Aurora A. Boyle

Avon-by-the-Sea resident Aurora “Tootsie”A. Boyle, died Tuesday, Oct 12 in Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

She was 76 years old.

Born in Bayonne, Mrs. Boyle moved to Avon in 1962.

She was a lifelong health care professional. After graduation from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in New York City, she was employed with Western Electric in Kearny. She later worked at Paterson Army Hospital in Fort Monmouth and Cecom in Eatontown. Her latest position was as the school nurse at St. Rose Grammar School, Belmar.

Mrs. Boyle was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church, Avon, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Elizabeth. She is a graduate of St. Mary’s Grammar School and Holy Family Academy, both of Bayonne.

Mrs. Boyle is survived by her husband of 54 years, Francis X. Boyle; three daughters, Mary Ellen McHale, Janet Margaret Lucas, and Judith Stengele; two sons, Eugene and Francis Boyle; two brothers, Einer and David Von Schaumburg, and seven grandchildren, Francis, Paul, Michael, Brian, Kevin, Brendan and Caitlin.

Visiting will be today from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Reilly Funeral Home, 8th Avenue and D Street, Belmar. The family will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Church, Avon. Interment will follow at St. Anne’s cemetery, Wall Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Right to Life would be appreciated.

Charles Wehmeyer

Point Pleasant Beach resident Charles Wehmeyer, formerly of Manasquan, died Monday, Sept. 20 in Sunnyside Manor, Wall Township.

He was 95 years old.

Born in Long Branch, Mr. Wehmeyer lived in Verona, then Silver Beach, Dover Township for 31 years before moving to Point Pleasant Beach in 1984. He also live at times in Manasquan with his daughter, Jean Lamo.

He was the owner of Wehmeyer Vendors, Normandy Beach for over 50 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church, Normandy Beach, was an active member of the church choir and was a eucharistic minister. Mr. Wehmeyer was the first lector of St. Bonaventure Church, Lavalette, and Our Lady of Peace Church and was president of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Peace Church. He was the recipient of the Medallion Circle Award, given to him by Bishop John Smith on Nov. 23, 1997.

Mr. Wehmeyer was also 35-year founding member of the Dover Brick First Aid Squad and a trustee of the Silver Beach Homeowners Association.

He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Agnes Wehmeyer, in 1999; son, Charles, in 1985, and grandson, Marco Lamo, in 1980.

He is survived by twin daughters, Joan Koerner and her husband, Larry, Toms River, and Jean Lamo, Brick Township; four brothers, Edward, William, John and James; sister, Eleanor Santangelo; daughter-in-law, Rose; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Lavallette.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dover Brick First Aid Squad or a charity of your choice.

Keith Beenick

Spring Hill, Fla. resident Keith Beenick, formerly of Spring Lake, died Monday, Aug. 23, in Brooksville, Fla.

He was 33 years old.

Born in Jersey City, Mr. Beenick lived in Hazlet and Spring Lake before moving to Spring Hill, Fla. four months ago.

He was a sheet metal worker with Bonland Industries, Wayne, for four years.

He was a 1988. graduate of Raritan High School, Hazlet.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Beenick is survived by: his parents, Frank and Sharon Beenick, Spring Hill, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, April and Anthony Lawrence, Spring Hill, Fla.; two nephews, Dean and Zachary Lawrence; and his grandmother, Anna Beenick, Maryland.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Road, Brick.

Memorial Mass for Dr. Richard McCarthy

A Memorial Mass for Dr. Richard McCarthy will be held Friday, Oct. 15 at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan, at 11 a.m.

Marie L. Ippolito

Brielle resident Marie L. Ippolito died Tuesday, Sept. 28 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 74 years old.

Born in Orange, Mrs. Ippolito resided in Manasquan for seven years before moving to Brielle in 1971.

She was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Ippolito Sr., who died in 1998, a brother, Salvatore and a sister, Lillian.

Mrs. Ippolito is survived by sons, John J. Ippolito Jr., Manasquan, Robert Ippolito, Brick Township, Anthony Ippolito, Brielle, Patrick Ippolito, Thomas Ippolito, and William Ippolito, all of Point Pleasant, Joseph Ippolito, Key West, Fla.; sister, Josephine Ezekian, Toms River; grandchildren, Anthony, John, Cynthia, Patrick, Victoria, Jake, Matthew, Kylie, Dylan and Dean Ippolito, and two step-grandchildren, Jaclyn and Daniel Robertori.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Margaret M. Boyd

Wall Township resident Margaret Mallon Boyd died Friday, Oct. 1 in her home after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

She was 59 years old.

Born and raised in the Germantown and Chestnut Hill sections of Philadelphia, Mrs. Boyd has resided in the Manasquan Shores section of Wall Township for 37 years.

She graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy and Chestnut Hill College, Class of 1967. She received her master’s degree in education, with a certification in mathematics, from Monmouth University.

Mrs. Boyd taught in the Wall school system and then in the Howell Township for 23 years, retiring in 2002. While in Howell, she taught mathematics at Howell Middle School South. She was elected to the Who’s Who Amongst America’s Teachers.

Mrs. Boyd was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan, where she served on the parish council, the music liturgy committee, taught Confraternity of Christian doctrine [CCD], and worked with the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults [RCIA] program. She was a lay associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

She enjoyed knitting, travelling, and time with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Marmee. She is remembered as an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by son, Bruce Boyd Jr., Moab, Utah; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Daniel Hyde, Wall; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William Jr. and Judy Mallon, Cedars, Pa., and Jay and Betsy Mallon, Blue Bell, Pa.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and John Lombard, Blue Bell, and Paula and Paul Andersen, Williamstown; grandchildren, Kathryn, Margaret, and Daniel Hyde Jr.; dear friends, Art and Mary Ryan and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, c/o Dr. Stephen Rubin, M.D., University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, 1000 Courtyard Building, 3400 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104-4283.

