Irene M. Coppinger, 78, of Hazlet, passed away, Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.

Born in Jersey City, she resided there until moving to Hazlet 14 years ago. She was employed as a factory worker with Western Electric, Kearny, for 10 years; a waitress with Sophie’s Greenville Garden, Jersey City, for 30 years; and a lunch aide with PS20, Jersey City, for 10 years, before retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Hazlet Club; the Rosary Society of St. Paul’s, Jersey City; and the Democratic Club of Hazlet.

Irene was predeceased by her husband, Edward; a son, Edward, in 1986; her parents, Andrew and Julia Petri Varga; and six siblings. Surviving are two daughters and son-in-laws, Denise and Rocco Tango of Old Bridge; and Ruth Ann and Eugene Hickey of Keyport; a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Lorraine Varga of FL; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Brennan of Hazlet; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited Friday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ; and Saturday, 8: 30AM, with a 9: 30AM Mass of Christian Burial at Jesus the Lord Church, Keyport. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

HAZLET – GERALDINE R. FAUERBACH MURRAY died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet. She was 81.

Born in Newark, she resided in Maplewood and Union Beach before moving to Hazlet several years ago. She was a former communicant of Holy Family Church, Hazlet.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert b. Murray in 1989.
Surviving are three sons, Robert of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael of Columbia, TN, and Joseph of Hazlet; a sister, Agnes Geraci of Maplewood; and three grandchildren, Tommy, Bryan and Andrew.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11: 00 AM in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport. Interment will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 9-11AM.

HAZLET – ANGELA DiSTASIO LUPO died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. She was 92.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she resided in Hazlet for the past 25 years.
She was a homemaker, and a communicant of St. Benedict Church, Holmdel.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carmine in 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Francis and his wife Sandra Lupo of Lincroft, and John Lupo of West Trenton; two sisters, Fay Siconolfi of Buffalo, NY and Rose Marie Pira of Hackensack; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Christine.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8: 30 AM in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, followed by a 9: 15 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, Keyport. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

HAZLET – MARY G. NATALE CARPARELLI died Saturday, January 31, 2008 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. She was 94.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio, she resided in East Rutherford for many years before moving to Hazlet several years ago. Prior to her retirement in 1974, she was a seamstress for the Glamorize Company in New Jersey for 18 years. She was a member of the East Rutherford Seniors and the Hazlet Township Seniors.

She was predeceased by a brother, Tom Natale, and by a sister, Lena Furrillo.
Surviving are her husband, Peter; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9: 15 AM in the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, followed by a 10: 15 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Church, Keansburg. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

Robert J. Raba, Sr., 79, of Jackson, passed away, Monday, March 23, 2009, at home.

Born in Bayonne, for over 13 years, he resided in Willow Springs, NC, before moving to Jackson. He was a chemical technician for over 40 years.

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Eileen Raba, in 2006; a brother, Elliott and a sister, Caroline. Surviving are his children, Robert J. Raba, Jr. of Jackson; Linda M. Malley of Venus, TX; James H. Raba of Selma, NC; Dianne L. Hoffman of Willow Springs, NC; and Beverly A. Crennan of Jackson; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will take place on Thursday, 11AM at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.

Mary E. (Marotta) Donofrio, 88, of Keyport, passed away, Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Bayshore Health Care, Holmdel.

Born December 27, 1920, to Antonino and Theresa Marotta, she lived her entire life in Keyport. She was a 1937 graduate of Keyport High School. She worked for Mr. H.B. Thomas, owner of H.B. Thomas Store, Keyport, as a private secretary, for 40 years. In her later years, she worked for Personal Management and Planning Company, Matawan, for nine years. She was an avid Yankee fan, enjoyed dancing, swimming and bicycling. She was a communicant of St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Donofrio. She is survived by a brother, Thomas Marotta and his wife, Helen, of Union Beach; a nephew, Thomas Marotta and his wife, Carol, of Debray, FL; relatives in North Jersey and South Florida; dear friends, Evelyn Kane and Lois Haggerty of Salisbury, MD; and Patricia McKeen of Toms River.

Family and friends are invited Wednesday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and Thursday, 8: 30AM, at the funeral home, with a 9: 15AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Keyport. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.

