Kathryn Lytle Prior

Manasquan and Scottsdale, Ariz. resident Kathryn Lytle Prior died Thursday, May 13 in Thomasville, N.C. while visiting one of her children.

She was 89 years old.

Born in St. Louis, Mo, she lived in Scarsdale, N.Y., Scottsdale, Ariz., and was a summer resident of Manasquan.

She was a graduate of Scarsdale High School and attended Barnard College.

For about 10 years she worked in the administrative office of Runnells Hospital.

She was active with the Washington Rock Girl Scout Council, the Literacy Volunteers of America, the Childrens’ Specialized Hospital, Operation Crossroads Africa, and the Monday Afternoon Club.

She was an elder in the Fanwood Presbyterian Church.

An avid traveler, she ventured to Central America, Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, Indonesia, and various sites in Canada.

She loved the ocean, especially the Manasquan shore, and cruises.

Mrs. Prior was predeceased by her husband Donald Prior; her sister Italine “Torchy” Albertson; and her granddaughter Carol Becker Castino.

She is survived by her children Patricia Becker, Fanwood, N.J. and Scottsdale, Ariz., Audrey Mike Parker, Lexington, N.C., Peggy Wolfe Dunn, Berwick, Maine, and Thomas Prior, St. Augustine, Fla.; her 23 grandchildren; and 41 great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Memorial Funeral Home, Fanwood. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 3 at 2 p.m. at Greenwood cemetery, Brielle. Contributions in Mrs. Prior’s memory may be made to The Thomasville Medical Center Foundation, 207 Old Lexington Rd., Thomasville, N.C. 27360, or the Castino Children Trust Fund, c/o Kathryn Becker, 321 Wanut St., No. 267, Newtonville, Mass 02460, or the Fanwood Presbyterian Church.

Carmelinda Brady

Point Pleasant resident Carmelinda P. Brady died Friday, May 21 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Newark, she moved to Point Pleasant 34 years ago.

She earned a master’s degree in psychological counseling from Rutgers University.

She dedicated her life to counseling those who were in need at Bayshore Counseling Center, Holmdel and in her community.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head and was a member of the National Association of Mental Health Counselors.

Mrs. Brady is survived by her loving husband Charles; her three loving sons Matthew, Scott and Patrick; her mother Dorothy Rostoff; and her sister Cathy Murphy.

Funeral arrangements were from Pable-Evertz Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Brady’s memory may be made to Friends of Loren “Mac” MacIver, c/o PBA Local 158, P.O. Box 946, Point Pleasant 08742.

Anna Stabile

Manasquan resident Anna T. Stabile died Saturday, May 22 in Morris View Nursing Home, Morris Township, after a long illness.

She was 89 years old.

Born in Somerville, she lived in Raritan and in Mendham and Manasquan for 29 years before moving to Morris View Nursing Home in 1995.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Commercial School, Raritan.

She worked at the Raritan Woolen Mill during World War II, in the 1950’s she was employed at the Diehl Corp., Bridgewater, and American Hoechst in the 1960’s.

She owned and operated with her late husband, Vincent, the Raritan House.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Mendham.

Mrs. Stabile was predeceased by her husband Vincent in 1979.

She is survived by her son Jim, Morristown; her two granddaughters Jill, Roxbury Twp. and Victoria, Philadelphia; her two sisters Margaret Sabol, Somerville and Eleanor Soriano, Manasquan; and her several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home.

Lucille Sachse

Point Pleasant resident Lucille M. Sachse died Thursday, May 20 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 80 years old.

Born in Kaukauna, Wis. she lived in Paoli, Pa. for 30 years before spending the last month of her life at the Waterford Glen Assisted Living Facility, Wall.

Mrs. Sachse was predeceased by her husband George P. Sachse in 1990.

She is survived by her sons George, Point Pleasant and Paul, Sunnyvale, Calif.; her daughter Lucinda Furlong, Honey Brook, Pa.; her brother Tom Brown, Big Bear Lake, Calif.; and her four sisters Betty Conrad, Appleton, Wis., Beverly Dimperio, West Covina, Calif., Laverne Linskens, Kaukauna, Wis. and Margaret Vermeern, Appleton, Wis.; and her seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home.

Edward Polloway

Avon resident Edward Polloway died Tuesday, May 18 in Tower Lodge Care Center, Wall.

He was 89 years old.

Born in West Chester, N.Y., he lived in Kearny before moving to Avon in 1946.

He was a health insurance consultant for Prudential Insurance Company, Newark for 44 years retiring in 1976.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Holy Name Society and usher at the church for 56 years, the Prudential Retired Employees Association, the American Association of Retired Persons, treasurer of the Leisure Citizens of Avon, Senior Citizens bowling league of Sea Girt, honorary member and former treasurer of the Belmar Fishing Club, former member of the Avon Board of Education, Avon Welfare Board and former president of the Tri Boro Little League, and delivered meals on wheels for the nutrition center for 22 years.

