Eileen E. Kenney Tollefsen

Naples, Fla. and Manasquan resident Eileen E. Kenney Tollefsen died Tuesday, Oct. 11 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

She was 76 years old.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she was a lifelong resident of Hastings on Hudson, N.Y. before moving to Naples, Fla. 14 years ago. Mrs. Tollefsen also maintained a residence in Manasquan for many years.

She was a communicant of St. William’s Church, Naples, and for many years had volunteered at Mt. St. Ursula, Bronx, N.Y.

Mrs. Tollefsen was a homemaker, a loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert; two sons, Stephen, of Hastings on Hudson, and Timothy, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three daughters, Barbara Moran, of Pelham, N.Y., Carol Benson, of Greensboro, N.C. and Loretta Carton, of Longwood, Fla.; a brother, William Kenney, of Connecticut; and Susan Broderick, of Closter; and seven grandchildren.

The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Benjamin Meserlin Sr.

Sea Girt resident Robert Benjamin Meserlin Sr. died Wednesday, Oct. 12 in Waterford Glen Assisted Living Facility, Wall Township.

He was 85 years old.

Born and raised in East Orange, Mr. Meserlin moved to Sea Girt 30 years ago.

He was a sales representative for 45 years for the former Addressagraph-Multigraph, a Charles Brunning Company in Teterboro, before retiring.

Mr. Meserlin was a volunteer for the East Orange Fire Company. He was a former member of the Wall Kiwanis Club No. 2560 and a communicant of St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Paula, in 1964, and his brother, Harold.

Mr. Meserlin is survived by his wife of 27 years, Vivian Wood; a son, Robert and his wife, Dianne, of Spring Lake Heights; a daughter, Barbara and her husband Lawrence Kucklinsk, of Brick Township; his brother, Albert, of Sea Girt; his sisters, Lorraine Schwartz, of West Orange, and June Brownlie, of Youngstown, Ohio; and his three grandchildren, Sandi Gardner, Kari Rallo and Traci Murphy.

Donations can be made in his name to the Mercy Center, 1106 Main St., Asbury Park, 07712.

O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, was in charge of the arrangements.

Paul R. Rapisardi

Wall Township resident Paul R. Rapisardi died suddenly on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

He was 57 years old.

Born in Paterson, Mr. Rapisardi lived in Short Hills before moving to Wall in 1972.

He was a partner in Crown Beer Distributors, LLC since November 2002 and has served as its CEO. Previously, Mr. Rapisardi owned Woodlake Oldsmobile in Lakewood, Peugeot-Saab of Wall, Crown Motors of Point Pleasant and Ambassador Limousine, formerly in Wall. He also was a partner in The Old Mill Travel Agency.

Mr. Rapisardi was a member of the State Police 2000 Club, the Republican Club in Wall, the Manasquan Elks Club and was on the board of Allaire Community Bank in Manasquan. He also was a past member of the Wall Chamber of Commerce and the Wall Township Planning Board.

Mr. Rapisardi was a 1965 graduate of Millburn High School and a 1969 graduate of C W Post University in Long Island, N.Y. with a bachelor of science degree. He was a communicant of St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Manasquan.

Mr. Rapisardi was predeceased by his father and mother, Ralph and Anne Rapisardi.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Margaret Mirto Rapisardi; his daughters, Melissa Anne and Victoria Anne Rapisardi, both of Wall; his stepson, James Burdge, of Farmingdale; his stepmother, Evelyn Rapisardi, of Elberon; his sister, Wendy Rapisardi Jones, and her husband, Robert, of Interlaken; his stepsisters, Alyssa Rogers, of Flemington, and Leslie DeAngelo, of Spring Hill, Fla.; his niece and nephew, Cara and Adam Jones, of Interlaken; and his uncle, John Rapisardi, of New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the American Red Cross or the South Wall Fire Company, 2605 Atlantic Ave., Allenwood, 08720.

Claude A. Burleson

Manasquan resident Claude A. Burleson died Thursday, Oct. 13, in St. Peters Medical Center, New Brunswick.

He was 81 years old.

Born in Danville, Ill., and raised in Indiana, Mr. Burleson served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper in Europe.

He was a graduate of Rutgers University. Mr. Burleson retired as executive vice president with General Telephone and Electronics, Stamford, Conn.

He spent many years sailing, golfing and traveling all over the world. Mr. Burleson spent winters in Boca Raton, Fla., and summered in Manasquan. During the summer, he loved sitting and reading on the beach for hours. In the last few years, Mr. Burleson began a new hobby, water coloring.

He was a member of Bella Vista Country Club in Marlboro and the Boca Raton Country Club. Mr. Burleson lived a wonderful life with no regrets.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma Zitani Burleson; his two sons, Ronny and Neil Burleson; his daughter, Sue Saggese; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Algonquin Arts Center, Claude Burleson Scholarship Fund, c/o Margaret Patterson, 57 Wycoff Ave., Manasquan, 08736.

Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, was in charge of the arrangements.

Audrey Thermann

A celebration of life will be held for Spring Lake resident Audrey Thermann on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church of Spring Lake.

The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. till service time at 2 p.m.

Arrangements were made by the Armitage Funeral Home, Wall Township.

Frank Terry

Bridgewater resident Frank Terry, father to Manasquan residents Douglas and Brian Terry, died Friday, Oct. 14 in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville.

He was 55 years old.

Born in Plainfield, Mr. Terry resided in North Plainfield before moving to Bridgewater 20 years ago.

He was a graduate of Tennessee-Wesleyan College. Mr. Terry was employed by Sentry Insurance Company where he was their top producer for 26 years.

