MARGARET COSTELLO TOWLE of TOMS RIVER – died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 79.

Born in Jersey City, she resided in Hazlet for 40 years before moving to Toms River in 1992. She was a former communicant of Holy Family Church, Hazlet, and was active in various committees at Cedar Glen Homes .

She was predeceased by her husband William J. Towle, and by her siblings, Martin Costello, Catherine Finucane and Edward Costello.
Surviving are her four children, Martin of St. Cloud, MN, Mary Jane Sisk and her husband Patrick of East Windsor, Margaret Towle Pfeiffer and her husband Frank of Bridgewater, and William E. and his wife Stacy of Edison; two sisters, Mary Mohr of Timonium, MD and Julia Heavey of Toms River; and eight grandchildren, Jennifer Tinker, Kimberly Tinker, Catherine Sisk, Bethany Towle, Marti Jean Towle, Craig Tinker, Christine Sisk, and Ryan Towle.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9: 30 AM in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, followed by a 10: 30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church, Hazlet. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 9: 30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alex’s Lemonade Stand, 333 Lancaster Avenue, #414, Wynnewood, PA 19096.

Patrick Roy Hoelz, 46, of Cliffwood, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008, at home. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Hazlet before moving to Cliffwood.

He was a welder with Hoelz Welding Service, Jackson, and a member of the Bayshore Christian Fellowship, Keyport.

Patrick was predeceased by his father, Donald R. Hoelz. Surviving are his wife, Madeline (Cervasi) Hoelz; a son, Patrick Roy Hoelz, Jr. of South River; a daughter, Crystal Marie Hoelz of Cliffwood; his mother and stepfather, Norma L. (Stuart) and John Montgomery of Keyport; siblings, Bruce Hoelz of Jackson, Michael Hoelz and Sheryl Kilpatrick, both of Illinois, and Keith Hoelz of Keansburg.

Family and friends are invited Wednesday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, with an 8PM service at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.

Joseph T. D’Amico, 81, of Aberdeen, passed away, Thursday, December 4, 2008, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.

Born in Newark, he resided in Nutley before moving to Aberdeen. He was employed as a mail carrier with the US Postal Service, Nutley for 32 years, retiring in 1980. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He was a 1945 graduate of Central H.S., Newark. He was a member of the American Legion, Matawan; and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, James and Mary (Grosso) D’Amico, Sr. Surviving is his twin brother, James J. D’Amico, Aberdeen; a brother, Albert D’Amico of Belleville; four nieces and nephews, Leonard D’Amico, Theresa Turner, Margaret Beatty and Elizabeth Elmquist; five great nieces and nephews, Deborah and Michael D’Amico, Kimberly Turner, Eric and Heather Mieloch; and six great-great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited Monday, from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, with a 8PM service at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA, Tributes, 110 Fifth Ave., 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10011.

PIORKOWSKI, Stanley J., 58, of Oceanport, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

He resided in Freehold, Jackson and Howell, before moving to Oceanport five years ago. He was the owner/operator of R&S Auto Body and Pro-Line Auto Body, Howell; and was employed with Pro-Craft Auto Body, Oceanport. Stan was a member of the Ocean Grove Fish Club and the Washington Valley Game Protective Association.

Stanley was predeceased by his wife, Katharine Piorkowski, in 1999; and his parents, Stanley A. and Palmy Jiminez Diaz Piorkowski. Surviving are his children and their spouses; Kyle and Sarah Piorkowski of Burlington; Christian Piorkowski of Burlington; Denise and Robert Walcott of Rockwell, NC; Dawn and John Lohman of Salisbury, NC; Cindy and Cliff Barkalow of Jackson; Tina and James Whitfield of Jackson; Tammy Laforge of Salisbury, NC; and John and Lisa Laforge of Freehold; two sisters and their husbands, Stella and Joseph DeSiato of Salisbury, NC; and Sandra and Chuck Zewecke of Palm Coast, FL; and one grandson, Colin Piorkowski.

Family and friends are invited Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and Monday, 9: 45AM, at the funeral home, with a 10: 30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Keyport. Interment to follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.

Ann Towney, 95, of Laurence Harbor, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at home.

