Mary Yeager-Marchand

New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Brielle resident Mary Yeager-Marchand, formerly of Brielle, died Wednesday, April 17 in Florida.

She was 74 years old.

Born in Hillside, Mrs. Yeager-Marchand lived in Toms River before moving to Brielle and New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

She was employed as a nurse when she lived in Toms River.

She enjoyed spending days on the water with her family, clamming and crabbing, loved the beach, and her animals, especially her Reggie. She was proud of her grandchildren, and they will truly miss her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Owen “Spike” Marchand, a former member of the Manasquan River Golf Club, Brielle, and her parents, Harry W. and Eva Yeager.

Surviving are one daughter, Joanne C. Hesse, Point Pleasant Beach; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary Hesse, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Stephen and Mary Hesse, Janesville, Wisc.; two brothers, Dr. Richard J. Yeager, Mantoloking, and Harry Yeager, Toms River; three grandchildren, Dean R. Esposito and his wife Lisa, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jeffrey and Emily Hesse, Janesville, Wisc.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the Settle-Wilder Funeral Home and Cremation Service, New Smyrna Beach, Fla. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13 in Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head.

Contributions in Mrs. Yeager-Marchand’s memory may be made to the Jersey Shore Animal Shelter, 185 Brick Blvd., Brick, 08723, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., 17th Flr., Chicago, IL 60601-7633.

Henry Francis Herbermann

Spring Lake resident Henry Francis Herbermann died Thursday, May 4 in his home with his family by his side.

He was 64 years old.

Mr. Herbermann was born March 31, 1942 in Newark to his parents, Henry and Mary Ryan Herbermann. He was a Communicant of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Spring Lake. He had been a resident of Spring Lake for his entire adult life.

Mr. Herbermann attended Seton Hall University and Monmouth College, earning a master’s degree in history and completed doctoral studies at Fordham University, New York.

Henry was a former stockbroker with Merrill Lynch and later an employee of Olympic Limousine Service, Wall Township.

Mr. Herbermann was an adult Scout Leader in Boy Scout Troop 21 and Cub Scout Pack 21, and served as Scoutmaster of the Troop for a number of years. He was a member of the Msgr. Reilly Council number 5611 of the Knights of Columbus and former president of the St. Rose High School Father’s Club. He was also a member of the Spring Lake Planning Board for many years.

Mr. Herbermann was also a lifelong sports fan with a special rooting interest in the Baltimore teams: the Orioles and Ravens. His sons write, “Dad’s life was an example of great kindness, understanding, patience, and generosity.”

Mr. Herbermann is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Ann Bogdan Herbermann; his son, Justin, and his fiancee, Devon Potoczniak of San Antonio, Texas; his son, Henry, and his wife, Natalie, of Wakefield, R.I.; his grandchildren, David, Patrick, Mayra and Luke Herbermann; his sister, Mary Herbermann, of Spring Lake, and his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Mike Herzberg, of Spring Lake, and his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Laura Herbermann, of Wall Township.

Funeral arrangements were handled by O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Attn: Contributions, One Intrepid Square, West 46th St. and 12th Ave., New York, N.Y. 10036.

Sharon Eisenstein

Manasquan resident Sharon Eisenstein died Thursday, May 4 in the Specialty Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, following a courageous seven-year battle with cancer.

She was 63 years old.

Ms. Eisenstein was born in Brooklyn and lived in Staten Island for 25 years before moving to Manasquan. She was a retired special education teacher at the high school of Telecommunication Arts & Technology in Brooklyn, N.Y. and also taught briefly at Susan Wagner High School in Staten Island, N.Y.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence of Mineola, N.Y., Scott of Valley Stream, N.Y.; one sister, Beverly Banner of Lancaster, Pa. and Del Ray Beach, Fla.; one granddaughter, Nora Faye Eisenstein and her fiance, Fredric Walker.

Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean Township handled the arrangements.

Helen K. Schopf

Wall Township resident Helen K. Schopf died Friday, May 5 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

She was 82 years old.

Born in Jamaica, New York, Mrs. Schopf resided in Randolph, before moving to the Four Seasons development,Wall Township in 1998.

She was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Marine Corps.

Mrs. Schopf was a homemaker, a communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church, and was active in the clubs and organizations at the Four Seasons community.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford J. Schopf, who died in 1995.

Mrs. Schopf is survived by her daughter and her companion, Lisa A. Schopf-Brandmayr and Edward Wolak, Sea Girt.

Doris Loretta Walker

Manasquan resident Doris Loretta Walker died Thursday, May 4 in her home with her family by her side.

She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Walker was a library director at the Manasquan Public Library for 31 years, retiring in 1997.

Born in Pontiac, Ill., she moved to Manasquan in 1946. Mrs. Walker was a member of the Manasquan Junior Woman’s Club and a former Girl Scout leader.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Esther Hendershot, her husband, Robert George Walker in 1992, and her brothers, Dale Hendershot and Leslie Hendershot.

Surviving are two daughters, Lonette Aronson, Olney, Md. and Janice Herrmann, Manasquan; three brothers, Roger Hendershot, Mason City, Iowa, Wayne Hendershot and his wife Toni, Great Falls, Mont., and Darryl Hendershot, Fall City, Wash.; her sister-in-law and her husband, Mary Eirich Kohn and Felix; five grandchildren, Robert and Laura Aronson and Cristin, Meredith and Jenna Herrmann; and 21 nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be held Friday, May 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan. The funeral service will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Atlantic View cemetery, Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to The Manasquan Public Library, 55 Broad St., Manasquan, 08736, or to VNA Hospice, 14 Bodman Place, Red Bank, 07701.

