PANZERA, Santo C., 85, of Union Beach, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008, at home.

Born in Matawan, he resided most of his life in Keyport. He served our country in the Army during WWII. He was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Church, Keyport. Before retiring in 1981, he was employed as a caster with Woodbridge Pottery, Woodbridge, for 40 years.

Santo was predeceased by his wife, Rose (Aquavia) Panzera in 1997; his parents, Michael and Helen (Corda) Panzera; and a brother, Nunziato Panzera. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Bill Polites of Union Beach; and three brothers, Dominick of Keyport; Joseph and Anthony Panzera, both of Melbourne, FL.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, 8: 15AM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, followed by a 9AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church, Keyport. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph ’s Mausoleum. Family and friends are invited Friday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA of Central Jersey Hospice, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank, NJ 07701.

PARKER, Cheryl A., 32, of Cliffwood Beach, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Perth Amboy, she was a lifelong resident of Cliffwood Beach. She was employed as a school bus driver with Milo Bus Company, Cliffwood.

Cheryl was predeceased by her father, Steve Garvey. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Parker of Matawan; her children, Arthur J. Parker, Jr; Alyssa M. Parker and Kaylee Naia Jackson, all of Cliffwood Beach; her mother and her husband, Bonnie and Joseph Muniz of Cliffwood Beach; and two sisters, Melissa Muniz of Keansburg and Linda Boyse of Jackson.

Family and friends are invited Thursday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, for visitation, with an 8PM service. Cremation will be private.

Paul Hebron, 63, of Matawan, died peacefully at home after a battle with cancer.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Rosalie Hebron and his brother George. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patricia, daughters Jill Hebron and Kate Russo and her husband John. Additionally, he is survived by his brothers Richard and Robert, well loved nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends and family.

In 1964, he volunteered to enlist in the US Army and served with honor at Fort Carson, Colorado and Fort Drum, New York and remained an ardent patriot for his entire life. For over 30 years, he worked in the moving and sales industries until retiring in 2004.

Paul was a communicant of St Joseph's Church, had a devotion to the Rosary and was an active member of the St Vincent DePaul Society. Despite facing a difficult illness, he always took life one day at a time and approached his trials with serenity, courage and wisdom.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday. 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home. 361 Maple Place Keyport,NJ 07735.. A Memorial Mass will be on Thursday 10: 15AM at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport, NJ

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or tne American Cancer Society ..

MAKELY, Ann C., 72 of Union, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Overlook Hospital, Summit.

Born in Elizabeth, she resided in Laurence Harbor, before moving to Union one year ago. She was a production worker with Anchor Glass, Cliffwood.

Ann was predeceased by her husband, Francis X. Makely in 2003; and her parents, John and Genevieve (Brojanowski) Sporer; a brother, Richard Sporer; and a sister, Josephine Bennett. Surviving is her five children, Jeannette Horbal of Elizabeth; Alice Makely-Horbal of Roselle Park; Francis Makely, Jr. of Southern Pines, NC; Michael Makely of Jackson; and John Makely of Old Bridge; two sisters, Rose DeMarest of Elizabeth and Eleanor Soltys of Toms River; four brothers, John “Yockey” Sporer of Elizabeth; Frankie Sporer of South River; James Sporer of Laurence Harbor; and Robert Sporer of Matawan; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735. A funeral service will be Friday; 8AM at the funeral home followed by a 9AM Mass at St. Lawrence RC Church, Laurence Harbor. Interment to follow at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Morganville.

JOHN H. NICHOLSON of CLIFFWOOD BEACH – died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was 85.

Born in South Orange, he resided in East Orange before moving to Cliffwood Beach several years ago.

Prior to his retirement, he was a truck driver for Teamsters local 469 in Hazlet, and also worked for Colonial Sand and Stone Company as a ready mix driver for 14 years. After retirement, he then went to work as a custodian for the Matawan Board of Education for ten years. He was a member for 54 years and an ex-deputy chief of Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Company #1. He was a member of the NJ State Fire Chiefs Association, a life member of the Monmouth County Firemen’s Association, and was a member of the NJ State Firemen’s Relief Association for 54 years, and served on the credentials committee at the yearly convention since 1972. In addition, he served as treasurer of the Aberdeen Township Firemen’s Relief Association from 1960-1992, and served on the Monmouth County Fire College Association Board of Directors for 10 years.

