Jonas Juraitis

Fanwood resident Jonas Juraitis, whose grandson lives in Sea Girt and former daughter-in-law lives in Spring Lake Heights, died Monday, Nov. 1 in his home.

He was 95 years old.

Born in Marianpole, Lithuania, Mr. Juraitis moved to Fanwood after bringing his family safely out of war-torn Europe. He resided in Fanwood for over 50 years. In his native country, he was a forester and in Fanwood he was employed by the Fanwood Presbyterian Church until his retirement.

Mr. Juraitis was predeceased by his wife, Eugenia, and a son, Vytas.

He is survived by son, Antanas Juraitis, Freehold; two grandchildren, Christopher Juraitis, Freehold, and William Ely, Sea Girt, and his former daughter-in-law, April Ely, Spring Lake Heights. He also leaves nieces and nephews in Canada and Lithuania.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

John V. Jones

Upper Freehold resident John V. Jones, a former resident and police sergeant in Brielle, died Sunday, Oct. 31 surrounded by the family he loved after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He was 76 years old.

Born in Paterson, he lived in Sea Girt, Brielle and Allenwood before realizing his dream of building his farm in Upper Freehold.

He was a retired sergeant of the Brielle Police Department, a taxidermist, tree surgeon and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Jones, known fondly to many as Jack, touched the lives of all who knew him. He loved caring for his farm, had a tremendous love and respect of nature and truly enjoyed his family and friends. All who knew him will miss his unique sense of humor.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan G. Jones; son and daughter-in-law, David and Anonjak Jones, Feasterville, Pa., and their children Lacey, Ryan and Jonathan; daughter, Carol Sauer, Brielle, and her children, Robert, Kevin and Jessica; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Daniel De Soucey, Ocean Township, and their children, Christina, Daniel Jr. and Jennifer.

Funeral arrangements will be private. They are from the Funeral Service of New Jersey, Inc., Hillside.

Memorial donations can be made in his honor to the St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch, 07740 or to the Allenwood First Aid Squad. The family sends their heartfelt thanks to both.

Joan E. Bohrman

Morganville resident Joan E. Karpinski Bohrman, formerly of Brielle, died Monday, Nov. 1 in St. Claire’s Hospital, Dover.

She was 58 years old.

Born in Summit, Mrs. Bohrman was a longtime resident of Brielle. She moved to Morganville two years ago.

Mrs. Bohrman was a union negotiator for the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, AFL-CIO, in Silver Spring, Md.

She is survived by her two sons, James DiChiara, Seaside Heights, and Anthony DiChiara, New York City; sister, Sueann Desher, New Providence; brother, John Karpinski, Lenexa, Kan.; brother and sister-in-law, George and Janis Karpinski, Hilton Head, N.C.; ex-husband, Philip Bohrman, Brielle; dear friend, Bruno Salvatore, Morganville, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Atlantic View cemetery, Manasquan. Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, 500 Morris Ave., Springfield, 07081.

Earl H. Cline

Hudson, Wis. resident Earl H. Cline, formerly of Hobe Sound, Fla., who owned and operated a marina in Brielle, died Sunday, Oct. 31 in the Hudson Hospital.

He was 88 years old.

Mr. Cline was born on Oct. 29, 1916 in Flanders and is the son of Earl Henry Sr. and Pauline Cline. He was raised and attended school in Flanders.

In 1939, he wed Lucille Adams and had three children. She would later precede him in death.

In 1944, Mr. Cline enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He would be eventually released and honorably discharged. His patriotism was incredible as he was so proud of his country and being a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Cline owned and operated Earl’s Sun Service Station for 40 years in Irvington. Following this, he owned and operated Cline’s Anchorage Marina, Brielle.

In 1997, he was united in marriage to Dolores Brownson. Together they lived in Hobe Sound, Fla., prior to moving to Hudson.

Mr. Cline had a great disposition and demeanor. His attitude was uplifting and inspiring for those around him. His energy, even with recent health problems, stimulated yet astounded his family and friends. He loved life, whether hunting, boating, cooking, playing and watching golf.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Lucille, and children, Barbara Irene Maudsley and Bill Allen Cline.

