Barbara Marschalk

Wall resident Barbara Morton Marschalk died Friday, May 28.

She was 59 years old.

She was a life long resident of Manasquan and Wall Township.

She was a member of the Manasquan United Methodist Church.

She was predeceased by her father Richard D. in 2001.

She is survived by her loving husband Paul of 39 years; son Scott, Brielle; daughters Nancy and her husband John Brannon, Wall, Diana and her husband Tom While, Wall; mother Lillian Morton, Manasquan; sister Nancy Kubaitis Farley, Point Pleasant; four grandchildren, Kylie, Emily, Sean, and Caroline.

Memorial Services will be held today, Thursday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at the Manasquan United Methodist Church. Arrangements are from the O’Brien Funeral Home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Morton’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 8011 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, N.J., 07702.

Elizabeth Carden

Sea Girt resident Elizabeth B. Carden died Sunday, May 30 in Meridian Nursing and Rehab Center, Brick.

She was 78 years old.

She was born in Cranford, and lived in Elizabeth and Pittsburgh, Pa. before returning to Sea Girt 31 years ago.

Mrs. Carden was a homemaker.

She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, James D. Carden in 1995.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Rettaliata, Bayshore, L.I.,N.Y.; her sons James J.,Sea Girt, Robert T., Bethesda, Md., and Thomas J., Palm Beach, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Road Wall, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Carden’s memory may be made to the Manasquan First Aid Squad, 65 Broad St., Manasquan, N.J., 08736.

Elizabeth Brady

Merritt Island, Fla. and former Brielle resident Elizabeth B. Brady died Sunday, May 23.

She was 46 years old.

Born in Waltham, Mass., she lived in Snowmass, Colo., Brielle, and Merritt Island, Fla.

She was CEO of American Heritage Title Company of Cocoa and Adams Title of Palm Bay.

Prior to coming to Merritt Island, Mrs. Brady operated The Elizabeth Ryan jewelry stores in Snowmass, Colo. and Isamorada, Fla. In Snowmass she was the comptroller of The Colorado Ski Company and the owner of the Manga Manga Italian Restaurant.

With such a busy schedule, she was still active with her son’s participation in basketball and football at Merritt Island Christian School. On the day of her death, she had a picnic at her home for all the members of the girls and boys basketball team for a great season.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Brady; son, Ryan; brother, Malcolm “Bev” Brown, Longport; sister, Joan Patton, Watertown, Mass.; mother-in-law Fran Brady, Brick; and sister-in-law Beth Brady, East Hampton; nieces, Joan Delgizzi and Kelly Kane; and nephew, Shawn Brown.

Funeral arrangements were from Wylie-Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Brady’s memory may be made to The Merritt Island Christian School’s annual fund ‘The Liz Brady Bus’,140 Magnolia Avenue, Merritt Island, Fla. 32952.

Teresa McCooey

Belmar resident Teresa E. McCooeyy died Friday, May 28 in her home.

She was 87 years old.

She was born in Jersey City and lived in Avon before moving to Belmar.

She retired from the Ford Motor Co., Newark where she worked in the Personnel Department.

She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church, Avon. She was also a member of AARP.

She was predeceased by two brothers, George and John McCooey; and a sister Catherine McCooey -West.

She is survived by two nephews, Robert and Michael McCooey; and two nieces Shelia Longo and Maryann McCooey.

Funeral arrangements were from the Reilly Funeral Home.

Georgiana Ardolino

Brick resident Georgiana Makris Ardolino died Thursday, May 27 at Waterford Glen, Wall.

She was 46 years old.

Born in Morristown, she resided for the past 10 years at Greenbriar II, Brick.

Known as “Ginny”, she was a graduate of Asbury Park High School and was employed as an office supervisor for Prudential Insurance Company, Matawan for 25 years.

She was a member of the St. George Church, Asbury Park.

