Spring Lake Heights resident Anne Marie Nelson Neary died Tuesday, May 22 in her home. She was 88 years old. Born in Bayonne, Mrs. Neary lived in Teaneck and Colts Neck before moving to Spring Lake Heights 23 years ago. She was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School, Jersey City, and Jersey City State Teachers College. She was a homemaker. She was active in the Mothers Guild Academy of the Holy Angels, Demarest, and the Childrenıs Ward of Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck. She was predeceased in 1995 by her husband, Dr. Edward R. Neary, in 1945 by her son, Edward R. Jr., and by her two brothers, Edward A. Jr. and Howard J. Nelson. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane J. and Paul W. Ewing, Brick Township, and Patricia A. and Michael J. Baumann, Newburyport, Mass.; grandchildren Kathleen and Joseph Staunton, Paul Edward Ewing, Kevin and Megan Ewing, Michael and Danielle Ewing, and Mary Ellen Ewing; and two step grandchildren, Elizabeth P. and Timothy Baumann. Funeral arrangements were from the OıBrien Funeral Home, Wall Township. Contributions in Mrs. Nearyıs memory may be made to the VNA of Central Jersey Hospice, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank, 07701.

Michael Burke
Memorial Service
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Michael Burke, Brielle. It will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 in Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Mantoloking Road, Brick Township. Mr. Burke died May 10.

Dorothy G. Van Note

Florist

Wilmington, N.C., resident Dorothy Gregory Van Note, formerly of Manasquan, died Sunday, Oct. 28 in her home.

She was 90 years old.

Born in Wall Township, Mrs. Van Note lived in Manasquan for many years before moving to Wilmington, N.C.

She was a florist for 35 years with the business her father founded, Gregoryıs Florists, Sea Girt, retiring in the late 1960s.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Manasquan, and of the Womenıs Circle.

She was a member of Senior Citizens of South Monmouth County, and the Lady Guard of Point Pleasant.

She was predeceased in 1983 by her husband, Adrian R. Van Note; and her parents, Martha Elizabeth White and George H Gregory Sr.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. A. Robert and Victoria Van Note, Wilmington, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Jim Dodd, Alexandria, Va.; six grandchildren and their spouses, Kimberly V. and Kevin Bahr, Atlanta, Scott and Suzanne Van Note, Wilmington, N.C., Kurt and Kara Dodd, Arlington, Va., Kevin and Heather Johnson, Atlanta, Karen Johnson, Wilmington, N.C., and Douglas Dodd, West Palm Beach, Fla., and his fiance, Florence LeMerle; and four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ian, and Mason Dodd, and Morgan Johnson.

Funeral arrangements were for the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Mary Ciullo

Homemaker

Wall Township resident Mary Ciullo died Monday, Oct. 22 in Laurelton Village Care Center, Brick Township.

She was 94 years old.

Born in Orange, Mrs. Ciullo lived in Roseland, Brielle, and Colts Neck before moving to Wall 20 years ago. She previously was a summer resident of Lavallette.

She was a homemaker.

She was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan.

She was predeceased in 1978 by her husband, Anthony J., in 1987 by her son, Anthony J. Jr., and by her brother, John Raimondi, and two sisters, Rose Cavallo, and Margaret Degrucio.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Louis and Barbara, Brielle, Christian J., Orange, and Robert and Terry, Brielle; two brothers-in-law, Reverend Salvatore L. Ciullo, Alexandria, Va., and John Ciullo, Orange; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the OıBrien Funeral Home, Wall.

Contributions in Mrs. Ciulloıs memory may be made to the Family and Childrenıs Service, 1900 State Hwy. 35, Oakhurst, 07755.

Elizabeth M. Cook

Area Manager

Wall Township resident Elizabeth M. Cook died Friday, Oct. 26 in Burnt Tavern Rehabilitation and Convalescent Center, Brick Township.

She was 83 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Cook lived in Maywood before moving to Wall in 1966.

She was employed as the area manager with Delicious Orchards, Colts Neck, retiring 23 years ago.

She was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan.

She was a dedicated member of the Red Oak Womenıs Club, Wall, and a member of the Manasquan Park Property Owners Association.

She was predeceased in 1988 by her husband, John W. Cook.

Surviving are one son, Kevin Cook and Connie Salazar, Berthoud, Colo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ray Littlefield, Brick Township; three grandchildren, Donna Arizzi, Kelly Eager, and Clayton Cook; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Contributions in Mrs. Cookıs memory may be made to the Red Oak Womenıs Club, or to the Arthritis Foundation.