Mr. Cline is survived by his wife Dolores Brownson Cline; daughter, Jeanne Cline, Manasquan; step-sons, Jim Brownson, Stillwater, Bob Brownson, Deep Haven, Minn., and Tom Brownson, Stillwater; grandchildren, Susan Maudsley Barrett, Kim Roznoy; great-grandchildren, Charles Barrett, Evan Roznoy, Jamie Roznoy, Tess Roznoy; step-grandchildren, Jenny Fitzgerald, and Ann, Amy, Scott, Erika, Mike, Jim and Matt Brownson.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Connell Family Funeral Homes, Hudson, Wis.

Memorial Service

A committal service for Thomas R. Hundley Ratz, a lifelong resident of Sea Girt, who died on Sept. 17, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Uriel the Archangel Church, Sea Girt. Interment of cremains will follow in St. Catharine cemetery, Wall. The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, is in charge of arrangements.

Richard G. Ferris

Toms River resident Richard G. Ferris, formerly of Manasquan, Wall Township, Brielle and Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, Oct. 5 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township, after a short battle with liver cancer.

He was 70 years old.

Born in Plainfield, Mr. Ferris graduated from Plainfield High School and then received a bachelor’s of art degree in economics from Bucknell University.

He was a First Lieutenant with the Army Signal Corp earning his wings in San Marcos, Texas and becoming a fixed-wing flight instructor at Fort Rucker, Ala. He also had a commercial boat license, ferrying yachts from numerous ports in Texas and Florida to the Jersey Shore.

Mr. Ferris was a 25 year friend of Bill W. He was a chef at many area restaurants, a driver for Allaire Limousine and an owner of an ice creamery in Brielle. He was an exempt member of Manasquan Fire Company No.2.

Mr. Ferris was predeceased by his wife, Annette Morrone Ferris.

He is survived by two daughters, Pam Morrone Massarelli, Hutchinson Island, Fla., and Joanne Morrone LeBel, Guilderland, N.Y.; stepson, Jeffrey Morrone, Livingston, and four granddaughters, Samantha Schroeter, Sadie Jane Schroeter, Madyson LeBel and Kendra LeBel. He is also survived by his brother, Robert L. Ferris, North Little Rock, Ark.; nieces, Kathleen Ferris Heim, Point Pleasant, and Jean Ferris, Cranford, and nephew, Paul Ferris, Cranford.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, 07719.

Joseph C. Boyan

Spring Lake Heights resident Joseph C. Boyan died Tuesday, Oct. 5 in Shorrock Gardens Care Center, Brick Township.

He was 75 years old.

Born in Teaneck, Mr. Boyan lived in Fort Lee before coming to Spring Lake Heights in 1974.

Mr. Boyan was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War serving in the Seabees. Upon returning home to Norwood, he went to work as a heavy equipment operator for G.M. Brewster and Son of Bogata. He was a member of Local 825 of the Operating Engineers Union from which he retired. He was known as a premier grader operator on many projects, including the Garden State Parkway, N.J. Turnpike, N.Y. Thruway and many of the interstate highways constructed in the 1950s through the 1990s.

He was a parishioner of St.Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake.

Mr. Boyan was predeceased by his wife, Helen States Boyan, in 2001; his parents, Anna and James Boyan; sisters, Katherine Kenny, Anne Gatens, Elizabeth Kell, Ruth Boyan, and Theresa Johnston, and brothers, William, George, and Edward Boyan.

Surviving are his son, Joseph C. Boyan Jr., Eugene, Ore.; sister, Dolores Chrzanowski, Waldwick, and brothers, James, Sea Girt, and Thomas, Spring Lake. He also leaves many, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, 07834 would be appreciated.

Mabel Foster Neill

Former Wall Township resident Mabel Foster Neill died Sunday, Oct. 3 in Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

She was 51 years old.