Anna Licata

Toms River resident Anna Licata, whose daughter lives in Spring Lake Heights, died Wednesday, May 3 in King Manor Care Center, Neptune.

She was 79 years old.

Ms. Licata had been employed as a clerk for Chase Bank, Manhattan, before her retirement many years ago.

Born in Manhattan, she had lived in Staten Island before moving to Toms River 13 years ago.

Surviving are her children Steve and Carol Licata, West Hills, Calif., and Patty Licata and her husband, Brian Lackey, Spring Lake Heights; her brother, John Polanco, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Louis and Christian Licata.

O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township handled the arrangements.

Bernice Kwasnicki-Epple

Spring Lake Heights resident Bernice Kwasnicki-Epple died Sunday, May 7 in Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Kwasnicki-Epple was a lifelong resident of Jersey City, retiring to Spring Lake Heights 20 years ago. She was a homemaker, an avid reader, and attended St. Rose Church in Belmar where she participated in the senior program.

Mrs. Kwasnicki- Epple was predeceased by her first husband, William Kwasnicki, in 1975, her second husband, Eugene Epple, in 2001, and her sister, Edith McNeil Kane, in 2000.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Elizabeth Kwasnicki, Red Bank; her sister, Rita Burke, Spring Lake Heights; four grandchildren, Gregory Jr., and his wife Dawn, Middletown, Kristen, William and Margaret Kwasnicki, all of Red Bank; and two great-grandchildren, Gregory and Victoria Kwasnicki.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Reilly Funeral Home today at 9 a.m. Her funeral Mass will be offered in St. Rose Roman Catholic Church, Belmar at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Name cemetery, Jersey City.

Myron H. Quint

Belmar resident Myron H. Quint died Wednesday, May 3 in his residence.

He was 66 years old.

Mr. Quint worked as a nurse for Meridian Nursing and Rehab Center in Brick.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. Born in Port Allegany, Pa., he lived in various towns on the Jersey Shore before moving to Belmar.

Mr. Quint was predeceased by his brother, Gerald, and his sister, Bessie Sykes.

He is survived by his brother, Dr. Donald H. Quint, Wexford, Pa.

Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar, handled the arrangements.

Patricia E. Shea Johnston

Lakewood resident Patricia E. Shea Johnston, whose daughters live in Manasquan and Brielle, died Sunday, May 7 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

She was 69 years old.

Mrs. Johnston was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., raised in Queens Village, N.Y., and lived in Melville, N.Y. for 40 years before moving to Lakewood, two and one-half years ago.

She was employed as a Registered nurse for 25 years, retiring in 1998 from Huntington Hospital in Huntington N.Y.

She was a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church in Brick. She was an artist, a movie and crossword puzzle enthusiast, and an avid reader and bridge player. Mrs. Johnston was a team coordinator of Retrouvaille of Greater New York and a member of the Red Hats of Four Seasons, Lakewood.

She was predeceased by her brother, Dennis Shea in 1997. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard J. Johnston; a son, Richard M. and his wife Judith, Westfield; three daughters, Dr. Ellen Johnson and her husband Gary, Lebanon, Pa., Chris Haley and her husband Bob, Manasquan, and Sueann Bilello and her husband Jim, Brielle; a brother, Joseph Shea, New Fairfield, Conn.; three sisters, Anne Shea, Spring Lake Heights, Barbara Graeper, Greenville S.C., and Mary Singer, Laguna Beach, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick, handled the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.

Edward W. Lynch

Jensen Beach Florida resident, Edward W. Lynch, formerly of Brielle, died Monday, May 1 in Martin Memorial South, Stuart, Fla.

He was 77 years old.

A dedicated and exceptional teacher, Mr. Lynch taught at Bloomfield Junior High and West Essex Regional High School before retiring in 1988 after 35 years of service.

He was also a veteran of the United States Army.

A New Jersey resident for 70 years, Mr. Lynch lived in Bloomfield, Verona, Morris Plains, and Brielle before moving to Florida. He was an enthusiastic traveler, jazz historian and avid reader. He adored his family and dear friends. Known for his sense of humor, inquisitive mind and kind heart, Mr. Lynch will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known him. His children consider themselves blessed to have had such a loving and special man as a father.

Mr. Lynch was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Carol Ann Patten Lynch.

Surviving are his son Thomas, Metuchen; daughters Lorraine, Bernardsville and Lois Welsh and son-in-law Nicholas Welsh; granddaughter, Cara Welsh, Hampstead, Md.; his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Robert Backes, Jensen Beach, Fla.; and his companion, Wendy Briggs, Stuart, Fla.

Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan handled the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation 200 Middlesex Turnpike, Iselin, 08830-2000.

Rose Gibb

Manasquan resident Rose Gibb died Sunday, May 7 in her home.

She was 89 years old.

Mrs. Gibb was the board of health registrar for the town of Kearny for 25 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the AARP in Manasquan and the Veterans of Foreign War in Kearny. Born in Kearny, she lived there until moving to Manasquan 32 years ago.

Mrs. Gibb is predeceased by her husband, John and three brothers: Thomas, Gene and Frank Kane.

She is survived by one son, Thomas, Spring Lake Heights; one daughter, Catherine Woods, Florida.; a brother, Jack Kane, Nantucket; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on today from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Armitage Funeral Home, Route 34, Wall Township, with a funeral Mass at St. Denis Church, Manasquan, at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross cemetery, North Arlington.