An Army Air Corps veteran of WW II having served as a Sergeant in the Asian Pacific Theatre, he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was also a member of the Teamsters Retiree Club.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Mose Nicholson; a son, Gregory and his wife Patricia of Clarksburg; a daughter, Patricia Orlando of Oceanport; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Orlando, Brian Orlando, Katie Nicholson, and David Nicholson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10: 00 AM in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 9: 30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NJ Firemen’s Home, 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005.

BURGER, Donna “Toni” (Della Pietro), 46, of Langhorne, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at home.

Born in Red Bank, she resided in Newtown and Bristol, PA, before moving to Langhorne. She was employed as a Director of Student Activities with the George School, Newtown, PA, for the past 13 years.

Donna was predeceased by her father, Charles A. Della Pietro. Surviving are her mother, Dorothy West; a daughter, Audrey Burger; a son, Brian Burger; her former husband, Michael Burger; her siblings, Doreen Chapman, Dody Swaffar, Anthony Della Pietro, and Dina Marie Sansone; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation was private. A Memorial Gathering will take place Friday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. Burial of cremains will be Saturday, 10AM, with a graveside service, at St. Joseph ’s Cemetery, Keyport.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made towards educational expenses for Audrey and Brian, Donna’s children, c/o Dina Sansone, 2529 Honeysuckle Lane, Pt. Pleasant, NJ 08742.

SMITH, Edith May, 72, of Aberdeen, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick.

Born in Keyport, she was a life long resident of Aberdeen. She was employed as a teachers aide with Temple Beth Ahm, Aberdeen, for 20 years, before retiring 13 years ago. She was the past worthy matron of the Eastern Star, Matawan.

Edith was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Truair. Surviving are her husband, George Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael LaFragola of Phoenix, AZ ; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Gary and Krissy Smith of Jackson; and George and Wendy Smith, Jr. of Belford; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, with one on the way.

Visitation will take place on Friday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. Family and friends may gather 9: 30AM on Saturday, with a 10AM service at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.

Myra Ann Francy, 85, beloved wife of 60 years to Edward R. Francy Sr., passed away on May 20, 2008 in Cheshire CT.. She was born in Bayone, NJ on February 26, 1923 to the late James and Mary Jastrab O'Donnell.

Besides her husband, Myra leaves her daughter Colette Vargas and husband John of Irvington, NY and son Edward R. Francy Jr, and wife Mary Beth of Wallingford, CT, and grandchildren, Charlotte and Carter Francy. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret O'Donnell.

Myra had lived in Matawan NJ for 40 years before moving to Redbank, NJ and settling in Cheshire, CT for the last year. She had graduated from st Mary's High School in South Amboy, NJ before graduating from Drake Business School. After working as an assistant stock broker at Isley, King, LaBare, and Stout she stayed home to take care of her family. Myra was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Society, the Rosary Society, Club 60, Democratic Party Committee Women, life long parishioner of St. Joseph Church and was joint chairperson with her husband for Citizens for Kennedy in Matawan, NJ. Cooking and reading were some of her favorite pastimes but nothing compared to quality time with her family. She was always ready for a good laugh and having fun at gatherings with her close extended family. Myra will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

A funeral service will take place at 8: 30AM on Friday, May 23rd at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 PM.

SODANO, Dora J., 92, of Holmdel, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at the Willows Assisted Living, Holmdel.

Born in Newark, she had resided in Union and Jackson. She was employed as a financial supervisor with Lucent Technologies, Kearney. She had attended Seton Hall for two years. Dora was a member with W.E. Kearney Club of Western Electric; a member of the Pioneers of AT&T; an avid golfer and skier, and holds a hole-in-one trophy; a world traveler; and a member of the Catholic Daughters of St. Joseph’s, Maplewood.

Dora was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Christina Sodano; and sisters, Rose Sodano; Jean Hobbs, and Josephine Sodano. Surviving is her brother, Frank Sodano of Holmdel; three nieces; three nephews; 19 great nieces and nephews; and 37 great great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Friday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, 8: 30AM at the funeral home, followed by a 9: 15AM Mass at St. Joseph ’s RC Church, Keyport. Interment to follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia. In lieu of flowers, donations to Grace Hospice, Raritan Plaza 3, 105 Fieldcrest Ave., Suite 304, Edison, NJ 08837, would be appreciated.
