E. Brian Pfarr, 51, of Parlin, passed away, Thursday, January 15, 2009, at home.

Born in Rahway, he resided in Laurence Harbor, before moving to the Parlin section of Sayreville, eight years ago. He was employed for 20 years as an Assistant Vice-President, Broker Dealer Service Department, with Chase Bank, West Paterson. He was a communicant and assistant organist with St. Lawrence RC Church, Laurence Harbor.

Brian was predeceased by his father, Eugene G. Pfarr. Surviving is his mother, Alice (Yackulich) Pfarr of Laurence Harbor; and a sister, Lynn Lotz, and her husband, Richard of Middletown; a niece, Lisa McCabe; a nephew, Justin Lotz; a great niece, Keeley McCabe; and several aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are invited, Sunday, 2-4 &7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ; and Monday, 8AM, at the funeral home, with a 9AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence RC Church, Laurence Harbor, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.

Marcia A. Boyle, 66, of Keyport, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

Born in Seattle, WA, she resided in Keyport for the past 50 years. She was employed as a Bank Teller with United Jersey Bank, before working as a receptionist with Semcor, Inc., Keyport.

Marcia was predeceased by her parents, Marcus and Edith (Owen) Sison; and two sisters, Geraldine and Consuelo; and four brothers, Frank, Thomas, Ricardo, and Ronald. Surviving are her two sons, Louis Boyle; and Bob Boyle and his fiancée, Carolyn, all of Keyport; her long time companion, Rick Bell of Keyport; sisters, Carolyn, Marilyn and Linda, all of New Jersey; Marlene and Francine, both of Seattle, WA; and brothers, Marcus and Robert, both of Seattle, WA; two grandchildren, Ashley Marie and Brittany Elise; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited Wednesday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, with an evening service at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1600 Route 22 East, Union, NJ 07083.

Josephine A. Cowan 84 of Holmdel passed away at the Bayshore Healthcare Center, Holmdel.

Born in Newark she lived there before moving to Keyport and Holmdel. Mrs. Cowan was an assembler operator at the Conmar Products Corp in Newark for 25 yrs before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Keyport seniors and a former communicant of St. Casmir’s RC Church, in Newark.

Josephine was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Cowan, her parents John & Elizabeth Kamyk, a brother Frank G. Kamyk and a great nephew Seth T. Kamyk. Surviving are her sister Joanne Voytek of South Amboy, nephews Thomas J and Frank J. Kamyk and 1 great niece and nephew.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 8: 30am at the Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place, Keyport followed by a 9: 15am mass at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Keyport. The entombment will follow at the St. Gertrudes Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4pm for online condolences or directions please visit dayfh@verizon.net

Louis L. Wermann, Sr., 83, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 9, 2009, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.

Born in West New York, NJ, he resided in Jersey City, before moving to Hazlet 50 years ago. He was employed with AT&T, Newark, as an accountant, before retiring in 1984. He was a communicant of Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach; a member of the Keyport Seniors; the Knights of Columbus #3402, Keyport; and the St. Clement’s Seniors. He served his country in the Army as a Staff Sargeant during WWII.

Louis was predeceased by his wife, Blanche, in 2002; his parents, Arthur and Margaret (Dehnert) Wermann; a son, Louis, Jr., in 2005; and a brother, Walter. Surviving are his children and their spouses; Margaret Ann and Steven DiGiambattisti of Holmdel; Karen and Bob Pinckney of Keyport; Janine and Oscar Salinas of Hazlet; and Kathleen and Michael Walling of Keyport; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Wermann of Hazlet; a brother and his wife, Arthur and Arline Wermann of Mt. Rose, PA; and ten loving grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited Monday, January 12, 2009, from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and Tuesday, January 13, 2009, 9AM, at the funeral home, with a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach. Entombment to follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Dorothy C. Keating, 76, of Hazlet, passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Bayshore Healthcare Center, Holmdel.

Born in the Bronx, she lived there until moving to Hazlet. She was employed as a merchandiser with Kmart, Hazlet for 20 years. She was a member of the Hazlet and St. Clement’s Seniors.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband James; and her parents, Harry and Eileen (Noble) Mohan. Surviving are three daughters and their spouses; Eileen Keating of Hazlet; Linda and Chuck Miles of East Amwell; and Nancy and Lou DeBasio of Norristown, PA; one brother, Harry Mohan of Venice, FL; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Nicole and Kristen DeBasio; and Travis and Jared Miles.

