William J. Librizzi Jr.

Spring Lake resident William J. Librizzi Jr. died Saturday, June 7 while vacationing with his wife in Lucca, Italy.

He was 66 years old.

Mr. Librizzi was born in Newark and had lived in Howell before moving to Spring Lake 32 years ago.

He is a graduate of the Newark College of Engineering (NJIT), he received his advanced degree in environmental engineering from the New York University. A licensed professional engineer, he began a long and distinguished career in public service with the U.S. Air Force, the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. While at the EPA, he investigated pollution incidents in New Jersey, New York, the New England States and Texas; directing clean up of hazardous waste sites, directing emergency response activities and enforcing Federal and State environmental law.

In 1990, Bill joined the New Jersey Institute of Technology's Northeast Hazardous Substance Research Center, where he directed the community outreach programs for the university and continued to make many contributions to his professional field of environmental engineering both in the United States and abroad.

Mr. Librizzi is survived by his wife of 44 years, Angel Librizzi; his 4 sons, Andrew W., Murphy, TX, Marc L., Manalapan, Rev. William J., Spring Lake, Gregory J., Blackwood; 2 daughters, Lori A. Miskin, Manasquan and Angel A. Anan, Littleton, N.H., his mother, Mary, and 17 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Lighthouse, Lakewood.

Catherine Fenimore

Manasquan resident Catherine "Kitty" McDermott-Fenimore died Saturday, June 14 at St. Clare's Hospital, Sussex.

She was 86 years old.

Mrs. Fenimore was born to John and Agnes Gaspardino in Paterson and lived in Manasquan and Vernon Township for the past 15 years.

She was a dedicated homemaker and loving mother to her five children.

Mrs. Fenimore is predeceased by her first husband, Vincent McDermott and her second husband, Carl Fenimore.

She is survived by her four daughters, Sharon Monell, Franklin, Kathy Bosma, Vernon Twp., Patricia Moat, Manasquan, and Laura Snyder, Neptune; one son, Joseph Meyer, Leeds Point, and one sister, Ruth Pounds, St. Augustine, Fla. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, Vernon.

Martha E. Senft

Brick Township resident Martha E. Senft, formerly of Spring Lake Heights and Brielle died Tuesday, July 1 at her home.

She was 56 years old.

Mrs. Senft was born in Neptune, raised in Spring Lake Heights, and then Brielle, before settling in Brick Township ten years ago.

She is a graduate of Manasquan High School Class of 1965.

Mrs. Senft was the Seasonal Dept. Manager at A's home center, Wall prior to this she was a police dispatcher with the Allenhurst, Manasquan and Brielle Police Departments. She was also a clerk at Cumberland Farms, Wall.

She was also past president of the Auxiliary Manasquan Elks Lodge #2534, chairwomen of the Float Committee, member and past officer with the Brielle First Aid Squad, member of the Howell Elks Lodge #2515, and was also a designer of many different personal items for others.

Mrs. Senft is survived by her husband, Donald R. Senft; two daughters, Nichole Nappi, Neptune and Melissa Lakas, Ocean Twp.; one brother and his wife, Howard E. Rockhill, Jr. and Lynda J., Spring Lake Heights; one grandson, Nicholas Nappi, and two nephews, Patrick Glen Rockhill and Christopher Shawn Rockhill.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the Howell Elk Lodge #2515, Care of Charity Fund, 84 Ramtown-Greenville Road, Howell.

Elaine M. Erbe

Spring Lake resident Elaine M. Erbe died Saturday, July 5 at her home.

She was 72 years old.

Mrs. Erbe was born in Orange and lived in London, England for eight years before moving to Spring Lake.

She was a graduate of Star Sea Academy, Long Branch, and attended St. Elizabeth's College. She was a daily communicant at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake and was a teacher at St. Catharine's School, Spring Lake and St. Peter's School, Point Pleasant for several years.

Mrs. Erbe was well known for her poetry, which was written for many special people and occasions. She had a book of poetry published, entitled "The First Hundred Years Are The Hardest." She was officially named the Poet Laureate of the Borough of Spring Lake, the South Belmar Bar Association and the Spring Lake Historical Society.

She served on many of Spring Lake town committees including the Recreation Committee, the original Pools and Pavilions Committee, and the Centennial Committee for both Spring Lake town and St. Catharine's Church. Mrs. Erbe was also secretary and trustee of the Spring Lake Historical Society, and organization where she had many devoted friends and for whom she wrote their monthly newsletter.

Mrs. Erbe was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Joseph T. Erbe, in August of 2001, and her brothers John A. and Richard D. Purcell.

She is survived by her six children, Joseph T. Erbe., Spring Lake, Timothy E. Erbe, Valley Stream, N.Y., Michael Landers, Spring Lake, Stephen C. Erbe, Asbury Park, Dr. Patricia L. Barnwell, Santa Barbara, Ca., and Susan M. Fittin, Spring Lake. Also surviving are her 15 grandchildren, Caolan, Rian, Devon, Taryn, and Shannon Landers, Anastasia, Madeleine, Joseph T., Kevin and Patricia Erbe., Nora and Jay Fittin, and Brendan, Barbara, and Sean Barnwell. Mrs. Erbe also is survived by her sister, Mary A. Purcell, Sun City, Fla. and her brother, Robert Purcell, Lynchburg, Va.