George Hayes Purdie, 89, of Keyport, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009 surrounded by his family, at Medi Center, Neptune.

Born in Kearny, NJ before moving to Matawan for 37 years and moving to Keyport 12 years ago. He was employed as a Truck Driver with Chemical Lehman, Linden NJ retiring in 1980. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. George loved going to Atlantic City and Monmouth Park. He was also a member of the American Legion at Medi Center in Neptune.

George was predeceased by his Wife, Margaret Purdie in 1984 and also his brother Charles and sister Hazel. Surviving are two sons: George Purdie Jr. of Brick, NJ and his wife Betty, Scott Purdie of Cliffwood Beach, NJ and his wife Margaret; Stepson, Edward Moench of Old Bridge, NJ; and his wife Gail; Stepson, Fred Moench of Venice, FL and his companion Susan. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and many step grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday March 24, 2009 from 3pm to 7pm at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735. Funeral services will be held Wed. March 25, 2009 at TBA @ Day Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.

David M. Mahoney, 70, of Laurence Harbor passed away with his family by his side on March 21, 2009 at the Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel.

Born in Arlington, Massachusetts he lived in Roslindale & Fritchburg, MA before moving to Laurence Harbor 42 years ago. Mr. Mahoney was a Locomotive Engineer for 33 yrs for Conrail of NJ before retiring in 2000. He was a communicant of St. Laurence Church and an usher at the 12noon mass on Sundays. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He was a member of the Pappy, Perry Rod& Gun Club for as long as it lasted. He also enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City and poker with his family.

Mr. Mahoney was predeceased by two brothers Edgar and Arthur Mahoney. Survived are his wife Judith (Selinga) Mahoney, a son David M Mahoney of Laurence Harbor, two daughters Joanne Mehal of So. Amboy, and Carol Card of Sayreville, a sister Dorothy McLaughlin of Somerset, 4 grandchildren US Marine PCL Robert E. Mehal, Tyler Frazier, Kristin Mahoney and Rebecca Mahoney.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 8: 00am at the Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place, Keyport followed by a 9: 00am mass at St. Lawrence RC Church, Laurence Harbor. The interment will follow at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery Keyport. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm.

Sandra M. (Barbarotta) Policastro, 88, of Hazlet, passed away, Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.

Born in Newark, she resided in the Vailsburg section, before moving to Hazlet 28 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Church; a homemaker; a member of the Strawberry Patch Sewing Club, Hazlet; and the Poricy Park Quilters.

Sandra was predeceased by her husband, Frank Policastro in 1980; a sister, Jane Micchelli; and a brother, Ben Barbarotta. Surviving are two daughters, Catherine and her husband, John, who was like a son to her, of Hazlet; and Linda Nausedas of Middletown; a brother, Dominick Barbarotta of New Brunswick; grandchildren, Pamela and her fiancé, Dave; Sandra and her husband, Robert; Jim and Laura; and one great grandson, Andrew John.

Family and friends are invited Saturday, 3-5PM and Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, and Monday, 9AM, at the funeral home, with a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Benedict’s Church, Holmdel. Interment to follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Union.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA of Central Jersey.

Anthony Almeida Fonseca, 68, of Matawan, formerly of North Carolina, passed away in Jamesburg on Tuesday, March 17, 2009.

He was born in Jamaica, Queens. Before retiring, he was a carpenter for 35 years with the NJ Carpenters Local #1342. Anthony enjoyed doing arts and crafts; gardening; and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his friendly and outgoing personality that made him friends wherever he went.

Anthony was predeceased by a son, Joseph Fonseca; two sisters, Rose DeOlivera and Lena Pawlikowski; and two brothers, John Fonseca and Manuel Fonseca. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Truelove Fonseca; five children, Donna Hallahan of Middletown, NY; Tony Fonseca of Jamesburg; Donald Fonseca of Spotswood; Elisa Intravartola of Jamesburg; and Richard Allegro of Spotswood; two stepchildren, Deborah Sykes of FL; and Ronald Almasy of Newark; a sister, Mary DeOlivera; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited Thursday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and Friday, 9: 30AM, with a 10AM funeral service. Interment to follow at Cloverleaf Cemetery, Woodbridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Anthony to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, 1100 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712.