Mr. Polloway was predeceased by his wife Helen Armitage in 1994.

He is survived by his one son Edward A Polloway, Lynchburg, Va.; his two daughters Janice Dittus, Barefoot Bay and Eunice Polloway, Oakland Park, Fla.; his sister Elizabeth Regula, North Arlington; his two grandchildren Lyndsay Polloway and Michael Dittus; and his dear companion Magdalene Holland.

Funeral arrangements were from the Armitage Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Polloway’s memory may be made to Avon First Aid Squad or the Helen and Ed Polloway Memorial Fund c/o Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, Va. 24501.

Elizabeth Spinosa

Spring Lake Heights resident Elizabeth A. Spinosa died Tuesday, May 25.

She was 89 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, she moved to the shore in 1972.

She dedicated her life to her husband and family and was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure to know and love her.

Mrs. Spinosa is survived by her husband Savino of 65 years; her three sons and daughter-in-laws Kenneth and Elizabeth, Sea Girt, Michael and Nancy, Sarasota, Fla., and Paul and Elaine, Spring Lake Heights; her daughters Ellen Dexter, Englewood, Colo. and Elizabeth Montagna, Rolling Meadows, Ill; and her 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Mass at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan at 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Catharines Church, Spring Lake.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Spinosa’s memory may be made to Meridian Hospice, 4900 Rt. 33, suite 200, Neptune 07753.

Eileen Reed

Spring Lake Heights resident Eileen C. Reed died Friday, May 21 in her home.

She was 70 years old.

Born in Jersey City, she lived in Manhattan, N.Y., and Belmar before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 1989.

She was employed as an administrative assistant in the advertising business in N.Y.C. for many years before retiring.

She was a communicant of St. Catharine’s and St. Margaret’s Parish, Spring Lake.

Mrs. Reed was predeceased by her husband Raymond Reed Esq. in September 1988; her brother Thomas Degnan; and her two sisters Margaret M. Harding and Catherine Degnan.

She is survived by brother John Degnan; her step-daughter Nancy Delmoro, Sarasota, Fla.; and her several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home.

William Ruckert

Manasquan resident William J. Ruckert Jr. died Friday, May 21, in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, after a battle with a year-long illness.

He was 70 years old.

Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in Brielle before moving to Manasquan six years ago.

He graduated in 1951 from St. Peter's High School, New Brunswick, and from Rutgers University in 1959.

He retired eight years ago as a senior director of Information Systems, International Division, Schering-Plough Corp., Kenilworth.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1955.

He was a communicant of St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, Manasquan.

He was a former member of the Manasquan River Golf Club, the Manasquan River Yacht Club, Elks Lodge 234, Manasquan, and the Belmar Fishing Club. He was an avid fisherman and a reader of history, particularly World War II topics.

He enjoyed sunsets on Singer Island, woodworking, traveling, and Christmas. He especially loved his family.

Mr. Ruckert was predeceased by his parents, William and Henrietta Johansen Ruckert; and sister, Eileen Elizabeth Ruckert.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sheila Austin Ruckert; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen and James Stokes, Spring Lake, and Karen and Robert Crines, Brielle; his son and daughter-in-law, William John III and Debra Ruckert, Brielle; his sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Kenneth Walter, Richmond, Va.; his eight grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Meghan and James Stokes, William John IV, Brendan and Conor Ruckert, and Kelly Crines; and his many nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Denis Church, Union Avenue, Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Rucker's memory may be made to the Brain Tumor Center at Duke University, P.O. Box 3624, Durham, N.C. 27710.

John Stefano

Wall resident John Stefano died Monday, May 24, in Geraldine Thompson Medical Home, Wall.

He was 93 years old.

Born in N.Y.C., he lived in Kearny for 35 years, before moving to the Shore area.

He was a retired chef owning several restaurants: the Dolly Diner, Lyndhurst; the Bright Spot, Kearny; Stefano's Diner, Nutley; and locally the Cow Barn and the Deauvill Inn, Wall.

Known as Chef John, he had a radio show on WJLK with Dick Lewis, "Cooking Hints." He was a 50-year member of Copestone-OPHIR Lodge 108 F&AM Kearny.

He was a member of the Monmouth County Ham Radio Club, a harmonica buff known as "Harmonica John."

Mr. Stefano was predeceased by his wife of 74 years, Dolly, in May 2003.

He is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-laws, Raymond and Barbara, Point Pleasant, and Charles and Linda, Wall; his 14 grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandson.

Services will held by the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, 901 Beaver Dam Road, Point Pleasant at 9 a.m. today, Thursday, May 27.
