BUTZKO, Ethel J. (Sohayda), 82, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008, at Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet.

Born in Carteret, she resided in Matawan. She was a cafeteria worker with Matawan High School and a self-employed housekeeper. Ethel was a 44 year survivor of breast cancer. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars Sirius Chapter for over 50 years; a member of First Presbyterian Church, Matawan for 60 years; and a member of Club 60, Matawan.

Ethel was predeceased by her husband, John A. Butzko; her parents, Paul and Bertha Sohayda; and five brothers and sisters. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sharon Butzko, Jr. of N. Port, FL: and Andrew P. and Jeanne Butzko of Aberdeen; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Nicholas Chionchio of Sayreville; grandchildren, Tracey Buczynski and her husband, Anthony of Aberdeen; Lauren Butzko of Leadville, CO; John and Gentry Butzko of Venice, FL; Melissa Chionchio of South Pasadena, CA; Courtney, Lyndsay and Jonathan Butzko of Aberdeen; and great grandchildren, Olivia Butzko, Nicholas and Ian Christopher Buczynski.

Relatives and friends are invited Thursday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. A church service will begin Friday, 10AM at First Presbyterian Church, Hwy. 34, Matawan. Interment to follow at Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

GERTRUDE MALPAS McLANE OF WEST KEANSBURG – died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. She was 85.

Born in Jersey City, she resided in Hazlet for 50 years before moving to West Keansburg 5 years ago. Prior to her retirement in 1993, she was a secretary in the Guidance Department at St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel for 20 years. Prior to that, she was a bank secretary for Provident Savings for 25 years.

She was a founding member of St. Benedict Church, Holmdel, and was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts. She also enjoyed many creative hobbies and loved to read.

She was predeceased by her husband, William McLane in 1991, and by two brothers, Allen and Buddy Malpas. Surviving are a son, Scott of Keyport; a daughter and outstanding son in law, Madeline and Robert Helfrich of West Keansburg ; two granddogs, Sonny and Boomer, and three grandcats, Baby, Charlie and Chrissy.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9: 00 AM in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, followed by a 10: 00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Benedict Church, Holmdel. Interment will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

FRONCEK, Anthony J. Jr., 44, of Union Beach, passed away Wed., June 18, 2008, in Hazlet Twp.

Surviving is his wife, Mary (Kerpen) Froncek; his children, Rebecca, Joseph and Justin; and his brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be Saturday, 2-4PM, at Day Funeral Home, Keyport, with a 3: 30PM service. Cremation is private. For online condolences and directions to the Funeral Home.

MC CUE, Rose A., 95, of Keansburg, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Bayside Manor.

Rose was predeceased by her husband, Daniel J. in 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Carol McCue and Maureen Long; and a son. She was the beloved grandmother of Maggie and Regina Santora and six other grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

All services are private. Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport handled the funeral arrangements.

JACOB, James M., 70, of West Keansburg, passed away at home on Friday, June 13, 2008, with his best friend, Oreo, at his side.

Born in Linden, NJ, he resided in West Keansburg for the past 10 years. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor with American Continental Properties, Rockland County, NY. He was a communicant of Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach; a member of the Keyport/Matawan Elks for 29 years and was initiated on November 23, 1980; he was the Exalted Ruler from 1986-1987; the chairman of trustees; the South Central District Drug Awareness chairperson; and the Parade and Convention chairperson; and he was also a member of the Philipino Club of America.

Surviving are his four children and their spouses, Jeannine and Wayne Kolodziej of West Keansburg, Jana and Sgt. Jason Prevost of Ft. Stuart, GA, Eddie and Diane Waldorf of Point Pleasant, and April Sutton of GA; two sisters, Diane Wilde of Edison; and Stella Quilban of Hampton; and nine grandchildren, Wayne Jr., Joshua and Ashley Kolodziej, Paige, Tyler, Alexander and Jasmin Prevost, and Eddie and Charlie Waldorf.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, 8: 45AM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, with a 9: 45AM Mass at Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach. Interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden. Relatives and friends are invited Wednesday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at the funeral home.

Betty Jones, a Hazlet resident for 51 years, died Thursday at home. She was 81.

Mrs. Jones was born in Lyon, France, the eldest of two children of Louis and Lily Conte. She attended schools in Lyon before coming to the United States in 1949. She worked for more than 20 years in the export department of International Flavors & Fragrances in Hazlet. A gourmet cook and a lifelong fitness enthusiast, Mrs. Jones loved to travel and had friends and family in the United States and Europe. She was a member of the French Alliance in NYC; and the Italian American Social Club of Monmouth County.

Most of all she was devoted to her family. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harold M. Jones; and three children, H. Michael Jones and his wife, Virginia of Whitehouse Station, N.J.; Daniel P. Jones of West Hartford, Ct., and Carolyn London and her husband, Keith of San Rafael, Calif.; three grandchildren, Harry Jones IV, Olivia Jones and Robbie London; a brother, Pierre Conte and his wife, Isabel of San Francisco, CA; a nephew, Jean-Pierre Conte and a niece, Christine Boutis.

Relatives and family are invited Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. A funeral service will take place AM Monday at the funeral home with a AM Mass at Jesus the Lord Church, Keyport. Cremation will be private.

MC CLAIN, Dorothy Mae (Staats), departed this life on June 12, 2008, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge.