Family and friend are invited Monday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and Tuesday, 8: 30AM at the funeral home, with a 9: 15AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Keyport. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport.

Joseph Sidney Becnel, III (“Sid”), 68, of Keyport, Local artist and Master Gardener, died on Wednesday at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital, NYC.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Santelle) Lane; daughter, Joanna Becnel, NY; parents, Joseph S. and Lorraine (Benefiel) Becnel, LA; and, siblings Mary Ann Becnel of MS, Darryl Becnel of NV, and Michael Becnel, Kathleen Jennings, Elaine Romero of LA.

A former resident of Louisiana, Sid settled in Keyport in 1982 actively serving his community and St. Joseph’s Parish.

Visitation, Sunday 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. Funeral services, Monday, 8: 30AM at the funeral home with a 9: 15AM Mass at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Maple Place, Keyport. Vincent J. Gaynor, 87, of Keyport, passed away Wednesday, January 07, 2009, at home.

Born in Manhattan, NY, he resided in Manhattan and Highlands, before moving to Keyport 13 years ago. He was a chain plater with Eastern Chain, Manhattan, for 40 years, retiring in 1973. He served his country in the Army during WWII.

Vincent was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Kinsella) Gaynor in 1986; his parents, Patrick and Mary (Devaney) Gaynor; and a granddaughter, Lauren Apfel. Surviving are his children and their spouses; Joseph and Phyllis Gaynor of East Northport, NY; Richard and Jeannie Gaynor of Salem, VA; Janet and Richard Apfel of Bronxville, NY; Margaret and Ron Lisciandrello of Mercerville; Maureen and Steve McDonald of Nanuet, NY; and Patricia Gaynor and Harry Woodward of Highlands; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

James C. Hasemann, 51, of Matawan, passed away, Monday, January 5, 2009, at home.

Born in Perth Amboy, he was a lifelong resident of Matawan. He loved to read, the theatre and music.

Prior to his retirement, he currently worked as a loan officer with Two River Community Bank, Middletown.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Arlene (English) Hasemann. James was a loving brother and friend to his two brothers, Joseph of Matawan and Mark of Palm Coast, FL; and two sisters, Kathleen Shindle of Jackson and Linda Kreeger of Las Vegas, NV; and uncle to Suzanne, Lori, Erica, Carrieann and Judd.

Cremation was private under the direction of Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport.

Louis T. Marciano, 76, of Hazlet, passed away, Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.

Born in Newark, he resided in Irvington and Belford, before moving to Hazlet 40 years ago. He was employed as a salesman with K-Mart, Hazlet, for 20 years, retiring in 1993. He served his country in the US Marine Corps as a corporal during the Korean Conflict. He was a communicant of Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach; and a former member of the Italian American Club, Hazlet.

Louis was predeceased by his wife, Nancy M. Arena Marciano; his parents, Louis and Jenny (DiGicomo) Marciano; and eight siblings. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Grace and Jim Pais of Hazlet; two brothers, Anthony Marciano of Cliffwood Beach; and Ernest Marciano of Brooklyn, NY; a sister, Sarah Piscitelli of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Katey, Megan and John; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited Monday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and Tuesday, 9: 30AM, with a 10AM service at the funeral home. Interment to follow at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Vet. Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

John Francis “Jack” Keating, 64, of Whiting, passed away at home on Friday, January 2, 2009.

Born in the Bronx, NY, he resided in Manhattan, Old Bridge and Cliffwood Beach before moving to Whiting eight years ago. He was employed as a photogenic set up artist for Royal Composing in Manhattan for 25 years, and then worked as a warehouseman for Grainger in Robbinsville before retiring in 2005. He was a former communicant of St. Lawrence RC Church, Laurence Harbor, and was also a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. He served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the Printers Union, and was an avid golfer, and loved photography, the NY Giants and the NY Yankees.

He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine Nugent Keating in 2005; his parents, William Keating and Catherine Griffin Keating, and a brother, William. Surviving are two sons, Robert F. Keating of Keyport and Matthew J. and his wife Nicole Keating of Freehold; a brother, Michael of Manhattan, NY; three sisters, Marie Lundon of Whiting, Ronnie Casella of Carmel, NY, and Patricia Doherty of Whiting; and three grandchildren, Matthew R., Jack D. and Nicholas J.

Family and friends are invited Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport and Thursday at 8: 00 AM, with a 9: 00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church, Laurence Harbor. Entombment will follow at Forest Green Park Mausoleum, Morganville.
