Rita Mimnaugh Woodruff

Manasquan resident Rita Mimnaugh Woodruff died at her daughterıs home in Manasquan.

She was 82 years old.

Mrs. Woodruff was born in Inverness, Canada. She lived in Elizabeth, Hillside and Spring Lake before moving to Manasquan in 1984.

She was a retired banker with national State Bank, Hillside. She was also the proprietor of the Village Toy Chest in Spring Lake.

She was a volunteer with the Visiting Nurse Association in Manasquan, a communicant of St. Denis Church, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughers of America and the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Seniors group at the Church.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Frank, in 1991.

She is survived by one son and his wife, Frank S. and Toni of Manasquan; 2 daughers and their husbands, Sharon J. and Michael King of Brooklyn, NY; and Nancy W. and her husband Bill Chamberlin, with whom she lived; three sisters, Helen Meehan of Cranford; Gertrude Davidson of Highlands; and Myrtle Donovan of Port Monmouth; and 4 grandchildren, Michael, Nancy, and Maureen King; and Billy Chamberlin.

Funeral arrangements are from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Following will be a mass of Christian Burial on Friday, at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Marks Church, Sea Girt and interment at St. Catharines cemetery.

Donations to the Manasquan First Aid Squad would be appreciated.

James T. Pyanoe

Brick Township resident James Terrence Pyanoe died Friday, July 19 in the home of his daughter, Wall Township

He was 73 years old.

Mr. Pyanoe was born in Spring Lake. He was a lifelong resident of Belmar prior to moving to Brick.

As a graduate of Rutgers University, Mr. Pyanoe earned a masterıs degree in guidance.

In 1991 he retired as a master tile setter for Local 52 in New York City and had owned and operated H & R Tile Company, Belmar. Mr. Pyanoe taught English at St. Rose High School, Belmar, and was a guidance counselor at Wall High School, Wall.

Mr. Pyanoe is a veteran of the Marines.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Anna Mae Newman Pyanoe; one brother, Francis A.; and a sister, Josephine Rice.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Henry Pyanoe; two sons, James Jr. and Daniel, both of Belmar; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Christine Pyanoe, Beachwood, Mary and Tom Burns, Wall, and Ann and Bob Evans, Sherrill, N.Y.; one brother, Eugene, Wall; one sister, Mary Galassi, Wall; and six grandchildren

Funeral arrangements were from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

M. Russel Bassel

Evanston, Ill. resident M. Russel Bassel, formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Manasquan, died Tuesday, July 16 in the Evanston Hospital, Evanston, Ill.

He was 91years old.

Mr. Bassel was born in Eldorado, Okla. and raised in Manasquan as well as Port Charlotte, Fla.

In 1928, Mr. Bassel graduated from Manasquan High School, Manasquan, and also attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y., where he earned his engineering degree in 1932.

Mr. Bassel worked as a civil engineer for Ford, Bacon and Davis engineering consultants.

He had served in World War II as a captain and was awarded a bronze star for his service in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy and Germany.

He was predeceased in February by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Lillie Bassel; by his son, Paul James; and by his brother, Joel Parker, Jr.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Francine, San Antonio, Texas; his two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Bassel, Glendale, Calif. and Elizabeth and David Graham, Evanston, Ill.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Way, Huntsville, Ala.

Funeral arrangements were from the Donnellan Family Funeral Services, Skokie Ill. Contributions in Mr. Basselıs memory may be made to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Attention: Research and Development Department 110 8th Street Troy, N.Y. 12180.

George T. Van Wickle

Brielle resident George T. Van Wickle died on Thursday, July 18 in his home.

He was 77 years old.

Mr. Van Wickle was born in Belmar. He had resided in Interlaken, Shrewsbury, and Boynton Beach, Fla. prior to moving 19 years ago to Brielle.

He graduated from Rutgers University in 1947 with a bachelorıs degree in business.

Mr. Van Wickle was the owner and president of Park Chevrolet Inc., Neptune prior to retiring 10 years ago.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II from 1942 until 1946. He was the former director of the Jersey Shore Council Navy League, Asbury Park, a member of the Red Bank Elks Lodge No. 220 as well as a member of the Asbury Park Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, Asbury Park. and a founding member of the Jaycees, also of Asbury Park.

He was the director of the shore area YMCA, past president of the Wheelmanıs Club, and a member of the Advisory Council of the Boy and Girls Scouts of America, Monmouth County. He was the past president of the Interlaken Board of Education, Advisory Board of Directors of Midlantic National Bank, Asbury Park, and was a member of the Deal Golf and Country Club, Deal, the Manasquan River Golf Club, Manasquan, as well as the Quail Ridge Country Club, Boynton Beach, Fla.