Born in Jersey City, she resided there and Keyport for 15 years, prior to moving to Matawan in 2007. She was an administrative secretary of Social Services with St. Francis Hospital, Jersey City, for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Church, Keyport; a member of the Keyport Senior Center, and the Leisure Timers Senior Club. Her spirit, unconditional love, humor and genuine compassion will always be remembered. We will mourn the loss, but celebrate the gift that she was in our lives. Her legacy will live in our hearts forever for the knowledge that her struggle has ended and she is at peace, we are thankful. Dorothy was a loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, a beautiful sister, a wonderful aunt, and a dear friend to many.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, and grandson, Christopher Miller. Surviving are two daughters, Arlene Lofstrom and Patricia Miller; four grandchildren, Stacey and her husband, John Panebianco, Courtney and Derek Lofstrom, and Craig Tello; a great grandson, Anthony Panebianco; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Robert Sauer; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Jean Preuss.

Relatives and friends are invited Friday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. A funeral service will be Saturday, 8: 30AM at the funeral home, with a 9: 15AM Mass at St. Joseph ’s Church, Keyport. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

SABIN, Vivian (Macioce), 57, of Hazlet, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.

Born in Manhattan, she resided there until moving to Hazlet 32 years ago. She was a homemaker.

Vivian is survived by her husband, Kenneth Sabin; three children, James and his wife, Tonya Sabin of Morgantown, WV ; Anissa Schindler and Cheryl Sabin, both of Hazlet ; and five grandchildren, Derek, Taylor, Noah, Jacob and Steven.

Relatives and friends are invited Friday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, with an 8PM service. Cremation will be private.

FUMAROLA, Anna, 81, of Old Bridge, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 10, 2008.

Born in Bronx, NY, she resided in Yonkers, before moving to Old Bridge in 1995. She was a secretary with I.L.G.W.U., Manhattan, for 30 years, before retiring in 1975.

Anna was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Fumarola; and a sister, Frances Templeton. Surviving is one brother, Michael Fumarola, of Bronx ; seven nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be Friday, 11AM at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport.

CORDOZA, Robert M., 70, of Middletown, NY, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008, at home.

Born in Manhattan, NY, he resided in Brooklyn, before moving to Middletown. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was the owner of Michael’s Pizzeria, Manhattan, for 15 years.

Robert is survived by a daughter, Michele Cordoza and her partner, Kim Weed of Brewster, NY ; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Donna Cordoza of Hazlet, NJ ; a brother, Charles Coudouzos; and two grandchildren, Kayla and Meghan Cordoza.

Caroline Zalewsky

Caroline Zalewsky, 81 of Lopatcong Twp., formerly of Bangor, Pa., died Wednesday, September 17, 2003. There will be no services. Burial will be private.

Mary Zamataro

Mary Zamataro, 96, of Northampton, formerly of Phillipsburg, died Saturday, February 24, 2001 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill, Pa.

Born February 21, 1905 in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Boscia Frinzi.

She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

Her husband, the late Joseph Zamataro died February 16, 1986.

She is survived by a son, James S. of Palmer Twp.; five daughters, Jennie Castone and Grace Bevilacqua, both of Phillipsburg, Josephine Regina of Bethlehem, Lucille Patriarca of Williams Twp. and Joan Marie Mariano of Palmer Twp.; two brothers, John and Charles Frinzi, both of Phillipsburg; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Salvatore, Joseph and Anthony Frinzi and five sisters, Pearl Ritz, Josephine DeThomas, Rose Polcari, Dorothy Fuller and Jennie Frinzi.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, 426 S Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ. Calling hours will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

The family requests memorial contributions to the Northampton Emergency Squad, 1525 Canal St., Northampton, Pa 18067.

Rose J. Zammatore

Rose J. Zammatore, 78, of Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998 in Warren Hospital.

She and her husband, George R. Zammatore, owned and operated the former George's Hat Cleaning and shoe-shine business on South Fourth Street in Easton until 1950, a grocery store on Lehigh Street in Easton until 1954, and later owned and operated Georges Market on Thomas Street in Phillipsburg from 1954 until they retired in 1980.

Born October 5, 1919 in Easton, she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Marta Rotondo LaMotta.

She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church in Phillipsburg, where she was also a member of the Over-Fifties Club. She was also a member of St. Mary's Golden Age Club in Alpha, the Head Golden Age Club of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughter's of the America's, Court Warren 389, and the O'Donnell Apartment's Social Club in Phillipsburg. She also volunteered for the Warren County Nutrition Program in Phillipsburg for over eighteen years.

Mrs. Zammatore and her husband observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary April 30th.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Thomas A. of Harrison, NJ; two daughters, Roseann Affa of Phillipsburg and Sister Mary Martha Zammatore, O.S.F., of Antofagasta, Chile, South America; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Anthony and Joseph and a sister, Jennie Di Raimondo all died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m. Saturday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 9:45 a.m. in St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Entombment will be in Holy Apostle's Mausoleum, Greenwich Twp., NJ. Calling hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests memorial contribution to the Mission in Antofagasta, Chile, in care of the Sisters of St. Francis, 395 Bridle Path Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18017 or to St. Philip and St. James Church, 430 South Main St., or to the Warren County Ostomy Association in care of Leslie Washuta, Health Education Dept., Warren Hospital, 185 Roseberry St., both in Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.
