Sally Carr

Belmar resident Sally A. Mullen Carr died Tuesday, Aug. 24 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.

She was 75 years old.

Mrs. Carr was very active in the Irish community. She was a charter member of the Women of Irish Heritage of West Orange and the Jersey Shore. She was also a member of the John F. Cryan Association, Jerry Lynch Civic and Social Club, Irish Festival Committee, Giblin Association, and was also named Irish Woman of the Year by the friends of Brian Boru in 1989.

Born in Newark, she lived in Union for 24 years before moving to Belmar in 1992.

She will be greatly missed by her extended family and a host of friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years John “Jack” Carr in 2001; her parents Peter and Mae Mullen; two brothers James and William Mullen and two sisters Marie Plaugic and Dolly Harris.

Mrs. Carr is survived by son and daughter-in-law John and Kati Carr, Brick; daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Scott Hemsworth, Watchung; brother and sister-in-law Peter and Fran Mullen, Bloomfield; brother Thomas Mullen, Union; sister and brother-in-law Colleen and Martin Noonan, Union; sister Kate Mohr, Iselin; four grandchildren Jacqueline, Samantha, and Thomas Hemsworth and Evan Carr. She was also the aunt of 21, great-aunt of 34 and great great aunt of one.

Funeral arrangements were from the Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan.

Raymond Licata

Wanamassa resident Raymond J. Licata died Thursday, Aug. 25 in Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

He was 59 years old.

Mr. Licata was the Director of the Monmouth County Division of Social Services for 35 years before retiring in 2003.

He was an active member of the St. Anselm’s Church. He also volunteered for the 9-11 Memorial Project and Deal Lake Commission. He touched the lives of many and was everyone’s best friend.

He is predeceased by his parents Louis and Geraldine Licata.

Mr. Licata is survived by his two children Theresa Licata, Neptune City, and Raymond Licata Jr., Hoboken, and his sister Barbara L. Jones, Clifton.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Anselm’s Church, 1028 Wayside Road, Wayside, 07712 or to the Community YMCA of Red Bank, 166 Maple Ave., Red Bank, 07701.

Emil DeJacomo Jr.

Philadelphia resident Emil Paul DeJacomo Jr., whose mother and sister reside in Wall Township, died Thursday, Aug. 26 in St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch.

He was 53 years old.

Born in Jersey City, Mr. DeJacomo resided in Brown Mills before moving to Philadelphia two years ago.

He is predeceased by his father Emil P. DeJacomo, who died in 1996.

Mr. DeJacomo is survived by his mother Ann DeJacomo, Wall; two daughters Danielle DeJacomo and Dina DeJacomo, both of Brown Mills; brother and sister-in-law David and Toni DeJacomo, Elmwood Park; sister and brother-in-law Diana and Richard Anselmo, Wall; niece Chloe Anselmo, Wall, and the mother of his children Susan DeJacomo, Brown Mills.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. DeJacomo’s memory to St. Barnabas Hospice Care Center, CW 6, 300 2nd Ave., Long Branch, 07740.

Benjamin Ciallella

Sea Girt resident Benjamin E. Ciallella died Saturday, Aug. 28 in his home.

He was 81 years old.

Mr. Ciallella operated a shoe repair business in Bradley Beach, then was a delivery man for Frosted Products in Spring Lake for 13 years, before retiring with Tommy’s Ice Cream in Neptune 22 years ago.

Born in Jersey City, he was raised in Belmar before moving to Sea Girt 60 years ago.

He attended Manasquan High School and in 1943 he entered the Army Air Forces serving in California at McClellan and Mather Fields during World War II. In 1945 he was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division and served in Nuremberg, Germany during the Nuremberg Trials.

He was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt. He also served as an umpire for the Spring Lake and Sea Girt Little Leagues, and he was Assistant Scout Master, Troop 55 in Sea Girt.

Mr. Ciallella is predeceased by his parents Pompeo and Antonia Ciallella and son Lance Cpl. John Ciallella, U.S. Marine Corps, in Vietnam in 1968.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marguerite Ciallella; daughter Christine Diane, Bayonne; son retired Lt. Steven Ciallella, U.S. Navy, Norfolk, Va.; brothers Peter, Hobe Sound, Fla., and Philip, Spring Lake Heights and three grandchildren Derek, Steven Thomas, and Noelle.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the John Ciallella Football Award, C/O Athletic Dept., Red Bank Catholic High School, Red Bank, 07701.

Peter King

Spring Lake resident Peter Norton King died Friday, Aug. 27 in his home.

He was 53 years old.

Born in Spring Lake, he also live in Manasquan, Brick Township, and Toms River before returning to Spring Lake.

He graduated from Gettysburg College where he studied history and studied abroad in India.

He worked for the state before beginning his career as a professional musician which included several years as a concert artist with Lowrey Organ.

He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, intellect, beautiful music, and good nature.