Margarita Ensenat

Belmar resident Margarita Ensenat died Thursday, Sept. 30 in the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 86 years old.

Born in Mallorca, Spain, Mrs. Ensenat came to the United States in 1950. She lived in Newark and Union before moving to Belmar in 1984.

Mrs. Ensenat was predeceased by her husband, Bartolome Ensenat, in 1996.

She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette Ensenat, Shark River Hills; a sister, Magdalena Ensenat, Belmar; a nephew, Bart Ensenat, and a niece, Nancy Ensenat.

Funeral arrangements were from the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.

Frank Lenahan

Manasquan resident Frank Lenahan died Friday, Oct. 1 in his home.

He was 75 years old.

Born and raised in Newark, he lived in Bloomfield before retiring to Manasquan.

Mr. Lenahan is a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and Seton Hall University, South Orange.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Bloomfield and a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Ilaria, in 1986 and a brother, Ronald.

Mr. Lenahan is survived by his wife, Trina, Manasquan; two sons, Robert, Point Pleasant, and Steven, Point Pleasant Beach; daughter, Christine Degraw, Bayville; bother, Dennis Lenahan, Bloomfield; sister, Gail Miranda, Long Island, N.Y., and nine grandchildren, Michael, Britton, Erin, Tatum, Jonathan, Eric, Courtney, Joan and Maria.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Foundation for Life Hospice Care, 2101 Highway 34, Suite B, Wall, 07719.

Hugh E. McKenna

Spring Lake Heights resident Hugh E. McKenna died Saturday, Oct. 2 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

He was 88 years old.

Born in West Orange, he had lived in Florham Park for 30 years before his retirement in 1978. He then maintained a summer residence in Spring Lake Heights and a winter residence in Stuart, Fla.

Mr. McKenna was employed in the management division of Western Electric Corp., Kearny, for many years before retiring in 1978.

He was a graduate of Columbia University Midshipmen’s School and New York University, and had served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II

Mr. McKenna had served as a councilman in Florham Park and was very instrumental in building a municipal swimming pool for the children of the town. He was an original founder and communicant of Holy Family Church, Florham Park, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 641, Stuart, Fla., and since moving to Spring Lake Heights, he was a communicant of St. Catharine’s and St. Margaret’s Church.

He was predeceased by his two brothers, John and Eugene McKenna.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Doris McKenna; two sons, Hugh Jr., Morris Township, and Charles, Hawaii; daughter, Joan Elizabeth McKenna, Hillsborough, and sister, Eleanor Murphy, Clearwater, Fla.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Richard E. King

Spring Lake resident Richard E. King, a retired chief petty officer of the U.S. Navy, died Friday, Oct. 1 in his home.

He was 78 years old.

Mr. King was born on Worthington Avenue and resided in Spring Lake all his life.

Chief King was proud to serve the Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II, aboard the United States Ship [USS] Fogg and the USS Talladega.

Chief King, a standby reservist, was recalled to active duty to support the Korean Conflict. He served many years at Lakehurst Naval Air Station and retired on Jan. 6, 1970 from Naval Air Station [Flloyd Bennett Field], N.Y., after 26 years of service.

After his military retirement, Mr. King went to work for Winemiller Press, then worked for the Ocean Grove Times and finished his last 11 years working for the Borough of Spring Lake. He was a past member of the Spring Lake First Aid Squad.

He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Gladys King, and a brother, Albert Jay King.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years Lois Winemiller; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Alison King, Point Pleasant; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and John Olesen, Brick Township; his twin brother, Arnold James King, Spring Lake; seven grandchildren, Kristen, Richard Jr., Cory and Erica King, Justin Hartten, Tricia Monahan, and Eric Olesen, and nieces and nephews, Donna Marie, Quakertown, Pa., and Susan, Butch, and Billy, Florida.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Helen M. Enright

Spring Lake Heights resident Helen M. Enright died Saturday, Oct. 2.

She was 93 years old.

Mrs. Enright was born in Harrison and lived in West Caldwell for many years before moving to North Lavallette, Avon and then Spring Lake Heights 18 years ago.

She was a 1931 graduate of the State University of New York, Canton, and worked as a registered dietician in New Rochelle, N. Y., St. Joseph’s Hospital, Paterson, and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Elizabeth.

She was a member of the Leisure Citizens of Avon-by-the-Sea and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas of St. Elizabeth’ Church, Avon, Court No. 1486. She was a communicant of St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell, and St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake.

Mrs. Enright was predeceased by her husband, Harold, in 1987; daughters, Marguerite in 1946 and Catherine Ford on Aug. 12; her parents, Monica and John Balaniz; brother, Carl; brother and sister-in-law, John and Genevieve Balaniz, and her sister and brother-in-law, Monica and Donald McEvoy.

She is survived by her daughters, Frances Enright, Spring Lake Heights with whom she lived, and Rosemary Enright and son-in-law, Tegan Slaton, Key West, Fla.; beloved grandchildren, John Ford, Los Angeles, Calif., Erin Ford, Santa Monica, Calif., and Michael Ford, Spring Lake; son-in-law, Robert Ford, Spring Lake; sister-in-aw, Margaret Balaniz, North Arlington, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her loving extended family Mary Jean and Dick Kleissler, Avon and West Caldwell, Geraldine Stabile, Bayonne, Carol Ann and John Ford, West Orange, and the Ford cousins, their families and Duke.

Visiting will be from 9-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall, followed by a Mass of Christian burial which will be held at St. Catharine’s Church in Spring Lake at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Catherine’s cemetery, Sea Girt.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nursing Association, 67 Main Street, Manasquan, 08736.