Born in Newark, she resided there before moving to Laurence Harbor 72 years ago. She was homemaker. Ann was a communicant of St. Lawrence RC Church, Laurence Harbor. She loved her family above all else and the children of the neighborhood.

Ann was predeceased by her husband, William, in 2004; her parents, Nicodemus and Mary Balazus Stancik; and a sister, Helen Kukla. Surviving is a daughter, Linda Kurimsky of Laurence Harbor and Union Beach; a son, William Towney of Laurence Harbor; a brother, Edward Stancik of Holmdel; a sister, Eleanor Stancik of NYC; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

Family and friends are invited Friday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and Saturday, 8AM at the funeral home, with a 9AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence RC Church, Laurence Harbor. Entombment to follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the St. Lawrence St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank.

MARIA KUROWSKY “Marie” LAPA of TINTON FALLS – died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She was 85.

Born in Perth Amboy, she resided in Matawan for most of her life before moving to Seabrook Village 10 years ago. Prior to her retirement, she was a secretary at EI DuPont in Parlin for many years. She was an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Matawan for many years, and was a member of the Circle. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank F. Lapa Jr, and by her parents, Gustav and Gladys Sheppard Kurowsky. Surviving is a cousin, Carol Mehok of Punta Gorda, FL.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, 1: 30 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, Keyport. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport.

EILEEN M. MILLROY APPLETON of CLIFFWOOD BEACH – died Sunday February 15, 2009 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. She was 59.

Born in Jersey City, she resided in Harrison for 32 years before moving to Cliffwood Beach 31 years ago.
Prior to her retirement 6 years ago, she was a customer service representative for Cablevision of NJ in Parlin for 17 years.

Surviving are her husband, Stephen; a daughter, Kimberly and her husband Michael Gecik of Middletown; a son, Arny and his wife Nicole Appleton of Old Bridge; two brothers, Charles Millroy of Little Egg Harbor and Kenneth Millroy of Manahawkin; a sister, Joyce Stiles of Effort, PA; and five grandchildren, Casey, Michael, Riley, Maddie, and Braeden.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at a time to be announced in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Keyport. Private cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 131 Bath Avenue, Long Branch, NJ 07740.

MARGARET C. KING CRAWFORD of UNION BEACH – died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at home. She was 66.

Born in Long Branch, she resided in Hazlet before moving to Union Beach 44 years ago. She was a Special Olympic coach for the handicapped for 23 years, and was also a teachers technician with the handicapped for the Monmouth County Regional School District in Tinton Falls. In addition, she was a floor aid worker at Regency Park Nursing Home in Hazlet, and Arnold Walter Nursing Home in Holmdel.

She was predeceased by her father, Theodore King.
Surviving are her husband, Frank T. Crawford; her children, Christina Crawford and her husband Michael Nesfield of Keansburg;Caroll Ehnot of Keansburg, Caren Febo of Ohio, and Catherine Crawford of Union Beach; a son in law, Scott Febo of Ohio; her mother, Lillian Foster King of Holmdel;Sisters Lavonia Kinney of Texas, Charlotte D’Amelio of Brownsmills NJ, Maryellen King of Florida, Catherine Bork of Keyport, Anna Theresa Kovacs of Texas, brothers: Joseph Connors of Keansburg, Theodore King Jr. of Idaho, James King of Belford, Joseph King of Bricktown and Patrick King of Louisiana and six grandchildren, Connor Dillon, Steven Ehnot, Cody Febo, Corey Febo, Tyler Kovacs and Maria Ferraro.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at a time to be announced in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. Interment will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

HELEN B. KARPIE SCHULMEISTER of CHEESEQUAKE – died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. She was 82.

Born in Hazelton, PA, she resided in Newark and Cliffwood before moving to the Cheesequake section of Old Bridge 60 years ago. Prior to her retirement in 1987, she was a quality control inspector for Revlon in Edison for over 20 years. She was a communicant of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Old Bridge.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles in 1997, and by a son, Louis in 1994.
Surviving are a son, David and his wife Kathy Schulmeister of Old Bridge; a daughter Linda of Matawan; a brother, Daniel Karpie of Holmdel; three grandchildren, Enjelica, Alison and Matthew; and a great grandson, Zachary.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9: 00 AM in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, followed by a 10: 00 AM service at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Old Bridge. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society, 246 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ 07755.
