John W. "BILL" Leidy, 86, of Wayne died Sunday. Before retiring in 1988, he was the Wayne business administrator and was previously the town engineer. He was an Army veteran of World War II and later served in the Army Reserve. He was a graduate of Drexel University, Philadelphia, and earned a master's degree in state and local government from the Fels Institute of the University of Pennsylvania. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, Wayne. He had been a mentor to the Boy Scouts of America. Arrangements: Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, Wayne.

CLIFTON - Kenneth R. Malone, a longtime mathematics educator at Passaic Valley High School, died Sunday. He was 60.

Born in Passaic, he was a city resident for most of his life.

Mr. Malone was a graduate of Montclair State University, where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees. He began his career at Passaic Valley, in Little Falls, in 1967. During his tenure there, he was cited as an Exemplary Educator from 1985 to 1990, was named Teacher of the Year in 1989 and received the Governor's Teacher Recognition Award in 1995. In 1996 and 1998, he was recognized in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers."

Mr. Malone's achievements at Passaic Valley were not limited to the classroom. He served as director and trustee of the Passaic Valley High School Education Foundation, founded the Andrew Hackes Scholarship and the Kenneth R. Malone Mathematics Scholarship, and served as chairman of the Adra T. Suchorsky English Scholarship program. After 34 years with the school, he retired in 2001 as chairman of the mathematics department.

He was a member of the Preakness Valley United Reformed Church, Wayne, and of its choir. He was a former member and elder of the Northside Christian Reformed Church, and a former member of Grace Church of Clifton, where he was a deacon and choir member.

Surviving is his brother, Donald N. of Wayne.

Allwood Funeral Home, 660-670 Allwood Road, is in charge of arrangements.

NANCY S. BARRETT, 75, of Ridgewood died Thursday. Arrangements: C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home, Ridgewood.
