven Arthur Gass Sr. and Erica Gass of Boston. Grandmothers Eole Gass and Dorothy LePore. Stepson of William Covney and Kimberly Schenk. Beloved brother of Taylor and Billy Jr. Beloved cousin of Ronald Patrick Grady Jr. and Vincent Timothy Grady of Boston, Massachusetts. Dearly loved by his aunts and uncles, Eole, T.C. Gass, William J. Gass Jr, Aunt Patricia Gass, John Gass. Dennis Lepore, Mike Lepore. Loved by his second cousins Marlena, Alec, Renee, Jennifer, Cheryl, Joe, Mia, Todd, Lyndsy and Madison. Great aunts Arlene Dibel and Anne McInroy. All of us loved Steven with all our hearts and souls. He left a million friends, too many to name, Brian, Steve, Mike, Dustin, Lester, Matt, Billy and Lisa just to name a few, and all the moms who loved and cared for our Steven. Steve loved life and lived life in such a way most of us can only wish to. He loved his friends, skateboard, bikes and most of all his family. He was a friend to many and loved by even more. We will all miss him in our hearts forever. And may he rest in peace with his Grandfather William J. Gass Sr. Until we see him again in the paradise that our Sovereign Lord Jehovah promises us.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday, November 1, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Carnesale Funeral Home, located at 202 S. Third Street, with funeral services at 6 p.m. Burial will be held in Gethsemane cemetery in Boston.

Madelyn L. Ruberton (nee Rizzotte), educator, was born and lived her entire life in Hammonton. She was 99 years old at her death on October 25, 2006.
She graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She was an educator and taught for more than 30 years in Pleasantville, Egg Harbor, Hammonton, and Winslow Township schools, where she also served as principal. Mrs. Ruberton lived her life as a dedicated teacher not only to her students, but to her appreciative family as well. She was a member of many professional organizations which included the NJEA. She gave of her time as a volunteer to the American Heart Association and other worthy causes. She was also a member of many religious organizations including the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Rosary Society of St. Joseph Church.
Predeceased by: husband, the Honorable James A. Ruberton Sr., former mayor and judge in Hammonton and surrounding municipalities. Surviving her are: sons, James A. and his wife Loretta of Cedar Brook, Robert J. and his wife Andrea of Hammonton; grandchildren, Rohna Ruberton of Cedar Brook, James Ruberton and his wife Diane of Cedar Brook, Robert Ruberton and his wife Katherine of New York City; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on October 30 at St. Martin de Porres Church followed by entombment at Holy Cross cemetery in Mays Landing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hammonton Rescue Squad, 300 S. Egg Harbor Road, Hammonton, NJ 08037.

Henry R. “Augie” Augustine Jr., 61, of Collings Lakes died November 2, 2006.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a lifelong resident of Collings Lakes. Before retiring, he worked as a truck driver for Kansas Beef Industries in Philadelphia. Mr. Augustine was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 252 in Williamstown and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local No. 500 in Pennsauken.
Surviving him are: daughters, Natalie J. Augustine, Stephanie Augustine; son, Henry R. Augustine III.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on November 7 at the Carnesale Funeral Home followed by burial at Gloucester County Veterans cemetery.

Gerald “Jerry” Dillon Jr., 43, of Hammonton, died November 1, 2006, at his residence.
Born in Passaic, he lived in Ocean County for many years before moving to Hammonton four months ago. He was a self-employed painter and paper hanger.
Surviving him are: mother, Maureen Dillon (nee Boyle) of Hammonton; brother, Matthew J. Dillon of Hammonton; sisters, Sharon Struening of Absecon, Susan Fisher of Milltown, Patricia Burke Dillon of Mays Landing.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on November 6 at the Marinella Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