Mrs. Neill was born in Neptune and raised in Howell. She was a 1971 graduate of Howell Township High School.

A free-spirited personality, Mrs. Neill had a wonderful appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. She loved animals, children, plants and nature, and Disney World. During her all too short adult life, she worked as a cook, a cashier, an entrepreneur and a homemaker. She will be sorely missed by her family and everyone who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Neill was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy Schwarz-Foster and Eric H. Foster Sr.

She leaves behind her longtime loving companion, Rod Krasnostein, Lakewood; four brothers, Eric H. Foster Jr. and his wife, Margaret, Freehold, Douglas Foster and his wife, Karen, Brick Township, Jack Foster, Baton Rouge, La., Jeffrey Foster and his wife, Joyce, Wall Township; two sisters, Dorothy Dreyer and her husband, Richard, Sea Girt, and Judith Fervent and her husband, Andrew, Wall. Also surviving are ten nieces and nephews: Dawn, Eric, Kimberly, Meredith, Rich, Drew, Tom, Jaime, Jennifer, and Peter.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Louise C. Donegan

Belmar resident Louise C. Donegan died Thursday, Oct. 7 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 96 years old.

Born in Manhattan, Mrs. Donegan lived in the Bronx before moving to Belmar 20 years ago.

Mrs. Donegan was one of the first riveters during World War II. She retired many years ago from the Department of Boilers in New York City after 20 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter C. Donegan, and one daughter, Louise Donegan.

She is survived by one nephew, Christian J. Larsen; two nieces, Joan McGrath and Eileen Gleason, and twelve grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

Joseph A. Mannion

Belmar resident Joseph Aloysius Mannion, formerly of Jersey City, died Friday, Oct. 8 in his home of lung cancer.

He was 68 years old.

Born and raised in Jersey City, he moved to Belmar in 1981.

Mr. Mannion worked as an independent insurance agent in the Belmar area for many years.

He was a communicant of the Church of St. Rose, Belmar, for 23 years. He is a former communicant of St. Aloysius, Jersey City.

Mr. Mannion is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Rutherford, and Providence College, Rhode Island. In the 1960s he served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the New Jersey Army National Guard. He served on the board of trustees of St. Francis Hospital, Jersey City for several years in the 1970s. He also served on the Belmar Planning Board for several years.

Mr. Mannion was predeceased by his parents, Joseph A. Sr. in 1960 and Marie G. Mannion-Enright in 2002.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Tormey Mannion; three sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph, Martin, Matthew and Pamela Gorman Mannion, all of Wall; two daughters and a son-in-law, Eileen Mannion, Belmar, and Barbara and Ed O’Neill, Interlaken, and six grandchildren, Caitlin, Jack, Hannah, and Declan Mannion, and Daniel and Grace O’Neill.

Funeral arrangements were from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Church of St. Rose, 603 7th Avenue, Belmar, 07719 would be appreciated.

Rebecca Sinn

Ellicott City, Md. resident Rebecca R. Sinn, beloved daughter-in-law of Joan and Jack Sinn, Brielle, died Wednesday, Sept. 22 in her home.

She was 49 years old.

Mrs. Sinn was the general manager of the Wyndham Inner Harbor Hotel, Baltimore and former general manager of Loew’s New York Hotel in Manhattan for many years. She was born in Michigan, raised in Minnesota and was a graduate of Denver University.

Mrs. Sinn is survived by her beloved husband, Christopher; son, Joshua; parents, Darlene and Ted Rugland; brothers, Carl Rugland and sister-in-law, Debbie, Mark Rugland and sister-in-law, Diane; brother-in-law, Jonathan Sinn; step-brothers-in-law, Michael Birch and his wife, Stephanie, Timothy Birch, Patrick Birch and sister-in-law, Rosemarie, Kevin Birch and Stephan Birch, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place Friday, Oct 15 at noon at St. Mary’s by the Sea Church, Bay and Forman avenues, Point Pleasant Beach, followed by interment in its memorial garden.

Funeral arrangements were from Going Home Cremation Service, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.