Dorothy M. Bugie

Homemaker

Evesham Township resident Dorothy M. Bugie, formerly of Wall Township, died Monday, Oct. 22 in Care One, Evesham.

She was 91 years old.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Bugie lived in Wall for many years before moving to Evesham.

She was a homemaker.

She was predeceased in 1979 by her husband, Charles A. Bugie.

Surviving are one niece, Susan Axtman; three step-nieces, Patricia Camp, Dr. Eileen Gregory, and Mary Bradley; one step-nephew, Paul Bugie; one step-daughter-in-law, Ann Bugie; and her dear friend and caregiver, Rose Caulder.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Alvin C. Henderson

County Court Officer

Wall Township resident Alvin C. Henderson died Saturday, Oct. 27 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.

He was 84 years old.

Mr. Henderson was a lifelong resident of Wall.

He was employed for over 30 years with Fisher Baking Company, Asbury Park, and Ward Baking Company, East Orange, before retiring. He was then employed for 10 years as a Monmouth County court officer in Freehold. He was previously employed as a bus driver with Coast Cities Coaches.

He was a volunteer, along with his wife, with several handicapped groups, and was an aide with several groups in the Shore area, including Good Sports and High Rollers.

He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed every aspect of the beach, including walking the boardwalk, swimming, or just sitting on the beach.

He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Marion Bartels Henderson, in 1984.

Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Russell E. and Mildred, and one sister, Gladys C. Banner, all of Wall; one nephew Robert E., Wall; one niece, Lynn Danaby, Flemington; one grand nephew, Robert, and one grand niece, Kate.

Funeral arrangements were from the Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, Wall.

Robert J. Kilmurray

World War II Veteran

Point Pleasant resident Robert J. Kilmurray, whose son lives in Wall Township, died Thursday, Oct. 25 in Alterra Assisted Living, Brick Township.

He was 75 years old.

Born in Englewood, Mr. Kilmurray lived in Teaneck, Rochelle Park for 40 years, and Toms River before moving to Point Pleasant six years ago.

He was employed as a postal worker in Teaneck, retiring in 1991. Previously, he was employed for 25 years with Texaco, Nyack, N.Y.

He was a communicant of St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake, and a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Rochelle Park.

He was a member of the Teaneck Moose Lodge.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a Disabled American Veteran, and was a past commander of VFW Post No. 3484, Saddlebrook.

He was predeceased in 1996 by his wife, Elizabeth B. Smith Kilmurray.

Surviving are one son, Robert K., Wall; two daughters, Kathleen E. Kettering, Winston Salem, N.C., and Karen Malleck, Point Pleasant; three brothers, Joseph, Connecticut, Eugene, New Milford, and Thomas, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the OıBrien Funeral Home, Wall.

Wladyslaw Szablowski

Real Estate Developer

Belmar resident Wladyslaw Szablowski died Friday, Nov. 3 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.

He was 87 years old.

Born in Krakow, Poland, Mr. Szablowski lived there and in England before coming to the United States in 1951. He lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Bradley Beach in 1975, and then to Belmar. He became a United States citizen in July, 1957.

He attended high school in Debica, Poland, and studied commerce in Tarow, Poland, in 1936-1937.

He was the owner of a number of businesses in the early 1970s, including a food market in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, N.Y. He was involved in real estate development in the Shore area since 1975.

He was involved in many veteranıs organizations.

He served in the Polish Armed Forces taking part in the German and Norwegian campaigns and was taken prisoner twice by the Nazis. He escaped both times, once via Hungary and Yugoslavia, and a second time via Spain and Portugal. In 1941 he joined the British No. 10 Commandos where he served as a sergeant major for the rest of World War II. He was wounded in action in 1944 and received many decorations including the Cross of Valor.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Maria; one son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Evelyn, Newtown, Pa.; one daughter, Anna Szablowski, Belmar; and three grandsons, George, Erik, and Christian.

Funeral arrangements were from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

Gloria Faison Murray

Library Volunteer

Brielle resident Gloria Faison Murray died Sunday, Oct. 28 in her home.

She was 73 years old.

Born in Paisley, Scotland, Miss Murray came to the United States when she was seven years old and lived most of her live in Brielle.

She earned a degree from Thomas Edison College, New Jersey.

She was an active member of the Church in Brielle.

An avid reader, Miss Murray was a volunteer with the Manasquan Public Library, and she belonged to the Brielle Senior Citizens group.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander M. and Elizabeth Faison Murray.

Surviving are one brother, John Langdon Norris, Nashville, Tenn.; one uncle, William Faison, Staten Island, N.Y.; one niece; three nephews; and several cousins.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.