In 1994 he was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Morse and by his stepson Jeffrey Morse in 2001.

Surviving are his daughters, Linda Kelly and Joan Hamilton, both of Shrewsbury; stepsons, Henry Morse, Newport Richie, Fla., Robert Morse, Loveland, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Virginia Denis, New Orleans, and Jeanne Marie Kerwin, Point Pleasant; ten grandchildren; and his loving friend, Jeanne Wimer.

Emilienne M. McHugh

Duxbury, Mass. resident Emilienne M, McHugh, formerly of Spring Lake, died Monday, July 15 in the Village at Duxbury Nursing Home, Duxbury, Mass.

She was 90years old.

Mrs. McHugh was born in New York City, and lived in Westchester, N.Y., Redding Ridge, Conn. and moved to Spring Lake in 1957. She resided in Spring Lake prior to moving to Duxbury, Mass. seven years ago.

She was a homemaker.

She was a former member of St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake. Mrs. McHugh was a past president of St. Catharine Association of Mature Persons and was a member of the 3rd Order of the Carmelites.

In 1985 she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas F. and by her son-in-law William V. Columbus in 1995.

She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Anne Columbus, Mt. Pleasant S.C. and Sheila and Jack Barnwell, Duxbury, Mass.; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

Beatrice A. Kelly

Wall Township resident Beatrice A. Lee Kelly died Tuesday, July 16 in the Manor by the Sea Care Center, Ocean Grove.

She was 87 years old.

Mrs. Kelly was born in Philadelphia and resided in Elizabeth and Point Pleasant for 20 years prior to moving to Wall Township seven years ago.

She was a homemaker.

As a volunteer at the St. Marthaıs Senior Citizens in Point Pleasant, Mrs. Kelly greatly enjoyed helping others.

She was predeceased in 1987 by her husband, Joseph and her daughter, Frances Dowling in 2001.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Weber, Wall; son-in-law, James Dowling, Wall; two grandsons, Kevin and Jimmy Dowling; her brother, Thomas Lee, Philadelphia; and her three sisters, Ruth Lee and Margaret Waier, both of Philadelphia, and Betty Van Belle, Westown, Pa.

June Lankenau

Tinton Falls resident June Lankenau, formerly of Brielle, died Monday, July 22 in her home.

She was 77 years old.

Mrs. Lankenau was born in Crestwood, N.Y. She resided in Chatham and Brielle prior to moving to Tinton Falls last year.

After the death of her husband in 1983, Mrs. Lankenau took over the presidency of Elgee Manufacturing Company, Irvington, which he founded. She was also an active volunteer with the Food Bank of Monmouth County.

Mrs. Lankenau was a member of the Manasquan United Methodist Church, Manasquan.

Mrs. Lankenau had a life-long love of music and was a former member of the Chatham Players.

She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm G. Lankenau in 1983.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kerry M. and Beth Lankenau, Kennett Square, Pa.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cheryl A Lankenau and Paul L. DeMent, Columbus, Ga., and Sandra G. Lankenau, Toms River; four grandchildren, Lauren and Jenna Claire Lankenau, Jeffrey L. Jr. and Matthew M. Bacon; one sister and brother-in-law, Lola S. and Gordon Merrill, Tinton Falls; and Elsie S. Hanson, Chepachet, R.I.

Funeral arrangements are from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan. A memorial service will be held tonight at 7 p.m. in the Manasquan United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Lankenauıs memory may be made to the Food Bank of Monmouth County, 3300 Route 66, Neptune 07753.

Theresa Marsh

Wall Township resident Theresa Marsh died Sunday, July 21 in her home.

She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Marsh was born in West Virginia. She had previously lived in Bellville before moving to Wall 30 years ago.

Mrs. Marsh was a communicant of St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake.

She was predeceased in 1972 by her husband, Frank.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Alana Marsh, Wall; and two grandchildren, William and Tess Marsh.

Funeral arrangements are from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 26 in St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake.

Douglas F. Hensley

Belmar resident Douglas F. Hensley died Monday, July 22 in the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.

He was 80 years old.

Mr. Hensley was born in Cattellsburg, Ky. and had resided in Jersey City. Prior to moving to Belmar 15 years ago, Mr. Hensley was a summer resident of Belmar for 27 years.

Mr. Hensley was a former expediter for Western Electric, New York City.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rosemarie Chiusolo Hensley.

Funeral arrangements are from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar. Visiting hours will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26 at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Entombment will be at St. Catharine cemetery.