Mr. Terry was an avid photographer, golfer and sports fan. He was active with the Manasquan Football Club and was a volunteer coach for the Manasquan Little League. He was a loving grandfather who adored his four grandchildren as well as a beloved friend to all who knew him.

Mr. Terry was predeceased by his mother, the former Catherine Ferraro.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sharon Lewczyk; his sons and their spouses, Douglas and Allyson, of Manasquan, Jeffrey and Aimee, of Westhampton, and Brian, of Manasquan; his grandchildren, Brady, Riley, Joshua and Jacob; his father, Oscar, of North Plainfield; his brother, William and his wife, Debora, of Howell, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Monday at 8:45 a.m. at the Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral service at St. Mary’s Church in Bound Brook. Cremation to follow at Somerset Hills Crematory in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family asks donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 600 First Ave., Raritan, 08869.

Funeral arrangements are provided by Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook.

Robert T. Heyder

Resident of the Greenbriar I section of Brick Robert T. Heyder, formerly of Brielle, died Sunday, Oct. 16 in his home.

He was 67 years old.

Born in Camden, Mr. Heyder resided in Winfield Park before moving to Brielle. He moved to Brick seven years ago.

Mr. Heyder was a sheet metal and iron worker, affiliated with the National Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers.

He was a volunteer firefighter with the Winfield Volunteer Fire Company and First Aid Squad for 20 years. Mr. Heyder served with the Brielle Fire Company from 1980 to 1995. He was an Associate Member of V.F.W. Post 1838, Manasquan.

Mr. Heyder was predeceased by his son, Michael Robert Heyder, who died in April 2004.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Pauline Settele Heyder; his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Mary Beth Wheeler, of Wall Township; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Eric Reed, of Dover, Ohio; his daughter, Donna Boa, Brick; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Judy Heyder, Hazlet; and grandchildren Joseph Boa, Michael Wheeler and Jeffrey Reed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on this morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church, Manasquan.

Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, is in charge of the arrangements.

Sara Trauth

Lakewood resident Sara Trauth, formerly of Sea Girt, died Sunday, Jan. 23 in JFK Medical Center, Edison.

She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Trauth was born in Orange and lived in Sea Girt before moving to Lakewood 15 years ago.

She is predeceased by her husband, Albert Trauth.

Mrs. Trauth is survived by two sons, Charles, of Independence, Ky., and Gregory, of Sterling Heights, Mich. Also surviving are five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Beatrice Morrison Day

Albuquerque, N.M. resident Beatrice Morrison Day, formerly of Wall Township, died Saturday, Jan. 22 after a long illness.

She was 83 years old.

Born in Plainfield, she lived in Wall and Brick Township before moving to Albuquerque four years ago.

Mrs. Day was a homemaker and a licensed practical nurse, LPN, earning her certificate from Monmouth County Vocational School, Long Branch, in 1971, at the age of 50.

She was a member of Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, Plainfield, and the First Presbyterian Church, Manasquan, and was a member of Presbyterian Women.

Mrs. Day was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William E. Day III, who died in 1999.

She is survived by three sons, Lawrence M. and his wife, Carole, Gladstone, Thomas W. and his wife, Robin, Albuquerque, and Stephen J. and his wife, Susan, West Linn, Ore.; two daughters and their husbands, Penelope D. and Kenneth Spaulding, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Catherine D. and John Riggsbee, Waynesville, N.C.; two sisters, Isabel Hildum, Worcester, Mass., and Audrey Tice, Flemington; a brother, Gordon Morrison, Rochester, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22 at the First Presbyterian Church, Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Arthritis Foundation New Jersey Chapter, 200 Middlesex Turnpike, Iselin, 08830, or to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, 07834.

Daniel F. Nash

Avon-by-the-Sea resident Daniel F. Nash, formerly of Bloomfield, died Thursday, Jan. 27.

Born in Orange, Mr. Nash lived in Bloomfield and Spring Lake Heights before coming to Avon nine years ago.

Mr. Nash was an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance in Park Ridge before retiring. He was a graduate of Seton Hall University and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Church in Spring Lake and St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Nash is survived by his wife, Arlyne Schrade Nash; a son, Robert Nash; daughters, Marilynn Dinwoodie and Susann N. Byrnes, and grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kate, Timothy, and Erin. He also leaves many cousins.

Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.

William J. Kane

Spring Lake resident William J. Kane died Thursday, Jan. 27 in Neptune.

He was 84 years old.

A resident of Middletown and Tinton Falls for thirty years, he resided in Spring Lake for the last seven years while wintering in North Fort Myers, Fla.

Mr. Kane was a self-employed [William Kane Associates] as a mechanical estimator for 20 years. He served in the Army during World War II as a second lieutenant. He was a former communicant of St. James Church in Red Bank where he was head usher. He was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake.

Mr. Kane is also a former chief of the Tinton Falls Fire Department, a past member of the Red Bank Catholic Booster Association, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Mechanical Contractors Association [MCA]. He coached the St. James Braves Little League and while his children attended St. James and Red Bank Catholic, he was very active in school and parish activities.

Mr. Kane was predeceased by his first wife of 54 years, Florence A. Kane, in 1994, and his sister, Catherine Clerkin.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Goetz Kane; sons, William J. Jr., Cape Coral, Fla. and Gregory J., Navesink; daughter, Patricia Delaney, Ft. Myers, Fla. and ten grandchildren, Lance Cpl. Kane C. Delaney, USMC, Heather, Kelly, Joshua, Jesse, Sarah, Samantha, Luke, Mallory and Melanie Kane.

Funeral arrangements were from the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