Mr. King will be missed by his three children Bonnie and Timothy, Toms River, and Jessica Henry, Manahawkin; his father Wayne, Manasquan; his aunt Vera, Spring Lake; four siblings Darcy Voreis, Noblesville, Ind., Douglas, Roselle Park, Elise, Berkeley, Calif., and Steven, River Vale, and five nieces and nephews Krista, Jamesburg, and Jeffrey Voreis, Mishawaka, Ind., Eric Voreis, Kirkland, Wash., and Brianna and Danielle King, River Vale.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. King’s name made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 740 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702-4203, would be appreciated.

Anthony Walsh Sr.

Mt. Laurel resident Anthony D. Walsh Sr., whose daughter Mary Jane Pierce and her husband Paul Salgado reside in Manasquan, died Wednesday, Aug. 18 in Virtua Health of Burlington County, Mt. Holly.

He was 70 years old.

He formerly lived in Willingboro and Philadelphia.

Mr. Walsh was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Jane Walsh.

Mr. Walsh is survived by his children Anthony Jr. and his wife Cheryl, Cinnaminson, Mary Jane Pierce and her husband Paul Salgado, Manasquan, and Joseph and his wife Nora, Chesapeake, Va.; grandchildren Brianna, Matthew, Jason, Paul, Joseph Jr. and Dylan and siblings Margaret Murray and Daniel Walsh.

Funeral arrangements were from Snover/Givnish Funeral Home, Cinnaminson.

Ann Carducci

Manasquan resident Ann Carducci died Wednesday, Aug. 18 in her home.

She was 92 years old.

Born in Italy, she was raised in Jersey City, and resided there, wintering in Florida, before coming to Manasquan 30 years ago.

Mrs. Carducci was the owner of Ann Jean Dress and Bridal Shop in Jersey City before retiring.

She was predeceased by her husband Patrick Carducci, her son Martin Carducci and her sisters Eleanor Stasi, Antoinette DiCubellis, Angela Scilla, and Rose DeSanto.

She is survived by her sisters Josephine Lattuca and Jean Lombard. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Mildred Farabaugh

Belmar resident Mildred R. Rooney Farabaugh, formerly of Nutley, died Wednesday, Aug. 18 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Farabaugh was born Oct. 19, 1912 in New York City to the late John and Frances Rooney. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School and earned her R.N. from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, New York. She worked at St. Vincent Hospital until retiring in 1960.

She married Dr. Robert Farabaugh and later moved to Nutley in 1947 where her husband established his medical practice and their five children flourished.

She was a member of the Alumni Associations of Cathedral High School and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, St. Mary’s Rosary Society, the Woman’s Club of Nutley, and the Essex County Medical Society Auxiliary.

She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Robert Farabaugh in 1981 and later by her son Peter.

She is survived by one son Robert, N.Y.; three daughters Lois Mall, Mo., Jeanne Jeskey, Warren, and Brenda Venino, Belmar; a brother Joseph Rooney, Fla.; daughter-in-law Margaret Farabaugh; 19 wonderful grandchildren and eight dear great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from McDonough Funeral Home.

Amil Arace

Margate, Fla. resident Amil Frank Arace, whose daughter Peggy Marinaro and her husband Robert Mottola reside in Manasquan, died Thursday, Aug. 19 in North Western Hospital, Margate.

He was 85 years old.

Mr. Arace was a truck driver for Arace Brothers Trucking in East Orange for 45 years before retiring in 1996.

He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II from 1942-1947.

He was a member of the National American Legion, the Elmwood Tiger’s Club and was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, all in East Orange.

Born and raised in East Orange while summering in Manasquan, he moved to Margate ten years ago.

He is predeceased by his son Robert Arace in 2003 and grandson Michael Marinaro in 1989.

Mr. Arace is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Jean Arace; son and daughter-in-law Phillip and Karen Arace, Bloomfield; daughters and sons-in-law Jeanie and James Smith, Glen Mills, Pa. and Peggy Marinaro and Robert Mottola, Manasquan; daughter-in-law Rosemarie Arace, Beachwood; sister Virginia Arace, East Orange; seven grandchildren James, Thomas, Frank, Tricia, Nicole, Robert, and Phillip and four great-grandchildren Justin, Kayla, Michelle, and Jack.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Felix Kessler

Wall Township resident Felix Thomas Kessler died Saturday, Aug. 21 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.

He was 88 years old.

Mr. Kessler was the president and founder of Kessler Brothers Poultry Processing Plant, Allaire, retiring in 1969.

He was a charter member of the South Wall Fire Company, past president of the North Shore Farmers Market and former member of the Wall Lions Club. He was also an avid golfer.

A graduate of Manasquan High School, Mr. Kessler attended Rider College.

Born in Howell Township, he was a resident of Wall for the last 86 years.

Mr. Kessler is predeceased by his wife the former Winifred Allen Kessler in 2003 and a son Donald Kessler in 1982.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Doris and William Truex, Brielle; his grandchildren Frederick Truex and his wife Lynne, Felix Truex, Michael Kessler, Shawn Kessler, Daniel Kessler and great-grandson Matthew Truex.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.