Funeral services were under the direction of the O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Erbe's name can be made to the Spring Lake Historical Society, 5th and Warren Ave., Spring Lake or the Spring Lake First Aid Squad, 311 Washington Ave., Spring Lake.

William G. Zerbe

Lakewood resident William G. Zerbe, formerly of Sea Girt died Sunday, July 6 at his home.

He was 75 years old.

Mr. Zerbe was born in Rices Landing, Pa., and resided in Sea Girt for 25 years, before moving to Leisure Village East, Lakewood, six months ago.

He served with the United States Air Force, and was a graduate of Westchester University, Pa.

Mr. Zerbe was a sales manager in the metal industry. In 1990, he founded Motor Works in Manasquan and operated the business until 1999.

He belonged to American Legion, Post 1000, Brick and the B.P.O.E., Lodge 2534, Manasquan. He also attended St. George's By The River Episcopal Church, Rumson.

Mr. Zerbe was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Fox, who died in 2001, and his second wife, Elaine Lazarus, who died in 1997. He was also predeceased by his brother Thomas and a stepdaughter Beverly.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Grant W. and Kendra Zerbe, Cohutta, Ga.; his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Albert Germaine, Brick; one step-son and his wife, Mark and Liza Lazarus; four grandchildren, Holly and Claire Germaine and Madison and Will Zerbe, and one step-grandson, Daniel Lazarus.

A funeral service will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. George's By The River Episcopal Church,Rumson. Burial will follow at St. Catharine's cemetery, Sea Girt.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

William Lloyd Smith

Manasquan resident William Lloyd Waddell Smith died on Saturday, July 5 at the Calvary Hospital, Bronx, N.Y.

He was 43 years old.

Mr. Smith was born in Montclair and grew up in Mountain Lakes before moving to Manasquan 25 years ago.

He graduated from Mountain Lakes High School in 1978.

Mr. Smith was a self-employed Landscaper.

He is survived by his father, Philip H.W. Smith; his mother, Mary Rutledge Majewski, and his sister, Joan Stilies.

There will be a memorial gathering on Saturday, July 12 at 5 p.m. at 265 Perrine Blvd. All are welcomed.

Funeral services were under the direction of Par-Troy Funeral Home, Parsippany.

Catherine Fenimore

Middletown Township resident Eileen C. Phelan, whose sister-in-law lives in Spring Lake Heights died Monday, July 7 at King James Care Center, Middletown.

She was 85 years old.

Mrs. Phelan was born and raised in Montclair and resided in New York City, Japan, and spent twenty years in Portugal.

She graduated from Lacordaire Academy, Montclair and attended the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station.

Mrs. Phelan was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence J. Phelan, who died in 1985.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Crawley, Spring Lake Heights; nieces and nephews, Francis T., Jr., Martha L. Elizabeth R. and John J. Crawley, Anne M. Poomprakobsri, James R., Peter B., and Stephanie E. Phelan.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 12 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, Sea Girt. There are no calling hours.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Phelan's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 12 Roszel Road, Suite C203, Princeton.

Mark Molloy

There will be a Memorial Mass celebrating the life of Spring Lake and Sea Girt resident Mark Malloy, on Thursday, July 17 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake.

Gale C. Mangini

Gale C. Mangini of Brick Township, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Monday in her home.

She was 54 years old.

She was a communicant of Epiphany Roman Catholic Church, Brick. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she lived before moving to Brick in 1976.

She is survived by her husband Michael; a son, Michael of Point Pleasant; two daughters, Tracey Kushnir of Howell and Kerri of Brick; a brother, Robert Cloupe of Forked River; and five grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew Mangini; and William Walsh, Christian and Nicholas Kushnir.

Colonial Funeral Homes, Brick, is handling the arrangements.

Robert M. Aukamp

Point Pleasant resident Robert M. Aukamp died on Thursday, July 31, in the Claremont Nursing Home.

He was 88 years old.

He had a career with H&L Green as a store manager for 35 years before retiring. Mr. Aukamp then worked for Two Guys for a period of time before signing on with the N.J Department of Motor Vehicles, where he was in charge of administering the test of persons wishing to obtain a motorcycle license. He continued to work, part time, at Beaver Dam Hardware until the age of 85.

Mr. Aukamp served with the U.S. Marines during World War II, and was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manasquan. For many years his wonderful voice sang out in praise with the church choir. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are: his brother Lloyd, Lancaster, Pa.; his sister Miriam Weaver, York Springs, Pa.; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Lynne, Dunedin, Florida.; a daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Paul DiCorcia, Point Pleasant; a grandson and his wife, David and Ruthann, Atlanta, Ga.; a grandson and his wife, Peter and Michelle, Florida; a granddaughter and her husband along with two great-grandchildren, Debbie and Brian, Liz Ann and Baiden, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; and granddaughter and her husband, Andrea and Eric Weiler, Dunedin, Fla.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, August 10, at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 11.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6 Osborn Ave., Manasquan.
