He was a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry with a doctorate in optometry. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Jewish War Veterans, North Bergen. He was a member of New Synagogue, Fort Lee, where he was a benefactor and trustee. He also was a member of Ezra-Humboldt Masonic Lodge, Fair Lawn, and the Kiwanis Club, West New York.