She will be remembered by all for her selflessness, devotion to her family, huge he art, and giving spirit.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Anastasia Theofanides Makris, and her sister, Mary Daley.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Agostino “Gus” Ardolino; her daughter and son-in- law Virginia Clark-Renehan and Michael Renehan, Wall; her son and daughter-in-law George and Susanne Ardolino, Wall; her brothers Art Makris, Houston, Texas, and George Makris, Interlaken; her sisters Alice Kely, Lady Lakes, Fla., Helen Mamukari, Cape Coral, Fla., Smitzie Louloudes, Cape Coral, Fla.; her grandchildren Lawrence Clark, Bridget Clark, and Alison Ardolino; and her great grandchild Liam Clark.

Funeral Arrangements were from Neary Quinn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Ardolino’s memory may be made to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean, 3300 Rt. 66, Neptune, N.J. 07753.

Evelyn Schneider

Sea Girt and Belgrade Lakes, Maine resident Evelyn Schneider died Tuesday, May 18.

She was 88 years old.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, she moved to the Jersey Shore over 50 years ago.

She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church.

She was previously active with various organizations including the Cub Scouts, Library Volunteers, and the American Heart Association.

She enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest, South America and Canada. She particularly liked Quebec.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1958.

She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home.

Patrick McGrath

Ridgefield, Conn., formerly Manasquan resident Patrick J. McGrath died Tuesday, June 1.

He was 74 years old.

Born and raised in N.Y.C., he lived in Manasquan, Anna Maria Island, Fla.and moved to Conn. in 2002.

He was a Korean War veteran serving in both the Army and Navy.

He retired from the N.Y.C. Transit Authority.

He became a Monmouth County Court officer in Freehold.

Mr. McGrath was predeceased by his wife Grace in 1997; his mother Mary in 2003 and his father Patrick in 1965.

He is survived by his four sons and two daughter-in-laws Patrick and Evelyn, Ridgefield, Conn., Michael and Irene, Bronx, N.Y., James, Bradenton, Fla. and John, Long Island, N.Y.; his two daughters and son-in-laws Kathy and Kenny Casey, Long Beach, N.Y., Rita and Bill Gegan, S. Belmar; two sisters Katherine Cronin, Bronx, N.Y., Margaret Dickson, Glasgow, Scotland; one brother Richard McGrath, Wyckoff; two uncles Patrick and John McClosky, Glasgow, Scotland; 12 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A private funeral will be held in Fla. followed by a memorial mass in September for family and friends.

Adrienne Janet Rogers

Guidance Counselor

Manasquan resident Adrienne Janet Moen Rogers died Friday, March 23 in her home.

She was 52 years old.

Born in Rahway, Mrs. Rogers moved to Manasquan 27 years ago.

She was a 1966 graduate of Wall High School, and earned a bachelor¹s degree in education from Elon College, North Carolina, in 1970.

Mrs. Rogers was employed from 1987 through 2001 as a guidance counselor with Wall Middle School. Previously, she was employed as a health and physical education teacher with Wall High School from 1974 to 1987, Laingsburg Middle School, Michigan, from 1973 to 1974, and Neptune Junior High School from 1970 to 1972. She also coached gymnastics and track and field at Wall High School.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan, where she served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

She was a treasurer of the Spring Lake Dance Company.

She was predeceased in 1989 by her father, Cornelius Moen.

Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Bill Rogers; one daughter, Krista J. Rogers, Savannah, Ga.; her mother, Marie Moen, Wall Township; two sisters, Barbara Luttman, Wall, and Vivian Moen, Eugene, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Contributions in Mrs. Rogers¹ memory may be made to the Adrienne Moen Rogers Scholarship Fund, c/o Todd Luttman, Wall Township Board of Education, 18th Avenue, Wall, 07719.

Elizabeth Gilson

Former Resident

Warrenton, Va., resident Elizabeth 'Betty' Waywell Garino Gilson, formerly of Avon-by-the-Sea, died Wednesday, March 14 in Warrenton.

She was 92 years old.

Mrs. Gilson lived in Athens, Ala., Chattanooga, Tenn., and Avon, moving to Virginia in 1987.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Ernest Garino, and her second husband, James Gilson.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, James Garino, Athens, Ala., and Robert and Roberta Garino, Alexandria, Va.; one daughter, Margaret Clingenpeel, Stafford, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7 in Cedar Lawn cemetery, Paterson.

Contributions in Mrs. Gilson¹s memory may be made to the Avon-by-the-Sea Public Library.
